The whole request

Build Swarm Cities on Sepolia and host the site on IPFS. Publish source to GitHub. Include an independent adversarial review of the contracts before deploy. Do not write a research report. Do not verify tweets on-chain.

Token: ERC-20 name Swarm Cities, symbol GRID, 18 decimals, fixed supply 1000000000. Mint the full supply once to the deployer. Transfers are plain with no fees, limits, pausing, or further minting. No owner. No proxies. No upgrades. Do not implement fee-on-transfer.

City registry: a 16 by 16 grid, 256 plots, ids 0 through 255, x = id mod 16, y = id divided by 16. buyCity(cityId) only if the plot is empty, the caller owns no city, and the caller holds at least 1000 GRID before paying. Price in GRID is 10000 * (256 + soldPlots)^2 / 65536 tokens, where soldPlots is how many plots are already owned. On buyCity the caller pays that price plus a 4% fee on the price: burn the price; of the 4% fee, 50% City Rewards pool, 30% Resource Pot, 10% burn to address(0), 10% treasury 0x5b95A971B4583A5f011E9DA082acdD679b870D06. Emit TaxTaken for that fee. Cities are soulbound: no transfer function. A new city starts at level 1 with 0 resources.

levelUp(cityId) is owner-only. Going from level n to n+1 consumes 100 * (n+1)^2 resources. Maximum level is 20. Reward claim weight is level squared. claimRewards(cityId) is owner-only and pays the caller their accrued GRID from the rewards pool.

Only GrantExecutor may call grantResources(cityId, amount) and recordHeartbeat(cityId1, amount1, cityId2, amount2, cityId3, amount3). Those amounts come out of the resource pot. recordHeartbeat stores the three winners for the site. Deploy GrantExecutor so only 0x5b95A971B4583A5f011E9DA082acdD679b870D06 can call it. That same address can pause and unpause grants only. Buys and claims stay live.

Website, dark terminal style: 16 by 16 grid showing empty or owned and level, connect wallet, buy an empty plot, city panel with level, resources and claimable rewards, rewards-pool and resource-pot balances, last heartbeat winners, and this line: Buy a city, the fee fills the pots, a heartbeat grows the top cities, higher level earns more of the fee. Read the live Sepolia contracts.

Events: CityBought, ResourcesGranted, CityLeveled, RewardsClaimed, TaxTaken, HeartbeatRecorded.

  1. Build contract projectAgent #112050 files changed

Implemented GRID, CityRegistry, GrantExecutor, ABI exports, and deployment documentation.

Validation passed: forge build, forge test, and forge fmt --check—59 tests, including 4,096 invariant calls.

README documents burn semantics, deployment roles, and the resource-funding assumption that limits reachable progression to level 12. Final manifest review and deployment remain with later assignments.

  4. Audit permissionsAgent #47found 1 low, 2 info

The review is complete. No files in the tree were changed; the scratch test was removed and only .imd-findings.json was written.

Result: no permission bypass found. The access-control surface is small and every privileged path is bound at construction to immutable addresses. There is no initializer, no msg.sender use in constructors, no escalation route, and the reentrancy guard covers every registry mutator. All 59 existing tests pass, and the three ABI exports in docs/abi/ match the compiled ABIs exactly.

    Findings written (ranked):

    • Low: buyCity has no price bound. The quote a buyer reads and the price buyCity pulls can differ when another purchase lands first. A buyer who approved an unlimited allowance pays the higher price without consent. Reproduced: quoted total 10,400 GRID, actual pull 10,481.41 GRID after one front-running buy, and the front-runner captures half of the victim's reward share. The brief fixes the buyCity(uint256) signature, so the suggested fix is an added overload with a maxTotal argument, or a firm ABI-doc rule against unlimited approvals.
    • Info: a new city shares in its own purchase fee. The first buyer can claim back the full 200 GRID reward leg immediately, making the effective first fee 2% rather than 4%. The README documents this choice; the brief is ambiguous, so it is flagged for the requester to confirm.
    • Info: operator trust assumption. The operator, who is also the fee treasury, can buy a city, route the whole resource pot to it, level it up to dominate rewards, and pause grants forever. Every step needs the operator key, so this is the brief's intended power recorded with actor and preconditions, not a defect.

Coverage: all 12 listed entry points have rows (11 hold, buyCity carries finding 1), plus rows for the immutable-roles invariant, the ABI-export match, and one unreached row for launch.json constructor arguments, since no manifest exists in the tree yet. The manifest reviewer should verify that operator_ and treasury_ are the literal approved wallet, or $owner only if the pinned policy owner equals it.

    • lowbuyCity has no caller-supplied price bound: an intervening purchase silently raises the amount pulled from a buyer who approved more than quote().totalsrc/CityRegistry.sol:136

Asymmetry between the view the frontend reads (quote()) and the execution path (buyCity). quote() is a function of soldPlots at read time, buyCity recomputes it at execution time and pulls whatever that is via transferFrom with no maxTotal/deadline argument. The only protection is an exact allowance, which is documented in a NatSpec comment but not enforced; wallets that default to an unlimited approval (the common UX) pay the higher price without consent.

Because the price is strictly increasing in soldPlots, every buy in the same block ahead of the victim increases the victim's payment. An attacker who buys first also captures a share of the victim's larger fee through rewardIndex (weight 1 each, so half of the victim's 50% reward share). Not a loss of principal, so low, but it is a concrete quote/execution asymmetry with an identifiable victim.

Minimal fix preserving the brief's buyCity(uint256) ABI: add an overload buyCity(uint256 cityId, uint256 maxTotal) that reverts if total > maxTotal, and have the frontend call it; or document in the ABI README that only an exact approval is safe and that unlimited approvals must not be used.

Fresh deployment, victim and attacker each hold 20,000 GRID.

      Victim reads quote() -> total = 10,400 GRID and calls token.approve(registry, type(uint256).max).

      Attacker's buyCity(0) lands first.

      Victim's buyCity(1) then executes with soldPlots = 1: price = 10000e18*257^2/65536 = 10,078.277 GRID, fee 403.131, total pulled = 10,481.408691406250000000 GRID.

Expected (from the quote the victim acted on): 10,400 GRID.

Actual: 10,481.408691 GRID, 81.41 GRID more than quoted, with no revert.

      Attacker's claimableRewards(0) is 300.78 GRID (200 own share + 100.78 from the victim's fee); victim's is 100.78 GRID.

Verified with a scratch Foundry test (removed).

    • infoA new city is included in the distribution of its own purchase fee, so the first buyer immediately reclaims its whole 200 GRID reward sharesrc/CityRegistry.sol:151

Economics x asymmetry note, not a permission bypass. rewardIndexPaid[cityId] is set at line 144 and totalWeight is incremented at line 146 before the index is advanced at line 151, so the buyer's own city receives 1/totalWeight of the 50% reward share of the fee it just paid. For the first buyer that is 100% of the reward share: the nominal 4% fee is effectively 2% for that purchase, and the treasury/resource/burn legs are unaffected.

The README documents this choice ('A purchase's reward allocation includes the newly purchased level-1 city'). The brief ('the fee fills the pots ... higher level earns more of the fee') can be read either way, so this is flagged for the requester to confirm rather than as a defect.

If the intent is that a fee rewards only pre-existing cities, advance rewardIndex before incrementing totalWeight and setting rewardIndexPaid, and when totalWeight == 0 leave the share in rewardsPool.

      Fresh deployment.

Buyer with 20,000 GRID approves and calls buyCity(5): pays 10,400 GRID, of which 200 GRID goes to rewardsPool.

In the same transaction sequence the buyer calls claimRewards(5): returns 200e18 and rewardsPool becomes 0.

Expected under the 'fee rewards existing cities' reading: claimRewards reverts NothingToClaim and the 200 GRID stays in the pool for future cities.

Actual: 200 GRID returned to the payer immediately.

    • infoTrust assumption: the operator (also the fee treasury) may direct the entire resource pot to a city it owns and may pause grants indefinitely; nothing on chain constrains winner selectionsrc/GrantExecutor.sol:64

Access x economics trust gap, documented as required rather than reported as a bug (the brief assigns exactly these powers to 0x5b95A971B4583A5f011E9DA082acdD679b870D06). The operator address may itself buy a city (no exclusion), route every grantResources/recordHeartbeat allocation to that city, level it up to raise its reward weight (level^2) and thereby collect a growing share of all later purchase fees, while also receiving the 10% treasury leg.

The operator may also pauseGrants forever, after which resourcePot is permanently stranded (buys and claims stay live as the brief requires). GrantExecutor.grantResources/recordHeartbeat additionally take the registry address as a caller argument, so the operator can target any contract exposing those selectors; that is harmless because the executor holds no funds and CityRegistry binds grantExecutor immutably.

No unprivileged amplifier exists: every step needs the operator key. The README already states these assumptions; the launch reviewer should confirm the manifest passes the literal approved address for both operator_ and treasury_ (or $owner only if the pinned policy owner equals it), since no launch.json exists in the tree yet.

      Fresh deployment, operator = treasury = 0x5b95...D06.

      Attacker-independent user buys city 0 (pot = 120 GRID).

Operator buys city 1 (pot = 240.939 GRID).

      Operator calls GrantExecutor.grantResources(registry, 1, 240939331054687500000): succeeds, city 1 resources = 240.939, pot = 0, city 0 receives nothing.

Operator calls pauseGrants(): all further grants revert GrantsPaused with no timeout.

Expected under the brief: exactly this (operator discretion), so no revert is missing; the row records the actor and preconditions.

  5. Audit mathAgent #2found 1 low, 1 info

The review is complete. Findings and coverage are in .imd-findings.json, the scratch tests are removed, and no source file was changed.

Outcome: the math in my area holds. I found no fund-loss, mis-payment or solvency defect, so no proof-carrying finding was warranted.

    What I verified

    • Price formula is exact at all 256 sale steps. The dividend carries a factor of 2^22, so division by 65536 leaves no remainder, and the later 4% fee and 50/30/10/10 split also have zero remainder at every price. The slither divide-before-multiply lead is therefore not a defect.
    • Reward index cannot round to zero or overflow. Sum of claimable never exceeds the pool, with 133 wei of dust after all 256 sales. Level checkpoints use the old weight and the weight update cannot underflow.
    • Custody identity holds after 256 buys, grants and 40 claims. Effects precede the checked transfers under the reentrancy guard, so the aderyn lead is not a defect.
    • The exported ABIs match the compiled build byte for byte.

    Findings recorded

    • Low: the level cap of 20 is numerically unreachable. All 256 sales fund 71,500.078125 GRID of resources, while level 13 needs 81,800 cumulative resources at the 1 GRID per resource conversion the implementation chose. No city can pass level 12. The README documents this, but the conversion is immutable after deploy, so the requester should confirm it matches the intended economy.
    • Info: a heartbeat cannot be recorded while fewer than three plots are owned, because the three winners must be distinct, owned, and positively funded.

Coverage rows answer all 12 listed entry points plus the two invariants and the two static-analysis leads. Nothing in my area was left unreached.

    • lowLevel cap of 20 is numerically unreachable: total resource funding over all 256 sales (71,500.078125 GRID) is below the 81,800 resources needed to reach level 13src/CityRegistry.sol:166

Seam: boundary x economics. Resources are minted only from the resource pot, which receives 30% of the 4% fee (1.2% of the base price). Summing the exact price formula 10000e18*(256+s)^2/65536 over s=0..255 gives 5,958,339.84375 GRID of base price, 238,333.59375 GRID of fee and 71,500.078125 GRID of resource pot for the entire life of the registry.

With RESOURCE_UNIT = 1 ether (one resource costs one GRID, an implementation choice the brief does not fix), the cumulative cost of levelUp is 100*sum_{n=2}^{L} n^2 resources: 64,900 for level 12, 81,800 for level 13, 286,900 for level 20. Even if the operator grants every unit of the pot to a single city, no city can pass level 12, so MAX_LEVEL = 20 and the weights 169..400 are dead state.

The brief says 'Maximum level is 20' and the site line promises 'a heartbeat grows the top cities'. The README documents this ceiling as a known assumption; it is reported so the requester can decide whether the 1 GRID = 1 resource conversion (or the 30% pot share) matches the intended game economy before deployment, because it is immutable afterwards. No funds are at risk; the arithmetic itself is exact (all 256 splits verified with zero remainder).

      State: fresh deployment.

Buy all 256 plots from 256 wallets (each approves quote().total).

      Observe resourcePot() == 71500078125000000000000 (71,500.078125e18).

Operator calls GrantExecutor.grantResources(registry, 0, resourcePot()) so city 0 holds every resource ever fundable.

Owner of city 0 calls levelUp(0) repeatedly: it succeeds 11 times (level 12, cumulative cost 64,900e18) and the 12th call reverts InsufficientResources because levelUpCost(0) == 16,900e18 > remaining 6,600.078125e18.

Expected per brief: levels up to 20 are attainable; actual: level 13..20 can never be reached by any city under any operator behaviour.

Verified in scratch test test/scratch/MathProbe.t.sol::testAllSplitsExactAndTotals (asserts resourcePot < 81,800e18 after 256 buys).

    • inforecordHeartbeat cannot be executed while fewer than three plots are owned, so no heartbeat winners can be published early in the launchsrc/CityRegistry.sol:211

Boundary: the three winner ids must be distinct and each must be an owned city with a positive grant (_grant reverts InvalidAmount on 0 and CityUnowned on an empty plot). With soldPlots < 3 every combination of arguments reverts, so heartbeatCount stays 0 and the site's 'last heartbeat winners' panel has nothing to show until a third buyer appears. grantResources still works for single cities, so resources are not blocked, only the heartbeat record.

This matches a strict reading of 'stores the three winners', so it is reported as an operational boundary for the operator and frontend rather than a defect.

State: two plots sold (cities 0 and 1).

      Operator calls GrantExecutor.recordHeartbeat(registry, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1): reverts DuplicateWinner.

      Operator calls recordHeartbeat(registry, 0, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1): reverts CityUnowned (city 2 empty).

Any amount of 0 reverts InvalidAmount.

      Verified in test/scratch/MathProbe.t.sol::testHeartbeatNeedsThreeCities.

  10. Frontend for contractAgent #112052 files changed

Implemented source in web/, static export in dist/, and documentation in docs/.

    • Build, typecheck, manifest verification, 15 browser scenarios and 7 swap checks pass.
    • Export: 534 KB; submission files remain below 8 MiB.
    • Transactions stay locked because deployed operator/treasury addresses conflict with the approved workflow.
    • Git commit was blocked by read-only .git; deliverables are present in the working tree.

Validation and limitations. Design documentation is in docs/DESIGN.md to respect the path restriction.
