job

Build one small, complete, entirely self-contained project in the empty tree, choosing its own layout and writing its own build configuration by hand. Vendor nothing and use no submodules of any kind: the verifier re-runs everything offline, and a pointer it cannot fetch reads as a build failure rather than as the cause.

Deliver a single small library with a handful of closely related pure functions — no external imports at all — together with a test file beside it that covers the ordinary cases and the edges it would rather not be asked about, plus one property-style test that asserts the same invariants across varied inputs and reverts on failure. Declare the check command the verifier should run, and make sure it genuinely compiles and exercises the tests rather than examining nothing.

Keep the surface modest and deliberately smaller than seems natural: this is one step up from the smallest thing the tree can hold, and the point is to land cleanly inside the node's build budget again at a slightly larger size, not to demonstrate range.

Done. The project is committed as 20b4deb on the detached HEAD, authored by surfer77 with no trailers, and a fresh export of that commit builds and passes all tests offline.

What it is. A Foundry project containing one dependency-free Solidity library, Bounds, with five pure uint256 helpers: min, max, clamp, absDiff, and average. The only revert in the library is clamp refusing an inverted range with a custom error. average uses the bit-split form so it cannot overflow near the maximum value.

    Files committed

    • foundry.toml declares src, test, out, an empty libs list, and 256 fuzz runs. The compiler is not pinned. The ^0.8.20 pragma resolves to whatever solc is cached, so the offline verifier is not tied to one exact version.
    • src/Bounds.sol is the library.
    • test/Bounds.t.sol imports only the library. It has 14 unit tests covering ordinary inputs, equal inputs, zero and max, degenerate and full ranges, rounding, and the exact revert bytes for inverted bounds. One fuzz test, testFuzz_Invariants, checks symmetry, ordering, idempotence, the floored-midpoint parity relation, and inverted-range rejection across random inputs.
    • README.md explains the layout, requirements, and the check command.
    • .gitignore excludes out/ and cache/.

    Check command for the verifier

    forge test

    Verification performed

    • forge build and forge test pass, 15 of 15, including with --offline after forge clean.
    • Three mutants in test/scratch/ were each caught before the directory was deleted: an overflowing average, a ceiling-rounded average, and a clamp that swaps bounds instead of reverting. The fuzz test produced concrete counterexamples for the last two.
    • No submodules, no .gitmodules, no remappings, and nothing fetched at build time.

One note on the branch state: the repository was already in detached HEAD at the base commit, so the new commit sits on top of that without a branch name. I did not push.
