Carry a sister goal's best changes onto this network's best file, for one entry on Paradigm's Prediction Market board.

The challenge: a Python class quotes limit orders on one simulated binary market, scored by mean edge over 200 runs. Simulator: https://github.com/danrobinson/prediction-market-challenge

Its best entry, 110.21 against first place's 110.69, is the start file, a JSON whose "code" is the strategy: https://api.imdnotdead.fun/artifacts/149883fee797ad95a91e535b7a74453587a3eb19ca87ab95f7d8585db160a8f4

It reads the rival's spread at the first step as self.s, 1 to 4 ticks. Every change acts only when self.s is one spread, and a run has one spread, so changes for different spreads add exactly.

The changes were built on an older file, not the start file: https://api.imdnotdead.fun/artifacts/db22aff7167a4798251ed3d20432509f30e511e4958799aba5b17b41bb39b4b6 (the start file is that one plus eight fixes, written out differently). To see a change's lines, compare its file with the older file as text, then carry the same change by hand. Each file below is the same kind of JSON, at https://api.imdnotdead.fun/artifacts/ plus its hash. Gains are per run of that spread on unseen runs over the older file, so they may shrink here.

Three use one signal: the rival's best bid falls exactly one tick, or its best ask rises exactly one tick. The price crossed that quote 98.4% of the time.

  • cancel: for one callback, cancel all our orders on that side and place none. Spreads 2 and 3 +1.11 each; 1 and 4 never measured. 2d4b30bbc6bffbc500b37ce5e8a1ac821d6513c52a6a2377b4be3c11d97717fb
  • cross: halve the belief's weight outside the crossed tick. Spread 1 +0.85: 6b9ed17bf5dea051170d96ecb2a250d14a21d2ff880ecb8f9017883bd03de44b 2 +0.21: 54b1d980fcc3813edb482bbb2d1317540ca4b498b91f85e5b98279759b065305 3 +0.41: 459d3ec15ee1323593c23f1933500cb42ac662c51e5e2aa89f9b1befee3640d1
  • cut: multiply the belief's weight on the stale side by 0.016. All spreads +0.88 a run, on a still older file: 02547689db99b3c23e7fca6854fd610cf835480ae70fb7250c52cd3159b33be7

The others:

  • postjump, spread 1, +0.50: 6a27972e9638651d891da543295d7374bb0e9ba1cdf1175e380bc264a2cb522f
  • premium, spread 4, +0.34: delete b *= 1.4 and the if above it. f12abab20b33528b93dfdad56de2d7bb6a85beedbc0104cc33657e0b152ffc76
  • deadband, spread 1 +1.41, 3 +0.52, 4 +1.69, noisy, on a still older file: where add_b and add_a test kb < qb * P['keep_lo'] and ka < qa * P['keep_lo'], test against qb and qa.

Nothing is tuned: use each change's own constants. A run's spread is fixed by its seed: sample_config(ChallengeConfig(), ParameterVariance(), seed=N).competitor.spread_ticks, in orderbook_pm_challenge/runner.py. Do not make the strategy recognise particular seeds. The operator enters files by hand: look for no key. 1. x-cancelAgent #1518Spread 3 is kept: it gained +1.0517 in the first half and +0.7247 in the second, for +0.8882 overall. The file is frozen with cancel on spread 3 only. Spread 1’s first 100 full simulation records match the start file exactly; spreads 2 and 4 are next.Mulling…
      1. Spread 3 has reached 200 of 800 pairs. The strategy and constants are unchanged during this test; its two half-run gains will determine whether cancel stays.
      2. Spread-3 testing is halfway through. The final result will include all 800 paired runs, with separate first-half and second-half gains and a paired standard error.
      3. Spread 3 has reached 500 of 800 pairs. Once it finishes, I’ll freeze the selected file and compare full simulation records on the unchanged spreads.
      4. Spread-3 testing has reached 600 of 800 pairs. Its keep/drop decision is still pending.
      5. Spread 3 has reached 700 pairs. The last 100 will complete tuning; the selected file will then stay fixed for the 3,000-seed holdout.
      6. Spread 3 is kept: it gained +1.0517 in the first half and +0.7247 in the second, for +0.8882 overall. The file is frozen with cancel on spread 3 only. Spread 1’s first 100 full simulation records match the start file exactly; spreads 2 and 4 are next.
    2. x-plus-aAgent #446The spread-4 baseline is halfway through. Its cancel test will clear the relevant f4_last observation when withholding a side, so a cancellation cannot become a false flow observation.Pondering…
      1. Cancel is dropped for spread 2: the first half lost **0.0214**, while the second gained **0.5601**. Its overall gain is positive, but it fails the required two-half rule. Spread 3 is next.
      2. The spread-3 reference batch is at 600 of 800 runs. The strategy still contains no accepted changes.
      3. The spread-3 baseline completed successfully. Its cancel candidate is running on the same seeds, with one-callback suppression and the supplied trigger.
      4. Spread-3 cancel has completed 500 of 800 runs. All completed reference and candidate batches have passed their failure checks.
      5. Cancel is kept for spread 3: both halves gained, by **1.0027** and **0.7505** mean edge. Spread 4 is the final cancel test before the cross changes.
      6. The spread-4 baseline is halfway through. Its cancel test will clear the relevant f4_last observation when withholding a side, so a cancellation cannot become a false flow observation.
    3. x-plus-cAgent #462All 3,200 baseline runs are complete with zero failures. The first candidate, deadband on spread 1, is now running.Joining the dots…
      1. Spread 3’s baseline is processing. The final validation will also check that any spread with no retained changes reproduces the start file exactly.
      2. The baseline phase has completed 1,600 runs across spreads 1 and 2. Spread 3 is still running; candidate selection has not started.
      3. Spread 3’s baseline finished with zero failures, bringing the completed total to 2,400 runs. Spread 4 is the last baseline batch before the deadband tests.
      4. Spread 4’s baseline is still running. The paired results are saved after each batch, so later candidate comparisons will reuse the same baseline runs.
      5. The first candidate will test deadband on spread 1 by changing only the two replenishment thresholds. Its result will be measured against the unchanged start file.
      6. All 3,200 baseline runs are complete with zero failures. The first candidate, deadband on spread 1, is now running.
    4. x-plus-bAgent #1268Lost the run to the 10-minute tool timeout; throughput is ~0.23 s/sim wall, so the full plan won't fit the remaining time. I'll halve all counts (400 runs per spread, 1500 holdout seeds) and say so.Thinking…
      1. rate limit cleared
      2. Step 1: base check (timed), in parallel with looking at the runner.
      3. Scorer matches exactly (108.63974289615767, 2m20s). Now a harness and the diffs.
      4. Now build the parametrised candidate file.
      5. Empty-flag file matches start exactly. Running stage 0 (start) and stage 1 (cancel, all spreads) on 3200 seeds.
      6. Lost the run to the 10-minute tool timeout; throughput is ~0.23 s/sim wall, so the full plan won't fit the remaining time. I'll halve all counts (400 runs per spread, 1500 holdout seeds) and say so.
