  • 1.highGuardian cannot correct or invalidate a wrong early report: overrideReport inherits the reporter's 'Too early' gate, so the wrong outcome finalizescontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

    require(block.timestamp >= m.end || (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid), "Too early");

    Merged from audit_flow, audit_math, audit_permissions and audit_economics (same root cause, same fix). overrideReport (lines 33-36) is the guardian's correction path ('A guardian can override reports during a dispute period before final payouts are set'), but it calls the shared _report, whose line-40 check only admits a pre-end report when m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid.

    So during the dispute window of an early report, the guardian can only replace a YES report with another YES report. The two corrections the role exists for (distance <= line, or invalid=true) revert 'Too early' until m.end. The dispute window is disputeSeconds from the report time (line 41), not from m.end.

    When disputeSeconds is shorter than the time left before m.end (the normal case for daily markets with early reporting), finalize, which anyone can call, pays outcome 0 (YES) once finalizeAt passes, and NO holders lose their whole stake. The only workaround is for the guardian to re-file a distance > line override before every deadline until m.end and then correct it.

    That is about 11,000 transactions at disputeSeconds=10 over a 100,000 s window, and missing one finalizes the wrong result. testEarlyStrictAndDispute only overrides 1001 -> 1100 (same side of the line), so this path is untested. Fix that keeps the design: add an isOverride flag to _report and use require(isOverride || block.timestamp >= m.end || (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid), "Too early"), keeping the m.end>0 / start checks.

    Optionally also compute finalizeAt for early reports as max(now, m.end) + disputeSeconds. All roles are immutable and setOracle is one-shot, so deploying the fix means redeploying ConditionalTokens, DistanceOracle and Exchange.

    State: DistanceOracle(ctf, reporter, guardian, disputeSeconds=10); at t=100000 createMarket(M, 99999, 200000, line=1000, early=true, []); holder splitPosition(M, 1, 10e6) and keeps NO (mask 2).

    (1) reporter report(M, 1001, h, false) -> ok, finalizeAt=100010.

    (2) guardian overrideReport(M, 900, h2, false) at t=100000: expected accepted; actual revert 'Too early'.

    (3) guardian overrideReport(M, 0, h3, true): expected accepted; actual revert 'Too early'.

    (4) at t=100010 anyone finalize(M) -> payout(M,0)=1, payout(M,1)=0; the NO holder redeems 0 instead of 10e6.

    Reproduced: all four specialist proof files (8 tests) fail with 'Too early' on the current code.

    With the isOverride fix applied to a scratch copy of the source, all 8 pass and the 13 existing Wheel tests still pass.

    The attached proof is the audit_flow one.

  • 2.mediumComplementary-mint match reverts 'Market closed' on every fresh market: positions(tokenId) is only written by a prior split or refinecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:64

    require(market != bytes32(0) && market == otherMarket && oracle.isTradable(market), "Market closed");

    Exchange._match finds (market, mask) only through ctf.positions(a.tokenId) / ctf.positions(b.tokenId) (lines 62-63). ConditionalTokens writes positions[id] only in _id, which is called from splitPosition (mask and full^mask) and refine (singleton bits). prepare writes nothing there. So right after createMarket, positions(tokenId(M,1)) and positions(tokenId(M,2)) return (0x0, 0), and line 64 rejects the match.

    The complementary-mint path (kind 1), which exists to create the first positions from two opposing buys, cannot run until someone calls splitPosition directly with that exact mask. The same applies to union masks in bucket markets, and to the complement of a singleton that was only ever produced by refine. The existing tests hide this because they split before any match.

    Impact is liveness only: every new market is untradeable on the exchange until an out-of-band split, and no funds are lost.

    Fix: in ConditionalTokens.prepare, register the singleton and complement ids (for i < outcomes: _id(market, 1<<i); _id(market, full ^ (1<<i))). Optionally add a permissionless registerPosition(market, mask) guarded by 0 < mask < fullMask for arbitrary unions. Alternatively, carry market/mask in the signed Order and check tokenId == ctf.tokenId(market, mask).

    State: fresh deployment; at t=100000 createMarket(M, 99999, 200000, 1000, true, []); a and b funded and approved; nobody has split M.

    Operator matchOrders([{maker: a buy tokenId(M,1) @600000 size 20e6, taker: b buy tokenId(M,2) @450000 size 20e6, amount 5e6}]).

    Expected: kind-1 mint, a holds 5e6 YES, b holds 5e6 NO, locked[M]=5e6.

    Actual: revert 'Market closed' because ctf.positions(tokenId(M,1)) == (0x0, 0).

    Reproduced: the attached proof fails with 'Market closed' on the current code and passes once prepare registers singleton and complement ids (checked on a scratch copy of the source).

  • 3.lowSigned FOK/IOC time-in-force is enforced only on the taker leg; the same order in the maker slot is partially filled or stays livecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:53

    if (taker.timeInForce == 2) require(filled[h] == taker.size, "FOK incomplete");

    Merged from audit_flow, audit_permissions and audit_economics. timeInForce is part of the signed EIP-712 Order, but the maker/taker role is not signed: the operator chooses the slot. _check validates both legs identically, but the post-match loop (lines 50-56) reads only matches[i].taker. So a fill-or-kill (2) order in the maker slot can be partially filled, and an immediate-or-cancel (3) maker order is not cancelled and can be filled again in a later transaction.

    The post-only (4) rule is correctly taker-only. Severity is low because only the trusted operator chooses the slots, and the signer's price limit still holds.

    Fix: apply the FOK (filled == size) and IOC (cancel) rules to matches[i].maker as well, and keep the post-only revert for the taker only.

    State: market M tradable, a holds 10e6 YES (mask 1).

    (1) a signs sell YES @600000 size 5e6 timeInForce=2; b signs buy YES @700000 size 5e6 tif=0.

    Operator submits Match{maker: a's FOK, taker: b, amount 3e6}.

    Expected: revert 'FOK incomplete'.

    Actual: success, filled[hash(a)] == 3e6.

    The same pair with the FOK order as taker does revert 'FOK incomplete'.

    (2) a signs the same sell with tif=3, nonce 3.

    Match{maker: IOC, taker: b, amount 2e6} -> cancelled[hash] == false, and a second matchOrders for 1e6 succeeds (filled == 3e6).

    Reproduced in scratch tests testFokMakerPartiallyFilled and testIocMakerStaysLive (both pass, confirming the behaviour).

  • 4.lowFill notional amount*price/1e6 floors without a minimum: small fills move tokens for zero collateral and zero fee, and in the mint path the taker can pay above its signed limitcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:65

    uint256 av = m.amount * a.price / 1e6; uint256 bv; uint8 kind;

    Merged from audit_math and audit_economics. av = m.amount * a.price / 1e6 rounds down, and nothing requires av > 0 or amount to sit on a grid that makes the product exact.

    Same-token path: a seller delivers outcome tokens and receives floor(amount*price/1e6), which can be 0, and both fees floor to 0.

    Mint path: bv = amount - av = ceil(amount*(1e6 - a.price)/1e6), which can exceed amount*b.price/1e6, so the taker pays more than its signed price. Only the trusted operator picks amount, and the loss is at most 1 unit (1e-6 tUSDC) per fill without compounding, hence low.

    Fix: require(m.amount % 100 == 0) (prices are multiples of 10_000, so the notional is then exact), or require av > 0 and round toward the party whose limit would otherwise be violated.

    Same-token: a holds YES; a signs sell YES @10000 (fee 100 bps), b signs buy YES @10000; operator matches amount=99.

    Expected: seller receives about 0.99 units, or a revert.

    Actual: USDC balances of a, b and feeRecipient are unchanged, and b receives 99 YES.

    Mint: a buys YES @600000, b buys NO @400000, amount=1.

    Expected: b pays at most floor(0.4)=0.

    Actual: a pays 0, b pays 1.

    Reproduced in scratch tests testZeroNotionalFill and testMintTakerPaysAboveLimit (both pass, confirming the behaviour).

  • 5.lowNo resolution path if the reporter never reports: the guardian cannot start one, and one-sided positions stay locked forevercontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:30

    require(msg.sender == reporter && reports[id].finalizeAt == 0, "Reporter or duplicate");

    Merged from audit_permissions (info) and audit_economics (medium). Every resolution starts with report(), which only the immutable reporter can call. overrideReport requires an existing report (finalizeAt != 0), and there is no timeout fallback.

    If the reporter key is lost or the service stops, finalize reverts 'Not final' and redeemPositions reverts 'Unresolved' forever. isTradable is false after end, so holders of only one side, the normal result of exchange trading, cannot exit; only complete-set holders can mergePositions. The reporter is a designed trusted role, so this is a missing-liveness-fallback issue rather than a bypass, rated low.

    Fix that keeps the design: let the guardian file the first report (or an invalid one) once block.timestamp >= end + grace and reports[id].finalizeAt == 0, or allow a permissionless invalid resolution after a long timeout.

    State: early market M (end 200000); a split 10e6 (mask 1).

    No report is filed.

    At t=300000: isTradable(M) == false; guardian overrideReport(M, 0, 0, true) reverts 'Outside dispute window'; finalize(M) reverts 'Not final'; a redeemPositions(M,[1]) reverts 'Unresolved'.

    Expected: some actor can resolve or invalidate after a grace period.

    Reproduced in scratch test testNoReportNoResolution.

  • 6.infoTrust assumption: each guardian override restarts the dispute clock, so the guardian can postpone finalization indefinitelycontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

    reports[id] = Report(distance, dataHash, uint64(block.timestamp + disputeSeconds), invalid, false);

    Merged from audit_flow, audit_permissions and audit_economics. _report always stores finalizeAt = now + disputeSeconds, and overrideReport only requires now < finalizeAt. Repeated overrides, even with identical values, push finalization out without bound. Meanwhile trading is closed and redeemPositions reverts 'Unresolved'.

    This is a power of the designed guardian role and is documented as a trust assumption. If a bound is wanted: keep the original finalizeAt on override, extend it at most once, or cap it at max(original, m.end + disputeSeconds).

    disputeSeconds=10; at t=200000 the reporter reports M (finalizeAt 200010).

    The guardian calls overrideReport(M, 900, 0, false) every 9 s, 50 times; finalizeAt becomes 200460 and finalize(M) still reverts 'Not final' at t=200459.

    Reproduced in scratch test testGuardianExtendsIndefinitely.

  • 7.infouint64 cast of block.timestamp + disputeSeconds truncates; a delay of 2**64 or more wraps finalizeAt (zero dispute window or never finalizable)contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

    reports[id] = Report(distance, dataHash, uint64(block.timestamp + disputeSeconds), invalid, false);

    disputeSeconds is a uint256 bounded only by >= 1 (line 18). The stored finalizeAt is uint64(block.timestamp + disputeSeconds), which truncates silently, while the event emits the untruncated value. A delay of 2**64 makes finalizeAt equal the report time, so finalize succeeds in the same block.

    A delay of 2**64 - ts gives 0, which leaves the report re-fileable and makes finalize unreachable. This is reachable only through an absurd deployment argument; the audit_math specialist reports the live Sepolia oracle uses 300, which I did not re-check. So it is hardening, not low.

    Fix: bound delay in the constructor (e.g. <= 365 days) or use SafeCast.toUint64.

    Deploy DistanceOracle(ctf, reporter, guardian, 2**64); at t=100000 createMarket(M, 99999, 200000, 1000, true, []); report(M, 1001, 0, false).

    Expected finalizeAt = 100000 + 2**64.

    Actual: reports(M).finalizeAt == 100000, and finalize(M) succeeds in the same block with payout(M,0)=1.

    Reproduced in scratch test testFinalizeAtWrap.

  • 8.infoPer-mask floor division in redeemPositions strands dust in locked[market] after invalid or multi-outcome resolutioncontracts/src/ConditionalTokens.sol:84

    _burn(msg.sender, id, amount); value += amount * num / c.denominator;

    Merged from audit_math and audit_economics. Each mask's value amount*num/denominator is floored separately, so a complete set split across masks redeems for less than par when denominator > 1. Up to (masks-1) units stay in locked[market] with no tokens left to claim them. mergePositions, which has no resolved guard, still returns par for the same tokens.

    Collateral is never over-paid, so this is conservation-safe and dust-sized.

    Fix: sum the numerators over all masks before one division, i.e. value = sum(amount_j*num_j)/denominator.

    createMarket(id, 99999, 200000, 0, false, [500,1000]) (3 outcomes); a splitPosition(id, 1, 10e6), holding masks 1 and 6.

    At t=200001 report(id, 0, 0, true); at t=200011 finalize -> payouts [1,1,1], denominator 3. a redeemPositions(id, [1,6]).

    Expected claimable 10_000_000.

    Actual 9_999_999, and locked[id] == 1 permanently.

    Reproduced in scratch test testRedeemDustStranded.

  • 9.infoTrust assumption: the unsigned maker/taker role lets the operator decide which crossing order gets the price improvementcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:73

    bv = m.amount - av;

    The execution price is always the maker leg's price (av = amount*a.price/1e6), and in the mint/merge path the taker gets the whole surplus (bv = amount - av). The operator assigns the maker and taker slots freely, so it decides who pays their full limit and who gets the spread. This is within the stated operator-matching design and is documented as a trust boundary, not a bypass.

    Fix if wanted: tie role to a signed field, or split the surplus deterministically.

    a signs buy YES @600000, b signs buy NO @600000 (fee 100 bps each).

    Match{maker=a, taker=b, amount=1e6}: a pays 600000+6000, b pays 400000+4000.

    Swapping the slots reverses who pays 600000.

    Reproduced in scratch test testOperatorChoosesWhoKeepsSurplus.

    The review is complete. The findings file holds four substantiated findings, three with Foundry proofs that fail on the current code and pass under a minimal fix.

    What was reviewed. All five contracts under contracts/src and the test suite, through the Execution Trace, Periphery and First Principles passes. The project builds and its 13 tests pass. No repository file was changed. The only new files are the findings JSON and three proof tests under the scratch directory.

    Findings, ranked:

    • High. Guardian cannot correct a false early report (contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40). The override path reuses the reporter's "Too early" gate, so before the window ends the guardian can only submit another YES with a higher distance. Lowering the distance to NO or marking the report invalid reverts. With a dispute period shorter than the remaining window, a wrong early YES finalizes with no recourse and every NO holder loses their stake. Proof: two tests, both revert "Too early" today.
    • Medium. Exchange mint path is dead on every fresh market (contracts/src/Exchange.sol:64). The exchange resolves market and mask from a position registry that is only written by a prior split or refine. Right after market creation the registry is empty, so the first complementary match reverts "Market closed". The repository tests hide this by splitting in setUp. Proof: one test.
    • Low. FOK and IOC policies only enforced on the taker slot (contracts/src/Exchange.sol:53). The same signed order placed as maker is partially filled or stays live after its fill. Proof: two tests.
    • Info, trust assumption. Each guardian override restarts the dispute clock (contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41), so finalization can be deferred without bound while trading and redemption stay blocked.

    Verification. Each proof was run against the pristine code and failed for the stated reason. I then applied minimal fixes in a throwaway copy outside the repository. All proofs passed there and the original 13 tests still passed.

    Coverage notes. Collateral conservation across split, merge, refine, complete-set merge and redeem checked out, as did the complement-mask check, EIP-712 hashing and the reentrancy surface. Rounding dust in redemption was left to the math pass and is not reported. The proof tests use the inline hevm cheatcode interface the repository's own tests use, since forge-std is not vendored and I could not add it to configuration.

    • highGuardian cannot override a false early report before the market window ends: overrideReport inherits the reporter's 'Too early' gatecontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

      overrideReport (line 33-36) is the documented safety net on the reporter: 'A guardian can override reports during a dispute period before final payouts are set.' It delegates to _report, and _report applies the same admission rule that the initial report must satisfy: before m.end the call is only accepted when m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid. That rule describes when a reporter may file an early YES; it has no meaning for a correction.

      The result is that for an early-reportable binary market, the only overrides the guardian can make before m.end are other YES reports with distance > line. The two corrections the role exists for, lowering the distance to <= line (NO) or marking the report invalid, revert with 'Too early' until block.timestamp >= m.end.

      The dispute clock is independent of m.end (finalizeAt = report time + disputeSeconds, line 41), so with a dispute period shorter than the time remaining in the window, a wrong early report becomes unchallengeable: finalize (line 48-56) is permissionless and pays outcome 0 (YES) to everyone as soon as the clock runs out. The hosted markets are UTC noon-to-noon with early reporting enabled, so this is the normal configuration, not an edge case.

      Who loses: every NO holder of that market loses their entire stake to YES holders; the reporter is an automated relay of telemetry the contracts do not verify, so a wrong early report is the exact failure the guardian is meant to catch. The existing test testEarlyStrictAndDispute only overrides an early report with a higher distance (1100 > 1000), so it never exercises the failing branch.

      Fix (preserves the design): give _report an isOverride flag and skip the 'Too early' gate when it is set (keep the m.end > 0 and block.timestamp >= m.start checks), i.e. require(isOverride || block.timestamp >= m.end || (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid), "Too early"). The guardian is already bounded to the dispute window by overrideReport's own checks.

      State: DistanceOracle deployed with disputeSeconds = 10; createMarket(M, start=99999, end=200000, line=1000, early=true, []); block.timestamp = 100000.

      A holder has split 10e6 and holds NO (mask 2).

      Steps: (1) reporter calls report(M, 1001, h, false) -> accepted, finalizeAt = 100010, trading halts.

      (2) guardian calls overrideReport(M, 900, h2, false) at t=100000.

      Expected: accepted, report now 900 (NO).

      Actual: revert 'Too early' (line 40: 100000 < 200000 and 900 > 1000 is false).

      (3) guardian calls overrideReport(M, 0, h3, true).

      Expected: accepted.

      Actual: revert 'Too early' (!invalid is false).

      (4) at t=100010 anyone calls finalize(M): payout[M][0] = 1, YES wins; NO holder redeems 0 instead of 10e6.

      Proof file test/scratch/GuardianOverrideEarly.t.sol: both tests fail with 'Too early' on the current code and pass with the isOverride fix (verified in a scratch copy; the original 13 tests still pass).

    • mediumComplementary mint through the Exchange reverts on every fresh market because ctf.positions(tokenId) is only written by a prior split or refinecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:64

      _match learns which market and mask an order is about solely from ctf.positions(a.tokenId) and ctf.positions(b.tokenId) (lines 62-63). ConditionalTokens writes positions[id] only inside _id (ConditionalTokens.sol:34-36), which runs from splitPosition (for mask and full^mask) and refine (for singleton bits). prepare (line 27-31) writes nothing to positions.

      So immediately after DistanceOracle.createMarket, positions(tokenId(M, 1)) and positions(tokenId(M, 2)) are (bytes32(0), 0), and the market != bytes32(0) guard on line 64 rejects the match with 'Market closed'. The complementary-mint path (kind = 1, lines 74-79) exists precisely to create the first positions from two opposing buy orders, yet it can never run until some account has already called splitPosition directly on ConditionalTokens with that exact mask.

      The same holds for any union mask in a bucket market (e.g. 'distance < 1000' = mask 3 in a 6-bucket market) and for a complement whose singleton was only ever produced by refine (refine registers the bit, never full^bit). The repository's own tests mask this: WheelTest.setUp splits 10e6 of mask 1 before any match, and testBucketAndNegRisk / testTopBucket... split before trading, so no test matches on a market in its post-createMarket state.

      Impact: liveness. Every daily market is dead on the exchange until an out-of-band split happens; no funds are lost.

      Fix that keeps the Order format unchanged: register the tradeable ids when the condition is prepared, e.g. in ConditionalTokens.prepare loop over i < outcomes and call _id(market, 1 << i) and _id(market, full ^ (1 << i)) (2n SSTORE pairs, n <= 8), and optionally add a permissionless registerPosition(market, mask) with the same mask > 0 && mask < fullMask check for arbitrary unions.

      Alternatively carry market and mask in the signed Order and have _match verify tokenId == ctf.tokenId(market, mask), which changes the signing schema.

      State: fresh deployment; createMarket(M, 99999, 200000, 1000, true, []) at t=100000; a and b funded via faucet, approved the Exchange for collateral and ERC-1155, nobody has called splitPosition for M.

      Input: matchOrders([{maker: a buy tokenId(M,1) @600000 size 20e6, taker: b buy tokenId(M,2) @450000 size 20e6, amount 5e6}]) from the operator.

      Expected: kind-1 match, 5e6 pulled (3e6 from a, 2e6 from b), splitPosition(M, 1, 5e6), a holds 5e6 YES, b holds 5e6 NO, locked[M] = 5e6.

      Actual: revert 'Market closed' at Exchange.sol:64 because ctf.positions(tokenId(M,1)) returns (0x0, 0).

      Proof file test/scratch/FreshMarketMint.t.sol fails on the current code with 'Market closed' and passes once prepare registers singleton and complement ids (verified in a scratch copy).

    • lowSigned time-in-force policy (FOK, IOC) is enforced only on the taker slot; the same order in the maker slot is partially filled or stays livecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:53

      timeInForce is part of the EIP-712 Order the user signs, alongside price, size, expiry and fee cap. The contract enforces those other fields no matter which slot of a Match the order lands in (_check, lines 40-46), but the policy loop after the matches (lines 50-56) reads only matches[i].taker.

      The operator chooses which signed order is 'maker' and which is 'taker' (both pass through the same _check), so an order signed fill-or-kill (2) is partially filled when placed as maker, and an order signed immediate-or-cancel (3) is not cancelled after its fill when placed as maker, remaining matchable in later transactions. Post-only (4) is correctly accepted on the maker side by design, but FOK and IOC have no maker-side meaning that justifies skipping them.

      Who is affected: the signer, whose signed policy was the condition under which they authorised the fill; the matching engine is trusted, but the contract is the only place the signature's terms are enforced, and it already refuses to trust the operator on price, size and expiry. Severity is low because the operator is a trusted role and the loss is a policy violation (an unwanted partial position or a resting order the user believed was dead), not direct theft.

      The existing test testFokIocAndPostOnlyPolicies only places the policy order in the taker slot.

      Fix: in the post-match loop also read matches[i].maker and apply the FOK (filled == size) and IOC (cancel) rules to it; keep the post-only rule taker-only.

      State: market M tradable, a holds 10e6 YES (mask 1), both parties approved.

      (1) a signs sell YES @600000 size 5e6 timeInForce=2 (FOK); b signs buy YES @700000 size 5e6 timeInForce=0.

      Operator submits Match{maker: a's FOK order, taker: b's order, amount: 3e6}.

      Expected: revert 'FOK incomplete' (filled 3e6 != size 5e6).

      Actual: succeeds, filled[hash(a)] = 3e6, a is left with a 2e6 resting remainder.

      (2) a signs the same sell with timeInForce=3 (IOC), nonce 1; operator submits Match{maker: IOC order, taker: b's order, amount: 2e6}.

      Expected: cancelled[hash(IOC)] == true and a second match of 1e6 reverts 'Inactive order'.

      Actual: cancelled is false and the second match for 1e6 succeeds.

      Proof file test/scratch/MakerTimeInForce.t.sol: both tests fail on the current code and pass once the maker slot is subject to the FOK/IOC rules (verified in a scratch copy).

    • infoTrust assumption: each guardian override restarts the dispute clock, so the guardian can defer finalization indefinitelycontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

      overrideReport reuses _report, which unconditionally stores finalizeAt = block.timestamp + disputeSeconds. overrideReport only requires block.timestamp < reports[id].finalizeAt and !finalized, so a guardian who calls it again shortly before each deadline pushes finalizeAt forward by disputeSeconds every time, with no cap on the number of overrides and no absolute deadline relative to m.end.

      While a report is pending, isTradable is false (line 46) and ConditionalTokens stays unresolved, so holders cannot trade or redeem; only mergePositions of complete sets returns collateral. This is a power of a designed, immutable trusted role and is reported as a trust assumption rather than a defect.

      If a bound is wanted without changing the role, the override could keep the original finalizeAt (or extend it at most once), or cap finalizeAt at max(original, m.end + disputeSeconds).

      State: disputeSeconds = 10; report(M, ...) at t=100000 sets finalizeAt = 100010.

      At t=100009 guardian calls overrideReport(M, same distance, same hash, false): finalizeAt becomes 100019.

      At t=100018 guardian repeats: finalizeAt becomes 100028.

      Repeating this every 9 seconds means finalize(M) reverts 'Not final' forever, and redeemPositions reverts 'Unresolved' for every holder.

      Expected under the README's description ('override reports during a dispute period'): a bounded dispute period.

      Actual: unbounded.

  3. Audit mathAgent #94found 1 medium, 2 low, 1 info

    The review is complete. .imd-findings.json holds four substantiated findings, two with Foundry proofs. No contract or configuration file was changed; the only additions are the scratch tests under contracts/test/scratch/.

    Scope covered. All five contracts in contracts/src and the existing suite, with the Math Precision, Boundary and Numerical Gap passes applied first to every division, cast, comparison and external call site. The existing suite passes (13 tests, including the fuzz and invariant runs). I also read the live Sepolia oracle, which reports a 300-second dispute window.

    Findings, by severity:

    • Medium, DistanceOracle line 40. The guardian cannot dispute an early binary report in any way that matters. The shared "Too early" guard forces an override before the window end to also be an early YES report, so marking it invalid or lowering the distance reverts. With a 300-second dispute window and 24-hour markets, the window lapses long before noon and anyone can finalize the wrong outcome. Proof test fails on this code with "Too early" and passes when overrides bypass that guard.
    • Low, DistanceOracle line 41. The dispute deadline is stored through an unchecked uint64 cast. A delay of 264 wraps the deadline to the report timestamp, so finalize succeeds in the same block. A delay of 264 minus the timestamp wraps it to zero, leaving the market tradable and never finalizable. Deployment-argument only. Proof test included.
    • Low, Exchange line 65. Fill notional floors to zero for fills under 100 units. A 99-unit fill at price 0.01 moves 99 position units to the buyer for zero collateral and zero fee. In the mint path a 1-unit fill makes the taker pay 1 unit for a position it priced at 0.4, above its signed limit. Operator-chosen amount, at most one unit per fill.
    • Info, ConditionalTokens line 84. Per-mask floor division on invalid or multi-outcome resolutions strands dust in the market's locked balance permanently, while merging the same complete set after resolution returns par.

    Verified clean. Collateral conservation across split, merge, refine, the adapter conversion and the exchange mint and merge paths; the locked accounting cannot underflow; bucket and threshold boundaries are consistent with the strict-exceed rule; fee and notional overflow is unreachable with the 990_000 price cap.

    Notes outside the assigned area, not filed. Time-in-force policies are only enforced on the taker side, so an operator can rest an IOC or FOK order as maker. Merge functions lack the resolved guard that split has, which is harmless in value terms and is folded into the info finding.

    Limitation. The scratch tests need forge-std, which this repository does not vendor. I ran them with a remapping to a copy cloned outside the repo, so the repository's own npm test would not compile them while they remain in place.

    • mediumGuardian cannot invalidate or correct an early binary report before the market window ends; the dispute window lapses and the wrong outcome finalizescontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

      Boundary: _report is shared by report and overrideReport, and its "Too early" guard requires, before m.end, that the submitted values satisfy m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid. The guardian's override is therefore constrained to the same shape as the report it is disputing: during the dispute window of an early report it can only replace a YES report with another YES report. It cannot mark the report invalid and cannot lower the distance to or below the line. The README states that the guardian can override reports during the dispute period; for early reports that power is void for the whole class of corrections that matter.

      The dispute window is disputeSeconds from the report, not from m.end. The Sepolia deployment at 0x7748d1d99036a8F7a82e63c99DDFDBCD32BDC5DB returns disputeSeconds() == 300, and the hosted daily markets are noon-to-noon (86_400 s). Any early report filed more than five minutes before noon therefore has a dispute window that closes before m.end, and once block.timestamp >= finalizeAt anyone can call finalize, which pays outcome 0 (over the line) in full. A mistaken or malicious early report (telemetry glitch, replayed value, wrong market id) cannot be caught by the only safeguard the design provides, and every holder of the complementary position loses their stake. The unprivileged amplifier is the public finalize call plus the clock: no trusted party needs to act after the bad report.

      Expected: inside the dispute window the guardian can replace the pending report with any report (including invalid or a distance at or below the line). Actual: overrideReport(M, 0, h, true) and overrideReport(M, 900, h, false) both revert with "Too early" until m.end, by which time finalizeAt has passed and finalize has already set payouts.

      Fix: skip the early-report shape check for overrides (pass an isOverride flag to _report, or move the block.timestamp >= m.end || (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid) requirement into report only). Independently, consider computing finalizeAt as max(block.timestamp, m.end) + disputeSeconds for early reports so the guardian always has a window after the day closes. The oracle test suite only exercises an override that keeps distance > line (testEarlyStrictAndDispute), so this edge is untested.

      State: DistanceOracle(ctf, reporter, guardian, delay=300). createMarket(M, start=100000, end=186400, line=1000, early=true, []). At t=103600 reporter calls report(M, 1001, h, false): reports[M].finalizeAt = 103900.

      Input 1: at t=103600 guardian calls overrideReport(M, 0, h2, true). Expected: accepted (inside dispute window). Actual: revert "Too early".

      Input 2: guardian calls overrideReport(M, 900, h2, false). Expected: accepted. Actual: revert "Too early".

      Then at t=103900 anyone calls finalize(M): succeeds, ctf.payout(M,0)=1, payout(M,1)=0, with 82_500 s of the market window still ahead. At t>=186400 overrideReport reverts "Outside dispute window" because reports[M].finalized is true. Proof test: contracts/test/scratch/EarlyReportOverride.t.sol (fails on this code with "Too early"; passes when overrides bypass the early-shape guard).

    • lowUnchecked uint64 downcast of block.timestamp + disputeSeconds lets a large delay wrap finalizeAt to the present (zero dispute window) or to 0 (market never finalizable)contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

      disputeSeconds is a uint256 immutable whose only constructor bound is delay >= 1 (line 18). _report stores uint64(block.timestamp + disputeSeconds); a narrowing cast truncates in Solidity 0.8, it does not revert. The emitted Reported event carries the untruncated sum, so off-chain readers and the stored deadline disagree.

      Two concrete wraps: (a) delay = 264 gives finalizeAt = uint64(ts) = ts, so finalize passes block.timestamp >= r.finalizeAt in the same block as the report and the guardian has no dispute window at all. (b) delay = 264 - ts (for the block in which the report lands) gives finalizeAt = 0: reports[id].finalizeAt == 0 so the reporter may re-report indefinitely, isTradable stays true after the report so the Exchange keeps matching, overrideReport reverts (finalizeAt != 0 fails) and finalize reverts (r.finalizeAt > 0 fails), so winners can never redeem; holders can only exit via mergePositions at par.

      This is reachable only through a deployment argument, not through normal use; the live Sepolia oracle has disputeSeconds = 300, so it is a hardening issue. Fix: bound delay in the constructor (e.g. delay <= 365 days) or use a checked cast (SafeCast.toUint64) and store the same value the event emits.

      Deploy DistanceOracle(ctf, reporter, guardian, delay = 18446744073709551616 (2**64)). createMarket(M, 100000, 200000, 1000, true, []).

      At t=100000 report(M, 1001, h, false).

      Expected: reports[M].finalizeAt = 100000 + 264 and finalize(M) reverts "Not final" for 264 seconds.

      Actual: reports[M].finalizeAt == 100000, finalize(M) succeeds in the same block, payouts are set with no dispute window.

      Proof test: contracts/test/scratch/FinalizeAtWrap.t.sol (fails on this code; passes if the constructor rejects the delay, if the cast is checked, or if finalize is blocked).

    • lowFill notional m.amount * price / 1e6 floors to zero for fills under 100 units; seller delivers tokens for nothing and, in the mint path, the taker pays above its signed price limitcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:65

      Prices are multiples of 10_000 in a 1e6 scale, so av = m.amount * a.price / 1e6 equals m.amount * cents / 100 and is exact only when m.amount is a multiple of 100 units (0.0001 tUSDC). Nothing constrains m.amount to that grid: _check only requires amount > 0 and filled + amount <= size. The rounding direction is fixed regardless of who is the buyer or the seller:

      • Same-token path (kind 0): the buyer pays av rounded down and the seller receives exactly av. With amount = 99 and price = 10_000, av = 0: the seller transfers 99 position units and receives 0 collateral; both fees (av * feeRateBps / 10_000) are also 0. Up to 1 unit per fill is lost by the seller.
      • Mint path (kind 1): bv = m.amount - av = ceil(amount * (1e6 - a.price) / 1e6), which can exceed amount * b.price / 1e6 by one unit when a.price + b.price == 1e6. With amount = 1, a.price = 600_000, b.price = 400_000: av = 0, bv = 1, so the taker pays 1 unit for a position it priced at 0.4 units, 2.5x its signed limit, while the maker pays nothing.
      • Fee path (line 89-90): fees floor to zero whenever av * feeRateBps < 10_000, i.e. for any av below 100 units at the maximum 1% rate.

      Only the trusted operator chooses m.amount, every fill loses at most one unit (1e-6 tUSDC), and the loss does not compound, so this is low. It is still a violation of the signed order terms (a taker must never pay more than its price) and of the notional the fee recipient is owed. Fix: require m.amount % 100 == 0 (or (m.amount * a.price) % 1e6 == 0) in _match, or round av toward the party that signed the limit (ceil for a buying maker, floor for a selling maker) and derive bv so that neither side exceeds its signed price.

      Setup as in contracts/test/Wheel.t.sol (a holds 10e6 YES). Orders: a sells tokenId(M,1) at price 10_000 with feeRateBps 100; b buys tokenId(M,1) at 10_000, fee 100. Operator calls matchOrders with amount = 99. Expected: seller receives about 0.99 units (or the fill is rejected as unrepresentable). Actual (measured in contracts/test/scratch/RoundingNumbers.t.sol): seller collateral delta 0, buyer collateral delta 0, buyer receives 99 YES units, fee recipient receives 0.

      Mint path: a buys tokenId(M,1) at 600_000, b buys tokenId(M,2) at 400_000, amount = 1. Expected: b pays at most 0.4 units (0 after rounding). Actual: a pays 0, b pays 1.

    • infoPer-mask floor division in redeemPositions strands payout dust in locked[market] on invalid or multi-outcome resolutions while mergePositions still returns parcontracts/src/ConditionalTokens.sol:84

      Seam precision x invariant: redeemPositions computes amount * num / c.denominator separately for every mask in the call and floors each term. For an invalid resolution the denominator is the outcome count (3..8 for bucket markets), so a holder of a singleton and its complement, which together are a complete set worth exactly amount, receives floor(amount/n) + floor(amount*(n-1)/n) and up to n-1 units stay in locked[market] with no path to release them.

      Meanwhile mergePositions and mergeCompleteSet carry no resolved guard (lines 45-52, 62-67) and return the full amount for the same tokens after resolution, so two formulas that should agree differ by the rounding dust, and the locked accounting for the market never returns to zero. Loss is dust-level and non-compounding (at most n-1 units per redeem call), so this is informational.

      Fix: sum the numerators across all masks before a single division, or allow redeemPositions to net a complete set at par; alternatively credit the residual locked[market] to the fee recipient once every position is burned.

      createMarket(id, 99999, 200000, 0, false, [500, 1000]) (3 outcomes). a: splitPosition(id, 1, 10e6), holding 10e6 of mask 1 and 10e6 of mask 6.

      At t=200001 report(id, 0, 0x0, true); at t=200011 finalize(id): payouts [1,1,1], denominator 3. a calls redeemPositions(id, [1, 6]).

      Expected: claimable 10_000_000 (a complete set).

      Actual (contracts/test/scratch/RoundingNumbers.t.sol): claimable 9_999_999, locked[id] 1, permanently.

      Same holder calling mergePositions(id, 1, 10e6) instead receives 10_000_000.

  4. Audit economicsAgent #826found 2 medium, 2 low, 3 info

    The review is complete. The findings file is in place at the repository root with seven entries, and no tracked file was changed.

    Scope covered. All five contracts in contracts/src and the existing test suite, under the Economic Security, Invariant and Flow Gap guides first, then the remaining passes as my own. I traced collateral conservation across split, merge, refine, mergeCompleteSet, redeem and the NegRiskAdapter conversion, and the core accounting holds: payouts never exceed locked, the adapter's identity is exact, and the exchange math is bounded to sub-unit dust. The real defects are in the oracle's dispute flow and in operator-side policy enforcement.

    Findings written (every one reproduced in contracts/test/scratch/Leads.t.sol, which passes 8 of 8 against the current code):

    • Medium, guardian cannot correct a wrong early report. The override reuses the early-report timing rule, so before the window ends the guardian can only replace an "exceeded" report with another "exceeded" value. A wrong early report finalizes to YES after the dispute period, and NO holders get nothing. The only workaround is thousands of chained overrides. Proof test attached; it fails today with "Too early" and I confirmed it passes under the proposed fix.
    • Medium, no fallback if the reporter never reports. Override requires a pending report and there is no post-end grace path, so a lost reporter key locks every one-sided position forever.
    • Low, FOK and IOC only enforced on the taker leg. A fill-or-kill order placed as maker is partially filled. Proof attached, fails today.
    • Low, zero-notional fills. Fill amounts below 1e6 divided by price truncate to zero collateral and zero fee. Operator-only and dust-sized. Proof attached, fails today.
    • Info, redemption dust stranded in locked after invalid resolutions.
    • Info, trust assumptions for the operator (chooses which leg keeps the crossing surplus) and for the oracle roles (override restarts the clock, trading stays open until the early report lands).

    Test limitations. Slither was not run, per the adapter. The local run needed a forge-std remapping override because the project's auto-remapping points at the package root rather than its src directory. The verifier's environment will need forge-std reachable as forge-std/Test.sol.

    • mediumGuardian cannot correct a wrong early report before the market window ends; it finalizes to YEScontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

      overrideReport() routes through _report(), which re-applies the early-report timing rule. For an early binary market a pending report can only be replaced, before end, by another value with distance > line and invalid == false.

      So the guardian's intended power (README: 'A guardian can override reports during a dispute period before final payouts are set') does not exist for the one case the dispute period is designed for: a reporter error or key compromise that files 'exceeded' early. After disputeSeconds anyone calls finalize() and YES pays 100%, NO holders receive nothing.

      The only workaround is for the guardian to keep re-submitting distance > line every disputeSeconds until end (each override resets finalizeAt), then override with the real value; with the test parameters that is ~11,000 transactions, and missing one window finalizes the wrong outcome.

      Seam: execution (timing require shared by two callers) x first principles (dispute period exists to correct the report).

      Fix: give the guardian path its own timing rule.

      Minimal change: _report(id, distance, dataHash, invalid, bool enforceEarly) with overrideReport passing false (the pending report already passed the timing check, and a replacement of 'exceeded' with 'not exceeded' or 'invalid' is exactly what a dispute is for). Optionally also set finalizeAt for early reports to max(block.timestamp + disputeSeconds, end) so an early report can never finalize before the window it refers to has closed.

      State: early market M (start 99999, end 200000, line 1000, disputeSeconds 10); noHolder split 10e6 and gave YES to yesHolder. t=100000: reporter.report(M, 1001, h, false) succeeds. t=100005: guardian.overrideReport(M, 500, h2, false) -> reverts 'Too early'; guardian.overrideReport(M, 0, h2, true) -> reverts 'Too early'. t=100010: finalize(M) by anyone -> payout[M][0]=1, payout[M][1]=0; noHolder.redeemPositions(M,[2]) -> claimable 0.

      Expected: the override is accepted inside the dispute window and NO pays 10e6 after finalization (see proof test, which fails today with 'Too early').

    • mediumNo resolution path if the reporter never reports: guardian cannot act, one-sided positions are locked forevercontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:34

      Every resolution begins with report(), which only the immutable reporter may call, and overrideReport() requires an existing pending report (finalizeAt != 0). There is no timeout after end at which the guardian (or anyone) can file a report or an invalid resolution.

      If the reporter key is lost, the telemetry service stops, or the reporter simply never calls report() for a market, the condition stays unresolved forever: finalize() reverts 'Not final', redeemPositions() reverts 'Unresolved', and splitPosition is the only other way to touch collateral.

      Holders of a complete pair can exit via mergePositions, but every trader who holds only one side (the normal result of exchange trading) has their collateral locked in ConditionalTokens with no recovery.

      Economic Security guide: 'construct a dependency failure that permanently blocks claims'. This is the documented v1 trust model for liveness, but it is a single immutable EOA with no fallback. Fix that keeps the design: let the guardian call report() once block.timestamp >= end + gracePeriod and reports[id].finalizeAt == 0 (or allow anyone to trigger an invalid resolution after a long grace period, which pays every outcome equally so collateral is at least returned).

      State: early market M (end 200000); noHolder split 10e6 and transferred YES (mask 1) to b.

      No report is ever filed. t=300000: guardian.overrideReport(M, 0, 0, true) -> reverts 'Outside dispute window'; finalize(M) -> reverts 'Not final'; b.redeemPositions(M,[1]) -> reverts 'Unresolved'; b.mergePositions(M,1,10e6) -> reverts (b holds no NO). locked[M] stays 10e6 with no function able to release it.

      Expected: after the window has ended plus a grace period some actor can resolve or invalidate the market.

    • lowFill-or-kill and IOC are enforced only on the taker leg; a FOK order placed as maker is partially filledcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:53

      timeInForce is part of the signed order and is the signer's instruction, but matchOrders() only checks it for matches[i].taker. The operator decides which signed order is the maker and which is the taker of each Match. A FOK order (tif 2) used on the maker leg can be filled for any amount below its size and the remainder stays live; an IOC order (tif 3) on the maker leg is not cancelled after the batch and can be filled again later.

      Only post-only (tif 4) is correctly maker-only. The operator is trusted, so this needs a buggy or misbehaving matching engine, but a signed FOK/IOC policy should be enforced by the contract regardless of leg.

      Fix: in the post-loop, apply the FOK check to both matches[i].maker and matches[i].taker, and cancel IOC orders on both legs (post-only remains a taker-only rejection).

      State: a holds YES (mask 1) 10e6 after split. a signs Order{side 1 (sell), price 600000, size 5e6, timeInForce 2 (FOK)}; b signs Order{side 0, price 700000, size 20e6, tif 0}.

      Operator submits Match{maker=a's FOK order, taker=b's order, amount=3e6}.

      Actual: succeeds, filled[hash(a)] = 3e6, b holds 3e6 YES, a's order remains fillable for 2e6 more.

    • lowExecution notional truncates to zero for small fills: tokens move for zero collateral and zero feecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:65

      av = amount * price / 1e6 rounds down and there is no check that av > 0. Whenever amount * price < 1e6 (amount < 100 units at price 0.01, < 10 units at 0.10, 1 unit at any price below 1.00) the seller delivers outcome tokens and receives nothing, and both fee transfers (av * feeRateBps / 10_000) are also zero. The same truncation makes fees zero for any notional below 10_000 / feeRateBps units.

      The operator chooses amount, so this is only reachable through the trusted matcher and each fill moves at most 1e-6 USDC of value, which is why it is low. It still breaks the invariant that a filled maker receives at least its limit price, and lets a batch of dust fills consume a maker's filled quota without paying.

      Fix: require(av > 0) in _match (or require amount to be a multiple of 100 so price * amount is exact), and round fees up or require them non-zero when feeRateBps > 0.

    • infoPer-mask floor rounding in redeemPositions strands dust in locked[] after invalid or multi-outcome resolutioncontracts/src/ConditionalTokens.sol:84

      When the denominator is greater than 1 (any 'invalid' resolution, where denominator = outcomes) each mask's payout is floored separately. Up to outcomes-1 units per mask per redeem are never paid to anyone; they remain in collateral and in locked[market] with no tokens left to claim them.

      Collateral is never over-paid (the sum of floors is <= locked, which I checked for split, merge, refine, mergeCompleteSet and redeem), so this is conservation-safe and dust-sized; it only means locked[market] does not return to 0 and the contract accumulates unrecoverable units.

      Fix if desired: compute value once over the summed numerator (sum(amount_j * num_j) / denominator) so a single redeem loses at most 1 unit, or merge complementary pairs via mergePositions (which is exact) before redeeming.

    • infoTrust assumptions: operator decides who keeps the crossing surplus and the execution pricecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:73

      Documented for the requester, not a permission bypass. The execution price is always the maker leg's price (av = amount * a.price / 1e6) and in the complementary mint/merge path the taker leg receives the whole surplus between the two limits (bv = amount - av). The operator freely assigns which signed order is maker and which is taker, so it controls which party pays its full limit and which gets price improvement; nothing in the contract ties the label to time priority.

      Likewise the operator chooses fill amounts and ordering, and a resting maker can revert any batch it is in by front-running with cancel()/cancelNonce()/invalidateNonces() or by revoking approval, which is the usual operator-side griefing of an off-chain CLOB. All of this is within the stated design (operator-submitted matches) and only becomes a defect if the operator misbehaves; it is listed so the trust boundary is explicit.

      State: a signs buy YES (mask 1) at 600000, b signs buy NO (mask 2) at 600000 (limits sum to 1.20).

      Operator submits Match{maker=a, taker=b, amount=1e6}: a pays 600000 + 1500 fee, b pays 400000 + 1000 fee.

      Submitting the same two orders with the labels swapped makes b pay 600000 and a pay 400000.

    • infoTrust assumptions: each guardian override restarts the dispute clock, and trading stays open between a threshold crossing and the reporter's transactioncontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

      Two privileged-role properties to document, not bypasses. (1) overrideReport() writes a fresh finalizeAt = now + disputeSeconds, so the guardian can postpone finalization indefinitely by overriding again just before each window closes; there is no cap on the number of overrides or a hard deadline.

      (2) For early binary markets the outcome becomes publicly observable on Squeekchain telemetry before the reporter's report() lands; isTradable() stays true until that transaction, so informed orders can be matched against resting orders in that interval. Both are consistent with the README's v1 trust model (trusted reporter, guardian override, operator matching) and depend on the reporter being fast and the guardian being honest.

      (1) early market M, report at t=100000 sets finalizeAt=100010; guardian override at t=100009 sets finalizeAt=100019; repeating every 9 seconds keeps finalize() reverting 'Not final' for as long as the guardian keeps transacting (test/scratch/Leads.t.sol testGuardianMustChainOverridesUntilEnd drives this to t=200000). (2) state: early market, telemetry shows distance 1001 > line 1000 at time T; until reporter.report() is mined, oracle.isTradable(M) returns true and matchOrders() succeeds, so a buy YES at any price below 1.00 against a resting sell is executable with the outcome already known off-chain.

  5. Audit permissionsAgent #1443found 1 high, 1 low, 2 info

    Audit complete. The findings file is written, validated against the tree, and holds four findings. The source tree is untouched; only contracts/test/scratch/ (proof tests and patched copies, not kept) and .imd-findings.json were created.

    What I reviewed. All five contracts under contracts/src plus the test file, with the Access Control, Trust Gap and Asymmetry passes applied first, and the entry-point inventory from the Trail of Bits guide as the base. I also read the live Sepolia deployment's role addresses and dispute delay to ground the trust story. The toolchain ran: the existing 13 tests pass, and I installed OpenZeppelin and forge-std into the gitignored node_modules for compilation.

    Findings, ranked:

    • High, with proof. The guardian cannot correct a wrong early report. overrideReport is correctly guardian-gated, but it routes through the same _report precondition as the reporter, so before the market ends the guardian may only replace an early YES with another above-line distance. Lowering the distance or flagging the report invalid reverts with "Too early". The deployed dispute window is 300 seconds on 24-hour markets, and finalize is permissionless, so a mistaken early report is irreversible and NO holders lose everything. The README promises exactly the power that is missing. The proof test fails on current code and passes with a one-flag fix I verified on a patched copy.
    • Low, with proof. Fill-or-kill and immediate-or-cancel are enforced only on the taker slot, and the maker/taker role is not part of the signed order. The operator can partially fill an FOK order and leave an IOC order resting. Operator-only trigger, bounded by the signer's limit price.
    • Info. Each guardian override restarts the dispute window with no cap, so the guardian can postpone finalization indefinitely. Documented as a privileged power.
    • Info. No fallback if the reporter goes silent, and all roles are immutable with a single-use setOracle. One-sided holders have no exit, and fixing the high finding requires redeploying all three core contracts.

    What I checked and found sound. Role gating on every state-changing entry point, the one-time oracle setup, signature recovery and replay protection, nonce and cancel paths, collateral conservation across split, merge, refine, redeem and the NegRiskAdapter conversion, the confused-deputy surface of the Exchange's approvals, and pause behaviour (pausing blocks matching only, never user exits). No permission bypass exists for an unprivileged actor. Math, economics and control-flow passes were lighter than the assigned permissions area, and a clean pass is not proof of absence.

    • highGuardian cannot correct a wrong early report: overrideReport inherits the reporter's 'distance > line' precondition, so the dispute window is inoperative for early binary reportscontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

      The README states the guardian 'can override reports during a dispute period before final payouts are set', and the guardian is the only check on the reporter. overrideReport (lines 33-36) is correctly gated to the guardian and to the window [report, finalizeAt), but it funnels into the same _report() as the reporter, and line 40 requires either block.timestamp >= m.end or (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid).

      For an early-reporting threshold market this means the guardian may only replace an early YES report with another distance that is still above the line (same outcome). Any correction that matters, lowering the distance to or below the line or flagging the report invalid, reverts with 'Too early' until m.end.

      The dispute window is disputeSeconds from the report (300 s on the Sepolia deployment, read from the oracle at 0x7748d1d9...), while hosted markets run 24 h, so for any early report made more than 300 s before noon the window has closed long before m.end, and finalize() is permissionless: anyone may lock in the wrong result at finalizeAt. Expected (per README and the guardian role): during the dispute period the guardian can replace or invalidate the pending report.

      Actual: for the early-report path the guardian has no corrective power; a mistaken or malicious early YES report from the reporter key irreversibly pays the whole market to YES holders and NO holders lose everything. This is the exact scenario the guardian exists for, so it is a violation of the requested behaviour, not a design preference.

      The existing test testEarlyStrictAndDispute only overrides 1001 -> 1100 (same side of the line) and therefore never exercises the failing direction. Fix (preserves design): let the guardian path bypass the early-report precondition, e.g. pass a flag so _report checks require(byGuardian || block.timestamp >= m.end || (m.early && distance > m.line && !invalid)).

      If the team prefers that a sub-line early correction should re-open trading instead of settling NO early, add a guardian 'retract' that zeroes reports[id] (making isTradable true again) and keep the invalid override; either way the guardian must be able to act inside the window.

      Note that oracle, reporter and guardian are immutable and ConditionalTokens.setOracle is single-use (line 26), so deploying the fix requires redeploying ConditionalTokens, DistanceOracle and Exchange together. The attached proof assumes the first fix shape (guardian exempt from the precondition); a retract-style fix would need its second test adjusted.

      State: DistanceOracle(ctf, reporter, guardian, 300); market M created with start=99999, end=200000, line=1000, early=true, no buckets; a trader split 10e6 collateral into YES(mask 1)/NO(mask 2).

      Steps: (1) t=100000 reporter.report(M, 1001, hash, false) -> accepted, finalizeAt=100300, isTradable(M)=false.

      (2) t=100060 guardian.overrideReport(M, 900, hash2, true) -> reverts 'Too early' (line 40: timestamp < end, and !invalid is false). guardian.overrideReport(M, 900, hash2, false) -> reverts 'Too early' (900 > 1000 is false).

      Only overrideReport(M, >1000, ..., false) is accepted, which does not change the outcome.

      (3) t=100300 anyone calls finalize(M) -> ctf.reportPayouts(M,[1,0]); payout(M,0)=1, payout(M,1)=0.

      (4) guardian.overrideReport now reverts 'Outside dispute window'.

      Expected: step (2) succeeds and NO retains value (invalid -> payouts [1,1], trader redeems 5e6 for mask 2).

      Actual: NO holders receive 0 and the result is irreversible 99700 s before the market even ends.

    • lowSigned timeInForce (FOK/IOC) is enforced only on the operator-chosen taker leg; a fill-or-kill order placed in the maker slot is partially filledcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:50

      timeInForce is part of the EIP-712 Order the user signs, but the maker/taker role is not signed: the operator decides which of two signed orders goes in Match.maker and which in Match.taker. The post-match loop at lines 50-56 reads only matches[i].taker, so FOK ('all or nothing') and IOC ('cancel after this match') are honoured for the taker leg and silently ignored for the maker leg (post-only is correctly a taker-only restriction).

      Asymmetry: _check() applies the same validation to both legs (price grid, expiry, nonce, signature, fill cap) but the policy loop applies to one.

      Impact: an FOK signer receives a partial fill they explicitly refused, and the remainder of their FOK or IOC order keeps resting and can be filled again later instead of being cancelled; the signer must notice and call cancel() themselves. Only the trusted operator can trigger this (it submits the match and picks the slots), so it is a trust-gap defect rather than a permission bypass, and the loss is bounded by the signer's own limit price.

      Related trust assumption to document: because the role is unsigned, the operator also chooses which crossed order's price executes (always a.price, the maker's), i.e. who receives the price improvement inside the spread, and could insert its own order as the taker to capture it.

      Fix: run the FOK/IOC checks over both matches[i].maker and matches[i].taker (keep the post-only revert on the taker only), or include an explicit role in the signed Order so the operator cannot reassign it.

      State: Exchange with operator O; a holds 10e6 YES(mask 1); b has collateral; both approved. a signs Order(maker=a, tokenId=YES, side=1 sell, price=600000, size=20e6, expiry=190000, nonce=1, feeRateBps=25, timeInForce=2 (FOK)). b signs a GTC buy at 700000, size 20e6.

      Operator calls matchOrders([Match(maker=aFOK, makerSig, taker=bBuy, takerSig, amount=1e6)]).

      Expected: revert 'FOK incomplete' (filled 1e6 != size 20e6) and filled[hash(aFOK)] == 0.

      Actual: the match executes, filled[hash(aFOK)] == 1e6, a sold 1e6 of a 20e6 all-or-nothing order and the rest stays live.

      Same with timeInForce=3 (IOC) in the maker slot: expected cancelled[hash] == true after the first fill, actual false and the order remains fillable.

    • infoTrust assumption: every guardian override restarts the dispute window, so the guardian can postpone finalization indefinitelycontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

      Documented as a privileged-power risk, not a bypass: overrideReport (guardian only, inside the window) writes a fresh Report with finalizeAt = block.timestamp + disputeSeconds. There is no cap on the number of overrides or on total elapsed dispute time, and the override may carry identical values.

      A guardian can therefore keep a settled-looking market from ever finalizing, and with it keep winners from redeeming (redeemPositions requires resolved) while isTradable is already false, so the exchange is also closed for that market. Holders of complete sets can still exit via mergePositions; one-sided holders cannot.

      Minimal fix if the team wants to bound the role: cap the number of overrides (e.g. one) or stop extending finalizeAt when the override does not change the outcome; otherwise record this as an accepted guardian power.

      State: market M ended; reporter.report(M, d, h, false) at t -> finalizeAt = t+300.

      Steps: at t+299 guardian.overrideReport(M, d, h, false) -> finalizeAt = t+599; at t+598 again -> t+898; repeat every 299 s.

      Expected (by the README's 'dispute period'): a bounded period after which payouts are set.

      Actual: finalize(M) reverts 'Not final' for as long as the guardian keeps calling; redeemPositions(M, ...) reverts 'Unresolved' for every holder.

    • infoTrust assumption: no fallback if the reporter is silent, and all roles are immutable (oracle one-shot in ConditionalTokens)contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:30

      Documented as a liveness/centralization risk, not a bypass. report() is reporter-only and overrideReport() requires an existing report (reports[id].finalizeAt != 0), so if the reporter key is lost or offline after a market's end there is no path for the guardian or anyone else to resolve or invalidate the market, and no path to rotate the reporter: reporter, guardian, operator and feeRecipient are immutables, and ConditionalTokens.setOracle (ConditionalTokens.sol:26) can be called once only.

      Consequence for users: after end, isTradable is false (exchange closed for that market) and redeemPositions reverts 'Unresolved' forever; a holder of only one side (e.g. YES bought on the exchange) has no exit, while complete-set holders can still mergePositions. The same immutability means the fix for the high finding requires redeploying all three core contracts.

      Suggested mitigation that keeps the single-reporter design: allow the guardian to file the first report once block.timestamp >= end + graceSeconds, or allow a permissionless 'invalid' resolution after a long timeout.

      State: market M with end=200000, reporter never calls report(M, ...).

      At t=200001: isTradable(M) == false; guardian.overrideReport(M, 0, 0, true) reverts 'Outside dispute window' (finalizeAt == 0); finalize(M) reverts 'Not final'; holder of 10e6 YES calls redeemPositions(M, [1]) -> reverts 'Unresolved'.

      Expected per product description: 'Winning positions become redeemable after reporting, the dispute period and finalization'.

      Actual: no actor other than the single immutable reporter can ever start that sequence.

    I've written 9 findings to .imd-findings.json: 1 high, 1 medium, 3 low and 4 info. The 19 specialist reports became 9 findings after merging duplicates; the one item I dropped is explained below. I didn't change any source files. The scratch tests and the dependencies I installed to run them are removed again.

    How I checked them: I ran the four specialist proof files on the current code. All four fail for the reason their finding gives. I then applied each proposed fix to a temporary copy of the source: all four proofs passed and the existing 13 tests still passed, and the source is back to its original state. For every lower-severity finding I wrote a scratch Foundry test that shows the behaviour on the current code, and all of them reproduced.

    highThe guardian can't correct or invalidate a wrong early report. Its override goes through the reporter's "Too early" check, so before the market ends it can only replace an over-the-line report with another one. The dispute window closes first, anyone can then finalize, and NO holders lose their whole stake.DistanceOracle.sol:404 specialists (flow, math, permissions, economics)
    mediumOn every newly created market, the first trade through the exchange (minting a YES/NO pair from two opposing buys) reverts with "Market closed". The exchange only recognises a token after someone has split or refined it directly. Markets are untradeable until then, but no funds are lost.Exchange.sol:64flow
    lowFill-or-kill and immediate-or-cancel settings are only enforced when the order is in the taker slot. In the maker slot the same order can be partly filled, or stay live after its fill.Exchange.sol:533 specialists
    lowThe trade value rounds down with no minimum. Small fills move tokens for zero payment and zero fee, and when minting a pair the taker can pay 1 unit above its signed price.Exchange.sol:65math, economics
    lowIf the reporter never reports, nobody else can start resolution. Holders of only one side are locked out for good.DistanceOracle.sol:30permissions (info), economics (medium)
    infoEach guardian override restarts the dispute clock, so the guardian can delay finalization indefinitely. Recorded as a trust assumption about that role.DistanceOracle.sol:413 specialists
    infoThe dispute deadline is stored as a uint64 and silently truncates. A dispute delay of 2**64 seconds or more removes the dispute window or blocks finalization. Only reachable through a deliberately absurd deployment setting.DistanceOracle.sol:41math
    infoRedemption rounds each position down separately, so a few units of dust are permanently stuck after an invalid or multi-outcome resolution.ConditionalTokens.sol:84math, economics
    infoThe operator decides which order is maker and which is taker, so it decides who gets the price improvement when orders cross. Recorded as a trust assumption.Exchange.sol:73economics

    Severity changes:

    • Guardian override: two specialists rated it medium and two rated it high. I kept high because the wrong outcome becomes final and permanent.
    • Missing reporter: rated medium and info by different specialists; I set low. It's a missing fallback for a role that is meant to be trusted, not a way around anyone's permissions.
    • Deadline truncation: moved from low to info, since it needs a nonsensical deployment value. I didn't check the deployed contract's actual dispute delay (300 seconds according to the math specialist).

    Dropped: the economics claim that people can trade on telemetry after the threshold is crossed but before the reporter's transaction lands. Nothing in the contracts can show that beyond isTradable being true until a report exists.

    Proofs attached: the high finding carries the flow specialist's proof and the medium carries its fresh-market proof. Bo

    • highGuardian cannot correct or invalidate a wrong early report: overrideReport inherits the reporter's 'Too early' gate, so the wrong outcome finalizescontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:40

      (1) reporter report(M, 1001, h, false) -> ok, finalizeAt=100010.

      (2) guardian overrideReport(M, 900, h2, false) at t=100000: expected accepted; actual revert 'Too early'.

      (3) guardian overrideReport(M, 0, h3, true): expected accepted; actual revert 'Too early'.

      (4) at t=100010 anyone finalize(M) -> payout(M,0)=1, payout(M,1)=0; the NO holder redeems 0 instead of 10e6.

      Reproduced: all four specialist proof files (8 tests) fail with 'Too early' on the current code.

      With the isOverride fix applied to a scratch copy of the source, all 8 pass and the 13 existing Wheel tests still pass.

      The attached proof is the audit_flow one.

    • mediumComplementary-mint match reverts 'Market closed' on every fresh market: positions(tokenId) is only written by a prior split or refinecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:64

      Actual: revert 'Market closed' because ctf.positions(tokenId(M,1)) == (0x0, 0).

      Reproduced: the attached proof fails with 'Market closed' on the current code and passes once prepare registers singleton and complement ids (checked on a scratch copy of the source).

    • lowSigned FOK/IOC time-in-force is enforced only on the taker leg; the same order in the maker slot is partially filled or stays livecontracts/src/Exchange.sol:53

      Actual: success, filled[hash(a)] == 3e6.

      The same pair with the FOK order as taker does revert 'FOK incomplete'.

      (2) a signs the same sell with tif=3, nonce 3.

      Match{maker: IOC, taker: b, amount 2e6} -> cancelled[hash] == false, and a second matchOrders for 1e6 succeeds (filled == 3e6).

      Reproduced in scratch tests testFokMakerPartiallyFilled and testIocMakerStaysLive (both pass, confirming the behaviour).

    • lowFill notional amount*price/1e6 floors without a minimum: small fills move tokens for zero collateral and zero fee, and in the mint path the taker can pay above its signed limitcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:65

    • lowNo resolution path if the reporter never reports: the guardian cannot start one, and one-sided positions stay locked forevercontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:30

      At t=300000: isTradable(M) == false; guardian overrideReport(M, 0, 0, true) reverts 'Outside dispute window'; finalize(M) reverts 'Not final'; a redeemPositions(M,[1]) reverts 'Unresolved'.

      Expected: some actor can resolve or invalidate after a grace period.

      Reproduced in scratch test testNoReportNoResolution.

    • infoTrust assumption: each guardian override restarts the dispute clock, so the guardian can postpone finalization indefinitelycontracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

If a bound is wanted: keep the original finalizeAt on override, extend it at most once, or cap it at max(original, m.end + disputeSeconds).

      disputeSeconds=10; at t=200000 the reporter reports M (finalizeAt 200010).

      The guardian calls overrideReport(M, 900, 0, false) every 9 s, 50 times; finalizeAt becomes 200460 and finalize(M) still reverts 'Not final' at t=200459.

      Reproduced in scratch test testGuardianExtendsIndefinitely.

    • infouint64 cast of block.timestamp + disputeSeconds truncates; a delay of 2**64 or more wraps finalizeAt (zero dispute window or never finalizable)contracts/src/DistanceOracle.sol:41

      disputeSeconds is a uint256 bounded only by >= 1 (line 18).

      At t=200001 report(id, 0, 0, true); at t=200011 finalize -> payouts [1,1,1], denominator 3. a redeemPositions(id, [1,6]).

      Expected claimable 10_000_000.

      Actual 9_999_999, and locked[id] == 1 permanently.

    • infoTrust assumption: the unsigned maker/taker role lets the operator decide which crossing order gets the price improvementcontracts/src/Exchange.sol:73
