Build "Squeektoshi's Diary", a single-page, read-only website for Squeekchain (the hamster-powered proof-of-work chain, currently on Sepolia). It turns Squeekchain's public API into a diary of the hamster's day: when Squeektoshi ran, when he slept, and how far he went.

Data (public, CORS-enabled, no keys): GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status (live wheel telemetry: measurement.coreStatus SPINNING/IDLE, rpmMilli, speedMmPerSecond, cumulativeWorkUnits; builder.anchor.blockHeight and blockProgress 0..1e9), GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/settlements?range=24h, ?range=7d and ?range=30d (summary, buckets with workAdded per bucket, recentSettlements), GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/economy/state (SQK minted and supply). Read the real response shapes and handle missing fields gracefully.

Pages and sections, all on one page:

  1. Today header: a big status line that says "Squeektoshi is running" or "Squeektoshi is napping" from coreStatus, with current RPM and speed, refreshing every 15 seconds, plus a small animated pixel hamster that runs or sleeps to match.
  2. Diary heatmap: a 24-column hour-of-day by day grid built from the 7d and 30d buckets, colour intensity = wheel passes (workAdded) in that slot, so you can see his daily routine at a glance. Tooltip per cell with exact numbers.
  3. Daily entries: one card per day for the last 7 days, written like a diary line generated from the numbers (for example "Tuesday: 3,120 passes, busiest around 02:00 UTC, napped 14 hours"), with total passes, active hours and longest active stretch.
  4. Records: best day, longest active stretch, quietest day, current streak of active days.
  5. Chain context: current Squeek block height and progress bar, SQK minted vs cap, link to the official status page https://sepolia.squeekchain.com/status and to Squeekchain Genesis https://squeekchain.com/genesis.

Rules: read-only only. No wallet connection, no contract calls, no transactions, no tracking, no backend; plain static HTML/CSS/JS that works from IPFS. Never force or encourage the hamster to run; naps are shown as normal and healthy. Times shown in UTC with the visitor's local time on hover. If the API is unreachable, keep the last good values and show a small 'offline, showing last data' badge instead of blanking. Style: warm cream background, dark ink outlines, rounded cards, playful but readable, works on phones. English UI. Footer: 'Built for Squeekchain Genesis by @xiligeweb3'.

Built Squeektoshi’s Diary with source, lockfile, static assets, offline caching and responsive layouts.

Passed production build, typecheck, 10 model tests, 19 Chromium checks and all 16 design-probe checks. Submission size: 957,292 bytes.

Historical API data is grouped and labelled honestly. WebKit remains unverified because its runtime could not launch.

I found no high findings, so nothing here should reopen the build. There are 3 medium and 3 low findings, written to .imd-findings.json. One check is missing: WebKit (Safari) failed to install on this machine, so the site was only checked in Chromium.

    Requirements

    • "single-page, read-only", "No wallet connection, no contract calls, no transactions": met. There is no wallet or contract code, and the only outside host requested is api.squeekchain.com.
    • Uses the status, settlements (24h, 7d, 30d) and economy endpoints: met (src/api.ts).
    • "handle missing fields gracefully": met. Missing values show as "Awaiting data" or "Unavailable" (src/main.ts renderChain).
    • "Squeektoshi is running / napping" from coreStatus: met (#status-heading). I saw it live as IDLE and with a faked SPINNING response.
    • "current RPM and speed": met (#rpm, #speed).
    • "refreshing every 15 seconds": met (src/main.ts:232).
    • "animated pixel hamster that runs or sleeps": met. The run, breathe and sleep animations are at src/style.css:177-180.
    • "24-column hour-of-day by day grid from the 7d and 30d buckets": met (#heatmap with a 7/30-day switch). On a phone only 8 of the 24 columns are visible (finding 1).
    • "colour intensity = wheel passes (workAdded)": met (data-level, src/model.ts:102). Grouped buckets show an average per hour, and the page says so.
    • "Tooltip per cell with exact numbers": met (cell title plus the #cell-detail panel).
    • "one card per day for the last 7 days": met (#daily-entries).
    • "written like a diary line … napped 14 hours": met, but the wording is off the brief (finding 2).
    • "total passes, active hours and longest active stretch" on each card: met (.entry-metrics).
    • Records "best day, longest active stretch, quietest day, current streak": met (#records).
    • "block height and progress bar": met (#block-height, #block-progress). It reads 50.3%, which matches 503463521/1e9.
    • "SQK minted vs cap": met (#sqk-minted, #sqk-progress).
    • Links to the status page and Genesis: met (.chain-links).
    • "no tracking, no backend": met. localStorage only caches public API data.
    • "plain static HTML/CSS/JS that works from IPFS": met (relative ./ base). Hosting is after review.
    • "Never force or encourage the hamster to run; naps … normal and healthy": met.
    • "Times shown in UTC with the visitor's local time on hover": met (time title attributes).
    • "offline, showing last data" badge: met. When I blocked the API, the badge appeared and the last values stayed.
    • Cream background, ink outlines, rounded cards, playful: met.
    • "works on phones": met. There is no horizontal scroll at 320 or 390.
    • English UI: met.
    • Footer "Built for Squeekchain Genesis by @xiligeweb3": met (.site-footer).

The idea: a cosy pocket diary about a hamster's day, carried by one pixel hamster beside his wheel. The cream-and-ink palette is the single device, with nothing competing.

    Findings

    1. Medium, fidelity: at 390 the heatmap is 796px wide inside a 332px box, so only 8 of the 24 hours are visible (src/style.css:89). The fix is to fit all 24 columns on narrow screens and keep the tap-for-detail panel.
    2. Medium, fidelity: entry lines read like data notes ("Busiest observed bucket: 00:00–06:00 UTC…") and never say "napped" (src/main.ts:124). The finding includes a replacement sentence in the brief's own form.
    3. Medium, taste: the headings "Little milestones" and "A tiny part of something bigger" don't say what the sections hold (index.html:105). Suggested: "Records from the last 7 days" and "Squeekchain right n

    • mediumfidelity: the 24-hour heatmap shows only 8 of its 24 hour columns on a phone, so the routine is not visible at a glancesrc/style.css:89

Now: .heatmap{min-width:max(740px,49rem)} forces the grid to 796px inside a 332px scroll box at 390, so a visitor sees 00 to 07 UTC and must swipe sideways twice to find the night and evening runs.

Change to: at max-width:760px set .heatmap{min-width:0} and .heatmap-row{grid-template-columns:2.75rem repeat(24,minmax(0,1fr));gap:2px} with .day-date{display:none} and .heat-cell{height:22px}, so all 24 columns fit the 332px box (about 11px each), and keep the existing tap-to-read #cell-detail panel plus arrow-key navigation as the way to read one cell. Keep .heatmap-scroll as the fallback at 320.

Why: the brief asks for 'a 24-column hour-of-day by day grid ... so you can see his daily routine at a glance' and says the site 'works on phones'.

      Width 390, Chromium, live API.

      Load dist/index.html, scroll to #diary.

Measured: .heatmap-scroll scrollWidth 796 vs clientWidth 332; 8 of 24 .hour-label columns fully inside the box; each cell 24.5x28px.

Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/390-full.png shows the grid cut after column 07.

    • mediumfidelity: daily entries read as data notes, not diary lines, and never say how long he nappedsrc/main.ts:124

Now: each card's line is 'Busiest observed hour: 00:00 UTC, with 3 quiet hours in completed observations.' or 'Busiest observed bucket: 00:00–06:00 UTC. Exact hourly counts aren’t available.' The day and total sit in separate elements, and the word 'napped' appears nowhere, although the header already calls IDLE 'napping'.

Change to: one sentence in the brief's form, built from the numbers already computed: ${label}: ${num(total)} passes, busiest around ${HH:MM} UTC, napped ${quietHours} hours. for hourly days (for example 'Friday: 6,544 passes so far, busiest around 00:00 UTC, napped 3 hours.'), and ${label}: ${num(total)} passes, busiest between 00:00 and 06:00 UTC. for grouped days, dropping the nap clause where quietHours is null. Move 'Exact hourly counts aren’t available.' into the existing 'How to read this diary' note, which already says it.

Why: the brief asks for cards 'written like a diary line generated from the numbers (for example "Tuesday: 3,120 passes, busiest around 02:00 UTC, napped 14 hours")' and wants naps shown as normal and healthy.

Width 390, Chromium, live API on 2026-10-30.

Load the page, read .entry-line of the first three cards.

Measured text: ["Busiest observed hour: 00:00 UTC, with 3 quiet hours in completed observations.", "Busiest observed hour: 23:00 UTC.

Earlier hours are grouped.", "Busiest observed bucket: 00:00–06:00 UTC.

      Exact hourly counts aren’t available."].

      No card contains 'napped'.

    • mediumtaste: section headings for Records and Chain context are adjectives that do not name what the section holdsindex.html:105

Now: the records section is headed 'Little milestones' with 'From the last 7 days. Every day has its own pace.', and the chain section (line 110) 'A tiny part of something bigger' with 'His wheel helps power Squeekchain’s proof of work.'. A visitor scanning for the best day or the block height cannot find either from the headings.

Change to: h2 'Records from the last 7 days' with the subline 'Every day has its own pace.'; h2 'Squeekchain right now' keeping 'His wheel helps power Squeekchain’s proof of work.'. Nothing else moves.

Why: section headings on a data page name the content in plain words; a noun beats an adjective. The brief names these sections 'Records' and 'Chain context'.

      Width 390 or 1440.

Scroll the page and read the h2 elements: '#records-heading' = 'Little milestones', '#chain-heading' = 'A tiny part of something bigger'.

Neither contains 'record', 'block' or 'SQK'.

    • lowtaste: every daily card carries an 'Hourly detail 0 / 24 h' metric that is the API's resolution, not the hamster's daysrc/main.ts:128

Now: the third metric on each entry card is 'Hourly detail' with values like '0 / 24 h' or '16 / 24 h', the builder's data-coverage count, shown next to Active hours and Longest stretch. On five of seven cards it reads 0 / 24 h.

Change to: delete the <div><dt>Hourly detail</dt>...</div> metric; the '(range)' label already marks the inexact values and the hatched-square legend and 'How to read this diary' explain why. The two remaining metrics sit side by side and the card gets one row shorter on phones.

Why: the brief asks for 'total passes, active hours and longest active stretch' per card; columns are named in the reader's words, not the builder's.

      Width 390, live API.

      Read .entry-metrics of the second card: 'Active hours (range) 4–9 h · Longest stretch (range) 3–6 h · Hourly detail 16 / 24 h'.

In 390-full.png the Hourly detail metric wraps onto its own row on every card.

    • lowtaste: the header's Squeekchain link is boxed in a pill though it is a plain utility linksrc/style.css:40

Now: .genesis-link has a 1px outline border and pill radius, so the top-right of the first screen shows a large outlined button that competes with the brand.

Change to: remove border:1px solid var(--color-outline) (keep padding and min-height:44px so the target stays comfortable) and keep the ↗ arrow as its link marker.

Why: the header convention is the name at the left and utilities at the right with no box around either unless it marks something.

Width 390. Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png: an outlined 117x40px pill 'Squeekchain ↗' at the right of the header.

    • lowtaste: the running-state scene label wraps onto two lines inside its tilted pill at 390src/main.ts:33

Now: when coreStatus is SPINNING the pill reads 'Going at his own pace' and at 390 it breaks into 'Going at his own / pace', a two-line rotated pill beside the wheel.

Change to: $('scene-label').textContent = 'On the wheel'; which fits on one line like the napping state's 'Do not disturb'.

Why: the label is a sticker; a wrapped sticker reads as a layout slip.

      Width 390, Chromium.

Serve dist/, rewrite /v1/status to coreStatus SPINNING, rpmMilli 42000, click #refresh.

Heading reads 'Squeektoshi is running.'; screenshot shows #scene-label on two lines while the napping label 'Do not disturb' is one line.
