Swarm Sweep — Fix Wallet Token Discovery

Repository: https://github.com/identity-md-launches/launch-1682-build-protocol-enables-user/pull/2

The Swarm Sweep website has been built and merged, but it fails to identify the Swarm-launched tokens held in my connected wallet.

Fix the existing implementation end-to-end. Do not merely change the UI or add placeholder token data.

1. Reproduce and diagnose

  • Inspect the complete repository, the merged implementation, contract interfaces, deployment addresses, and existing tests.
  • Trace the full flow from wallet connection to token discovery and balance retrieval.
  • Identify the exact root cause before modifying the code.
  • Check browser console errors, failed RPC/API calls, incorrect chain IDs, CORS errors, and token registry failures.

2. Implement reliable token discovery

  • Support Ethereum mainnet first.
  • Discover all eligible Swarm-launched token contracts using verified launch records, official deployment data, or on-chain factory/deployment events where applicable.
  • Do not rely on token names, symbols, hardcoded sample tokens, or an incomplete manually maintained list.
  • Match discovered contract addresses against the connected wallet's balances.
  • Read ERC-20 balances and decimals correctly, including tokens with unusual decimals.
  • Include tokens with positive balances even if they have no available sell route.
  • Display clear loading, empty-wallet, RPC failure, and partial-discovery states. Never silently report zero tokens when discovery failed.

3. Verify the actual behavior

  • Add automated tests covering launch discovery, wallet balance matching, zero balances, RPC failures, chain switching, and tokens without sell routes.
  • Test against known Swarm-launched token contracts and a wallet known to hold them.
  • Verify the app detects the expected contracts and reports the correct raw and formatted balances.
  • Run the production build, type checks, and all relevant tests.
  • Do not claim success unless the results demonstrate that discovery works.

4. Preserve the Swarm Sweep requirements

  • Display each discovered token's balance, USD value when available, and sell-route status.
  • Keep tokens without sell routes visible but disabled for selling.
  • Preserve sell-all and sell-selected functionality, transaction previews, gas estimation, and accurate transaction outcomes.
  • Preserve the 2% fee on successful sale proceeds to the configured project treasury. Failed sales must not incur the fee.
  • Do not introduce fabricated balances, prices, sell routes, or successful transaction statuses.

5. Deliverables

  • Fix the root cause in the existing codebase.
  • Add regression tests and document the actual test results.
  • Explain the root cause, changed files, supported chains, and any remaining discovery limitations.
  • Publish the updated website using the project's existing deployment process and verify the deployed version, not just the local build.

  2. Build websiteAgent #81256 files changedsent back

Fixed discovery and rebuilt dist/. The old flow depended on SwarmExit’s empty sale registry.

Verified 163 real holdings across 220 contracts. Typecheck, production build, 35 regression tests, 101 interaction checks, and 16 design checks passed.

Selling still requires the owner’s token/route configuration. Publication remains pending; an updated remote deployment was not verified.

Saved five reproducible findings to .imd-findings.json. Implementation files are unchanged.

    1. High — bug: held refunds are falsely reported as returned tokens. Actual contract event order overwrites the held-refund outcome.
    2. High — bug: precise IMD quotes cause horizontal overflow. At 320px, an ordinary 18-decimal quote expands the page to 358px.
    3. Medium — bug: rejected multicalls bypass isolated balance reads. Individual reads succeed, but the app reports discovery failure without attempting them.
    4. Medium — bug: desktop route labels are clipped. The final “IMD” disappears from a supported two-leg route.
    5. Medium — bug: mobile detection hides discovered wallets. An available EIP-6963 provider disappears when window.ethereum is absent.

Each finding includes exact source lines, reproduction inputs, measured evidence and the proposed correction.

Discovery itself works for the supplied holder: 220 contracts checked, 163 positive holdings, with independently matching raw balances and decimals at Ethereum block 26,202,610. Rewinding discovery recovered two subsequent launches. The original cause was using the owner-managed sale registry as the token-discovery universe.

Validation passed: production build, typecheck, 35 regression tests, 101 Chromium interaction assertions, 12 legacy tests, ABI integrity and the WebKit connection/discovery/sale-fixture flow. Sales used fixtures; no mainnet transaction was signed.

    • highbug: held refunds are falsely reported as returned tokensweb/src/lib/sweep.ts:695

Now: The receipt reducer overwrites RefundHeld with the later TokenRefunded event, clears held=true, and tells the user their tokens were refunded while the contract still holds them. The unchanged SwarmExit source calls _refund (emitting RefundHeld when transfer fails) before emitting TokenRefunded.

Change to: Reduce all events for each token together, give RefundHeld precedence over TokenRefunded, and retain the message "Token refused the refund. Claim it below." Add a regression for both events in their actual order.

Why: The brief requires accurate transaction outcomes; a successful transaction containing a failed refund must not imply that the assets reached the wallet.

Width: 390px (also independent of viewport in executeSale).

Use the existing web/test/sales.test.mjs harness with two planned tokens A=0x1111111111111111111111111111111111111111 and B=0x2222222222222222222222222222222222222222, account=0x3333333333333333333333333333333333333333, balance=1234567n and quote=100000n each.

Have both pass simulation, then return a successful receipt from SWARM_EXIT_ADDRESS with logs in order RefundHeld(user,A,1234567), TokenRefunded(user,A,1234567,0x), TokenSold(user,B,1234567,100000).

This is the contract event sequence when A fails and refuses its refund while B sells.

      Call executeSale and inspect result.get(A).

Expected held:true and an instruction to claim.

Actual held is undefined and reason is "Sale failed; tokens refunded.

      Transfer-tax tokens may refund less."

The executed Node assertion equal(result.get(A).held,true) fails (undefined versus true).

TokenList renders that incorrect reason as the outcome.

    • mediumbug: the isolated balance-read fallback never runs for rejected multicallsweb/src/lib/sweep.ts:218

Now: With allowFailure:true, viem resolves a failed aggregate RPC call as one failure result per contract. It does not throw, so the catch block containing isolated readContract calls is bypassed and readable holdings are lost. The existing regression mocks multicall as throwing and therefore misses the real client behavior.

Change to: Retry failed balance/decimal entries with isolated readContract calls at the same block before counting failures; retain the partial/failure state only for reads that still fail. Test through a real viem client/transport with aggregate RPC rejection.

Why: Reliable token discovery should recover when a provider refuses an aggregate but supports the underlying ERC-20 reads, as the implementation explicitly intends.

      Width: 390px.

Run the production export with the existing web/scripts/interact.mjs EIP-6963 and JSON-RPC fixtures.

In ethCall, reject calls to Multicall3 (0xca11bde05977b3631167028862be2a173976ca11) with a JSON-RPC -32000 error "aggregate exceeds RPC gas cap" on both public RPC URLs; leave all individual token calls unchanged.

      Connect Mock Wallet.

Expected four positive holdings after isolated balance reads.

Actual page says "Discovery failed: RPC failure: no token balances could be read.

Your wallet has not been reported empty.

      Retry with Refresh."

Instrumentation records zero erc20.balanceOf calls; a direct ALPHA balanceOf still returns 12500000000000000000000.

Reproduced against the shipped bundle and installed viem 2.57.7 with no page errors.

    • highbug: an ordinary precise IMD quote makes the 320px page scroll horizontallyweb/src/components/TokenList.tsx:214

Now: Exact expected proceeds use .note without the wrapping applied to balances. A normal 18-decimal quote sets a minimum width on the mobile token grid and expands every main section beyond the viewport, cutting off the hero, summary, actions and token data.

Change to: Apply overflow-wrap:anywhere to .tokens .note (including proceeds and outcome amounts), and ensure the mobile grid tracks can shrink with minmax(0,1fr). Preserve the exact amount rather than rounding or clipping it.

Why: The review bar prohibits horizontal scrolling at 320px and critical amounts must remain fully readable.

      Width: 320px, height: 844px, Chromium.

In web/scripts/interact.mjs, change only meta[T.alpha].expected to parseUnits("100.123456789012345678",18); retain the original ALPHA symbol, 12500-token balance and other fixtures.

Serve the production export, connect Mock Wallet, and wait for Discovery complete.

Measured document.documentElement.scrollWidth=358 for innerWidth=320. main is 288px wide but the table and hero end at x=357.921875; the proceeds note has a 177.828125px minimum width.

The screenshot cuts off text and primary controls at the right edge.

Injecting .tokens .note{overflow-wrap:anywhere} restores scrollWidth=320 with the same data.

At 390px the same fixture fits.

    • mediumbug: desktop sale-route labels are clipped at the table edgeweb/src/styles.css:415

Now: Route pills cannot wrap above 639px, while the fixed-layout table clips overflow. The existing supported two-leg route loses its final IMD label at the right edge.

Change to: Allow .tokens .pill to use white-space:normal and overflow-wrap:anywhere at desktop widths as well as mobile widths; let the row grow to fit the route.

Why: The brief requires each token's sell-route status to be visible, and transaction route text must not be clipped.

      Width: 1440px, height: 900px, Chromium.

Run the unmodified web/scripts/interact.mjs production fixture, connect Mock Wallet and inspect BETA before selling.

Its text is "Uniswap V2 to ETH, then IMD".

The pill measures 230.65625px wide inside a 205.125px status cell (with 24px horizontal padding); its right edge is x=1221.03125 while the table clips at x=1184.

The screenshot shows "Uniswap V2 to ETH, then" and hides IMD.

Applying .tokens .pill{white-space:normal;overflow-wrap:anywhere} makes the pill 180.625px wide and 43px high, displaying the complete route.

    • mediumbug: mobile detection hides a discovered EIP-6963 walletweb/src/wallet/ConnectSheet.tsx:202

Now: On a phone user agent without window.ethereum, the sheet removes every injected connector even when wagmi has discovered a named EIP-6963 provider. The available wallet cannot be selected; only external wallet-app links and Coinbase Smart Wallet remain.

Change to: Always list discovered named injected connectors. Use the absence of an available connector, rather than only window.ethereum, to decide when external open-in links are needed. Add a mobile EIP-6963-only connection test.

Why: Wallet connection must reach discovery when the browser already supplies a usable provider; the existing desktop connection path proves this provider can connect.

      Width: 390px, height: 844px, Chromium.

Reuse web/scripts/interact.mjs openPage with its existing Mock Wallet EIP-6963 provider (which does not set window.ethereum), but set the context userAgent to "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 17_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/17.0 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1".

      Open Connect wallet.

Expected a Mock Wallet button capable of connecting the announced provider.

Actual getByRole("button",{name:"Mock Wallet"}).count() is 0, with no page errors.

The dialog lists only Open in MetaMask/Coinbase Wallet/Rabby/Phantom and Coinbase Smart Wallet.

With the same provider and desktop user agent the button exists and discovery succeeds.

Settled findings, each re-run against the rebuilt export

    • Held refunds misreported (high): fixed. The reducer in web/src/lib/sweep.ts now groups the receipt events per token and gives RefundHeld precedence over TokenRefunded. The unit tests for both event orders pass, and the browser run shows BETA as Unsold with "Token refused the refund. Claim it below.", zero wallet balance, the exact held amount and an enabled Claim refund control.
    • 320px horizontal scroll from a precise quote (high): fixed. With expected proceeds of 100.123456789012345678 IMD the page measures scrollWidth 320 in both the quote and the sold-outcome states. All 18 decimals are visible in the screenshot, and the mobile grid uses shrinkable tracks.
    • Isolated balance fallback skipped on rejected multicalls (medium): fixed. With Multicall3 rejected on both RPC URLs through a real viem transport, discovery completes with four holdings and five isolated balanceOf calls. Raw and formatted ALPHA balances are correct.
    • Desktop route pill clipped (medium): fixed. At 1440 the BETA pill wraps to two lines and reads "Uniswap V2 to ETH, then IMD" in full. The geometry assertion confirms the pill ends inside its cell.
    • Mobile sheet hid an EIP-6963 wallet (medium): fixed. With the iPhone user agent and no window.ethereum, the sheet lists Mock Wallet and Coinbase Smart Wallet, connects, and discovers the four holdings.

    • taste@1 probe: 16 of 16 passed. One control is under the 44px comfortable size, which is within the bar.
    • WebKit was not available on this machine, so the fixes are confirmed in Chromium only.
