TOP PRIORITY: the treasury (FeeVault) must never be at risk.

Prove or break: (a) ARB already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership (the bank) can never be split, spent, laid in the wall or sent anywhere by any path, by anyone, in any order of calls; (b) the strategy can only ever withdraw from the vault what pot/pendingWall count, and pot + pendingWall can never exceed new fees received since handover (plus ARB returned via _toVault); (c) no external caller, flash loan, reentrancy through the vault/hook/PoolManager, or manipulated price can make the strategy call vault.withdraw for more, or to an address other than the PoolManager during a settled swap/add; (d) the owner's exit (releaseVault) can never be blocked; (e) withdrawWall returns the wall to the vault as bank, never re-counted as a fee.

Then: verify the round-1 fixes (see README): activation re-snapshot on handover, anchor-gated buildWall, buy limit min(spot, anchor, last hourly close) + slip, INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS, holding flag, burnWall/moveWall, lowerAth.

  • 1.highBank is snapshotted only at the first handover: after releaseVault and a re-handover, ARB in the vault is split and spent by buybacks and the wallsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453

            if (!a.active) {

    Invariant (a) says ARB already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership (the bank) may never be split, spent or laid in the wall, in any order of calls; (b) says pot + pendingWall never exceed fees received since handover.

    The round-1 fix 'activation re-snapshot on handover' is a one-shot flag: _observe() snapshots accounted and sets anchor.active the first time it finds vault.owner() == address(this), and nothing ever clears the flag. releaseVault() (line 751) hands the vault back without touching it.

    Three consequences, one root cause: (1) while released, every call that reaches _observe() (the hook's vault.onFeeReceived on each sell -- vault.strategy still points here -- the permissionless vault.onFeeReceived, buyback(), buildWall(), burnHeld()) keeps splitting totalReceived - accounted into _pot/_pendingWall although the strategy does not own that ARB; (2) at a re-handover (vault.transferOwnership(strategy), the documented way to repoint vault.strategy since the strategy has no setStrategy passthrough) no re-snapshot happens, so ARB that is in the vault at that moment -- bank by the README's definition -- is already counted; (3) stale _pot/_pendingWall from before the release survive even if the interim owner withdrew them, and _due() caps only at the vault balance (line 487-488), so the next buyback()/in-swap buyback pays the phantom pot out of the new bank through vault.withdraw, and _build() lays it in the wall.

    Merged from audit_economics 419bb2f0, audit_flow 3e7dee9a, audit_permissions 4b00986c and audit_math 311a2c58, all of whose proofs fail on this code for the stated reason. Rated high because the top-priority invariant is broken by the contract's own documented operational cycle (release, change strategy pointer, re-install) with no attacker needed, and the loss (ARB swapped for tokens and burned) is irreversible.

    Fix (keeps the design): in releaseVault() set anchor.active = false; before transferOwnership (a storage write cannot revert, so (d) holds), and in the activation branch of _observe() reset _pot = 1; _pendingWall = 1; alongside accounted = vault.totalReceived(reserve); so whatever the vault holds at any handover is bank and no stale counter survives.

    Verified: with exactly those three lines applied all five specialist proof tests pass; without the counter reset the stale-pot case (this finding's proof) still fails.

    Vault holds 100 ARB; vault.setStrategy(strat); vault.transferOwnership(strat); one reading (buyback() or vault.onFeeReceived) activates: pot+pendingWall == 0.

    50 ARB fees arrive and sync; next reading: pot+pendingWall == 50e18.

    Owner: strat.releaseVault(); vault.withdraw(ARB, owner, 150e18) -> vault balance 0.

    New 1000 ARB bank arrives, vault.sync (the hook does this on every swap), owner: vault.transferOwnership(strat); next reading.

    Expected: pot+pendingWall == 0 and vault balance >= bank.

    Actual: pot+pendingWall == 1050e18 > 1000e18 balance; the next buyback()/buildWall() withdraws the new bank to the PoolManager.

    Simpler variant (Proof_4b00986c, also reproduced): release, 50 ARB lands and vault.onFeeReceived runs, re-handover with 150 ARB in the vault -> pot == 50e18 at handover; buyback() in the next block takes the vault from 150e18 to 100e18.

    Ran: forge test --match-path test/scratch/Proof_311a2c58e8a0.t.sol -> FAIL 'bank at re-handover is spendable: 2050000000000000000000 > 1000000000000000000000'.

  • 2.lowlowerAth writes only athMcap: the stale lastMcap re-lifts the ATH at the next hour's first readingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:704

            athMcap = mcap;

    lowerAth is the documented way back from an ATH lifted by a pump held over an hour's close. It writes athMcap only. _anchorNow() (lines 427-430) applies the hourly close lazily: on the first reading of a new clock hour it sets ath = lastMcap if that is higher, and lastMcap is only rewritten by a reading.

    So whenever lastMcap > the lowered value and the next reading falls in a new hour (two cases, same cause: the pump's reading was the last one of hour H and the owner lowers in H+1 before any reading; or the ATH was already lifted by a close, the owner lowers it, and no further reading happens before the hour ends), that reading restores the pumped ATH over the owner's value. The tiers are then read against the pumped ATH and wallTarget() places a new wall under it.

    The owner can call lowerAth again, so the effect is bounded; hence low. Merged from audit_economics e51d2b53, audit_flow 854d956f and audit_math 78633c80.

    Fix: have lowerAth settle the pending close first (call _observe()) and clamp the running close, if (lastMcap > mcap) lastMcap = mcap;, so a stale reading cannot out-vote the owner.

    Deploy at tick 0 with athMcap_ = 0 (ATH = lastMcap = m0).

    Pump to tick 150 with one swap; next L1 block call buyback() (a reading): lastMcap ~ 1.015*m0, athMcap still m0.

    Warp +1 hour with no reading; owner lowerAth(0.9m0) -> athMcap == 0.9m0.

    Next block buyback().

    Expected: athMcap stays 0.9*m0.

    Actual: athMcap == ~1.015*m0 (assertGt passes in test_lowerAth_reliftedByStaleLastMcap, test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

    Variant 2 in the same test: with the ATH now at the pumped value, owner lowerAth(0.9*m0), warp +1 hour, one reading -> athMcap back to the pumped value.

  • 3.lowActivation does not require vault.strategy == this: a vault handed over while its strategy pointer names another contract lets anyone distribute() the bank theresrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:455

                if (vault.owner() != address(this)) return;

    FeeVault.distribute is permissionless and transfers the vault's whole reserve balance (bank included) to vault.strategy, relying on the recipient's onFees to revert; DrawdownBurnStrategy.onFees does revert (DistributeUnsupported), but that only protects while vault.strategy == this strategy.

    The strategy exposes no passthrough to FeeVault.setStrategy, so once it owns the vault the pointer is frozen; if the handover (vault.transferOwnership(strategy)) is done before vault.setStrategy(strategy), or while the pointer still names the previous LiquidityStrategy or any contract whose onFees returns, any address can move the entire bank to that contract until the owner runs releaseVault + setStrategy + re-handover (which itself triggers the high finding above).

    The strategy activates and reports a bank without noticing. This is an ordering/trust gap, not a guard bypass, hence low. Reproduced from audit_permissions 729dc015.

    Fix: require vault.strategy() == address(this) in the activation branch of _observe() (so a mis-ordered handover is loud and nothing is counted until it is corrected), or give the strategy an owner-only setVaultStrategy passthrough.

    vault.setStrategy(oldStrategy) where oldStrategy.onFees returns; mint 100 ARB to the vault; vault.transferOwnership(drawdownStrategy) without setStrategy; drawdownStrategy.buyback() -> anchor.active == true, bank 100.

    An unrelated EOA calls vault.distribute(ARB).

    Expected per (a): the bank never leaves the vault.

    Actual: vault balance 0, oldStrategy holds 100e18 (test_distributeBankToOldStrategy in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

  • 4.infoAny unlock holder can force an in-swap buyback (buyInside, INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS) through the permissionless vault.onFeeReceivedsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:286

            if (!poolManager.isUnlocked()) return;

    The deployed FeeVault.onFeeReceived has no caller check and the strategy's onFeeReceived only requires msg.sender == vault. A contract can call poolManager.unlock and, inside its own unlockCallback, vault.onFeeReceived(ARB): the strategy sees isUnlocked() true, no synced currency, no fee delivered and no hook involved, and runs buyInside with the pool in whatever state the caller arranged, once per L1 block.

    Checked against (b)/(c): no loss found -- the amount is capped by pot and maxPerBuy, the limit is min(spot, anchor, last hourly close) + 60 ticks so a pre-pump makes _buy return early and a pre-dump only buys cheaper, the withdraw goes to the PoolManager and _requireSettled checks the strategy's own deltas; the sandwich exposure is the same one the permissionless buyback() already accepts (with a wider 200-tick slip).

    Reported so the README's trigger list (trader's swap or buyback()) is complete and the gas/ordering assumptions in onFeeReceived are reviewed with a hostile unlock holder in mind. From audit_economics c225fbf7.

    pot = 10e18, maxPerBuy = 1e18, strategy active.

    Attacker contract calls poolManager.unlock(""); its unlockCallback calls vault.onFeeReceived(ARB).

    Expected per README: in-swap buybacks run only inside a fee-paying swap or via buyback().

    Actual: vault balance falls by exactly 1e18 (== maxPerBuy), pot 10e18 -> 9e18, the ARB goes to the PoolManager (test_forcedInsideBuy in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

  • 5.infoINSIDE_SLIP_TICKS is a fixed 60 ticks, not the pool's tickSpacingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:116

        int24 public constant INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS = 60;

    The round-1 fix describes the in-swap slip as one tick spacing so a buyback inside a swap crosses at most a tick or two of liquidity seeded above the price and stays under the vault's 400k gas cap. The constant is 60 while tickSpacing is an immutable read from the pool key, and the constructor does not check they agree.

    For a pool with spacing below 60 the in-swap buyback may cross up to 60/spacing initialised ticks, weakening the gas argument; above 60 it is merely conservative. Only matters if the strategy is reused on a pool whose spacing is not 60. From audit_economics fe922831.

    Fix: use tickSpacing at the call site in onFeeReceived, or require key.tickSpacing == INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS in the constructor.

    Constructor with key.tickSpacing = 10 is accepted (wallWidth validation only needs a multiple of 10). _buy(amount, INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS) then sets limit = base + 60, six spacings above the base; an LP seeding ticks at base+10 ... base+60 makes the in-swap buyback cross six initialised ticks.

    Expected per README: at most one spacing.

    Actual: 60 ticks regardless of spacing (by inspection of lines 116, 245 and 498; the deployed pool's spacing is not stated in the repository).

  • 6.infolowerAth accepts values that push the wall target below MIN_TICK, making buildWall and moveWall revert until the next hour closesrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:703

            if (mcap >= athMcap || mcap == 0) revert InvalidAth();

    lowerAth only rejects 0 and values not below the current ATH.

    With a tiny ATH (e.g. 1 or 2) level = ath * 4000 / 10000 is 0, sqrt is 0 and wallTarget() clamps sqrtP to MIN_SQRT_PRICE, whose tick is MIN_TICK (-887272); _floor rounds that to -887280 and lower = upper - wallWidth = -887340, both below MIN_TICK. _build() then reverts in TickMath.getSqrtPriceAtTick (InvalidTick) while no wall is laid, so buildWall() reverts and moveWall() cannot complete (it takes the old wall down and then reverts in _build, so the whole call reverts).

    The ATH is restored to lastMcap at the next hour close, so the effect is bounded owner misuse. From audit_math 4c405005.

    Fix: in wallTarget clamp upper so that upper - wallWidth >= the spacing-aligned MIN_TICK, or reject mcap values in lowerAth below a sane floor.

    Pool spacing 60, wallWidth 60, pendingWall 10e18, no wall.

    Owner lowerAth(1) succeeds. wallTarget() returns (lower -887340, upper -887280).

    Next block buildWall().

    Expected: a wall at a clamped valid range or a clean no-op.

    Actual: revert InvalidTick(-887340) (test_lowerAthTiny_buildWallReverts in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

Work

  1. Posted13 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit economicsAgent #194found 1 medium, 1 low, 2 info

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds four findings. No source files were changed. Scratch tests live only under test/scratch/.

    Treasury invariants (a) to (e): what holds

    • Bank never split or spent on the normal path. Activation snapshots accounted to the vault's cumulative totalReceived, so only later inflows become fresh. Every withdrawal the strategy makes goes to the PoolManager, is bounded by the pot or pendingWall, and is matched by a counter decrease. Liquidity for the wall is rounded down then costed up, so the vault pays at most pendingWall.
    • Returned ARB is never a fee. _toVault syncs, takes, then adds the synced delta to accounted, so withdrawWall, burnWall, moveWall and crossed-wall fees never re-enter the split. This covers (e).
    • Reentrancy and manipulation. The strategy's own swaps re-enter only through the vault notification, which returns on the guard. The buy limit is min(spot, anchor, last hourly close) plus slip, so a pre-pump makes the buy return early and a pre-dump only buys cheaper. distribute is blocked because onFees reverts, which protects the whole balance.
    • Exit. releaseVault depends only on the strategy being the vault owner and cannot be blocked. This covers (d).

    Where it breaks

    • Medium, line 453. The active flag is set once and never cleared. After releaseVault, every fee the hook delivers is still split into pot and pendingWall, although the vault owner controls that ARB. If the owner spends it directly and later hands the vault back, no re-snapshot happens and _due() clamps only to the vault's total balance, so the next buyback pays the phantom pot out of the bank. Proof: test/scratch/BankSpentAfterRehandover.t.sol fails on the current code, with the vault falling from 100 ARB to 89.92 ARB. Precondition is an owner release-and-reinstall sequence, hence medium rather than high.
    • Low, line 702. lowerAth leaves lastMcap untouched. If no reading follows in that hour, the next hour's first reading lifts the ATH straight back to the pumped close. Proof: test/scratch/LowerAthRelift.t.sol.
    • Info, FeeVault line 68. The vault's onFeeReceived has no caller check, so any unlock holder can force an in-swap buyback from their own callback. Confirmed in test/scratch/ForcedInsideBuy.t.sol. It spent exactly one maxPerBuy and no more, so no loss, but the trigger surface is wider than the README states.
    • Info, line 116. INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS is a fixed 60 rather than the pool's tickSpacing, so the "one spacing" gas argument only holds for a 60-spacing pool.

    Round-1 fixes verified as working: handover snapshot on first activation, anchor-gated buildWall add and crossed-burn, the three-way buy limit, the holding flag turn-taking, burnWall and moveWall accounting. The two gaps above are the re-handover case and the lowerAth re-lift.

    Not covered: no fork tests against the live pool or the real FeeHook address, so the 400k gas ceiling and real tick spacing were not measured here.

    • mediumActivation flag never resets: after releaseVault the strategy keeps splitting fees it does not own, and a re-handover lets buybacks spend the banksrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453

      Invariant (a)/(b): reserve already in the vault at handover (the bank) must never be spent, and pot + pendingWall must never exceed fees received since handover. The handover snapshot runs only while anchor.active is false, and nothing ever clears the flag. Once active, _observe splits vault.totalReceived - accounted on every call without checking that the vault is still owned by the strategy.

      So after the owner calls releaseVault(), every fee the hook delivers (the vault's strategy pointer is unchanged, and FeeVault.onFeeReceived is callable by anyone) is still credited to pot/pendingWall although the vault owner, not the strategy, controls that reserve.

      If the vault owner spends or withdraws it directly and later hands the vault back (vault.transferOwnership(strategy)), no re-snapshot happens: pot/pendingWall now exceed the vault's balance minus the bank. _due() clamps only to the vault's total balance (held), so the next buyback() or in-swap buyback pays the phantom pot out of the bank through vault.withdraw; _build would likewise lay bank in the wall.

      The README's round-1 fix says the bank is counted at handover; it is counted only at the first handover.

      Preconditions: an owner that releases and later re-installs this strategy (a plausible operational sequence, e.g. a temporary manual intervention).

      Minimal fix: in _observe, when active and vault.owner() != address(this), clear anchor.active (so the next handover re-snapshots) and return without splitting; alternatively clamp _due()/_build to held - bank with the bank recorded at activation.

      Bank = 100e18 ARB in vault; strategy activated (pot 0).

      1. owner: strat.releaseVault().

      2. 50e18 ARB fee arrives, vault.sync + vault.onFeeReceived -> strat.pot() == 50e18 although the vault is not the strategy's.

      3. vault owner: vault.withdraw(ARB, owner, 50e18) -> vault holds exactly the 100e18 bank.

      4. owner: vault.transferOwnership(strat); next block strat.buyback().

      Expected: vault balance stays >= 100e18 (the bank is never spent).

      Actual: the buyback withdraws ~10.08e18 ARB of the bank to the PoolManager; vault balance 89.92e18.

    • lowlowerAth is undone by the next hour's first reading because lastMcap keeps the pumped running closesrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:702

      lowerAth is the documented way back from an ATH lifted by a pump held over an hour's close. It writes athMcap only. _anchorNow lifts the ATH to lastMcap on the first reading of a new hour, and lastMcap is only rewritten by a reading. If the owner lowers the ATH after the pumped reading and no further reading happens in that clock hour (no trade, no buyback/buildWall call), the next hour's first reading finds lastMcap > athMcap and restores the pumped ATH.

      The owner's correction silently does not stick, which keeps the burn tiers lowered and the wall target raised exactly as the pump intended. The same stale value also affects wallTarget() through _anchorNow.

      Minimal fix: in lowerAth, also cap the running close: if (lastMcap > mcap) lastMcap = mcap; (and optionally re-read the current block's tier).

      Deploy at tick 0 (ATH = mcap0 = 1e24 in the test).

      Pump the pool to tick 2000 and make 11 readings across L1 blocks so the anchor steps up; cross an hour boundary and make one reading: athMcap lifts to ~1.2214e24.

      Owner calls lowerAth(1e24) -> athMcap == 1e24.

      No other reading in that hour.

      Warp one hour, one reading via vault.onFeeReceived.

      Expected: athMcap stays 1e24 until a new hourly close exceeds it.

      Actual: athMcap == 1.2214e24 again.

    • infoIn-swap buyback can be triggered by anyone from their own unlock through the permissionless FeeVault.onFeeReceivedsrc/FeeVault.sol:68

      The deployed vault's onFeeReceived has no caller check, and the strategy's onFeeReceived only requires msg.sender == vault. Any contract can therefore call poolManager.unlock, and inside its own callback call vault.onFeeReceived(x): the strategy sees isUnlocked() true and no synced currency and runs buyInside (INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS) with the pool in whatever state the caller arranged, once per L1 block.

      I checked this against invariants (a)-(c) and found no loss: the price limit is min(spot, anchor, last hourly close)+60 ticks, so a pre-pump makes _buy return early and a pre-dump only makes the strategy buy cheaper; paid never exceeds pot; the withdraw goes to the PoolManager; _requireSettled checks the strategy's own deltas.

      Reported so the README's trigger list (trader's swap or buyback()) is complete and so the gas/ordering assumptions in onFeeReceived are reviewed with a hostile unlock holder in mind.

      Confirmed in test/scratch/ForcedInsideBuy.t.sol: pot = 10e18, maxPerBuy = 1e18.

      Attacker contract A calls poolManager.unlock(""); A.unlockCallback calls vault.onFeeReceived(ARB) with no fee delivered and A not being the hook.

      The strategy runs buyInside and withdraws exactly 1e18 ARB (== maxPerBuy, pot falls to 9e18; never more than pot/maxPerBuy, never to an address other than the PoolManager).

      Expected per README: in-swap buybacks run only inside a fee-paying swap or via buyback().

      Actual: any unlock holder can force one once per L1 block, with the pool in a state of their choosing.

      No fund loss identified.

    • infoINSIDE_SLIP_TICKS is a hard-coded 60 ticks, not derived from the pool's tickSpacingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:116

      The round-1 fix describes the in-swap slip as one tick spacing, so that a buyback inside a swap crosses at most one or two initialised ticks and stays under the vault's 400k gas cap. The constant is fixed at 60 while tickSpacing is an immutable taken from the pool key.

      If the pool's spacing is below 60 (e.g. 10), the in-swap buyback may cross up to six initialised ticks seeded just above the price, which weakens the gas argument; if it is above 60 the slip is less than one spacing, which is only conservative. Suggest int24 slip = tickSpacing at the call site (or validating tickSpacing == INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS in the constructor).

      Constructor with key.tickSpacing = 10: _buy(amount, INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS) sets limit = base + 60, six spacings above; an LP seeding ticks at base+10, +20, ..., +60 makes the in-swap buyback cross six initialised ticks.

      Expected per README: at most one spacing.

      Actual: 60 ticks regardless of spacing.

  3. Audit mathAgent #1612found 1 medium, 1 low, 1 info

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds three substantiated findings. The source tree is unchanged; only test/scratch/ and the findings file were written.

    What was checked. The whole of DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol against the five treasury properties plus the round‑1 fixes, with FeeVault, FeeHook, Token and the v4 PoolManager and periphery math read for exact semantics.

    Properties that hold on the current code

    • (b) and (c) hold. _buy pays at most min(pot, maxPerBuy, vault balance) as exact input, and _build pays at most pendingWall because getLiquidityForAmount1 floors while the pool rounds the required amount1 up to at most the input. Every vault.withdraw from the strategy targets the PoolManager; unlockCallback is reachable only through the strategy's own unlock, buyInside is self‑only, and the nested buy's hook callback returns on the transient guard. The getSyncedCurrency guard covers a swapper mid‑payment, and pre‑transferred reserve without sync is absorbed at the swapper's expense, not the vault's.
    • (d) holds. releaseVault is a single one‑step transferOwnership to a non‑zero owner with no other dependency.
    • (e) holds. _withdrawWall routes reserve through _toVault, which advances accounted by exactly the returned amount, and touches neither counter.
    • Buy limits and wall gating are sound. Sandwiching a buyback is capped at 60 or 200 ticks above the lowest of spot, anchor and hourly close, well under two hook fees; the anchor gate blocks single‑transaction pumps from opening or burning the wall.

    Findings

    1. Medium, bank re‑snapshot is one‑shot (src/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453). anchor.active is never cleared, so after releaseVault and a later re‑handover the whole vault balance at that second handover is read as fresh fees, and stale pot/pendingWall survive even if the interim owner withdrew them. Proof in test/scratch/RehandoverBank.t.sol fails now and passes with anchor.active = false in releaseVault plus resetting both counters to 1 in the activation branch.
    2. Low, lowerAth bounces back (line 427). It only writes athMcap; the next reading in a new hour re‑lifts the ATH to the stale lastMcap of the previous reading. Proof in test/scratch/LowerAthBounce.t.sol.
    3. Info, lowerAth(1) bricks buildWall/moveWall until the next hour close (line 407), because the wall target clamps to MIN_TICK and the floored lower tick is out of range.

    Not covered. No fork tests were available, so gas behaviour inside live swaps and the real ARB token were not exercised. Slither was not run per the task rules.

    • mediumBank is snapshotted only on the first handover: after releaseVault and a re-handover, everything the vault holds is split and spentsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453

      Invariant (a) says ARB already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership is bank and may never be split, spent or laid in the wall. The strategy enforces this with a one-shot flag: _observe() re-snapshots accounted only while anchor.active is false, and nothing ever clears the flag. releaseVault() hands the vault back to the owner but leaves active == true, accounted frozen at the release-time value, and _pot/_pendingWall at their release-time values.

      If the vault is later handed to the same strategy again (the README's own operational model: release, install something else, re-install), the first reading after the re-handover skips the activation branch and computes fresh = totalReceived - accounted, which now includes every ARB that arrived while the strategy was not the owner, i.e. the entire bank present at the second handover.

      That bank is split into pot/pendingWall and becomes withdrawable through _payFromVault (buybacks) and _build (wall). Independently of any sync, the stale pot/pendingWall from before the release are also still counted even if the interim owner already withdrew them, so _due() (which caps only at the vault balance, not the bank) spends the new bank up to the stale pot.

      The vault owner can only be changed by this contract (releaseVault), so clearing the flag there is sufficient; the activation branch must also reset _pot = 1; _pendingWall = 1; so that stale counters cannot survive a handover.

      Fix: in releaseVault set anchor.active = false; before transferOwnership, and in the activation branch reset _pot = 1; _pendingWall = 1; alongside accounted.

      1. Vault holds 100 ARB bank; owner transfers vault ownership to the strategy; one reading (any swap/buyback()) activates: pot+pendingWall == 0 (correct).

      2. 50 ARB of fees arrive and are synced; next reading splits them: pot+pendingWall == 50.

      3. Owner calls strategy.releaseVault(), then vault.withdraw(ARB, owner, 150) -- vault balance 0.

      4. Later the vault is funded with a new 1000 ARB bank (any transfer; the hook's afterSwap or anyone calls vault.sync), and the owner calls vault.transferOwnership(strategy).

      5. First reading after re-handover.

      Expected: pot + pendingWall == 0, vault balance (1000) >= bank (1000) + counters.

      Actual: pot + pendingWall == 1050e18 (1000 bank split at the block tier + the stale 50 the previous owner already took), so 1050 > 1000 = vault balance; the next buyback/buildWall pays the new bank out of the vault to the PoolManager.

      Without step 4's sync the stale 50 alone already breaks it (counters 50 against a 1000 bank the strategy treats as spendable through _due's balance cap).

    • lowlowerAth is undone at the next hour close by the stale lastMcap of the pumped readingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:427

      lowerAth() is the documented way back from an ATH lifted by a pump held over an hour's close. It writes athMcap only. The hourly close logic in _anchorNow() lifts the ATH to lastMcap, the market cap at the previous reading's anchor, whenever a reading arrives in a new clock hour. lastMcap is only rewritten by a reading (a swap, buyback(), buildWall(), unlockCallback); lowerAth itself does not read the pool or touch lastMcap.

      So if the last reading before the owner's lowerAth was taken while the anchor was still at/near the pumped level (the anchor steps down at most 200 ticks per L1 block and only when something calls _observe), the very next reading in a new hour restores the ATH to that stale value, and the owner's correction is silently reverted. The same holds whenever trading is thin: one reading at the pumped block, no further readings, owner lowers, next reading (new hour) re-lifts.

      The tier table and the wall target then use the pumped ATH again.

      Fix: have lowerAth also clamp lastMcap = lastMcap > mcap ? mcap : lastMcap (or run _observe() first and require the new value to be >= the fresh reading), so the stale close cannot out-vote the owner.

      State: athMcap = 100 (units of ARB mcap), lastMcap = 100 after a reading at the end of hour H whose anchor sat at a pumped price; the first reading of hour H+1 sets athMcap = 100 (NewHigh) and, with the price already dumped, anchors ~200 ticks lower: lastMcap = 98.

      No further swap/buyback/buildWall happens in hour H+1.

      Owner calls lowerAth(60): athMcap == 60 (expected to stay 60 until an hour genuinely closes above it).

      First reading in hour H+2 at the real price (mcap 50): _anchorNow sees hour != a.hour, mcap = lastMcap = 98 > ath = 60, so athMcap becomes 98.

      Expected: 60 (the hour closed at ~50).

      Actual: 98, the pumped value, and the tier read for the block is computed against 98.

      Proof test test/scratch/LowerAthBounce.t.sol: lastMcap = m from a reading, live mcap drops to m/10 (supply burned; a price drop reads identically), owner lowerAth(m/2); next hour's first reading sets athMcap back to m although the live close is m/10.

    • infolowerAth to a tiny value (<=2 wei) drives wallTarget to MIN_TICK and makes buildWall/moveWall revert until the next hour closesrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:407

      Boundary of the wall math: lowerAth accepts any mcap >= 1. With ath <= 2, level = ath * 4000 / 10000 is 0, mulDiv returns 0, sqrt is 0 and the clamp sets sqrtP = MIN_SQRT_PRICE, whose tick is MIN_TICK = -887272. _floor() rounds that to -887280 (below MIN_TICK for spacing 60) and lower = -887280 - wallWidth.

      In _build, TickMath.getSqrtPriceAtTick(lower) reverts with InvalidTick (and modifyLiquidity would revert with TickLowerOutOfBounds), so buildWall() and moveWall() revert while no wall is laid. Recovery is automatic at the next hour close (ATH is re-lifted to lastMcap), so this is owner misuse with bounded effect; a mcap < some floor check or clamping upper to a spacing-aligned value >= MIN_TICK + wallWidth closes it.

      Pool spacing 60, wallWidth 60, no wall laid (wall.liquidity == 0), pendingWall > 0, price above the (now minimal) target.

      Owner calls lowerAth(1) -> passes (1 < athMcap, 1 != 0).

      Anyone calls buildWall().

      Expected: either a wall laid at a clamped valid range or a clean no-op.

      Actual: revert InvalidTick from TickMath.getSqrtPriceAtTick(-887340) inside _build via getLiquidityForAmount1; moveWall() reverts the same way after taking the old wall down, so it cannot complete either, until an hour closes and _anchorNow restores athMcap = lastMcap.

  4. Audit flowAgent #822found 1 high, 1 low

    The review is complete. The findings file is written and validated, no tracked file was modified, and the proof test fails on the current code and passes under the proposed fix.

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json

    • High. Bank spent after release and a second handover. releaseVault never clears the activation flag, and nothing re-snapshots on a later handover. While the owner holds the vault, every trade's hook call and any permissionless vault.onFeeReceived or buyback() still splits new fees into the pot. If the owner spends those fees from the vault and later hands it back, the stale pot is backed only by the bank, and anyone's buyback() or buildWall() pays with it. The proof test test/scratch/ReHandoverBank.t.sol shows a 1000 ARB bank falling to 900 ARB. Suggested fix: clear the flag in releaseVault and reset pot and pendingWall when activation snapshots the bank.
    • Low. lowerAth overwritten by a pending hour close. The ATH lift for a closed hour is applied lazily at the next reading, so an owner lowering the ATH before that reading has the value replaced by the pumped close. Fix by running _observe first inside lowerAth and clamping the running close.

    What held up under test, with a live PoolManager, hook and pool in the harness

    • The in-swap buyback settles its own deltas only and the bank is untouched after sells and the burn turn.
    • An attacker running the buyback from their own unlock, around a pump and dump, cannot touch the bank and loses money.
    • withdrawWall returns ARB with accounted advanced by exactly the returned amount, so it is bank and never re-split. A later buildWall lays nothing.
    • releaseVault depends only on plain Ownable transfer and cannot be blocked. _payFromVault is the only vault withdrawal the strategy makes and always targets the PoolManager. onFees reverts so distribute can never hand over the balance.
    • Round-1 items reviewed by reading: activation re-snapshot works once, the anchor-gated wall add and crossed burn require both tick and anchor, the buy limit uses the minimum of spot, anchor and hourly close, and the holding flag alternates buy and burn correctly.

    Not covered: gas measurement of the 400k in-swap cap on real Arbitrum state, and the fork tests the README mentions, which are not in the tree.

    • highreleaseVault never clears anchor.active: fees split while the vault is not owned let a later handover's bank be spentsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:752

      The bank protection relies on one event: the first _observe() that finds vault.owner() == address(this) snapshots accounted = totalReceived and sets anchor.active (lines 453-460). Nothing ever resets that flag.

      After releaseVault() hands the vault back to the owner, every call that reaches _observe() -- the hook's vault.onFeeReceived on each trade (the vault's strategy pointer still points here), the permissionless vault.onFeeReceived, buyback(), buildWall(), burnHeld() -- keeps splitting totalReceived - accounted into _pot/_pendingWall even though the strategy no longer owns that ARB.

      If the owner then spends those fees from the vault directly (the normal reason to release) and later transfers the vault back to the strategy, no re-snapshot happens: the stale _pot/_pendingWall counters are backed by nothing but the vault's bank. _due() caps only at the vault's balance (lines 487-488), so a permissionless buyback() pays the swap with the bank; _build() does the same with _pendingWall.

      This breaks requirement (a) ('ARB already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership can never be ... spent, laid in the wall ... in any order of calls') and (b) ('pot + pendingWall can never exceed new fees received since handover').

      Fix: in releaseVault() set anchor.active = false (the strategy is the vault's only owner-side caller of transferOwnership, so this is the only exit), and on (re)activation in _observe() reset _pot = 1 and _pendingWall = 1 alongside the accounted snapshot, so whatever the vault holds at any handover is the bank. Optionally also guard the split with vault.owner() == address(this) so a released strategy never counts fees it does not own.

      State: vault holds 1000 ARB (bank), strategy activated (pot == 0).

      Calls: owner strategy.releaseVault(); 100 ARB of fees reach the vault (hook take + sync, or mint + vault.sync) and vault.onFeeReceived(ARB) runs (any caller, or any trade) -> strategy.pot() == 100e18 although vault.owner() != strategy; owner vault.withdraw(ARB, owner, 100e18) so the vault holds exactly the 1000 ARB bank again; owner vault.transferOwnership(strategy); next L1 block anyone calls strategy.buyback().

      Expected: vault balance stays 1000e18 (what it held at handover is bank).

      Actual: vault balance is 900e18; 100 ARB of the bank bought tokens.

      Test test/scratch/ReHandoverBank.t.sol fails with '900000000000000000000 != 1000000000000000000000'.

    • lowlowerAth does not consume the pending hour close, so the next reading re-lifts the ATH over the owner's valuesrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:704

      lowerAth writes athMcap directly without calling _observe(). The ATH lift for a closed hour is applied lazily: _anchorNow() (lines 427-430) raises ath to lastMcap at the first reading of a new hour. If a pump's reading was the last one of hour H and no call has happened yet in hour H+1, lastMcap still holds the pumped market cap.

      The owner calls lowerAth in H+1 expecting to pre-empt the lift ('the way back from an ATH lifted by a pump held over an hour's close'); the next reading (any trade, buyback(), buildWall()) then sets athMcap = lastMcap, above the value the owner just set. Until the owner notices and calls lowerAth again, the tiers read against the pumped ATH and a buildWall() with no wall laid places the wall under the pumped ATH (wallTarget uses _anchorNow()'s ath).

      Fix: call _observe() at the start of lowerAth so the pending close is settled before the owner's value is written, and set lastMcap = min(lastMcap, mcap) so the running close cannot re-lift the ATH above the lowered value within the same hour.

      State: athMcap == lastMcap == M at tick 0 in hour H.

      Calls: a buy moves the price to tick 150; next L1 block, buyback() reads the anchor at tick 150 -> lastMcap = 1.015M (athMcap still M, no hour change); the price is dumped back; warp to hour H+1 with no reading; owner lowerAth(0.9M) -> athMcap == 0.9*M; anyone calls buyback().

      Expected: athMcap stays 0.9*M (the owner lowered it after the pump).

      Actual: athMcap == 1.015*M (test_lowerAthOverwrittenByPendingClose in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol: '1015087274529196534661043 != 900000000000000000000000').

  5. Audit permissionsAgent #1176found 1 high, 1 low

    The review is complete. Findings are in .imd-findings.json with two entries, and nothing in src/ or configuration was changed.

    What I found

    • High: the bank is snapshotted only once. _observe sets anchor.active the first time it finds the strategy owning the vault, and releaseVault never clears it. After a release, every increase in the vault's totalReceived is still split into pot and pendingWall, reachable by anyone through the permissionless vault seam or buyback(). When the owner hands the vault back, ARB that was sitting in it at that second handover is already counted and the next buyback spends it. This breaks properties (a) and (b) for the ordinary release, repoint, re-hand cycle, which is the only way to change vault.strategy since the strategy has no passthrough. Proof in test/scratch/RehandoverBank.t.sol: two tests fail on this code, showing pot at 50 ARB right after re-handover and the vault balance dropping from 150 to 100 ARB on the next buyback. Minimal fix: have releaseVault clear anchor.active so re-activation re-snapshots accounted, optionally clamping the counters to the vault balance.
    • Low: frozen strategy pointer plus permissionless distribute. If the vault is handed over while vault.strategy still names a contract whose onFees accepts, anyone can call distribute and move the whole bank there, and the strategy cannot repoint or stop it. A deployment-order risk rather than a guard bypass.

    What held under scrutiny

    • Every vault.withdraw the strategy issues goes to the PoolManager and is bounded by the swap delta or the liquidity cost, both proven at or below pot or pendingWall. _toVault advances accounted by exactly the returned amount, so returned ARB is never re-split. Reentry through the hook returns at once under the transient guard. The synced-currency check prevents clobbering a router mid-payment. distribute always reverts against this strategy. releaseVault depends only on OZ transferOwnership, which cannot be blocked.
    • Empirical checks passed in test/scratch/InSwap.t.sol: the in-swap buyback runs under the 400k cap with a real hook, vault balance minus bank equals pot plus pendingWall across sells and buybacks, the wall lands at 40% of the ATH, and withdrawWall returns reserve as bank with counters unchanged and no re-split.
    • Round-1 fixes verified as implemented: anchor-gated build and crossed-wall burn, buy limit of min(spot, anchor, hourly close) plus slip, 60-tick inside slip, holding flag turn-taking, burnWall and moveWall settle to zero deltas, lowerAth only lowers. The activation re-snapshot is the one fix that is incomplete, as reported.

    Not covered: no Slither or long fuzz runs, no fork against the live pool, and the ARB token was a plain mock. Overflow paths in marketCapAt and tick bounds in wallTarget were reasoned about but only reachable at unrealistic prices, so they were not reported.

    • highBank is snapshotted only at the first handover: ARB in the vault when the strategy re-takes ownership is split and spentsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453

      The round-1 fix 'activation re-snapshot on handover' is implemented as a one-shot flag: _observe() sets anchor.active = true and accounted = vault.totalReceived(reserve) the first time it finds vault.owner() == address(this), and nothing ever clears the flag. releaseVault() (line 751) hands the vault back without touching it.

      Once active, _observe() keeps splitting every increase of vault.totalReceived into _pot/_pendingWall (lines 463-470) regardless of who owns the vault, and _observe() is reachable by anyone through the permissionless FeeVault.onFeeReceived seam (the hook calls it on every swap while vault.strategy still points here) or through buyback()/buildWall().

      So in the ordinary operational cycle release -> (fees or owner top-up land in the vault) -> hand back, the ARB that is in the vault at the second handover is already counted in pot/pendingWall and the next buyback()/buildWall() withdraws it from the vault.

      That breaks property (a) ('ARB already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership can never be split, spent, laid in the wall... in any order of calls') and (b) ('pot + pendingWall can never exceed new fees received since handover'). The cycle is not exotic: the strategy has no passthrough to FeeVault.setStrategy, so releasing and re-handing the vault is the only way for the owner to repoint vault.strategy, and the contract explicitly advertises releaseVault for this.

      A secondary effect of the same root cause: if the interim owner withdrew from the vault, pot + pendingWall can exceed the vault balance after re-handover, and buildWall() then reverts inside vault.withdraw (insufficient balance) until the owner calls withdrawFromVault(reserve, x, 0) to run the shortfall clamp.

      Fix (keeps the design): make activation re-arm on every loss of ownership, e.g. have releaseVault() set anchor.active = false (a storage write cannot revert, so (d) is preserved), so the next _observe() re-snapshots accounted at the new handover; optionally also clamp _pot/_pendingWall to the vault balance at re-activation. Alternatively gate the split in _observe() on vault.owner() == address(this) and re-snapshot when ownership returns.

      State: vault holds 100 ARB; vault.setStrategy(strategy); vault.transferOwnership(strategy); any call reaching _observe (e.g. vault.onFeeReceived(ARB)) activates: pot+pendingWall == 0, bank = 100.

      Then: strategy.releaseVault(); 50 ARB arrives in the vault (fee or deposit) and is synced; in a later block vault.onFeeReceived(ARB) (anyone, or the hook on any swap) runs _observe, which splits the 50 ARB (with ATH >> mcap, tier 100%: pot = 50).

      Owner calls vault.transferOwnership(strategy) again: vault holds 150 ARB, all of it 'already in the vault when the strategy takes ownership'.

      Expected: pot+pendingWall == 0 and the vault balance stays 150 ARB across any later buyback/buildWall.

      Actual: pot == 50e18 immediately after the handover, and strategy.buyback() in the next block spends it: vault balance 150e18 -> 100e18.

      Proof: test/scratch/RehandoverBank.t.sol, both tests fail on this code ('ARB held at handover was split: 50000000000000000000 != 0' and 'bank was spent by buyback: 100000000000000000000 != 150000000000000000000').

    • lowStrategy cannot repoint vault.strategy; if the vault is handed over while it still points at a strategy whose onFees accepts, anyone can distribute() the whole bank theresrc/FeeVault.sol:84

      FeeVault.distribute is permissionless and transfers the vault's entire reserve balance (bank included) to vault.strategy, relying on the recipient's onFees to revert when the transfer must not happen. DrawdownBurnStrategy.onFees reverts (DistributeUnsupported), so the protection holds only while vault.strategy == DrawdownBurnStrategy.

      DrawdownBurnStrategy exposes no passthrough to FeeVault.setStrategy, so once it owns the vault the pointer is frozen: if the handover (vault.transferOwnership(strategy)) is done before vault.setStrategy(strategy), or while the pointer still names the previous LiquidityStrategy or any other contract whose onFees does not revert, then until the owner runs releaseVault + setStrategy + re-handover (which itself triggers the high finding above) any address can call vault.distribute(ARB) and move the full bank to that other contract.

      The strategy's own code offers no way to detect or stop it. This is a trust/ordering gap rather than a bypass of a guard, hence low; it belongs in the deployment checklist and could be closed in code by having DrawdownBurnStrategy either expose an owner-only setVaultStrategy passthrough or require vault.strategy() == address(this) in _observe before setting anchor.active (so an incorrectly ordered handover is loud rather than silent).

      State: vault holds 100 ARB bank; vault.strategy == S_old where S_old.onFees(address,uint256) does not revert (any previous strategy or a mock); owner calls vault.transferOwnership(drawdownStrategy) without first calling vault.setStrategy(drawdownStrategy).

      Action: an unrelated EOA calls vault.distribute(ARB).

      Expected per property (a): the bank never leaves the vault by any path.

      Actual: FeeVault transfers 100 ARB to S_old, calls S_old.onFees which returns, lastBalance is set to 0 and FeesDistributed is emitted; DrawdownBurnStrategy still owns an empty vault and cannot have prevented it (no setStrategy passthrough, onFees check only applies to itself).

  6. Audit judgeAgent #999found 1 high, 2 low, 3 info

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds six merged findings, all reproduced against the code.

    What I verified

    • High, re-handover bank spend (src/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453). Four specialists reported the same root cause under different titles. All four attached proofs fail on this code for the stated reason. The activation flag is one-shot, releaseVault never clears it, and the counters survive a release. So fees arriving while released are still split, ARB present at a second handover is counted, and a stale pot is paid out of the new bank by the next buyback or wall build. I applied the three-line fix temporarily (clear the flag in releaseVault, reset pot and pendingWall on activation), confirmed all five proof tests pass, and reverted the tree. I attached the audit_math proof because it also catches a partial fix that only clears the flag.
    • Low, lowerAth re-lifted by stale lastMcap (line 704). Three specialists, one root cause. My test reproduces both variants: lowering before the pending close is applied, and lowering after a pumped close with no reading left in the hour.
    • Low, activation without checking vault.strategy (line 455). Reproduced: with the pointer still at an old strategy whose onFees returns, anyone can call distribute and move the whole bank there.
    • Info findings for the forced in-swap buyback via a foreign unlock (no loss found, bounded by pot and maxPerBuy), the hard-coded 60-tick in-swap slip, and lowerAth(1) making buildWall and moveWall revert with InvalidTick until the next hour close.

    Invariants (a) to (e) and round-1 fixes. Other than the handover defect, I found the bank protection, the pot and pendingWall accounting through _toVault, the PoolManager-only withdraw path, the unblockable releaseVault, and withdrawWall returning the wall as bank to hold. Anchor-gated buildWall, the three-way buy limit, the holding flag, and burnWall/moveWall match the README. The activation re-snapshot and lowerAth are the two round-1 fixes that do not fully hold.

    Not covered. No fork tests against the live pool, no Slither, and no fuzzing within the time budget. Scratch tests live under test/scratch and are not part of the submission.

    • highBank is snapshotted only at the first handover: after releaseVault and a re-handover, ARB in the vault is split and spent by buybacks and the wallsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:453

      Vault holds 100 ARB; vault.setStrategy(strat); vault.transferOwnership(strat); one reading (buyback() or vault.onFeeReceived) activates: pot+pendingWall == 0.

      50 ARB fees arrive and sync; next reading: pot+pendingWall == 50e18.

      Owner: strat.releaseVault(); vault.withdraw(ARB, owner, 150e18) -> vault balance 0.

      New 1000 ARB bank arrives, vault.sync (the hook does this on every swap), owner: vault.transferOwnership(strat); next reading.

      Expected: pot+pendingWall == 0 and vault balance >= bank.

    • lowlowerAth writes only athMcap: the stale lastMcap re-lifts the ATH at the next hour's first readingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:704

      lowerAth is the documented way back from an ATH lifted by a pump held over an hour's close.

      Warp +1 hour with no reading; owner lowerAth(0.9m0) -> athMcap == 0.9m0.

      Next block buyback().

      Expected: athMcap stays 0.9*m0.

      Actual: athMcap == ~1.015*m0 (assertGt passes in test_lowerAth_reliftedByStaleLastMcap, test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

      Variant 2 in the same test: with the ATH now at the pumped value, owner lowerAth(0.9*m0), warp +1 hour, one reading -> athMcap back to the pumped value.

    • lowActivation does not require vault.strategy == this: a vault handed over while its strategy pointer names another contract lets anyone distribute() the bank theresrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:455

      Fix: require vault.strategy() == address(this) in the activation branch of _observe() (so a mis-ordered handover is loud and nothing is counted until it is corrected), or give the strategy an owner-only setVaultStrategy passthrough.

      vault.setStrategy(oldStrategy) where oldStrategy.onFees returns; mint 100 ARB to the vault; vault.transferOwnership(drawdownStrategy) without setStrategy; drawdownStrategy.buyback() -> anchor.active == true, bank 100.

      An unrelated EOA calls vault.distribute(ARB).

      Expected per (a): the bank never leaves the vault.

      Actual: vault balance 0, oldStrategy holds 100e18 (test_distributeBankToOldStrategy in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

    • infoAny unlock holder can force an in-swap buyback (buyInside, INSIDE_SLIP_TICKS) through the permissionless vault.onFeeReceivedsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:286

From audit_economics c225fbf7.

      pot = 10e18, maxPerBuy = 1e18, strategy active.

      Attacker contract calls poolManager.unlock(""); its unlockCallback calls vault.onFeeReceived(ARB).

      Expected per README: in-swap buybacks run only inside a fee-paying swap or via buyback().

      Actual: vault balance falls by exactly 1e18 (== maxPerBuy), pot 10e18 -> 9e18, the ARB goes to the PoolManager (test_forcedInsideBuy in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).

    • infoINSIDE_SLIP_TICKS is a fixed 60 ticks, not the pool's tickSpacingsrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:116

    • infolowerAth accepts values that push the wall target below MIN_TICK, making buildWall and moveWall revert until the next hour closesrc/DrawdownBurnStrategy.sol:703

      lowerAth only rejects 0 and values not below the current ATH.

      Next block buildWall().

      Expected: a wall at a clamped valid range or a clean no-op.

      Actual: revert InvalidTick(-887340) (test_lowerAthTiny_buildWallReverts in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol).
