  1. WATCH THE HAMSTER LIVE, ON OUR PAGE Replace the "Watch the livestream" link (which only opens x.com) with an in-page player inside the hamster card.
  1. DEGEN MODE: REWRITE ALL COPY Short, lowercase, dry, crypto-native. No soft or poetic filler, no "little", "tiny feet", "bottled", "simple rules", no marketing voice. Use this copy exactly where it fits; delete any line that has no replacement here.

  • How it works title: "rules". Exactly five lines: "lock 0.001–1 sepolia eth. pick 1–100 km."

"the counter starts when you lock. when squeektoshi runs your km, you cash out."

"break early = you lose 20%. it goes to whoever's still holding. nobody left? burned."

"30 days max. then it opens anyway."

"no owner. no admin. just a hamster."

  • Share on X text: "i trusted my eth to a hamster. it unlocks when @squeektoshi runs {km} km. #hamlock" plus the site URL.

  • Footer: "testnet toy. zero real value. not affiliated with squeekchain. it's a hamster, dyor." plus the contract and source links. Keep the current dark dot-matrix look, but louder: the lime accent stays, add the red LIVE badge, bigger numbers, less body text. Every number still comes from the contract or the APIs, never hardcoded.

Implemented both changes. Contract/address unchanged. Static export, README, and DESIGN.md are ready.

Build/typecheck and 33 Chromium/WebKit checks pass. Design probe: 14/16, with two required-copy exceptions. Deliverable: 1.33 MiB.

The real feed was off air; playback used fixtures. Validation details.

  3. Design criticAgent #154found 4 medium, 1 low

I reviewed the site and wrote 5 findings to .imd-findings.json: 3 medium bugs, 1 medium fidelity miss and 1 low taste note. None is high. No tracked file changed, and the probe screenshots are only in test/scratch/taste/.

    AreaCount
Brief requirements31: 30 met, 1 missing, 0 faked (hosting is after review)
    Broken features2
Product and main action on the first screen at 390yes (LOCK IT sits at about 677px of 844)
    taste@1 checks passed14 of 16
    Copy findings2
    Share cardyes (title, og:title, og:image, summary_large_image)

The two taste@1 checks that failed, casing ("ASLEEP. COPE.") and slogans (the hero lines, "0.001–1 sepolia eth…"), only flag copy the brief asked for word for word. The brief wins, so neither is a finding.

    Requirements

    • In-page player in the hamster card replaces the x.com link: met, web/src/HamsterCard.tsx.
    • LIVE_URL and schedule URL as one constant at the top: met, web/src/live.ts:4.
    • Poll every 30s while the page is visible: met, live.ts:128-136.
    • Live only when state is "live" and validUntil is in the future: met, live.ts:50 (an expired descriptor showed OFF AIR).
    • Red LIVE badge and "WATCH LIVE" button: met, the badge measured rgb(255,84,79).
    • 16:9 iframe: met, measured 308×173.25 (ratio 1.778).
    • x, youtube and twitch URLs with their patterns, twitch parent set to the hostname: met, live.ts:63-86. All three gave the right URL.
    • Never build an iframe from a value that fails its pattern: met, an injected bad id produced no iframe.
    • Close button returns to the pixel art: met, the image is back after closing.
    • Off air: grey OFF AIR badge, "next zoomies: HH:MM" in local time, "follow on x": met, HamsterCard.tsx:147-177.
    • Fall back to the old x.com link if LIVE_URL fails: met, with two flaws (findings 2 and 3).
    • Wheel stats (SPINNING / IDLE, rpm) unchanged: met, shown live as "IDLE, 70.657 rpm".
    • Hero, line under it, lock card copy, "LOCK IT" / "already locked. sit tight.", hamster card copy: met, App.tsx:316-430 and HamsterCard.tsx:119-145.
    • Your bag, CASH OUT, PAPER HAND IT, break confirm, "do it" / "nvm", deadline line: met in the code, App.tsx:495-641 and 902-945. I checked these in source only, since showing them needs a connected wallet.
    • The pot, diamond paws and its empty state, the five rules (numbers read from the contract): met, App.tsx:665-880.
    • Share on X text plus the site URL: met, logic.ts:162.
    • Footer text plus contract and source links: met, App.tsx:883-899.
    • Delete any line with no replacement copy: missing. The leaderboard keeps an "events from block…" line (finding 4).
    • Same dark dot-matrix look, lime accent, louder: met.
    • Every number from the contract or the APIs: met.
    • Contract and its address untouched: met, src/ did not change.
    • Hosting: after review.

Idea: a dark dot-matrix time-lock console where a pixel hamster in a wheel is the clock. The lime accent carries it; the red LIVE badge is the only other loud colour and doesn't compete.

    Findings

    1. Medium, bug (live.ts:121): one failed poll removes the player someone is watching, and it stays closed after the service recovers. Measured: 1 iframe, then 0 after a single 503 poll, still 0 once polls succeed again, with validUntil an hour away. The fix keeps the last good descriptor while it is still valid.
    2. Medium, bug (HamsterCard.tsx:147): when the live service fails, the card claims "OFF AIR" and shows two links to x.com/squeekchain plus "next zoomies: tbd". The fix shows only the fallback link.
    3. Medium, bug (live.ts:90): AbortSignal.any doesn't exist in Safari before 17.4. On those iPhones every request to the live service fails, so the player never appears. The same call in data.ts:176 stops the wheel stats loading there too. This is judged from the source only (see below).
    4. Medium, fidelity (App.tsx:789): delete the "events from block … through …" line under

    • mediumbug: one failed poll of LIVE_URL tears down the player the visitor is watching, and it does not come backweb/src/live.ts:121

Now: each 30 s poll replaces the whole broadcast state. If a single /current request fails (timeout, 5xx, a blip on a phone network), descriptor becomes null and failed becomes true. In HamsterCard that makes live false and url null, so the iframe unmounts, the badge flips to OFF AIR, and the [url] effect resets selected.

When the next poll succeeds, the visitor sees WATCH LIVE again and has to click it again; the stream restarts from scratch.

Change to: on a failed poll, keep the last good descriptor while its validUntil is still in the future: descriptor: current.status === "fulfilled" ? current.value : (prev.descriptor && isLive(prev.descriptor, Date.now()) ? prev.descriptor : null), using setBroadcast(prev => ...). Set failed to true only when there is no valid descriptor left. The validUntil timer that is already in HamsterCard still ends playback when the descriptor expires.

Why: the brief asks for a player people watch on the page, and says 'It is live only when state is "live" AND validUntil is in the future'. A descriptor that is still valid has not stopped being live because one request failed. The fallback to the x.com link is meant for when LIVE_URL is down, not for a single dropped poll in the middle of a stream.

Width 390, Chromium, built dist served locally.

      Mock /current returning {schemaVersion:2,state:'live',playback:{kind:'youtube',publicId:'dQw4w9WgXcQ'},validUntil:now+1h}.

      Click WATCH LIVE: 1 iframe.

Make /current answer 503, then fire one poll (dispatch visibilitychange).

Measured: 0 iframes, bar reads 'OFF AIR / watch on x'.

Restore the 200 response and fire another poll.

Measured: 0 iframes, bar reads 'LIVE / WATCH LIVE'.

The player stays closed even though validUntil never passed.

Expected: the iframe stays mounted through the failed poll.

    • mediumbug: when LIVE_URL fails the card shows OFF AIR, two links to the same x.com page and 'next zoomies: tbd'web/src/HamsterCard.tsx:147

Now: when /current fails, the bar shows a grey OFF AIR badge and a 'watch on x ↗' button. The footer still renders the off-air block, so it shows 'next zoomies: tbd' (or a schedule time) and another 'follow on x ↗' link. Both links go to https://x.com/squeekchain.

The badge claims a state the app does not know, and the same link appears twice in one card.

Change to: in the failure branch, render only the old x.com fallback. Change line 147 to {!live && !broadcast.failed && ( so the off-air footer is hidden when the service is down. In line 57, show no badge text (or 'stream status offline' in the muted style) when broadcast.failed is true, not 'OFF AIR'.

The 'watch on x' button stays as the single link, and the footer keeps only the wheel mood line.

Why: the brief says 'If LIVE_URL fails, fall back to the old x.com link'. It does not ask for that link plus the off-air layout on top. Each state should say only what the app knows.

      Width 390, Chromium, built dist.

Route both live-service URLs to HTTP 500 and load the page.

Measured card text: bar 'OFF AIR / watch on x ↗', footer 'next zoomies: tbd / follow on x ↗'.

      The card's anchors are ['https://x.com/squeekchain','https://x.com/squeekchain'].

The screenshot shows both links in one 348px-wide card.

    • mediumbug: AbortSignal.any makes every live-service request fail on Safari before 17.4, so iPhones on older iOS never see the playerweb/src/live.ts:90

Now: readJson combines its signals with AbortSignal.any. WebKit added that in Safari 17.4 (March 2024), and in earlier versions it is undefined. The call throws a TypeError inside the async function, so every poll rejects.

The card stays in the failure state for good: no LIVE badge and no WATCH LIVE button, even during a broadcast. The same call in web/src/data.ts:176 has the same effect on the wheel telemetry.

Change to: drop AbortSignal.any and abort with a timer: const t = setTimeout(() => request.abort(), 10_000) in refresh(), cleared in a finally block, and pass only signal to fetch. Or feature-detect with typeof AbortSignal.any === 'function' ? AbortSignal.any([...]) : signal.

Why: every iPhone browser runs WebKit, and the brief's headline feature is 'WATCH THE HAMSTER LIVE, ON OUR PAGE'. A missing API fails silently there and looks the same as the stream service being down.

Code path: on any browser where AbortSignal.any is undefined (iOS Safari 16.x through 17.3), readJson throws TypeError: AbortSignal.any is not a function.

Promise.allSettled marks /current as rejected, so failed is true and the card shows the x.com fallback even when /current returns a valid live descriptor.

To reproduce in any browser, run delete AbortSignal.any before the app script loads, mock /current as live: the card shows 'OFF AIR / watch on x' and never 'WATCH LIVE'.

The Playwright WebKit build could not launch on the review host (missing system libraries), so this comes from the source and WebKit's shipping history, not a WebKit run.

    • mediumfidelity: the leaderboard keeps an 'events from block … through …' line the brief gives no copy forweb/src/App.tsx:789

Now: under the diamond paws table, a muted line reads 'events from block 12,036,187. through .' The brief lists every line for this section (the title 'diamond paws', the four columns and the empty-state line 'nobody's finished a run yet. be first.') and says 'Use this copy exactly where it fits; delete any line that has no replacement here.'

Change to: delete the .leaderboard-footer div (lines 789-803). The pagination or the stale-scan warning moves up into its place. The scan range is still in the table's sr-only caption if you want to keep it for screen readers.

Why: the brief says 'delete any line that has no replacement here' and asks for 'less body text'.

Width 390 or 1440, Chromium, built dist, live Sepolia reads.

      Scroll to 'diamond paws'.

Measured: the text 'events from block 12,036,187.' and then 'through N.' is rendered under the table.

This string appears nowhere in the brief's copy list.

    • lowtaste: the page title and og:title use an em dashweb/index.html:7

Now: the tab title and the og:title (line 12) read 'HAMLOCK — your bags. his legs.' and the same em dash shows up in every link preview.

Change to: 'HAMLOCK. your bags. his legs.' in both and og:title. That keeps the brief's title and line, and matches the dry, period-separated voice the rest of the copy uses.

Why: the copy rule bans em dashes in interface text. The brief's own copy separates its beats with periods ('lock eth. the hamster runs.').

      Any width.

      Open dist/index.html and read document.title.

Measured: 'HAMLOCK — your bags. his legs.'

(contains U+2014). og:title on line 12 has the same string.
