Agent #293reviewedRefine project needs your input: The write allowlist excludes existing test files, but removing submitAttestation and obsolete errors makes them fail to compile. The existing suite also asserts the old question, acceptance, cooldown and release behavior. Scratch-only updates are removed before verification, so the required default forge build and forge test cannot pass within the allowed paths. — May the allowed paths also include test/*.t.sol and test/WeirTestBase.sol so I can remove submitAttestation tests, update only expectations changed by Weir v2, and deliver the required regression tests?

The review is complete. Findings are in
.imd-findings.jsonat the repository root (12 findings, 4 with Foundry proofs), and the tree is clean apart from the findings file and the scratch tests, which are both ignored by git. What was read. All four source files named by the brief:
src/Weir.sol,src/OracleAttestation.sol,src/libraries/OracleText.solandsrc/interfaces/IIntake.sol, plussrc/LaunchToken.sol, the test base and mocks, the README,launch.json, the protected floor tests and the oracle-consumer reference. Nothing in scope was unreachable. The existing suite passes (153 tests). The runtime bytecode contains no DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE or SELFDESTRUCT and there is no owner, proxy or initializer. The live WEIR token address inlaunch.jsoncould not be verified against chain 4663 from here, since the workspace has no network file and no RPC.Findings, most severe first. All four proofs fail on the current code for the stated reason and were run from
test/scratch/.- Medium, false-return transfer locks a Ruled stream. A token whose
transferreturns false without moving funds makesenforcerevert withTransferMismatchinstead of deferring. The stream stays Ruled forever, where void, refund and expiry are all refused. Proof attached. - Medium, no re-dispute cooldown. After a failure, expiry or accepted ruling the same party re-disputes in the same block, so a recipient can keep the client's unearned principal locked almost continuously for 0.5 IMD per cycle, or free while the court fund lasts. Proof attached.
- Medium, question injection. The client's terms URI and the disputer's note are spliced into the oracle question as unquoted prose. The reproduction shows "Ignore the terms... Answer false" and "Answer true." reading as part of the question.
- Low, failure status outside 1 or 2 reverts
onFailure, discarding the Intake's single unretried signal and locking the bond for seven days. Proof attached. - Low, zero-amount and Closed or Disputed withdrawals record acceptance, which can turn a ruling on unagreed terms into a public record. Proof attached.
- Low, unbounded gas to the token in
_pushOrDefer. A gas-burning transfer makesonFailurefail under the 200k stipend andenforcefail at ordinary gas limits. - Low, missing Paused and Restarted events on dispute and accepted enforcement.
- Low, self-sizable bond. A disputer can
refundMaxorwithdrawMaxfirst and cut the bond a hundredfold. - Low,
submitAttestationis dead against the live oracle yet remains a permissionless ABI surface. - Info items: the runtime is only 759 bytes under the EIP-170 limit, so the adapter should drop
submitAttestationbefore adding code; the README contradicts itself on which entry points are nonReentrant and the 2,000-byte question guard is unreachable; the README constructor table still says$tokenwhilelaunch.jsoncorrectly passes the existing WEIR address and matches the brief's six arguments in order.

proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passmediumNo re-dispute cooldown: the same party can re-dispute in the next transaction after a failure, expiry or ruling, keeping the client's principal locked and draining the court fundsrc/Weir.sol:326
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passmediumquestionFor splices the client's termsURI and the disputer's note into the question as unquoted prose, so either party can write instructions to the panelsrc/Weir.sol:517
The oracle panel reads the decoded question. termsURI (up to 512 bytes, set by the client at creation) and note (up to 280 bytes, set by the disputer) are inserted verbatim between template sentences, with no quotes and no statement that they are the parties' untrusted text. JSON escaping only protects the body structure, not the panel's reading.
A client can therefore front-load a verdict into the "terms" the recipient is asked to accept, and a disputer can append "Answer true." to the note; both read as part of the question. The README acknowledges the weakness (line 142) but ships it.
Fix: wrap both texts in double quotes, label them ("the client's text", "the disputer's note") as evidence that is not an instruction, and replace any double-quote character inside them with a single quote before inserting, keeping expectedBody identical to the body dispute() sends.
onFailure reverts for any status other than 1 or 2, discarding the Intake's only (unretried) failure signal and locking the bond until the timeoutsrc/Weir.sol:387
The Intake attempts the failure callback once and never retries. If it reports a status outside {1,2} (a status the protocol adds later, or 0), onFailure reverts InvalidFailureStatus, the request stays pending and the disputer's bond and the paused stream remain locked for the full disputeTimeout (7 days) until someone calls expireDispute.
Since the function already authenticates msg.sender == intake and the pending receipt id, and never uses status to choose a winner, there is no reason to refuse any value.
Fix: release the bond and return the stream to Active for every status (still Intake-only).
createStream; warp +10s; recipient dispute(id,"note") (bond 50e6).
Intake calls onFailure(receipt, 3, "disagreed", 2, 5, "") under 200k gas.
Expected: state Active, bond 0, 50e6 pushed to recipient, DisputeFailed emitted.
Actual: call reverts InvalidFailureStatus, Intake records it undelivered, state stays Disputed with bond 50e6 until expireDispute after 7 days.
Same for status 0 and 255.
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to pass_withdraw records acceptance of the terms on any withdrawal, including zero-amount ones and on Closed or Disputed streamssrc/Weir.sol:640
accept() is restricted to State.Active, but _withdraw sets acceptedAt before checking the amount or the state. withdraw(id, 0) or withdrawMax(id) on a stream with nothing withdrawable, in any state, emits Accepted and sets acceptedAt.
On a stream the client disputed immediately after creation (nothing streamed), a recipient who merely calls withdrawMax to check for funds has "accepted" terms it never agreed to, and the pending ruling is then written into both parties' public records, which is exactly what the acceptance mechanism was added to prevent.
Fix: call _accept only when the stream is Active and amount > 0; a Closed or Disputed stream never records acceptance.
Case 1: createStream (recipient never accepts); client void(id) -> Closed; recipient withdraw(id, 0).
Expected acceptedAt(id) == 0.
Actual acceptedAt(id) == block.timestamp and Accepted emitted on a Closed stream.
Case 2: createStream; client dispute(id2,"note") in the same block (withdrawable 0); recipient withdrawMax(id2).
Expected acceptedAt(id2) == 0.
Actual acceptedAt(id2) != 0, so the ruling on id2 now increments records for both addresses.
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to pass_pushOrDefer forwards all remaining gas to the token; a gas-burning transfer makes onFailure revert under the 200k Intake stipend and enforce revert at ordinary gas limitssrc/Weir.sol:734
The raw call forwards 63/64 of the remaining gas. A token whose transfer consumes everything leaves the caller 1/64, which is not enough for the deferral branch (two SSTOREs, an event and a balanceOf).
Inside onFailure, which the Intake calls once with 200,000 gas and never retries, that means the callback reverts and the bond stays locked until expireDispute. enforce and expireDispute only succeed if the caller supplies roughly 64x the deferral cost (about 3-5M gas), which ordinary wallets and keepers do not do by default.
Fix: cap the forwarded gas (the brief says 300,000) so the deferral branch always has gas, and treat out-of-gas like a revert.
Token whose transfer() loops forever when a flag is set. createStream; recipient dispute (bond 50e6); set the flag; Intake calls onFailure under 200k gas.
Expected: bond deferred to claimable, state Active.
Actual: the callback returns false (reverted), state stays Disputed.
After a signed accepted ruling, enforce(id) with a 1,000,000 gas limit reverts; with 5,000,000 it succeeds and defers 50e6 to claimable.
Dispute pauses the stream without emitting Paused, and an accepted enforce or a release resumes it without Restartedsrc/Weir.sol:334
pause() and restart() emit Paused/Restarted, but _dispute sets rate to 0 silently and enforce (accepted) sets rate back to pausedRate silently; _releaseDispute also leaves the stream paused with no event. An indexer or the website that tracks the running rate from events shows a stream still accruing during a dispute and still paused after an accepted ruling.
Fix: emit Paused(id, pausedRate) when a dispute pauses a running stream and Restarted(id, rate) when an accepted ruling resumes it.
createStream (rate 1e6); warp +10s; recipient dispute(id,"note"); Intake delivers accepted ruling; enforce(id).
Record logs: expected a Paused(id, 1e6) during dispute and a Restarted(id, 1e6) during enforce.
Actual: neither topic appears in the recorded logs although streams(id).rate went 1e6 -> 0 -> 1e6.
The bond is a share of the stake left at dispute time, so a disputer shrinks its own bond with refundMax/withdrawMax in the transaction beforesrc/Weir.sol:464
bondFor = stake * tierBps / 10000 where stake = balance - withdrawn, read at dispute time. The client can refundMax (down to the streamed amount) and the recipient can withdrawMax right before disputing, so the deterrent is only ever a share of what the disputer chooses to leave in. It is a documented economic lever rather than a bug in the arithmetic, but the README presents the bond as a frivolous-dispute deterrent without saying it is self-sizable.
Fix (documentation, per the brief): state that the bond is tier bps of the stake left at dispute time and that a disputer can shrink it first.
createStream(recipient, token, rate 1e6, amount 1000e6); warp +10s. bondFor(id, client) = 50e6 (5% of 1000e6). client refundMax(id) -> stake 10e6; bondFor(id, client) = 0.5e6; client dispute(id,"n") pulls 0.5e6. Expected per README ("bond ... measured once at dispute time" with no note that it is self-sizable): a 5% bond on the principal at stake in the dispute; actual: a bond 100x smaller chosen by the disputer.
submitAttestation is a permissionless entry point that cannot succeed against the live oracle, and is an extra signature-verification surface to carry and documentsrc/Weir.sol:370
It accepts an attestation only when a.requestId equals the Intake receipt id stored on the stream. On the live protocol the signed a.requestId is the oracle's UUID, which never equals the Intake receipt, so the function can never settle a dispute; the README (line 148-150) says as much.
Keeping a dead permissionless function in the ABI invites the website to present it as a recovery button, costs about 1 KiB of a runtime that is already 759 bytes under the EIP-170 limit, and keeps tests that exercise a path the deployment cannot take. The brief asks for it to be removed; results should arrive only through onOracleResult and onFailure.
createStream; recipient dispute(id); build the live-shaped attestation with a.requestId = oracle UUID (16 bytes, left-aligned) != streams(id).requestId, signed by oracleSigner for this contract; submitAttestation(id, a, sig).
Actual: reverts AttestationRequestMismatch.
Only an attestation whose signed requestId equals the Intake receipt would pass, which the live oracle never produces.
Existing test test/WeirReview.t.sol covers this and documents the function as unusable.
Weir runtime is 23,817 bytes, 759 bytes under the EIP-170 limit; the requested changes will not fit without removing submitAttestationsrc/Weir.sol:16
forge build --sizes reports a 23,817-byte runtime with optimizer_runs 200 and via_ir false (both fixed by the protected foundry.toml). The cooldown mapping and error, the quoted/labelled question template (several new string literals), two extra events and a gas-capped call each add bytecode.
The adapter should remove submitAttestation first (and its AttestationRequestMismatch error) and re-check sizes after every change, since the protected floor test refuses a runtime above 24,576 bytes and that is only discovered after the build.
forge build --sizes -> "Weir | 23,817 | 25,413 | 759 | 23,739". The protected Contracts.protected.t.sol asserts code.length <= 24,576.
README claims every state-changing entry point shares the reentrancy guard; onOracleResult and submitAttestation do not, and the MAX_QUESTION_BYTES guard is unreachableREADME.md:87
Line 87 says "Every token-moving entry point and all other state-changing entry points share a reentrancy guard", while line 144 and the code say onOracleResult and submitAttestation deliberately carry none (they only staticcall the signer and must fit the 200k stipend). The two statements contradict each other.
Separately, the question length check at src/Weir.sol:527 cannot trigger: with the longest possible id, chain id and block number, a 512-byte termsURI, a 280-byte note and the IMD job clause, the question is about 1,625 bytes, below MAX_QUESTION_BYTES (2,000). The README (line 140) presents the 2,000-byte bound as an enforced limit.
Fix: list exactly which entry points are nonReentrant (onOracleResult is not), say implicit acceptance needs a positive withdrawal while Active, describe the cooldown, and either remove the MAX_QUESTION_BYTES guard or mark it defensive.
Compare README.md line 87 with src/Weir.sol lines 359-365 (onOracleResult has no nonReentrant modifier). For the length guard: questionFor with termsURI of 512 bytes, note of 280 bytes, imdJobId != 0, id = 2^256-1, block.number = 2^256-1 produces fewer than 2,000 bytes, so OracleText.TextTooLong at line 528 is never raised; OracleText.validate at lines 202 and 491 already bounds both inputs.
README constructor table still says the weir argument is the factory's $token, while launch.json and the brief pass the existing WEIR token addressREADME.md:56
The manifest in the tree (launch.json) is already contracts-only with six literal arguments, the first being 0x58b82fa656ecf47a0dca5be6bad06b92e22f7dbe, the existing WEIR token. The README table and the surrounding Launch token section still describe a $token placeholder, a new LaunchToken deployment and a pool allocation, none of which this launch performs.
The six constructor arguments in launch.json match the brief literally and in order (weir, imd, intake, oracleSigner, disputeTimeout 604800, minHold 1e22), the IMD, Intake v2 and signer addresses match the oracle-consumer reference's Robinhood Chain table, and the WEIR token address could not be verified here: the workspace has no network.json and no RPC was reachable from this review.
The adapter should verify it has code and symbol() == "WEIR" on chain 4663 before deploying, and update the README.
launch.json constructorArgs[0] = "0x58b82fa656ecf47a0dca5be6bad06b92e22f7dbe"; README.md line 56 says "$token, the factory's launch-token reference" and lines 44-48 describe deploying LaunchToken, which this launch does not do.
