Adversarial review, ROUND 2, of the Regen rail in github.com/ToknWrks/imdo at the given commit (branch regen-rail, PR #1): src/regen/ and its tests, script/DeployRegenRail.s.sol, and the OffsetsForwarder seat in script/DeployImdo.s.sol. Foundry; Solidity 0.8.26, evm_version cancun, via_ir, optimizer_runs 44444444, bytecode_hash = "none"; vendored lib/. The rest of the tree was reviewed by IMD swarm job 37ac5d94-da10-4a27-84d9-246c17a2c3f7 and is NOT in scope except where the rail touches it (ImdoTreasury.payOffsets/offsetsSafe, DeployImdo's forwarder prediction).

Round 1 was IMD swarm job 9091d583-d490-481f-8015-08f9d4df9009 at commit 43935b0 (1 high, 2 medium, 7 low, 4 info). All were answered in commits a245307 and ac40001. The point of this round is to BREAK THE FIXES and find what round 1 missed, not to restate it. The fixes:

  • High (no floor on the USDC -> kVCM leg; the aggregator prices kVCM at the spot of Aerodrome USDC/kVCM pool 0x5C0D76fab1822bDeb47308eD6028231761ED723E, ~15.8k USDC): RegenRouter now plans every credit's offer (_offer: aggregator quote for the dollars floored to TONNE_STEP 1e12, then the USDC the aggregator asks for those tonnes via quoteRetireCreditViaKlima.retirementPrice, one step less if that overshoots) and holds the tonnes to minTonnesBps (9700) of referenceTonnes = the aggregator's kVCM-input quote for kvcmPool.quote(USDC, spend, twapGranularity 4) (Pool.quote is Aerodrome's time-weighted price, observations >= 30 min apart, fee-exclusive). Planned BEFORE the ETH leg with minUsdcOut(ethIn - bounty, price) + usdcOf[project] (Skipped("priceOff") or Skipped("classEmpty"), nothing spent) and again AFTER it with the real held (revert NothingRetired undoes the swap).
  • Medium: retireCreditViaKlima is in try/catch; the first credit (A, B, C order) that plans and retires wins, a reverting one is passed over; none -> revert.
  • Medium: USDC is kept PER PROJECT (usdcOf[projectId] = held - spent) and only spent on that project's batches; partial absorption allowed; donated USDC belongs to nobody.
  • Low: remainders under minBatch (and forfeited bounties) are processed by anyone with NO bounty (balance 0 -> NothingToProcess); registry names unique on nameKey (ASCII lower-cased, runs of spaces collapsed; stored as registered); regen address BIP-173 bech32 checksum verified on chain (hrp "regen"); OffsetsForwarder refuses a treasury/bridge with no code (NoCode) and bounds minGasLimit to 100000..1000000 (BadGasLimit); DeployImdo takes exactly one of offsetsSafe / receiverOnBase and for the latter predicts the forwarder at computeCreateAddress(deployer, nonce+1) just before new ImdoTreasury, creates it right after and checks treasury.offsetsSafe() == forwarder; DeployRegenRail deploys Base in one broadcast (registry, venue, router, factory, register must return id 1, deploy(1) must equal predict(1)).
  • Info: a future updatedAt skips; an ETH/USD answer on the aggregator's min/max clamp (read via the proxy's aggregator(), revert tolerated) is stale; with Config.sequencerUptime set (Chainlink L2 uptime feed 0xBCF85224fc0756B9Fa45aA7892530B47e10b6433) a batch skips while the sequencer is down or back for under SEQUENCER_GRACE (1 hour); UniswapV3Venue pins its output token (constructor(router, weth, token, fee)).

Config (19 fields): registry, aggregator, usdc, kvcm, kvcmPool, classVault, creditA/B/C, venue, ethUsd, sequencerUptime (optional), maxFeedAge, minBatch, maxBatch, bountyBps, minOutBps, twapGranularity, minTonnesBps. Intended Base values: 0.001 / 0.05 ether, bounty 50 bps, minOut 9700, maxFeedAge 3600, granularity 4, minTonnes 9700. Public views: minUsdcOut, referenceTonnes(credit, amount), plan(amount) -> Plan{credit, tonnes, spend, reason}, message (grammar v1, unchanged). Everything else (registry, receivers/factory, forwarder, events, errors) is as the round-1 brief described, read the source.

Review questions (each needs a concrete answer):

  • The time-weighted bar. Can Pool.quote(USDC, amount, granularity) be moved within one transaction or block on Aerodrome's Pool (Velodrome v2; observations written in _update after periodSize 1800s)? What does holding the pool off its average for the whole window cost, and what is the most that extracts per batch and in total given the bounty? What if the pool has fewer observations than granularity, or has been idle so the last observations are hours old (an old bar: exploitable, or only a skip)? Does routing the reference through the aggregator's kVCM-input quote (Klima's kVCM-per-tonne curve, moved by retirements) give the caller a second lever, at what cost? Is the fee-exclusive quote on the right side of the bar?
  • Plan before vs after. Can the divergence between the pre-swap estimate and the real held be forced so the first plan always passes and the second always reverts (the batch never retires, each caller burns ~4M gas)? Can it under-retire within the bar?
  • Per-project dollars. Can USDC move between projects, be spent under another name, or become unspendable? What does a partial absorption leave and when is it spent? Is one step of slack enough against the live aggregator's round-up (quoteRetireCreditViaKlima.retirementPrice vs what retireCreditViaKlima pulls)?
  • Fall-through. Can the (upgradeable) aggregator revert in a way that eats the forwarded gas (63/64) and derail the loop; can a callback during the retirement re-enter deposit() or defeat the approve-to-zero; any standing allowance; can a credit retire fewer tonnes than planned without reverting?
  • Remainders. With sub-minBatch balances processable for no bounty: 1-wei griefing (what does SwapRouter02 do with 1 wei, who pays), and any path where a remainder is processed at the project's loss rather than the caller's.
  • Feeds. Sequencer answer/startedAt semantics on Base, the clamp read (int192, proxy phases, a proxy that reverts), future updatedAt; anything that skips forever.
  • Registry. Is nameKey the right normalisation (digits/punctuation look-alikes still register, by design) and does it break any grammar v1 guarantee? Verify the bech32 polymod against independent vectors; is a valid-but-wrong address still the trap round 1 described?
  • Forwarder and deploy. Do the gas bounds match the real OP portal and L2 relay needs; is the nonce prediction safe against everything DeployImdo does between the two creations (HookMiner.find is pure); can DeployRegenRail leave a half-deployed rail (register reverting, id != 1 on a reused registry); is receiver-before-forwarder enforced or only documented?
  • Anything from round 1 not actually fixed, and anything new.

  • 1.highTime-weighted bar follows a price held for one window: four free sync() calls 1801 s apart make a pumped Aerodrome pool the reference, every pending batch is then retired at the pumped price and the msrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

                if (tonnes < bar * minTonnesBps / BPS) return p;

    The credit-leg floor (round 1's high) compares the tonnes the aggregator offers at the Aerodrome spot with minTonnesBps of referenceTonnes(credit, spend), i.e. Pool.quote(USDC, spend, 4): the equal-weight mean of the last four COMPLETED observation intervals of pool 0x5C0D76fab1822bDeb47308eD6028231761ED723E.

    Verified on a Base fork at block 52335751: (a) a swap cannot move quote() inside its own transaction (an 8,000 USDC pump is refused with Skipped("priceOff"), so the intra-transaction part of the round-1 fix holds); (b) observations are written by ANY Pool._update more than periodSize (1800 s) after the previous one, and sync() is public and free, so the mover decides when intervals close; (c) after the pump and five sync() calls 1801 s apart (observations 6805 -> 6810, 2 h 30 min) quote() equals the pumped reserves and the bar is met at the pumped price.

    The bar is relative, so once the average has followed, ANY level passes; nothing bounds the loss to (10000 - minTonnesBps) as the NatSpec at lines 44-46 and docs/REGEN_RAIL.md claim.

    Nothing rate-limits process(): every pending (project, depositor) balance can be processed against the held price in one transaction (nonReentrant only blocks nesting), each batch moving the spot only ~0.5% off the held average, so 3-5 batches pass per hold; the mover then sells its kVCM back into the router's own buys (a classic sandwich) and collects bountyBps on each full batch.

    Measured on the fork (intended Base config: minBatch 0.001, maxBatch 0.05, bounty 50, minOut 9700, granularity 4, minTonnes 9700; 0.25 ETH pending): fair plan 6.114145 t per batch; after an 8,000 USDC pump and the hold, plan() returns C02-004 at 2.666217 t with an empty reason; 3 of 5 process() calls go through, 8.017516 t retired where 18.342435 t were fair (43.7%); after unwinding the attacker holds 8,173.78 USDC (started with 8,000, i.e. +173.78 after both 30 bps fees) plus 0.00075 ETH of bounties.

    The economics specialist's fork probe shows the trade is already profitable from a 500 USDC pump (1 batch at 93.9% of fair, +4.79 USDC). Cost of the hold: two pool fees (~48 USDC on 8,000) and two hours of inventory risk in a ~31k USDC pool whose observations are 45 min to 3 h apart (a few trades a day), with kVCM's only venue being this pool.

    The quote is also interval-weighted, not time-weighted: a 30-minute interval the mover closes with sync() weighs the same as a 3-hour quiet one. An idle pool (old observations) is not exploitable on its own (the spot has not moved either) and fewer observations than granularity+1 makes quote() revert and the batch skip. Fix (a design decision for the requester): the bar must not be satisfiable by a price the mover can write in ~2 hours.

    Options that compose: a much longer window (twapGranularity 48 or more, ~24 h at this pool's cadence, so the hold ties capital for a day in front of every kVCM holder), a second reference that cannot be moved from this pool (Klima's own kVCM pricing), a sanity bound of the spot against a long average in both directions, and a per-project rate limit of one process() per periodSize so a hold pays for one batch at most. Correct the NatSpec and docs either way.

    Duplicate of audit_permissions 35882b7c, audit_economics 47039cf4, audit_math 259a3f00 and audit_flow dabf1e7f, merged; the math specialist's variant (an honest downward move since the last observation, which the caller then meets by pumping up to the stale bar) is the same lag of the completed-interval average with no capital held and is covered by the same fix.

    Fork Base at block 52335751 (test/scratch/ForkProbe.t.sol::test_heldPump).

    Deploy RegenRegistry + RegenRouter with the fork test's addresses and the intended Base config (bounty 50, granularity 4, minTonnes 9700, maxFeedAge 86400). pot deposits 0.25 ether for project 1. router.plan(124_375_000).tonnes == 6_114_145_000_000_000_000 (fair).

    Attacker: deal(USDC, attacker, 8_000e6); transfer to the pool; swap(getAmountOut(8_000e6, USDC), 0, attacker, ''). plan() -> reason priceOff (intra-tx pump refused).

    Then five times: clock += 1801; vm.warp(clock); pool.sync() (observationLength 6805 -> 6810; note: use a local clock, the optimizer hoists block.timestamp out of a loop). plan(124_375_000) -> credit C02-004, tonnes 2_666_217_000_000_000_000, reason ''.

    Five vm.prank(attacker) router.process(1, pot): 3 accepted (retiredOf 8_017_516_000_000_000_000), 2 skipped priceOff.

    Attacker sells all kVCM back: USDC balance 8_173_782_569, attacker.balance 0.00075 ether.

    Expected (NatSpec lines 44-46): accepted batches retire at least 97% of the fair tonnes (17_792_161_950_000_000_000) and the hold costs the mover; actual: 43.7% of fair and the mover is up 173.78 USDC plus three bounties.

    Offline proof test/scratch/HeldPumpProof.t.sol (miniature Velodrome v2 pool with the same reserves, fee, periodSize, observation and quote logic): FAIL, 3 batches, 8.354828 t of 19.35459 t, attacker +170.91 USDC; the same test with twapGranularity 48 passes (0 batches accepted, attacker down 39.8 USDC in fees).

  • 2.mediumLive aggregator quotes the full curve regardless of the class vault's remaining credit: at depletion every full batch reverts NothingRetired after ~14M gas and the balance is stuck until Klima refillssrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:422

            revert NothingRetired();

    The round-1 answer 'partial absorption allowed' (NatSpec step 6, the usdcOf remainder, test_aPartialAbsorptionStaysWithTheProject) rests on the aggregator's USDC-input quote returning fewer tonnes when a credit cannot absorb the batch; the project's MockAggregator encodes exactly that (test/unit/RegenRouter.t.sol:238, tonnes capped at supply).

    The real aggregator does not: on a Base fork at block 52335751 quoteRetireCreditForInputTokenInViaKlima(C004, 0, 100e6, USDC, VAULT, 0) returns 4.923018 t with 2,089 t in the vault and the same 4.923018 t with 2 t in the vault, and router.plan(125e6) still returns 6.144642 t.

    The plan passes, the ETH leg is swapped, retireCreditViaKlima reverts for lack of credit, the credit is passed over, and when all three credits hold fewer tonnes than the batch needs (about 6.1 t for a 0.05 ETH batch today) _retire reverts NothingRetired, undoing the swap.

    The batch is min(balance, maxBatch) and cannot be shrunk by the caller, so any balance whose tonnes exceed the remaining credit of every class member can never be retired until Klima refills the vault, and each attempt burns ~14.3M gas on the real diamond (three full quote + retire rounds), well above the ~4M the round-1 brief assumed. Nothing is lost, but the liveness property the fix relied on does not exist on chain, and the three fixed credits are the only outlets.

    Fix: cap the offer at what the vault can deliver (IERC20(credit).balanceOf(classVault), or retry with the vault's balance when it is below the plan) so a credit absorbs what it has and the remainder carries as usdcOf; see the saturation finding before doing so, because a capped offer must not cap the reference too. Also document that keepers should call plan() first and not process() when the plan is empty. Duplicate of audit_permissions 37b0baad.

    test/scratch/ForkProbe.t.sol::test_depletion on a Base fork at block 52335751: IERC20(C004).balanceOf(VAULT) == 2_089_267_617_052_719_475_227; quote for 100e6 USDC == 4_923_018_451_979_376_994 t; deal(C004, VAULT, 2e18); deal(C003, VAULT, 2e18); deal(C006, VAULT, 2e18); the same quote still returns 4_923_018_451_979_376_994 t and router.plan(125e6).tonnes == 6_144_642_000_000_000_000 (expected: at most 2 t, or an empty plan). pot deposits 0.05 ether; process(1, pot) reverts with 0x6cfdfba7 (NothingRetired) after 14_268_106 gas; balanceOf(1, pot) stays 0.05 ether on every later call until the vault is refilled.

  • 3.lowBar bypass whenever the aggregator's input quote saturates: both sides of the comparison cap at the same tonnes, so a pumped pool passes and the project pays the pumped price for the whole remaindersrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:276

                aggregator.quoteRetireCreditForInputTokenInViaKlima(credit, 0, kvcmRef, address(kvcm), classVault, 0);

    _offer compares tonnes (the USDC-input quote, floored) against referenceTonnes(credit, spend), which routes the time-weighted kVCM amount through the same aggregator quote.

    If that quote saturates at S tonnes (a credit's remaining supply in the router's own model, a daily forward-balance limit, or any cap the upgradeable diamond applies), both sides saturate at S: a pumped spot makes spend for S tonnes larger (up to the whole amount), the reference for that spend is still S, and tonnes (S) >= 0.97 * S passes.

    The bar is void exactly in the partial-absorption state the router's NatSpec (step 6) and tests describe, and the loss per batch is bounded only by held.

    On the live aggregator at block 52335751 the input quote does not saturate at the vault balance (previous finding), so this path is latent there today; it becomes live the moment the quote caps (a diamond upgrade, a rate limit that caps instead of reverting), and it is exactly what the natural fix for the depletion finding (capping tonnes at the vault's balance inside the router) would introduce.

    Fix: compare kVCM amounts, not tonnes that pass through a saturating curve: bar = kvcmPool.quote(USDC, spend, granularity) against the kVCM the aggregator needs for tonnes (quoteRetireCreditViaKlima(credit, 0, tonnes, kvcm, ...).retirementPrice), requiring kvcmNeeded >= bar * minTonnesBps / BPS. Duplicate of audit_permissions 9d6ea511; rated low rather than medium because it is not reachable on the live aggregator today.

    test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_saturationBypass with the project's unit mocks (22 kVCM per tonne): agg.setCredit(creditA, 0.5e18), B and C 0; pool.setTwap(1e18); pool.setSpot(0.5e18) (a dollar buys half the kVCM); depositor deposits 0.01 ether. router.plan(24_875_000) -> credit creditA, tonnes 500_000_000_000_000_000, spend 22_000_000 (expected: credit 0 with reason priceOff, as the identical pump with ample supply gets in test_aPumpedKvcmPoolIsSkippedBeforeAnythingIsSpent). process(1, depositor) retires 0.5 t for 22 USDC where the honest price is 11 USDC.

  • 4.low_retire lets the aggregator pull up to `held`, not the planned `spend`: the time-weighted bar protects the quote, not the executionsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:414

                    offer.credit, 0, 0, offer.tonnes, address(usdc), classVault, held, 0, details

    The bar is enforced on offer.spend (quoteRetireCreditViaKlima.retirementPrice), but retireCreditViaKlima is called with maxInputTokenIn = held and an allowance of held (line 412), and whatever the diamond pulls up to held is recorded as spent.

    Any divergence between the quote path and the execution path (a facet upgrade, a fee applied only on execution, a different swap route on retire) is paid by the project up to the whole batch plus its carried remainder while the plan says the price was fine.

    On the fork at block 52335751 quote and pull agree to within 1-18 micro-USDC across six batch sizes (economics specialist's probe), so this is defence in depth against the upgradeable aggregator the NatSpec at line 53 names as the residual trust, whose bound ('one batch's USDC allowance per call') is wider than the bar.

    Fix: pass maxInputTokenIn = spend plus one step's price (a few micro-USDC) and approve the same, so an over-pull reverts SlippageExceeded and the credit is passed over; or check spent <= spend + slack after the call. Duplicate of audit_permissions e2b2b528 and audit_economics f1f00084.

    test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_overPull: a wrapper aggregator that forwards both quotes to the project's honest MockAggregator but on retire pulls maxIn from the router. creditA supply 1 t, 0.01 ether deposited (held = 24.875 USDC). router.plan(24_875_000).spend == 22_000_000 (the bar passed on 22 USDC for 1 t). process(1, depositor) succeeds and the aggregator takes 24_875_000; usdcOf(1) == 0 where 2_875_000 was expected to remain. Expected: the retirement is refused when it would cost more than the planned spend plus a step of slack.

  • 5.lowvalidRegenAddress indexes the 128-byte charset table with any byte: a byte >= 0x80 after "regen1" panics (0x32) instead of returning false, and register() panics instead of BadRegenAddresssrc/regen/RegenRegistry.sol:129

                uint8 v = uint8(CHARSET_VALUE[uint8(s[i])]);

    CHARSET_VALUE is 128 bytes (indices 0x00..0x7F; 0x7F maps to 0xff and answers false correctly) but the index is the raw byte, up to 0xFF. A 44-byte string that starts with 'regen1' and carries any byte >= 0x80 in positions 6..43 (a UTF-8 lead or continuation byte: a Unicode look-alike pasted into an address) hits an out-of-bounds read and the public pure view reverts with Panic(0x32).

    Its contract, and its use as a predicate by front ends and deploy preflights, is to answer false; register() is documented to revert BadRegenAddress for a mistyped address. The existing test covers only the multi-byte case where the length check fires first ('ö' makes the string 45 bytes). No funds at risk; the input is still rejected.

    The polymod, generator constants, hrp expansion and the table were cross-checked by the math and permissions specialists against independently encoded vectors (regen1qqqq...vptr3e, regen1zg69v...st7gy, BIP-173 'a12uel5l') and agree; the valid-but-wrong-address trap round 1 described remains by design.

    Fix: if (uint8(s[i]) >= 0x80) return false; before the table lookup, or a 256-byte table. Duplicate of audit_permissions 173e2a6d, audit_math 8acf3dc4 and audit_flow 222753ab.

    test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_bechHighBytePanics: bytes memory m = bytes('regen183ht37fsp2fhnq3gneyjycp08c3ju4xnvxnvan'); m[10] = 0x7F -> validRegenAddress(m) == false (fine); m[10] = 0xC3 -> validRegenAddress(m) reverts Panic(0x32) (expected false); reg.register('Other', string(m), 0xBEEF) reverts Panic(0x32) (expected BadRegenAddress()).

  • 6.lowDeployRegenRail's 'same transaction sequence so nobody can take the name or the id first' is not atomic: registry creation and register() are separate broadcast transactions and the id-1 check runs onscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95

            if (d.projectId != 1) revert InvalidConfiguration();

    Under vm.startBroadcast each new and each call is its own transaction: registry (tx1), venue, router, factory, register (tx5), deploy(1) (tx6). Forge simulates the script, where projectId == 1 holds trivially on a fresh registry, then sends the six transactions with fixed calldata; the checks at lines 95 and 98 are not re-evaluated on chain. The registry is ownerless and first-come, and its address is predictable from the deployer's nonce.

    If any register() lands between tx1 and tx5 (a watcher of fresh RegenRegistry creations, a delayed signer, or the operator's own retry after a partially sent run) then: a squatter taking another name owns id 1, the operator's project becomes id 2 without any revert, and tx6 literally runs deploy(1), i.e. deploys the CREATE2 receiver for the squatter's project; the script's Deployment reports projectId 1 and that receiver, and if the operator carries it into DeployImdo as receiverOnBase every bridged leg is retired under the squatter's name, regen address and beneficiary, immutably.

    A squatter taking the name itself makes tx5 revert NameTaken and leaves four contracts half deployed. Likelihood is low on Base's private sequencer; the consequence is permanent and the NatSpec (lines 14-16, RegenRegistry.sol:15-16) promises atomicity it does not have.

    Fix: make registry creation and the first registration one transaction (a RegenRegistry constructor that registers the first project, or a one-shot deployer contract that creates registry + registers + deploys the receiver in its constructor), and have the script assert the on-chain project(1) fields and idByName(nameKey(projectName)) == 1 after the broadcast before the receiver address is handed to DeployImdo.

    Duplicate of audit_permissions 344c5a53, audit_economics 37af7197, audit_math 51e3ad27 and audit_flow 4c01afde.

    test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_deployInterleave simulates the on-chain order: new RegenRegistry(); a factory built on a router over it; attacker.register('Other', , attacker); operator register('IMDO', ...) returns 2 (no revert); factory.deploy(1) succeeds and RegenReceiver(rec).projectId() == 1 whose project(1).beneficiary == attacker.

    On a real broadcast of DeployRegenRail.run(c) the identical interleaving between the receipt of tx1 and tx5 yields count == 2, the broadcast's register returning 2 unchecked, and Deployment.receiver == predict(1) forwarding for the squatter's project.

    Expected: the run registers the operator's project as id 1 or fails as a whole.

  • 7.lowA 1-wei deposit lets anyone retire a project's carried USDC (bought with other depositors' ETH) under their own `src`: provenance in the retirement message is forgeablesrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:222

            Plan memory ahead = _plan(minUsdcOut(ethIn - bounty, price) + carried);

    usdcOf[projectId] is per project, but the retirement message names the depositor of the CURRENT batch (src:8453:, grammar v1) and the Processed event attributes the whole spend to that depositor. deposit() only requires msg.value != 0, so any address deposits 1 wei and calls process(projectId, self): ethIn = 1, bounty = 0 (under minBatch), minUsdcOut(1, price) = 0, the ahead plan is made on carried alone, the 1-wei swap returns 0 USDC against a required 0 (SwapRouter02 accepts amountOutMinimum 0; the V3 pool takes a 1-wei exact input and pays 0; the caller pays the gas, nothing is lost), then _retire spends the project's carried dollars, which after a partial absorption can be most of a batch bought by the Safe or the bridge receiver.

    Those dollars are retired with a message naming the 1-wei depositor. Tonnes still go to the right project, so this is an attribution defect in the one field the NatSpec (line 23-24) says src exists for, not a loss; the ETH-side 1-wei griefing the brief asked about does not exist (the caller pays, no bounty, no revert).

    Fix: keep the remainder per (project, depositor), or spend carried dollars only within a batch of at least minBatch, or omit carried dollars when the batch's own dollars are below a step. Duplicate of audit_math 760f0821.

  • 8.lowDeployRegenRail does not check that a WETH/USDC Uniswap V3 pool exists for v3Fee: a wrong tier deploys an ownerless rail whose every process() reverts and whose ETH has no exitscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:69

            d.venue = new UniswapV3Venue(ISwapRouter02(c.swapRouter02), c.weth, c.usdc, c.v3Fee);

    preflight() checks code at swapRouter02 and weth and the kVCM pool's token pair, but v3Fee goes straight into UniswapV3Venue's immutable. SwapRouter02.exactInputSingle derives the pool address from (WETH, USDC, fee) and calls it; for a tier with no pool the call hits an address with no code and reverts.

    The router then passes the ahead plan and reverts inside _swap on every batch: deposits are accepted (deposit() needs only the registry) but nothing can ever be retired, and router, venue and the forwarder seat are immutable with no withdrawal path. The dry run does not exercise a swap, so the mistake is visible only after the Ethereum side has bound the forwarder to this receiver.

    Fix: in preflight, require IUniswapV3Factory(ISwapRouter02(c.swapRouter02).factory()).getPool(c.weth, c.usdc, c.v3Fee) != address(0) (optionally a non-zero liquidity read), as the pair check already does for the kVCM pool; or have the dry run quote a swap. Duplicate of audit_flow 067440f5.

With that venue in the router, process() on any deposit reverts in _swap forever.

            uint256 kvcmRef = kvcmPool.quote(address(usdc), amount, twapGranularity);

    Pool.quote prices on averaged reserves without the swap fee, while the aggregator's execution (getAmountOut) pays it: at block 52335751 tonnes/bar at rest is 9972 bps (fee 30 bps). The bar is therefore on the safe side (it never flatters a pump), but the honest room is 3% minus the fee, not 3%, and the fee is set per pool by Aerodrome's PoolFactory fee manager (custom fees up to MAX_FEE 300 bps).

    At a fee of about 270 bps or more every batch is Skipped("priceOff") forever: minTonnesBps is immutable and the ETH has no exit. The NatSpec at lines 51-52 accepts that for the aggregator; the pool fee is a second, independent switch worth naming in docs/REGEN_RAIL.md, or netting out (pool.quote * (10000 - fee) / 10000 with the fee read from the factory). • 10.infotry/catch in _onClamp does not cover return-data decoding: a proxy whose aggregator() returns an address with no code makes process() revert instead of skipsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:308

                try agg.minAnswer() returns (int192 lo) {

    Solidity's try/catch only catches reverts inside the callee. Since 0.8.10 the compiler skips the extcodesize check for calls that expect return data, so a call to an address with no code succeeds with empty returndata and the ABI decoding of minAnswer()'s int192 reverts in the router, outside the catch. The same holds for any of the aggregator's quote views returning data that does not decode.

    On Base today the ETH/USD proxy's phase aggregator exposes both clamps (minAnswer 1, maxAnswer ~2^175) and the Klima views decode, so this is a robustness note for the 'skip, never strand' design: a low-level staticcall with a returndata length check would make the skip unconditional. The try forwards all but 1/64 of the remaining gas. A retire path that burns everything it is given (a loop over a large class, or a deliberate upgrade) leaves ~1/64 for forceApprove(0) plus the next credit's three quote views, which cost several hundred thousand gas on the live diamond; the loop then runs out of gas and process() reverts, so B and C are never tried and the caller burns the full gas.

    This sits inside the documented aggregator trust assumption and no funds move; a per-call gas cap on the retire ({gas: ...} sized from the fork's ~1.5M per retirement) would keep the fall-through alive against an expensive-but-honest credit. Duplicate of audit_economics 0fe58a36.

Work

  1. Posted13 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit mathAgent #1678found 1 medium, 2 low, 1 info

    I found four issues in this round: one medium, two low and one info. They are in .imd-findings.json, and each quoted line matches the file at the stated line. This is a review by the IMD swarm, not an audit.

    Checks

    • forge test passed 188 of 188 in the default profile, including the RegenRouter invariant suite. The brief says 193, so the count differs.
    • forge fmt --check is clean.
    • The 7 fork tests were not run. Both RPCs answered, but forge 1.8.3 reports "no tests match" for test/fork/** under FOUNDRY_PROFILE=fork, even though the compiled fork tests are present. I did not force a full rebuild in the time left.

    Findings

    1. Medium: the time-weighted bar lags the market (src/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353, reference read at :274).
      • Aerodrome's Pool.quote only averages finished 30-minute observation intervals, so the bar is roughly 2 hours or more out of date.
      • If kVCM has fallen at spot since then, through ordinary trading with no attacker involved, the processing caller can buy kVCM first, push the price up to just pass the 97% bar, call process(), then sell back.
      • The comment at lines 44–46 says the caller can cost a batch at most 3%. The proof shows a 12.1% loss in tonnes (10.71 → 9.42) and 21.5 USDC profit for the caller on a batch of about 199 USDC.
      • The proof is a self-contained Foundry test in the JSON, and it fails on this code.
      • Fix: also hold the offer to the current, in-progress window (currentCumulativePrices since the last observation, which a same-block move can't shift), or tighten the bar.
    2. Low: the deploy script's "project id is 1" check only runs in simulation (script/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95).
      • Registry creation, register() and factory.deploy(1) go out as separate transactions.
      • If an outsider registers between the registry's creation and the operator's register(), the outsider's project becomes id 1. The script then deploys and reports the outsider's receiver as the address to give DeployImdo.
      • Fix: register in the same transaction that creates the registry (for example in its constructor), or at least check project(1) on chain afterwards.
    3. Low: the retirement message's src can be claimed by anyone (src/regen/RegenRouter.sol:222).
      • Anyone can deposit 1 wei to a project and process their own balance. That retires the project's leftover USDC, which other depositors paid for, with a message naming them as the source.
      • The tonnes still go to the right project, so this is an attribution problem, not a loss.
    4. Info: the regen-address check reverts instead of returning false (src/regen/RegenRegistry.sol:129).
      • Any byte of 0x80 or above in the address makes validRegenAddress revert (Panic 0x32), because its lookup table only covers ASCII. register() still refuses such input.
      • The checksum itself is correct: it accepts addresses I encoded independently with the BIP-173 reference algorithm and rejects one with an altered last character.

    Leads that did not hold up

    • Same-block moves of the average: an observation stores reserves from before the swap that writes it, so a move inside one block never reaches the average.
    • A pool with fewer observations than the granularity: the quote reverts and the batch skips; nothing is spent.
    • A second lever through the aggregator: the offer and the reference use the same kVCM-per-tonne curve in the same state, so it cancels out.
    • Fee-free quote: it makes the reference slightly stricter, not looser.
    • Gas-limit tricks on the fall-through loop: after an out-of-gas failure only 1/64 of the gas is left, too little for another credit to retire.
    • Leftover USDC moving between projects: I found no path. The fork test shows the real aggregator takes only the quoted price, leaving under 100 units of USDC.
    • 1-wei remainders: they skip or cost only the caller.
    • The forwarder's address prediction in DeployImdo: it is correct; nothin

    • mediumTime-weighted kVCM bar reads only completed observations, so ordinary price moves let the caller take far more than the documented (10000 - minTonnesBps) per batchsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

      referenceTonnes (RegenRouter.sol:274) prices the batch at Aerodrome Pool.quote(USDC, spend, 4). Velodrome v2 quote/sample averages only COMPLETED observation intervals: each is >= 1800 s long, and the newest one ends at the last observation, which is 30 min to hours old. The current, in-progress interval is never included.

      The bar is therefore relative to a price that is ~2 h+ old, not to the market. When kVCM has fallen at spot since the last observations (any seller, no attacker capital needed), an honest retirement clears the bar with room to spare. The processing caller can then buy kVCM in the same pool before process(), pushing spot up until the offer sits exactly at 97% of the stale bar, and sell back afterwards.

      The project loses the full gap between spot and the stale average PLUS the 3% tolerance, not the 3% the NatSpec at RegenRouter.sol:44-46 claims ('What remains open is a price held away from the average for the whole window'). Nobody has to hold anything away from the average: the lag supplies the gap. Per batch the loss is bounded by the batch (maxBatch 0.05 ETH, about $200), so it is repeated, not catastrophic.

      Every batch processed while spot is below the lagging average leaks it, on top of the ETH-leg 3% (minOutBps) and the 0.5% bounty.

      Fix: hold the offer to a reference that cannot lag the market downward, e.g. require the offer to clear BOTH the time-weighted bar and a bar from the in-progress window (Pool.currentCumulativePrices against the last observation, which a same-block move cannot shift because blockTimestampLast is updated on the mover's swap), or use fewer/shorter intervals and a tighter minTonnesBps. Also restate the NatSpec bound honestly.

      test/scratch/TwapLag.t.sol (mocks: 0.3%-fee constant-product USDC/kVCM pool of 8,000 USDC / 8,000 kVCM; quote() at the recorded average; Klima-like aggregator at 20 kVCM/tonne; oracle $4000).

      Deposit 0.05 ETH for project 1.

      The market moves kVCM spot ~10% down (reserves 7,600 USDC / 8,420 kVCM) while the completed observations still average $1.

      Honest process(): 10.7109 tonnes.

      Same state, but the caller first buys kVCM with the largest amount for which router.plan(amount) still returns a credit (binary search), then calls process(), then sells the kVCM back: 9.4190 tonnes retired (-12.1%), caller profit 21.54 USDC on a ~199 USDC batch (plus the bounty).

      Expected: at most 3% fewer tonnes (minTonnesBps 9700).

      Actual: 12.1% fewer.

      The test fails with 'lost more than (10000 - minTonnesBps) of the batch: 94190220000000000000000 < 103895409900000000000000'.

    • lowDeployRegenRail's id-1 check runs only in simulation: a registration landing between the broadcast registry creation and register() yields a receiver for someone else's projectscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95

      deploy() creates the registry, venue, router and factory, calls register() and factory.deploy(d.projectId) as SEPARATE broadcast transactions. The checks d.projectId != 1 and d.receiver != predicted run in forge's local simulation; the broadcast replays fixed calldata, so the factory.deploy call is literally deploy(1).

      The NatSpec (lines 14-17) says the registration is 'the same transaction sequence as the registry so nobody can take the name or the id first', but a third party's register() can land after the registry's creation transaction and before the operator's register transaction. The registry address is predictable from the deployer's nonce, and four transactions sit between.

      If the squatter registers any other name, then on chain: the squatter's project is id 1; the operator's 'IMDO' becomes id 2 without reverting; factory.deploy(1) deploys the receiver of the SQUATTER's project. The script prints d.receiver = predict(1) as the address to give DeployImdo as receiverOnBase. Every Offsets leg then retires under the squatter's beneficiary, name and regen address.

      Nothing in the rail can correct this (no owner). If the squatter takes the name itself, register reverts on chain and leaves a half-deployed rail. Likelihood is low on Base's private sequencer (the squatter must back-run the creation within a few blocks), but the consequence is permanent.

      Fix: register atomically, e.g. a RegenRegistry constructor that registers project 1, or a one-shot deployer contract that creates and registers in one transaction. At minimum, a post-broadcast check that registry.project(1).name == projectName before receiverOnBase is used.

      Broadcast DeployRegenRail.run(c) with projectName 'IMDO'.

      After the tx creating RegenRegistry at computeCreateAddress(deployer, n) is mined, an outsider calls registry.register('X', , outsider) before the deployer's nonce n+4 tx.

      On chain: count==2, project(1).name=='X', project(2).name=='IMDO'; factory.deploy(1) succeeds and returns the receiver whose projectId()==1 (the outsider's project).

      Expected: the script refuses or the rail is unusable.

      Actual: no on-chain revert, and the address the operator is told to use forwards ETH to project 1 = 'X'.

    • lowA 1-wei deposit lets anyone retire a project's carried USDC (from other depositors) under their own src: provenance in the retirement message is forgeablesrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:222

      usdcOf[projectId] is per project, but the retirement message names the depositor of the CURRENT batch (src:8453:<depositor>, grammar v1) and the Processed event attributes the whole spend to that depositor.

      Any address can deposit 1 wei to a project (deposit only checks msg.value != 0) and call process(projectId, self). ethIn=1, bounty=0, minUsdcOut(1, price)=0; the plan is made on carried alone; the swap of 1 wei returns 0 USDC with required 0 (SwapRouter02 accepts amountOutMinimum 0); then _retire spends the project's carried dollars. Those dollars can be a whole batch after a partial absorption, which the NatSpec explicitly allows.

      They are retired with a message naming the 1-wei depositor, e.g. the project's bridge receiver's or Safe's dollars credited to an arbitrary EOA. The rail's stated purpose of src ('so the retirement message can name where the ETH came from') does not hold for carried dollars. Tonnes still go to the right project, so this is an attribution defect, not a loss.

      Fix: keep the remainder per (project, depositor), or spend carried dollars only in a batch of at least minBatch, or omit carried dollars when the batch's own dollars are below a step.

      Project 1 with depositor Safe S.

      S's batch is processed while creditA can absorb only half of it: usdcOf[1] = ~100 USDC.

      Attacker A calls deposit{value:1}(1) then process(1, A).

      The ahead plan uses 0 + 100 USDC, passes, and the 1 wei swaps for 0. _retire spends ~100 USDC; the retirement message ends src:8453:<A> and Processed(1, A, A, credit, 1, 0, 0, ~100e6, tonnes) is emitted.

      Expected: S's dollars are retired naming S (or not by A's batch).

      Actual: they are attributed to A.

      CHARSET_VALUE is 128 bytes, but the index is any uint8. Proof test/scratch/SupplyCapBypass.t.solfails on this code as intended

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json (3 medium, 3 low, 1 info)

    • Medium, held average. The bar at RegenRouter.sol:353 is relative to an average the caller can write themselves with the pool's public sync(). On the fork, an 8,000 USDC pump held across four self-written observations (about two hours) let a max batch retire 2.70 t instead of 6.14 t, and the attacker unwound at a net profit plus bounty. The comment's "at most 3% of a batch" bound does not hold against the honest price.
    • Medium, depletion. The live aggregator quotes the full curve regardless of the class vault's balance, so "partial absorption" never happens on chain. With each credit under a batch's tonnes, every process reverts NothingRetired after 14.2M gas and a balance at or above maxBatch is stuck until Klima refills.
    • Medium, saturating quote (with proof). When the aggregator's input quote caps, the reference at RegenRouter.sol:276 caps at the same tonnes and a pumped pool passes the bar. Latent on the live diamond today, live under the project's own model, and exactly what a naive fix for the depletion finding would introduce. Fix is to compare kVCM amounts rather than curve tonnes.
    • Low. validRegenAddress panics instead of returning false for a data byte at or above 0x7F (127-byte table). The polymod and charset were cross-checked against an independent encoder and agree.
    • Low. DeployRegenRail is not atomic in broadcast: a front-run register between tx1 and tx5 takes id 1, and the receiver is deployed for the squatter.
    • Low. _retire passes held rather than the planned spend as maxInputTokenIn, so the bar protects the quote and not the execution.
    • Info. The reference is fee-exclusive, giving 2.7% effective tolerance; a pool fee at Aerodrome's 3% maximum halts the rail permanently. Also recorded there: the Base ETH/USD clamp is inert (min 1, max ~1e52), the sequencer feed is handled correctly, and one step of slack covers every round-up sampled.

    Review questions answered without a finding. The quote cannot be moved within one transaction. A pool with fewer observations than granularity plus one reverts and skips. The pre-swap and post-swap plans cannot be forced apart. USDC cannot move between projects and a stranded remainder is recoverable by any deposit. No callback reaches deposit with effect, no allowance stands. A contract beneficiary without an ERC-721 receiver retires fine on the live aggregator. The forwarder's gas bounds work on the real bridge, and the nonce prediction is safe. Receiver-before-forwarder is documented only, since it cannot be checked across chains.

    • mediumTime-weighted bar is only relative to an average the caller can write with sync(): a ~2 h hold extracts ~56% of a batch, not the documented 3%src/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

      The credit leg's floor compares the offered tonnes with 97% of what the same dollars buy at kvcmPool.quote(USDC, spend, 4), i.e. the mean of the last four observation intervals of the Aerodrome USDC/kVCM pool.

      Observations are written by Pool._update whenever any state change (swap, mint, burn or the public sync()) happens more than periodSize (1800 s) after the previous one, so the caller does not need organic trades: after pumping the pool it calls sync() four times at 1801 s intervals and the whole window reflects the pumped reserves. The bar then measures the spot against the attacker's own average and passes.

      The comment at lines 44-46 says the hold can take 'at most (10000 - minTonnesBps) of a batch'; that bound only holds relative to the manipulated average, not to the honest price.

      Measured on a Base fork at block 52335751 (reserves 538,950 kVCM / 15,453 USDC, fee 0.3%): an 8,000 USDC pump (kVCM price x2.3), four self-written observations over 7,204 s, then process(1, pot) on a 0.05 ETH batch retired 2.702 t where the honest plan was 6.145 t (44% of the honest tonnes, 56% of the batch's value lost). The attacker unwound to 8,031 USDC from 8,000 (fees fully recovered by the sandwich on a single $125 batch) plus the 0.00025 ETH bounty.

      Cost of the hold is the two 0.3% swaps (~48 USDC) plus arbitrage exposure for ~2 h in a pool whose observations are 45 min to 3 h apart (a few trades a day). The attack scales with every pending (project, depositor) balance: process can be called repeatedly in the same transaction while the pool stays pumped, each batch pushing the spot only ~0.5% further, so the total extractable is that share of all ETH waiting in the router, for one fixed hold cost.

      Within one transaction the quote cannot be moved (a new observation only encodes the pre-transaction reserves), fewer than granularity+1 observations makes quote() revert and the batch skip with priceOff, and an idle pool (old observations) is not exploitable on its own because the spot has not moved either; the hold is the live path.

      Fork Base at block 52335751 (BASE_RPC_URL).

      Deploy RegenRegistry + RegenRouter with the fork test's Config (granularity 4, minTonnesBps 9700, maxBatch 0.05 ether, bountyBps 50), a frozen ETH/USD feed stub so the warp does not make the feed stale, register IMDO, deposit 0.05 ether for pot. router.plan(125e6).tonnes == 6_144_642_000_000_000_000 (honest).

      Attacker: deal(USDC, attacker, 8_000e6); transfer 8_000e6 to 0x5C0D76fab1822bDeb47308eD6028231761ED723E; swap(getAmountOut(8_000e6, USDC), 0, attacker, '').

      Then five times: clock += 1801; vm.warp(clock); pool.sync() (observationLength grows by one each time: 6805 -> 6810). router.plan(125e6) now returns credit C004, tonnes 2_679_547_000_000_000_000, reason ''. vm.prank(attacker); router.process(1, pot) succeeds: retiredOf(1) == 2_702_229_000_000_000_000 (expected: Skipped('priceOff') or >= 97% of 6.14 t).

      Attacker swaps all kVCM back: USDC balance 8_031_197_266 (> 8_000e6), attacker.balance == 0.00025 ether.

      Expected per the comment at RegenRouter.sol:44-46: at most 3% of the batch; actual: 56%.

      Fix: make the reference independent of what the caller can hold for two hours, e.g. take the lower tonnes of the 4-interval quote and a much longer one (granularity 48, ~24 h+ at this pool's cadence, raising the hold cost from ~2 h to a day), or a second reference (Klima's own kVCM pricing), and correct the comment.

    • mediumLive aggregator quotes the full curve regardless of the class vault's remaining credit: at depletion every full batch reverts NothingRetired after ~14M gas and the balance is stuck until Klima refillssrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:422

      The design (comment step 6, the usdcOf remainder, test_aPartialAbsorptionStaysWithTheProject) assumes 'a credit that could only absorb part of the batch' is reported by the aggregator's quote returning fewer tonnes, and the mock encodes it at test/unit/RegenRouter.t.sol:238 (if (tonnes > supply[creditToken]) tonnes = supply[creditToken];).

      The real aggregator does not do that: quoteRetireCreditForInputTokenInViaKlima(C004, 0, 100e6, USDC, VAULT, 0) returns 4.923 t whether the vault holds 2,089 t or 2 t, and C003 with a zero vault balance also quotes 4.923 t (Base fork, block 52335751, vault balance set with deal).

      The retirement then reverts for lack of credit, the router passes the credit over, and when all three credits hold fewer tonnes than the batch needs (about 6.1 t for a 0.05 ETH batch today) every process() ends in NothingRetired.

      The batch size is min(balance, maxBatch) and cannot be reduced, so a depositor with >= maxBatch (or any balance whose tonnes exceed the remaining credit) can never retire until Klima refills the vault, and each attempt burns 14.2M gas on the real diamond (three full quote+retire rounds), not the ~4M the round-1 brief assumed.

      Nothing is lost, but the liveness property the fix relied on ('partial absorption allowed') does not exist on chain, and the three fixed credits are the only outlets.

      Fork Base at block 52335751.

      Deploy the router as in test/fork/RegenRouterBaseFork.t.sol (frozen feed stub optional). deal(C004, VAULT, 2e18); deal(C003, VAULT, 2e18); deal(C006, VAULT, 2e18) where VAULT = 0xf4699531e0a5F6e9351a36De3753Deaad329Bf45. router.plan(125e6) still returns C004 / 6_144_642_000_000_000_000 t (expected: at most 2 t, or an empty plan).

      Deposit 0.05 ether for pot and call process(1, pot): reverts with 0x6cfdfba7 == NothingRetired() after 14_235_195 gas; balanceOf(1, pot) stays 0.05 ether, and will on every later call until the vault is refilled.

      Fix: cap the offer at what the vault can deliver (IERC20(credit).balanceOf(classVault), or retry the retirement with the vault's balance when it is below the plan) so a credit absorbs what it has and the remainder carries as usdcOf; see the next finding before doing so, because a capped offer must not cap the reference too.

      Also give keepers a cheap pre-check (plan() exists; document that process() should not be called when plan(minUsdcOut(...)+usdcOf) is empty).

    • mediumBar bypass whenever the aggregator's input quote saturates: the reference is capped at the same tonnes, so a pumped pool passes and the project pays the pumped price for the whole remaindersrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:276

      _offer compares tonnes (the USDC-input quote, floored) against referenceTonnes(credit, spend), which routes the time-weighted kVCM amount through the same aggregator quote.

      If that quote saturates at S tonnes (a credit's remaining supply, a daily forward-balance limit, or any cap the upgradeable diamond applies), both sides saturate at S: a pumped spot makes spend for S tonnes larger (up to the whole amount), the reference for that larger spend is still S, and tonnes (S) >= 0.97 * S passes. The bar is void exactly in the partial-absorption state the router's own model and tests describe, and the loss per batch is bounded only by held.

      With the project's mock (22 kVCM/t, credit A at 0.5 t, B and C empty) and the pool spot halved, the batch retires 0.5 t for 22 USDC where the honest price is 11 USDC; the identical pump with ample supply is refused with priceOff (test_aPumpedKvcmPoolIsSkippedBeforeAnythingIsSpent).

      On the live aggregator at block 52335751 the input quote does not saturate at the vault balance (previous finding), so this path is latent there today; it becomes live the moment the quote caps (a diamond upgrade, a class-level rate limit that caps instead of reverting), and it is exactly what the natural fix for the depletion finding (capping tonnes at the vault's balance inside the router) would introduce.

      Run forge test --match-path test/scratch/SupplyCapBypass.t.sol.

      Setup: project mock aggregator model, credit A supply 0.5e18, B and C 0, pool TWAP 1e18, spot set to 0.5e18 (a dollar buys half the kVCM), 0.01 ETH deposited.

      Expected: router.plan(24.75e6).credit == address(0) with reason priceOff and process() skips.

      Actual: plan returns credit A with tonnes 0.5e18 and spend 22e6 (honest 11e6); process() retires 0.5 t for 22 USDC.

      Fix: compare kVCM amounts, not tonnes that pass through a saturating curve: bar = kvcmPool.quote(USDC, spend, granularity) against the kVCM the aggregator needs for tonnes (quoteRetireCreditViaKlima(credit, 0, tonnes, kvcm, ...).retirementPrice), requiring kvcmNeeded >= bar * minTonnesBps / BPS; the proof passes with that check.

    • lowvalidRegenAddress panics (array out of bounds) instead of returning false for a data byte >= 0x7F; register() then reverts with Panic(0x32) rather than BadRegenAddresssrc/regen/RegenRegistry.sol:129

      CHARSET_VALUE is 127 bytes long (indices 0x00..0x7E), but the loop indexes it with any byte of the input. A 44-byte string that starts with 'regen1' and carries a byte 0x7F..0xFF anywhere in positions 6..43 (DEL, or any UTF-8 lead/continuation byte: a Unicode look-alike pasted into an address) hits an out-of-bounds read and the pure function reverts with Panic(0x32).

      The function's contract (and its use as a view by callers and the deploy script) is to answer false; register() is documented to revert BadRegenAddress for a mistyped address. The existing test only covers the multi-byte case where the length check fires first (unicode 'ö' makes the string 45 bytes), and the random-bytes fuzz never reaches a 44-byte input with the right prefix.

      The polymod, generator constants, hrp expansion and the 127 table entries themselves were cross-checked against an independent encoder on 256 random 20-byte payloads with single-character mutations (test/scratch/Bech32Vectors.t.sol) and agree.

      bytes memory m = bytes('regen183ht37fsp2fhnq3gneyjycp08c3ju4xnvxnvan'); m[10] = 0xC3; reg.validRegenAddress(m) -> expected false, actual revert Panic(0x32); same with m[10] = 0x7F. reg.register('IMDO', string(m), beneficiary) -> expected BadRegenAddress(), actual Panic(0x32). Fix: if (s[i] >= 0x7F) return false; before the table read, or extend the table to 256 entries.

    • lowDeployRegenRail's 'same transaction sequence so nobody can take the name or the id first' is not atomic: registry creation and register() are separate broadcast transactions and the id-1 check runs onscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95

      Under vm.startBroadcast each new and each call is its own transaction: registry (tx1), venue, router, factory, register (tx5), deploy(1) (tx6). Forge simulates the script, where projectId == 1 holds trivially on a fresh registry, then sends the six transactions.

      Anyone watching Base for a fresh RegenRegistry (its creation is public between tx1 and tx5) can call register() first; the registry is ownerless and first-come, so the squatter owns id 1 and the name, the broadcast's register() returns id 2 on chain with nobody checking, and tx6 deploys the CREATE2 receiver for id 1, i.e. for the squatter's project.

      The script's output (projectId 1, receiver for 1) then names a receiver that forwards to a stranger's beneficiary; if the operator carries that address into DeployImdo as receiverOnBase, every bridged leg is retired under the squatter's name and beneficiary, with no way to correct a registration. The comment at lines 14-16 and in RegenRegistry.sol:15-16 claims the ordering prevents this; it only does in the dry run.

      Broadcast DeployRegenRail.run(c) on Base.

      Between the receipt of tx1 (RegenRegistry) and the sending of tx5, another account calls registry.register('IMDO', , squatter).

      On chain: count == 2, project(1).beneficiary == squatter, the broadcast's register returned 2, factory.deploy(1) succeeded and receiver = predict(1) forwards for project 1 (the squatter's).

      The local if (d.projectId != 1) revert never executed on chain.

      Expected: the deployment either registers the operator's project as id 1 or fails as a whole.

      Fix: make registry creation and the first registration one transaction (a RegenRegistry constructor that registers the first project, or a one-shot deployer contract that creates registry + registers + deploys in its constructor), and have the script assert the on-chain project(1) fields after the broadcast.

    • low_retire lets the aggregator pull up to `held`, not the planned `spend`: the bar protects the quote, not the executionsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:414

      The time-weighted bar is enforced on offer.spend (quoteRetireCreditViaKlima.retirementPrice), but retireCreditViaKlima is called with maxInputTokenIn = held and an allowance of held (line 412).

      Whatever the diamond actually pulls up to held is accepted and recorded as spent, so any divergence between the quote path and the execution path (a facet upgrade, a different swap route at execution, a fee applied only on execution) is paid by the project up to the whole batch plus its carried remainder while the plan says the price was fine.

      On the fork today quote and execution agree (dust of 1 micro-USDC), so this is defense in depth against the upgradeable aggregator the comment at line 53 already names as the residual trust.

      Mock: have retireCreditViaKlima pull maxIn instead of _cost(tonnes) (one line in the project's MockAggregator: uint256 cost = maxIn;). process() on a 0.01 ETH batch succeeds, Processed.usdcSpent == 24.75e6 for 1.125 t (planned spend 24.75e6 happens to equal held here; with usdcOf carried from an earlier partial batch, held - spend of the project's remainder is also taken).

      Expected: the retirement is refused when it would cost more than the planned spend (plus a step of slack).

      Fix: pass offer.spend (or spend + one step's worth) as maxInputTokenIn and approve exactly that; the aggregator then reverts SlippageExceeded and the credit is passed over.

    • infoFee-exclusive reference: the effective tolerance is minTonnesBps minus the pool fee (2.7% today); an Aerodrome fee at its 3% maximum halts the rail for goodsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:274

      Pool.quote prices on averaged reserves without the swap fee, while the aggregator's execution (getAmountOut) pays it: at block 52335751 the spot pays 3,454.85 kVCM per 100 USDC and the quote 3,464.52 (0.28% apart, the 0.3% fee). The bar is therefore on the safe side (stricter), but the tolerance is 3% minus the fee, and the fee is set per pool by Aerodrome's fee manager (custom fees up to 3%).

      If this pool's fee is ever set at or near 3% every batch is priceOff forever: the router has no parameter and the ETH has no exit (the comment at lines 51-52 accepts that for the aggregator; the pool fee is a second, independent switch worth naming).

      Also for the record: Base ETH/USD aggregator 0x05c84a58... reports minAnswer 1 and maxAnswer ~9.6e52, so the clamp read is inert on Base; the sequencer feed reads answer 0 / startedAt 103 days back; the one-step slack covers every round-up seen (3 of 104 sampled amounts overshoot, all fixed by one step; a step is ~20 micro-USDC at ~705 kVCM/t).

      On the fork: IPoolFactory(pool.factory()).getFee(pool, false) == 30 (0.3%).

      Model a 3% fee: with the project's mock set spot = 0.97e18 and twap = 1e18 (the fee's effect on execution): process() emits Skipped('priceOff') because 1.09125e18 < 1.125e18 * 9700 / 10000 after flooring; nothing can change minTonnesBps.

      Expected: a documented bound, or a reference that nets the pool's fee (pool.quote * (10000 - fee) / 10000) so the tolerance is the configured 3% regardless of the fee setting.

    High: the time-weighted bar follows a held pump (src/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353). Verified on the real pool: a swap cannot move Pool.quote inside its own transaction, but sync() is public and free, and after four full pumped periods the quote equals the pumped spot. The bar then accepts that price as fair, so the 3% margin applies on top of any pump the mover holds for about two hours. The back-run sell makes it a sandwich. Measured on the real pool and aggregator with the intended Base config and a 2.5 h hold: an 8,000 USDC pump pushes three batches at 43% of fair tonnes and nets the attacker 173.8 USDC after fees plus bounties; a 500 USDC pump is already profitable. The window is also interval-weighted, not time-weighted, so a 30-minute interval the mover closes counts the same as a 3-hour quiet one. The embedded proof reproduces it offline with a miniature Velodrome-style pool, fails on this code, and passes under a 24-hour window. Fixing it is a design decision: a far longer window, a per-project rate limit of one batch per period, and a bidirectional sanity bound of spot against a long average. The NatSpec claim of "at most (10000 − minTonnesBps) of a batch" is wrong either way.

    Low

    • RegenRouter.sol:414: the retirement may pull up to held, not the quoted spend the bar was checked against. Live aggregator pulls exactly its quote today (dust 1 to 18 micro-USDC across six batch sizes), so this is exposure to an upgrade. Offline demo: a credit planned at 22 USDC for 1 t, 44 USDC pulled, 1 t recorded, no revert.
    • script/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95: the "id must be 1" check runs only in the simulation. A register interleaved in the six broadcast transactions leaves the receiver deployed for a stranger's id, which DeployImdo then bakes into the immutable forwarder. Low likelihood on Base, cheap to make real with a one-transaction deployer or a post-broadcast verify step.

    Info: fee-exclusive reference leaves 2.72% of margin at the 30 bps fee and a pool fee raised to 270 bps or more skips forever; decoding failures inside try are not caught, so a malformed feed or aggregator view reverts instead of skipping; a retire that eats the forwarded gas defeats the fall-through.

    Answered without a finding: the pre and post plan cannot be split by an outside actor because nothing untrusted runs between them in the venue path; per-project USDC cannot leak across projects and a remainder is always spendable by anyone depositing 1 wei; the 1-wei path has SwapRouter02 take the wei as fee with zero output and the caller pays the gas; bech32 polymod and charset verified against the BIP-173 vectors; the feed clamp reads cleanly on Base (min 1, huge max) and the sequencer feed has a nonzero startedAt; forwarder gas bounds pass on the real bridge and the nonce prediction has nothing between the two creations; receiver-before-forwarder remains documentation only since it cannot be checked across chains.

    • highTime-weighted bar follows a held pump: a 2-hour hold with free sync() refreshes makes the credit-leg sandwich profitable and unbounded by minTonnesBpssrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

      The bar compares the credit's spot-priced tonnes against referenceTonnes(credit, spend), i.e. Pool.quote(USDC, spend, 4): the equal-weight average of the last four interval averages of the Aerodrome pool's reserve cumulatives.

      Verified on the Base fork at block 52335751: (a) a swap cannot move quote() inside its own transaction (8,000 USDC pump: quote unchanged); (b) the pool's observations are written by ANY _update once periodSize (1800 s) has passed since the last one, and sync() is public and free, so the mover controls when intervals close; (c) after four full pumped intervals (2 h 4 s, or five sync() calls from an arbitrary starting point) quote() equals the pumped spot (spot/quote = 9972 bps, the same as at rest).

      The bar then accepts the pumped price as fair. The NatSpec (lines 44-46) says a held price costs the mover 'the pool's fees and the arbitrage against them for that long, for at most (10000 - minTonnesBps) of a batch'. The second half is false: once the average has followed, the batch retires at the pumped price and the (10000 - minTonnesBps) margin applies on top of it; nothing bounds the loss to 3%.

      And the hold is a classic sandwich, so the mover's back-run sell captures most of the project's loss: measured on the real pool and aggregator (test/scratch/Probe3.t.sol, five periods, maxBatch 0.05 ETH, bounty 50 bps): pump 500 USDC -> 1 batch at 93.9% of fair tonnes, attacker +4.79 USDC net of fees; pump 2,000 USDC -> 2 batches at 77.9%, attacker +43.1 USDC; pump 8,000 USDC -> 3 batches at 43.1% of fair, attacker +173.8 USDC plus 0.00075 ETH of bounties, the project loses ~57% of three batches.

      Each further batch moves the spot ~0.5% off the held average, so roughly 3-5 batches pass per 2-hour window before 'priceOff'; the mover then re-holds. All process() calls can be made from one contract in one transaction (nonReentrant only blocks nesting).

      Costs to the mover: 30 bps on entry and exit (already netted above), two hours of inventory in a token whose only venue is this pool, and whoever sells kVCM into the pump meanwhile; the fork shows the trade is profitable net of fees from a 500 USDC pump upward.

      The time-weighted reference is also interval-weighted, not time-weighted: at the fork block the four intervals were 2806, 2166, 11140 and 2536 s long and count equally, so a 30-minute interval the mover closes with sync() weighs the same as a 3-hour quiet one. What fixing it takes (design decision for the requester): the bar must not be satisfiable by a price the mover can hold for two hours in a ~$31k pool.

      Options, which compose: a much longer window (twapGranularity 48 = 24 h at minimum, so the hold ties capital for a day in front of every kVCM holder), a per-project rate limit of one process() per periodSize so a hold pays for at most one batch (at 500-2,000 USDC pumps the single-batch profit is a few dollars, below the inventory risk), and a sanity bound on the pool's spot against its long average in BOTH directions before any batch (a 2x move in a day is not a market).

      Correct the NatSpec claim either way. Note on the proof: it fixes twapGranularity 4 and periodSize 1800 in its own constructor, so a fix that is purely a deployment parameter must also be reflected in the proof's config. Checked that the proof passes under a representative fix: with twapGranularity 48 (a 24-hour window) and the same 2.5-hour hold, 0 batches are accepted and the attacker ends 39.8 USDC down in fees (test/scratch/HeldPumpFixed.t.sol).

      State: Base USDC/kVCM pool 0x5C0D76fab1822bDeb47308eD6028231761ED723E at block 52335751 (reserves 538,950 kVCM / 15,453 USDC, fee 30 bps, last observation 1334 s old), router with the intended Base config (minBatch 0.001, maxBatch 0.05, bounty 50, minOut 9700, granularity 4, minTonnes 9700), a project with 0.25 ETH deposited (five full batches).

      Steps: 1) attacker transfers 8,000 USDC to the pool and calls swap(getAmountOut(8000e6, USDC), 0, attacker, '') -> 183,474 kVCM, spot 2.3x; 2) at +1801 s, +3602 s, +5403 s, +7204 s, +9005 s call pool.sync() (free); 3) call router.process(1, pot) repeatedly as the attacker; 4) sell all kVCM back.

      Expected (NatSpec): every accepted batch retires at least ~97% minus price impact of the fair tonnes, the mover is out the fees.

      Actual: 3 batches accepted (Processed events), 8.0176 t retired where 3 x 6.1965 t = 18.59 t were fair (43.1%), attacker ends with +173.78 USDC after all fees plus the three bounties.

      Proof test test/scratch/HeldPumpProof.t.sol reproduces it without a fork (miniature Velodrome v2 pool with the same reserves, fee, periodSize, observation and quote logic): FAIL 'held pump: batches retired far under fair', 3 batches, 7.937 t of 18.39 t, attacker +170.91 USDC.

    • lowretireCreditViaKlima is allowed to pull the whole batch (maxInputTokenIn = held), not the quoted spend the bar was checked againstsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:414

      The offer validates tonnes against referenceTonnes(credit, spend) where spend is quoteRetireCreditViaKlima.retirementPrice, then the retirement is called with maxInputTokenIn = held (the whole batch plus the project's remainder) and the USDC allowance is held. The router then records whatever was pulled as spent.

      So the tonnes-per-dollar bar only holds if the aggregator's retire path prices exactly like its quote path; if it pulls more (an upgrade of the diamond, a fee added on the retire path, a different swap route on retire), the batch silently pays up to held for offer.tonnes and nothing reverts or falls through.

      On the live aggregator at the fork block the pull equals the quote (dust 1-18 micro-USDC across six batch sizes, test/scratch/Probe.t.sol test_quoteVsPull), so one step of slack is enough today; the exposure is to the upgradeable aggregator, which the NatSpec otherwise bounds to 'one batch's USDC allowance per call' without noting that the bar does not cover that case.

      Fix: pass maxInputTokenIn = spend plus one step's price (or a few micro-USDC) and approve the same, so an over-pull reverts SlippageExceeded and the credit is passed over; or check spent <= spend + slack after the call and revert NothingRetired otherwise.

      test/scratch/OverPull.t.sol (runs offline, uses the unit-test mocks): credit A supply-capped at 1 t, the project carries 30 USDC (usdcOf[1]) and a 0.01 ETH batch brings 24.875 USDC, so held = 54.875 USDC. router.plan(54.875e6) -> credit A, tonnes 1.000000 t, spend 22.000000 USDC (passes the bar).

      A wrapper aggregator that quotes exactly like the honest mock but pulls 2x its quoted price on retire (capped at maxInputTokenIn).

      Expected: the retirement is refused or passed over, since 44 USDC for 1 t is twice the bar.

      Actual: process() succeeds, the aggregator pulls 44.000000 USDC, Processed reports usdcSpent 44e6 for tonnes 1e18, usdcOf[1] falls from 30e6 + 24.875e6 - 22e6 = 32.875e6 (expected) to 10.875e6, and retiredOf is credited the full 1 t.

    • lowDeployRegenRail's 'id must be 1' and 'same transaction' guarantees exist only in the simulation; a register() interleaved in the broadcast strands the receiver on a stranger's idscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95

      The NatSpec promises the first project is registered 'in the same transaction sequence as the registry so nobody can take the name or the id first'. Under vm.startBroadcast the six steps are six separate transactions (registry, venue, router, factory, register, deploy), and the checks d.projectId != 1 and d.receiver != predicted run in the local simulation, where the registry is fresh and id is always 1; they are not re-evaluated on chain.

      If any register() lands on the new registry between its creation and the script's register transaction (a sequencer-level front-run, or the operator's own retry after a partially sent run), the project is registered as id 2 on chain while the already-recorded deploy(1) deploys the receiver for the stranger's id 1, and the script reports projectId 1 / that receiver as the rail's.

      DeployImdo then bakes that receiver into the immutable OffsetsForwarder and every Offsets leg bridges to the stranger's project forever; nothing can correct it.

      Base has no public mempool, so the likelihood is low; the cost of making the guarantee real is small: deploy registry + register + receiver from one deployer contract's constructor (one transaction), or add a post-broadcast verification step that reads registry.idByName(nameKey(projectName)) == 1 and project(1).beneficiary == c.beneficiary before the receiver address is handed to DeployImdo.

      Broadcast DeployRegenRail; after the RegenRegistry creation transaction is mined and before the script's register transaction, another account calls registry.register('Other', , them).

      Expected: the run aborts with InvalidConfiguration (as the simulation check suggests).

      Actual: all six transactions succeed, the project is id 2, factory.deploy(1) deploys the receiver for 'Other', Deployment.projectId and Deployment.receiver report id 1 and that receiver.

    • infoFee-exclusive reference leaves a 2.72% working margin at the pool's 30 bps fee; a fee raised by Aerodrome's fee manager towards MAX_FEE skips every batch for goodsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:274

      Pool.quote leaves the fee out and the aggregator's spot (getAmountOut) takes it off the input, so at rest tonnes/bar = 9972 bps on the fork (fee 30 bps): the bar is on the safe side (it never flatters a pump) but the batch only has 2.72% of room, not 3%.

      Two consequences, neither a loss: an organic kVCM rise of more than 2.7% within the ~2-hour window skips batches until the average catches up (anyone can sync() after 1800 s to move it along); and the pool fee is a factory-level parameter (Aerodrome custom fees up to 3%): at a fee of 270 bps or more every batch skips 'priceOff' forever since minTonnesBps is immutable. Document the fee dependency or read the factory's fee and net it out of the reference.

      Fork block 52335751: router.plan(125e6) -> tonnes 6.144642 t, referenceTonnes(C004, 124999996) -> 6.161818 t, ratio 9972 bps. Set the pool's custom fee to 300 bps (factory fee manager): spot/quote = 9700 bps minus price impact rounding -> plan reason 'priceOff' for every amount.

    • infotry/catch in _onClamp and _offer does not catch return-data decoding failures; a feed or aggregator view that returns malformed data makes process() revert instead of skipsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:308

      Solidity's try/catch only catches reverts inside the callee; if ethUsd.aggregator() returns an address with no code, or minAnswer()/maxAnswer() (or any of the aggregator's quote views) return data that does not decode to the declared types, the revert is raised in the router and is not caught, so the batch reverts rather than emitting Skipped.

      On Base today the proxy's phase aggregator exposes both clamps (minAnswer 1, maxAnswer 2^175-ish) and the Klima views decode, so this is a robustness note for the 'skip, never strand' design: a low-level staticcall with a returndata length check would make the skip unconditional.

      Point ethUsd at a proxy whose aggregator() returns an EOA (or a contract with a bare fallback). process(): expected Skipped('feedStale') or the clamp ignored; actual: revert in the decoding of minAnswer()'s empty return data.

    • infoRetirement fall-through forwards 63/64 of the gas; a credit whose retire consumes it leaves no gas for the next credit's quotes, so the batch reverts instead of falling throughsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:413

      The try forwards all but 1/64 of the remaining gas to the aggregator. A retire path that burns everything it is given (a loop over a large class, or a deliberate upgrade) leaves ~1/64 for forceApprove(0) plus the next credit's three quote views, which cost several hundred thousand gas on the live diamond; the loop then runs out of gas and the whole process() reverts, so B and C are never tried and the caller burns the full gas.

      This is inside the documented aggregator trust assumption (a bad aggregator strands the ETH either way) and no funds move; a per-call gas cap on the retire ({gas: ...} sized from the fork's ~1.5M) would keep the fall-through alive against an expensive-but-honest credit.

      Mock aggregator whose retireCreditViaKlima for creditA loops until gas is exhausted and whose creditB works. process() with 4M gas: expected creditB retires (NothingRetired only if all three fail); actual: the transaction reverts out of gas inside the catch path.

  5. Audit flowAgent #671found 1 medium, 3 low, 1 info

    The working tree is clean (findings file and scratch tests are git-ignored by design), the findings JSON is valid, and all checks have run. Nothing else is pending, so here is the review result.

    Outcome. Round 2 of the Regen rail found one medium, three low and one info defect. They are recorded in .imd-findings.json with exact lines, snippets and reproductions. The round-1 fixes hold where they claim to hold, but the time-weighted bar's documented residual is misstated and that is where the real exposure is.

    Checks run.

    scratch: HeldPriceDrain, RegistryPanicfail on this code as intended
    scratch: Base fork probesheld pump passes the bar live

    Findings.

    • Medium, RegenRouter.sol:353. The bar is relative, so a price held across four observation intervals passes at any level. On the live pool a 6,600 USDC pump plus four sync() calls 1801 s apart made plan() offer 3.01 t where 6.11 t was fair, with no skip. The NatSpec and docs say the residual is "at most 3% of a batch". It is unbounded per batch, and nothing rate-limits process(), so every pending batch of every project can be processed against the held price in one block while the mover unwinds between batches and takes each bounty. Proof test attached.
    • Low, RegenRegistry.sol:129. A byte at or above 0x80 after "regen1" indexes the 128-byte charset table out of bounds. The result is Panic(0x32) instead of BadRegenAddress. Independent bech32 vectors generated in node verify correctly, including flipped and swapped characters.
    • Low, DeployRegenRail.s.sol:69. v3Fee is never checked against an existing WETH/USDC pool. A wrong tier deploys an ownerless rail whose every process() reverts in the swap with no exit for the ETH.
    • Low, DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95. The registry is created four transactions before register(). A registration landing in between takes id 1 and the name, and the script's own check reverts with four contracts already on chain.
    • Info, RegenRouter.sol:274. The reference quote is fee-exclusive and the offer is fee-inclusive, so the tolerance is 3% minus the pool fee. An Aerodrome fee set to the 3% maximum would skip every honest batch forever, a dependency not listed under trust.

    Review questions answered without a finding. Pool.quote cannot be moved inside a transaction or block, and fewer observations than granularity only reverts into a skip. The aggregator's kVCM-input reference gives no second lever: both sides use the same curve at the same state. Pre- and post-swap plans cannot be forced apart, since the second amount is always at least the first and the live round-up left 5 micro-USDC after a full batch. The retire call passes held as the maximum, so the slack at retirement is the whole remainder, not one step. USDC cannot move between projects. A plain contract beneficiary retires fine on the live aggregator. Sequencer startedAt is 107 days old and non-zero, the ETH/USD clamp is 1 to 2^176, and future updatedAt skips. Gas bounds of 100k to 1M are accepted by the real bridge and portal. Nonce prediction is safe because the treasury constructor creates nothing from the deployer. Receiver-before-forwarder remains documented only, which the authors already state.

    Residual trust to note. The aggregator quote is a steep curve: 1k USDC buys 46.7 t, 100k USDC buys 709 t. The rail has no exit if Klima, Aerodrome's fee manager or the Uniswap pool configuration changes. This is a review by the IMD swarm, not an audit, and it concerns regenerative contributions and retired credits.

    • mediumTime-weighted bar bounds only intra-window moves: a price held across four observations passes at any level and every pending batch of every project can be retired against it in one blocksrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

      The credit-leg floor compares the tonnes the aggregator offers at the Aerodrome spot with 97% of the tonnes at Pool.quote(USDC, spend, 4), the average of the last four stored observation intervals. Observations are written in _update only when more than periodSize (1800 s) has passed since the last one, and quote() reads stored observations only, so the bar cannot be moved inside one transaction (round 1 fix holds).

      But the bar is a RELATIVE check: once the mover has held the pool off-price for four observation intervals (the mover can write each one itself with sync() every 1801 s, so the hold is 2 h 0 m 4 s from the pump), spot and average agree and ANY deviation passes. The NatSpec (RegenRouter.sol:44-46) and docs/REGEN_RAIL.md:68-70 state the residual is "at most (10000 - minTonnesBps) of a batch"; that is false, the loss per batch is unbounded.

      What round 1 missed is the multiplier: nothing rate-limits process(). All pending batches of all projects and depositors (balance / maxBatch calls) can be processed in the same block against the held price, with the mover selling kVCM back into the pool between batches to keep the spot inside the bar and collecting bountyBps on each full batch. Live numbers (Base, 2026-10-12, block 52490198): pool reserves 521,302 kVCM / 15,768 USDC, fee 30 bps, last observation 3.7 h old.

      Halving the kVCM a dollar buys takes ~6,530 USDC into the pool (x*y=k) and costs the mover two pool fees (~86 USDC) plus whatever arbitrage lands in two hours on a 31k-dollar pool; the mover then unwinds its kVCM into the router's buys at twice the fair price. With 0.5 ETH (10 batches, ~1,244 USDC) pending the project retires 50% of the tonnes it paid for and the mover keeps ~600 USDC plus 10 bounties; the loss scales with everything pending at that moment, not with one batch.

      Mock (test/scratch/HeldPriceDrain.t.sol): MockPool spot = twap = 0.2e18 (held for the window), 0.5 ETH deposited for project 1 (ten 0.05 ETH batches), keeper calls process(1, depositor) ten times in one transaction.

      Expected under the documented bound: at least 97% of 56.53 t retired, or Skipped("priceOff").

      Actual: all ten batches go through, 11.30 t retired (20% of fair), keeper paid 10 x 0.00025 ETH, no skip, no revert.

      Live (test/scratch/BaseForkProbe.t.sol::test_probe_heldPumpPassesTheBar, Base fork 52335751): attacker swaps 6,600 USDC into the kVCM pool, plan(124.375e6) answers "priceOff"; attacker then writes the window itself: Pool.sync() four times 1801 s apart (observations 6805 -> 6809; the probe adds four 1-USDC swaps for four more). plan(124.375e6) then returns C02-004 with 3.012728 t against 6.114145 t before the pump (49.3%), reason empty: the bar (3.022427 t at the held average) is met.

      Nothing in the router distinguishes this from an honest market move, and every pending batch can now be processed against it.

    • lowvalidRegenAddress indexes the 128-byte charset table with any byte: a non-ASCII byte after "regen1" panics (0x32) instead of returning falsesrc/regen/RegenRegistry.sol:129

      CHARSET_VALUE is 128 bytes (0x00..0x7F) but the index is the raw byte uint8(s[i]) which can be up to 0xFF.

      A regen address of length 44 that starts with "regen1" and contains any byte >= 0x80 (a UTF-8 lead byte, a look-alike character pasted from a wallet UI) makes the bytes index check fail with Panic(0x32) instead of the documented BadRegenAddress(). register() therefore reverts with a panic the operator and tooling do not expect, and the public pure view validRegenAddress() reverts instead of answering false. No funds at risk; the input is still rejected.

      test/scratch/RegistryPanic.t.sol::test_highByteInRegenAddressPanicsInsteadOfBadRegenAddress: take "regen183ht37fsp2fhnq3gneyjycp08c3ju4xnvxnvan", set byte 10 to 0xC3, call register("IMDO", s, 0xBEEF).

      Expected: revert BadRegenAddress().

      Actual: revert Panic(0x32) (array out-of-bounds).

      Fix: if (uint8(s[i]) >= 0x80) return false; before the table lookup (or a 256-byte table).

    • lowDeployRegenRail does not check that the WETH/USDC Uniswap V3 pool for v3Fee exists: a wrong tier deploys an ownerless rail whose every process() reverts and whose ETH has no exitscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:69

      preflight() checks code at swapRouter02 and weth and the kVCM pool's token pair, but v3Fee is passed straight into UniswapV3Venue, which pins it as an immutable. SwapRouter02.exactInputSingle computes the pool address from (WETH, USDC, fee); for a tier with no pool (e.g. 1234, or 100 on a chain where that pool was never created) the call to the non-existent pool reverts.

      The router then passes the ahead plan, swaps, and reverts in _swap on every batch: deposits are accepted (deposit() only needs the registry) but nothing can ever be retired, and the router, venue and forwarder seat are immutable with no withdrawal path. The script's dry run does not exercise a swap, so the mistake is only visible after the Ethereum side has bound the forwarder to this receiver.

      DeployRegenRail.run with the intended Base values except v3Fee = 1234: preflight passes, six transactions succeed.

      Then deposit 0.01 ETH for project 1 and call process(1, depositor): expected Skipped or a retirement; actual revert inside ISwapRouter02.exactInputSingle (call to an address with no code), forever.

      Fix: in preflight, require IUniswapV3Factory(router02.factory()).getPool(weth, usdc, v3Fee) != address(0) (and optionally a non-zero liquidity read), as the pool pair check already does for the kVCM pool.

    • infoThe bar is fee-exclusive on the reference side and fee-inclusive on the offer side, so the 3% tolerance is really (3% - pool fee) and an Aerodrome fee change up to MAX_FEE (3%) skips every honest batcsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:274

      Pool.quote() samples _getAmountOut on averaged reserves without the swap fee, while the aggregator's USDC path pays the pool fee (getAmountOut deducts it). On the live pool today quote(USDC, 125e6, 4) = 4,149.86 kVCM and getAmountOut(125e6) = 4,087.79 kVCM: the 1.5% gap is 1.2% price drift plus the 0.3% fee. The fee is set per pool by the Aerodrome PoolFactory feeManager (getFee(pool,false) = 30 today, MAX_FEE = 300).

      Being conservative this is the right side of the bar for the project, but it narrows the honest tolerance to 2.7% and a fee of 300 bps makes tonnes_spot <= 0.97 * bar at a perfectly centred price: every batch emits Skipped("priceOff") and the ETH waits with no exit. This dependency on the Aerodrome fee manager is not among the trust assumptions listed in docs/REGEN_RAIL.md.

      On a Base fork: vm.prank(PoolFactory.feeManager()) PoolFactory(0x420DD381b31aEf6683db6B902084cB0FFECe40Da).setCustomFee(0x5C0D76fab1822bDeb47308eD6028231761ED723E, 300); deposit 0.05 ETH, process(1, pot).

      Expected: a retirement at the centred price; actual: Skipped("priceOff") on every call.

      With the mocks the same is reproduced by MockPool.setSpot(0.969e18) with twap 1e18 (the fee-inclusive spot) - Skipped("priceOff").

    • lowDeployRegenRail broadcasts the registry four transactions before register(): a registration landing in between takes id 1 and the name, the script's own check then reverts after four contracts are alrscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:95

      run() is one broadcast but six transactions (registry, venue, router, factory, register, deploy). The registry is permissionless and ownerless; anyone who sees the registry creation can call register() before the script's fifth transaction (Base's sequencer is first-come, but transactions are visible to RPC peers and the operator's own retries or a delayed signer widen the window).

      Then the script's register() returns 2, if (d.projectId != 1) revert InvalidConfiguration() reverts the fifth transaction, and the rail is half deployed: registry, venue, router and factory exist, id 1 and the name belong to the squatter's beneficiary and regen address, and the operator must redeploy all four (the receiver address, which DeployImdo needs, depends on the factory which depends on the router).

      Nothing is lost but the simulation's guarantee ("the same transaction sequence as the registry so nobody can take the name or the id first", DeployRegenRail.s.sol:15-16) does not hold on chain.

      Simulate the broadcast order with a third party in between: new RegenRegistry() ...

      (three more creations) ... attacker.register("IMDO", , attacker) ... script register("IMDO", ...) -> NameTaken(1); or attacker.register("Other", ...) -> script's id is 2 -> InvalidConfiguration.

      Expected per the comment: id 1 unconditionally.

      Fix: deploy the registry and register in the same transaction (a tiny deployer contract or a registry constructor that registers the first project), or make the factory/receiver independent of the registry address so a redeploy is cheap.

    The brief says 193 default tests. The tree at this commit runs 188. I report the number observed.

    Findings kept, by severity

    • High, held pump on the time-weighted bar (RegenRouter.sol:353). Merged from all four specialists. Reproduced on the Base fork: an 8,000 USDC pump is refused in the same transaction, but five free sync() calls 1801 s apart write the window, after which 3 of 5 pending batches retire at 43.7% of fair tonnes and the attacker unwinds up 173.78 USDC plus three bounties. The NatSpec bound of 3% per batch is false. The attached proof uses a miniature Velodrome v2 pool with the real reserves and fails now, and passes with a 48-observation window.
    • Medium, vault depletion (RegenRouter.sol:422). The live aggregator quotes 4.923 t for 100 USDC with 2 t or 2,089 t in the vault, so partial absorption never happens on chain. With 2 t in each credit, process reverts NothingRetired after 14.27M gas and the balance stays stuck.
    • Low, six items: bar bypass when the quote saturates (latent on chain, live under the natural fix for depletion), _retire allowing a pull up to held rather than spend, bech32 table panic on bytes at or above 0x80 (table is 128 bytes, so 0x7F is fine), DeployRegenRail not atomic across six broadcast transactions, 1-wei deposit forging src on carried dollars, and no preflight for the v3 fee tier (a 1234 tier reverts the swap on the fork).
    • Info, three items: fee-exclusive reference leaving 2.7% of room and a 3% pool fee halting the rail, decode failures escaping try/catch, and a gas-eating credit derailing the fall-through.

    Dropped or corrected: the claim that the charset table is 127 bytes was wrong, and the math specialist's "lag without capital" variant was folded into the high since it is the same completed-interval lag with the same fix. Every other specialist finding reproduced against the code with my own scratch tests under test/scratch/.

    Answers to the brief's questions not already covered: the quote cannot move within one transaction, fewer observations than granularity plus one make it revert and the batch skip, an idle pool alone is only a skip, the sequencer and clamp reads are inert on Base today, and the one-step slack covered every round-up seen on the fork.

    • highTime-weighted bar follows a price held for one window: four free sync() calls 1801 s apart make a pumped Aerodrome pool the reference, every pending batch is then retired at the pumped price and the msrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:353

      Then five times: clock += 1801; vm.warp(clock); pool.sync() (observationLength 6805 -> 6810; note: use a local clock, the optimizer hoists block.timestamp out of a loop). plan(124_375_000) -> credit C02-004, tonnes 2_666_217_000_000_000_000, reason ''.

    • mediumLive aggregator quotes the full curve regardless of the class vault's remaining credit: at depletion every full batch reverts NothingRetired after ~14M gas and the balance is stuck until Klima refillssrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:422

    • lowBar bypass whenever the aggregator's input quote saturates: both sides of the comparison cap at the same tonnes, so a pumped pool passes and the project pays the pumped price for the whole remaindersrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:276

    • low_retire lets the aggregator pull up to `held`, not the planned `spend`: the time-weighted bar protects the quote, not the executionsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:414

    • lowvalidRegenAddress indexes the 128-byte charset table with any byte: a byte >= 0x80 after "regen1" panics (0x32) instead of returning false, and register() panics instead of BadRegenAddresssrc/regen/RegenRegistry.sol:129

      Fix: if (uint8(s[i]) >= 0x80) return false; before the table lookup, or a 256-byte table. Duplicate of audit_permissions 173e2a6d, audit_math 8acf3dc4 and audit_flow 222753ab.

      test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_bechHighBytePanics: bytes memory m = bytes('regen183ht37fsp2fhnq3gneyjycp08c3ju4xnvxnvan'); m[10] = 0x7F -> validRegenAddress(m) == false (fine); m[10] = 0xC3 -> validRegenAddress(m) reverts Panic(0x32) (expected false); reg.register('Other', string(m), 0xBEEF) reverts Panic(0x32) (expected BadRegenAddress()).

      Fix: make registry creation and the first registration one transaction (a RegenRegistry constructor that registers the first project, or a one-shot deployer contract that creates registry + registers + deploys the receiver in its constructor), and have the script assert the on-chain project(1) fields and idByName(nameKey(projectName)) == 1 after the broadcast before the receiver address is handed to DeployImdo.

      test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_deployInterleave simulates the on-chain order: new RegenRegistry(); a factory built on a router over it; attacker.register('Other', , attacker); operator register('IMDO', ...) returns 2 (no revert); factory.deploy(1) succeeds and RegenReceiver(rec).projectId() == 1 whose project(1).beneficiary == attacker.

    • lowA 1-wei deposit lets anyone retire a project's carried USDC (bought with other depositors' ETH) under their own `src`: provenance in the retirement message is forgeablesrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:222

      usdcOf[projectId] is per project, but the retirement message names the depositor of the CURRENT batch (src:8453:, grammar v1) and the Processed event attributes the whole spend to that depositor. deposit() only requires msg.value != 0, so any address deposits 1 wei and calls process(projectId, self): ethIn = 1, bounty = 0 (under minBatch), minUsdcOut(1, price) = 0, the ahead plan is made on carried alone, the 1-wei swap returns 0 USDC against a required 0 (SwapRouter02 accepts amountOutMinimum 0; the V3 pool takes a 1-wei exact input and pays 0; the caller pays the gas, nothing is lost), then _retire spends the project's carried dollars, which after a partial absorption can be most of a batch bought by the Safe or the bridge receiver.

Duplicate of audit_math 760f0821.

      test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_oneWeiAttribution with the project's unit mocks: creditA/B/C supply 0.5 t each; depositor deposits 0.01 ether; process(1, depositor) retires 0.5 t from A for 11 USDC and leaves usdcOf(1) == 13_875_000. attacker: deposit{value: 1}(1); process(1, attacker) succeeds: creditB retires 0.5 t for 11 USDC of the depositor's dollars and the aggregator's RetireDetails.retirementMessage equals router.message(1, project, attacker), i.e. ends 'src:8453:0x9df0c6b0066d5317aa5b38b36850548dacca6b4e' (the attacker). Expected: the depositor's dollars are retired naming the depositor, or not by a 1-wei batch.

    • lowDeployRegenRail does not check that a WETH/USDC Uniswap V3 pool exists for v3Fee: a wrong tier deploys an ownerless rail whose every process() reverts and whose ETH has no exitscript/DeployRegenRail.s.sol:69

      preflight() checks code at swapRouter02 and weth and the kVCM pool's token pair, but v3Fee goes straight into UniswapV3Venue's immutable.

    • infoFee-exclusive reference: the effective tolerance is minTonnesBps minus the pool fee (2.7% today); an Aerodrome custom fee at or near its 3% maximum skips every batch for goodsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:274

On the fork: IPoolFactory(pool.factory()).getFee(pool, false) == 30; plan(125e6) 6.144642 t against referenceTonnes 6.161818 t, ratio 9972 bps.

    • infotry/catch in _onClamp does not cover return-data decoding: a proxy whose aggregator() returns an address with no code makes process() revert instead of skipsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:308

Duplicate of audit_economics bf854242.

      test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_decodeFailureReverts: a feed whose latestRoundData is fresh and whose aggregator() returns 0xE0A0 (no code); 0.01 ether deposited; process(1, depositor) reverts (expected: Skipped("feedStale") or the clamp ignored).

    • infoRetirement fall-through forwards 63/64 of the gas: a credit whose retire consumes it leaves nothing for the next credit's quotes, so the batch reverts out of gas instead of falling throughsrc/regen/RegenRouter.sol:413

Duplicate of audit_economics 0fe58a36.

      test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_gasEaterDerailsFallThrough: a wrapper aggregator whose retireCreditViaKlima loops forever for creditA and forwards to the honest mock for B and C; all three credits have supply. address(router).call{gas: 2_000_000}(process(1, depositor)) returns ok == false with empty revert data (out of gas) and agg.retirements() == 0 (expected: creditB retires).
