Design criticAgent #528found 1 medium, 5 low
Review complete. The findings file holds six substantiated findings, none high.
Area Count Brief requirements 3 met, 0 missing, 0 faked Broken features 0 Product on the first screen at 390 yes taste@1 checks passed 16 of 16 Copy findings 2 Share card present (title, favicon, og:title, og:image, description, 1200×630 PNG) Requirements
- "A website showing the top tweets about identity MD": met. Nine real posts with X links, ranked by captured likes, in
src/posts.jsonand the feed insrc/App.tsx. The site says plainly that it is a snapshot of a curated set, so it is not faked. - "dark green": met. Every surface token in
src/styles.cssis a green from #0b140f up to the #bbeb8f accent. - "a theme of pepes armed with AI": met. Three Pepes with headset, visor and AI laptop in the hero art, the frog favicon, and the same squad on the share card.
The idea in one sentence: a dark-green reading room for nine Identity.md tweets, carried by one squad of AI-armed Pepes in the hero card and the share card.
What I checked. The probe ran offline on the export and passed all sixteen checks at 320, 390 and 1440. I drove search, topic filter, sort, save, copy, context, both dialogs, the saved view, its empty state, load more and the sidebar topic buttons in Chromium and WebKit at 390, with no console errors in either. The first phone screen shows the headline, search, filters and the first tweet with its actions.
Findings, most severe first
- Medium, taste: five controls open the same About dialog, and the sidebar footer wraps one of them in two taglines. Delete the sidebar footer and the "Get to know the feed" button.
- Low, bug: at 390 the hero art box starts 7px above the card and 2px past its right edge, and its crop slices the left Pepe's face. A verified override fixes both.
- Low, taste: the sidebar "Find your corner" list duplicates the filter row above the feed.
- Low, bug: the "/" keyboard hint shows in the search field on touch screens.
- Low, taste: "The collection" label beside the feed heading repeats the heading.
- Low, taste: on the phone the hero description and each card's "View on X" drop to 12px, the smallest size on the screen.

Width 390x844 (Chromium and WebKit, same numbers).
Load dist/index.html, measure getBoundingClientRect: .hero = x 16..374, y 89..263; .hero-art = x 216..376, y 82..247, so the art starts 7px above and ends 2px right of the card.
Screenshot test/scratch/chromium-390-hero.png shows the art covering the card's top-right corner and a vertical cut through the left frog's head at x=216.
taste: five controls on one page open the same About dialog, two of them wrapped in sidebar sloganssrc/App.tsx:138
taste: the sidebar's 'Find your corner' list is a second copy of the topic filter rowsrc/App.tsx:133
Now: the filter row above the feed (line 120) and the sidebar list (lines 133-136) both set the same
topicstate with the same three labels; the sidebar copy adds a count and a four-word description and scrolls back to the feed heading. At 1440 the two controls are 400px apart on one screen; at 390 the list appears after the sixth card and, on tap, jumps the reader back up 271px.Change to: delete the
.topic-sectionblock (lines 133-136) and its CSS (styles.css lines 152-161, 287); the 'Meet Identity.md' section moves up to sit under the pond note. If the counts are wanted, append them to the filter buttons on line 120 as{item} {posts.filter(p => p.topic === item).length}for the three topics. Why: one state gets one control; the fix order is delete first, and the filter row is the control that sits above what it changes.
Width 1440x900 and 390x844, Chromium.
Click 'Building' in the filter row: status reads '4 tweets' and the sidebar 'Building' row goes active; click sidebar 'Culture' at 390: status reads '1 tweet', scrollY jumps to 271 with the feed heading at y=20.
Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/1440.png shows 'All posts / Building / Ideas / Culture' at y=526 and 'Find your corner: Building / Ideas / Culture' at y=708 on the same screen.
bug: the '/' keyboard hint sits in the search field on touch screenssrc/App.tsx:119
Now: an empty search shows a
<kbd>/</kbd>badge at the right of the field at every width, including a 390-wide touch viewport where no physical '/' key exists; it reads as a control but does nothing on tap.Change to: keep the markup and add
@media (hover: none) { .search-wrap kbd { display: none; } }next to thekbdrule on styles.css line 100. The search icon, label and clear button stay; the field's right padding already covers the empty slot. Why: a direction belongs next to the control it explains and only where it is true; a shortcut hint on a phone explains nothing.
Width 390x844 with isMobile and hasTouch, Chromium and WebKit.
Load dist/index.html; document.querySelector('.search-wrap kbd') is present (measured true in both engines).
Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png shows the boxed '/' at the right end of 'Search tweets or authors'.
taste: 'The collection' label beside the feed heading says nothingsrc/App.tsx:118
Now: the feed heading row shows 'Top tweets' at the left and 'The collection' at the right in 12px muted text; in the saved view the same slot says 'On this device', which carries information. 'The collection' repeats what the heading already says and is the only text on the row that does no work.
Change to: render the span only in the saved view:
{view === 'saved' && <span className="collection-label">On this device</span>}. The heading row keeps its flex layout; 'Top tweets' stays at the left with empty space to its right. Why: a fact or a noun beats a label; a line that repeats a title is cut.
Width 390x844 and 1440x900, Chromium.
Load dist/index.html; the row at y=291 (390) reads 'Top tweets' then 'The collection' (computed font-size 12px, colour var(--text-muted)).
Switch to #saved: the same slot reads 'On this device'.
Screenshots test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png and test/scratch/webkit-390-savedempty.png show both states.
taste: on the phone the hero's one-line description and each card's 'View on X' drop to 12px, the smallest type on the screensrc/styles.css:261
Width 390x844, Chromium and WebKit.
Load dist/index.html; getComputedStyle font sizes: .hero-copy > p 12px, .post-link 12px, .metrics 12px, .post-date 12px, .source-link 12px, .results-row > p 12px.
Probe line (type-sizes): '390: 5 sizes in use, 5 with one-offs (12px×83, 14px×13, 16px×8, 20px×4, 28px×3)'.
Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png: 'View on X' at y=1600 (2x) is visibly smaller than 'Read context' above it.
