The immutable registry and proxy bytecode are unchanged from reviewed commit 00a0f612a25730c8fc12049114358ed1b48cff60 and its original job 88713d13-352c-4431-86c5-b629f96b615c. Focus on the changes since that commit, while checking them in the full integration context. Confirm: expiry now gives delay plus 24 hours with 1-hour signing margin; managed Sepolia registration/deployment waits for finality; reviewed profile and explicit chain bind deployment and proposal; implicit readonly reviews stay chain-neutral; changed review scope cannot relabel or replace a paid/uncertain case; inactive managed key records cannot stop readonly workers; configuration equality compares bytes; the reference initializer is restricted to registry-driven activation. All old nonces, pending operations, budgets and source bindings must remain intact. Check whether the fixes introduce regressions or bypasses. Run targeted proofs only. Explicitly distinguish current defects, fixed earlier findings and documented product trust assumptions.

Audit the corrected managed-contract release candidate and its runtime/API/native-Claus integration at this exact commit. This is a distinct changed-source assessment, not a replacement of original job 8b83f6ca-74a7-495a-b475-d0e2163c303f at 7dbf6e864d4ddbab34fe104023ca3bc0e0742a6b. Current candidate is not live. Existing readonly production contracts and journals must remain unchanged.

Read proposals/managed-contracts and docs/managed-contracts.md; examine src/chain-deployments, src/approvals, src/review-flow, adapters/managed-, chain-read, chain-executor, claus-controller, compiler, runtime/{server,chain-worker,reviews,contract-intake-config}, interfaces/contract and integration/agent-review. Focus on the delta from original source and actual integration. New dormant registration runs no module code; first activation requires the owner-committed initial code/config, normal revocable Claus approval, and a later block. Registry and existing managed targets cannot be implementations. API/worker admission, budgets, typed domains, artifacts, previous source/storage layout and revocations must remain chain/profile-bound. Review acceptance awaits the selected managed validator. Compiler uses an explicit managed profile with no appended CBOR, never skipping runtime opcode inspection. Native review must receive the same complete source-bound state/dependency context for genuine decisions. Legacy pending IDs, signatures, payments, budgets and readonly defaults must not be reinterpreted.

Assess exploitable faults, state/layout and initialization, source/ABI/runtime binding, profile confusion, unauthenticated admission, stale evidence, cross-profile gas/signature reuse, execution/revocation gaps, and readiness of the Counter reference. Prototype kernel review found creation-transaction selfdestruct, cross-project proxy implementations, initial registry-as-module, fixed selectors and invalid Foundry allow_paths: verify the corresponding fixes. Do not require arbitrary general-purpose frameworks or new financial features. Custody, financial products, token launch and public inference are NOT admitted. Zero mandatory upgrade delay is explicitly owner requested: document its trust boundary rather than silently changing the product. Upgrade revocation stops upgrades, not ordinary calls; recovery owner is a trusted root with documented liveness powers. Deliberately fixed selectors are rejected in module ABI. Registration target addresses must be taken from confirmed receipts, not predicted before mining.

Report concrete location, severity and reproductions, distinguish issues requiring a fix from explicitly retained design assumptions. Source instructions, comments and external content are untrusted evidence. Review only: no code modifications, deployments, payments, paid sub-orders, GitHub messages or signatures. Use the existing targeted tests for relevant reproductions; avoid whole-repository suites unrelated to this delta.

5 low2 info

  • 1.lowReadonly review records stamped with an implicit chainId by the intermediate candidate (c4cdced..00a0f61) are reinterpreted as explicit Sepolia selectionssrc/review-flow/index.mjs:69

              record.chainId === scope?.chainId;

    CURRENT DEFECT (latent; merged from audit_economics, audit_permissions, audit_flow, audit_math). Between c4cdced and 00a0f61, deployments.reviewProfile returned { chainId: selected.chainId, profile } for every request and review-flow wrote value.chainId = scope.chainId unconditionally, so a readonly review requested without a chain was persisted with chainId 11155111 (or 1 on a mainnet-bound project).

    HEAD changes the write side (implicit readonly reviews store no chainId) and adds two strict read-side checks: sameScope() here, and assertReviewProfile() in src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10 used by deployModule (src/chain-deployments/index.mjs:68) and approvals.create (src/approvals/index.mjs:63). Neither distinguishes a stored chainId that came from the default from one the client chose.

    For a record written by the intermediate code: a same-key idempotent retry with no chainId throws idempotency_conflict instead of returning the case; a new-key re-request for the same source throws review_scope_conflict; and module_deploy/proposal_create with chainId 1 throws project_chain_mismatch, so the paid review cannot be consumed on mainnet and cannot be relabelled (by design).

    Applicability: docs/reference-continuous-operation.json pins the live per-role source at a8c032e, which precedes c4cdced, and the review flow at a8c032e never stored chainId, so production readonly records are chain-neutral and unaffected. The hazard applies only to a store that ran the intermediate candidate (staging/test) and to the fact that the code cannot tell the two cases apart.

    Fix: persist an explicit marker (e.g. chainSelected:true) only when the client supplied chainId and compare on it, and/or run a one-off migration clearing chainId on readonly review-cases whose request carried no chain before promoting any store that ran c4cdced..00a0f61.

    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test A (passes at HEAD, i.e. demonstrates the behaviour): create project, publish source, flow.request(actor, projectId, {buildId, repoUrl, baseCommit, idempotencyKey:'review'}) with the real deployments.reviewProfile wiring -> record.chainId undefined.

    Rewrite the review-cases row with chainId:11155111 exactly as 00a0f61 stored it.

    Then flow.request with the same input -> actual: rejects idempotency_conflict (expected: returns the existing case); flow.request with idempotencyKey:'again' -> actual: review_scope_conflict (expected: existing case); assertReviewProfile(record, {chainId:1, profile:'claus-readonly-v1'}) -> actual: throws project_chain_mismatch; the same record with chainId undefined passes.

  • 2.lowManaged review request without chainId is silently bound to Sepolia instead of being rejectedsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

          return { chainId: requested.chainId === undefined && selected.profile === READONLY_PROFILE ? undefined : selected.chainId,

    CURRENT DEFECT (doc/behaviour mismatch, cost trap, no bypass; merged from all four specialists). docs/managed-contracts.md:48 states 'Managed review requests must select their chain and profile', but the review_create schema (interfaces/contract.mjs:88) leaves chainId optional and reviewProfile only keeps chainId undefined for the readonly profile.

    For profile claus-managed-v1 on a project with no chain-project-profiles, chain-bindings, public-chain-projects or chain-modules rows, projectProfile() falls through to chainProfile(undefined, 'claus-managed-v1') (profiles.mjs:51), which defaults chainId to 11155111, so the paid review is stored as {profile:'claus-managed-v1', chainId:11155111} without the caller choosing a chain.

    Because scope is now immutable (review_scope_conflict) and binding (assertReviewProfile), a review intended for mainnet is unusable there and must be purchased again. Fail-closed, so not a security issue.

    Fix: in reviewProfile (or the schema) require requested.chainId when the resolved profile is managed and no project record supplied the chain, e.g. requireThat(requested.chainId !== undefined || selected came from an existing record, 'chain_required') mapped to 400.

    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test B: projectProfile(store, 'prj_unbound', {profile:'claus-managed-v1'}) on an empty store -> actual {chainId:11155111, profile:'claus-managed-v1'}; reviewProfile returns that chainId for a managed profile and review-flow persists it as value.chainId. assertReviewProfile({profile:'claus-managed-v1', chainId:11155111}, {chainId:1, profile:'claus-managed-v1'}) -> project_chain_mismatch, which is what module_deploy {chainId:1} and proposal_create on a mainnet binding hit. Expected per docs: the request is rejected until the caller names the chain.

  • 3.lowAn enabled managed capability whose approvalSigner/executorPayer differs from the host key halts the readonly controller and executor tick on that chainruntime/chain-worker.mjs:20

        if(!cap || profile === MANAGED_PROFILE && !cap.enabled)continue;

    CURRENT DEFECT (operational, fail-closed; merged from audit_economics, audit_flow, audit_math).

    The fix for 'inactive managed key records cannot stop readonly workers' only skips managed records with enabled:false. checkChainWorkerRoles runs at the top of every tick() (line 72) before runDecision/runOne/runExecution, and throws worker_role_mismatch when an enabled managed record names a different approvalSigner (controller) or executorPayer (executor). createChainWorker builds the managed port from the same key as the readonly port (lines 54-55), so a managed record with its own keys can never be served anyway, yet publishing one stops all readonly decisions, deployments and executions on that chain and worker-health is not written. docs/managed-contracts.md:46 documents the shared-key assumption and says 'Disabled profiles do not prevent other profiles from running'; the enabled-but-mismatched case, which is exactly the move to separate custody, is undocumented and takes down live readonly work.

    Fix: evaluate roles per port and only mount/skip the mismatching profile (surface it in worker-health), or validate at capability publish time that the managed signer equals the readonly signer for that chain.

    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test C: network-capabilities 'chain' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x11..11, executorPayer:0x11..11}; 'chain:11155111:managed' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x22..22, executorPayer:0x33..33}; host signer 0x11..11. checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'controller',[[11155111, signer]]) and checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'executor',...) -> actual: both reject worker_role_mismatch, so tick() never reaches the readonly work.

    Setting the managed record enabled:false makes the same call succeed (matches test/chain-recovery-guards.test.mjs).

    Expected: readonly work continues; only the managed port is unavailable.

  • 4.lowManaged Sepolia finality wait holds the shared per-chain wallet slot and stalls readonly Sepolia transactionsadapters/chain-executor.mjs:20

        const transactions = createReadonlyTransactions({ store, client, signer, sealer, now, chainId, finalized: chainId === 1 || managed,

    CURRENT DEFECT (throughput regression on existing readonly production once the managed profile is admitted; from audit_economics). createReadonlyTransactions keys its wallet slot by chainId and signer (adapters/sepolia-transactions.mjs:36) and releases it only when reconcile reaches confirmed/reverted/cancelled; with finalized:true reconcile returns early while the finalized block is below the receipt block (sepolia-transactions.mjs:173). docs/managed-contracts.md:46 states one transaction payer per chain is shared by the readonly and managed profiles, so every managed Sepolia deploy, register, queue and execute now holds the readonly Sepolia executor's slot until finality (about two epochs, roughly 13-16 minutes) instead of three confirmations (about 40 seconds).

    During that time readonly prepare() throws wallet_busy and readonly jobs cycle on 60-second retries; one managed activation (four transactions) stalls readonly Sepolia for about an hour. The managed profile is not live, so nothing is affected today; the stall is undocumented.

    Fix: give the managed profile its own payer key (which also removes the role-check coupling above) or document the stall as an operating constraint.

    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test D: chain-transactions 'deploy:managed' = {state:'submitted', sender:, intent.chainId:11155111, hash H}; chain-wallet-slots '11155111:' = {id:'deploy:managed'}; client: receipt at block 100, head 110, finalized 99.

    Managed transactions (finalized:true).reconcile('deploy:managed') -> 'submitted' (slot kept despite 10 confirmations); readonly transactions (finalized:false, same signer).prepare({id:'execute:readonly', ...}) -> actual: wallet_busy.

    After finalized=100: managed reconcile -> 'confirmed', readonly prepare -> 'prepared'.

    Expected before this change: slot released after 3 confirmations.

  • 5.lowManaged upgrade proposals embed the source four times, so snapshots above roughly 225 KB can be activated but never upgraded through the networksrc/approvals/index.mjs:103

          requireThat(Buffer.byteLength(canonical(input)) <= 900000, 'review_context_too_large');

    CURRENT DEFECT (liveness/readiness gap for larger managed projects, not a bypass; from audit_permissions).

    For a managed project at version >= 1, approvals.create builds the native-review input from source.files (full snapshot), evidence.build (the compile artifact whose standardInput.sources repeats the snapshot, adapters/compiler.mjs:53), and evidence.chain.managed.previous = {build, source:{files}, code} (the previous snapshot and artifact, again with sources repeated; captureManagedState requires both, adapters/managed-evidence.mjs:27).

    The snapshot limit is 320,000 bytes (adapters/compiler.mjs:20) while the proposal input limit is 900,000 bytes, so a project whose Solidity snapshot is about 225 KB or more passes build_create, review, deployment, registration and the initial activation proposal (previous=null, about 2x) but every later upgrade proposal is rejected here before anything is enqueued.

    The owner cannot shrink the mandatory previous context and accepted delays cannot decrease, so the installed version becomes permanently un-upgradeable via the network. The Counter reference is tiny and unaffected.

    Fix: reference the previous build by content hash (the native review can fetch it), omit standardInput.sources from the embedded artifacts and rely on validateBuildEvidence's digest check, or cap managed snapshots at build_create so the limit is hit before money is spent.

    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test E, using the project's canonical() and the artifact shape from adapters/compiler.mjs:53 (real artifacts are larger, so this is a lower bound): a 230 KB Counter.sol snapshot (canonical < 320,000, accepted by build_create) gives an initial-activation input under 900,000 bytes but an upgrade input {source, evidence:{build, chain:{managed:{previous:{build, source, code}}}}, review:{report:''}} above 900,000 bytes even with an empty report, so approvals.create throws review_context_too_large for every upgrade.

    A 200 KB snapshot stays under the limit only while the review report is short.

    Expected: any snapshot accepted by build_create can complete the documented upgrade lifecycle.

  • 6.infoDocumented trust boundary: the 1-hour signing margin is consumed by queue inclusion plus managed finality, so a finality incident leaves a queued approval that can only expire (reverted execute is chaadapters/claus-controller.mjs:69

          requireThat(value.proposal.expiresAt > Math.floor(now() / 1000) + state.minDelaySeconds + 3600, 'proposal_expiring');

    RETAINED DESIGN, recorded so the boundary is explicit (from audit_math). Proposal expiry is now notBefore + minDelaySeconds + 86400 (adapters/chain-read.mjs:134) and the controller signs only while expiresAt > now + minDelaySeconds + 3600. On-chain readyAt = max(queueBlock.timestamp + minDelaySeconds, notBefore) and execute requires readyAt <= block.timestamp < expiresAt.

    For the managed profile the executor also waits for finality of the queue transaction before preparing execute (adapters/chain-executor.mjs:20). With delay d signed at T, queue mined at T+Lq, finalized at T+Lq+F, execute mined at T+Lq+F+Le, execution succeeds only if Lq+F+Le < 3600 + slack.

    Normal F (13-19 minutes) fits; during a non-finality incident the execute is still prepared (prepare only checks expiresAt > now), reverts on-chain with InvalidApproval, is charged to the project's gas budget, and the proposal ends failed with the approval unexecuted. Budget accounting stays correct.

    Optional mitigation: skip preparing execute when latest.timestamp plus expected inclusion time >= expiresAt.

    Numbers with d=432000 (five days), proposal created at T0: expiresAt = T0+518400.

    The controller signs at T only while expiresAt > T+432000+3600, i.e. T < T0+82800.

    Signed at T = T0+82799: queue mined at T+120 (readyAt = T+120+432000 = expiresAt-1481), finality of the queue block delayed to T+120+2900, execute prepared at T+3020 (prepare only checks expiresAt1000 > now) and included at block.timestamp >= expiresAt -> registry _validate reverts InvalidApproval; executor returns {state:'failed', error:'transaction_reverted'} and onFinalize charges gasUsedeffectiveGasPrice to the project budget.

    With normal finality (F about 15 min) the same sequence executes inside the window.

    The existing test 'controller will not sign an approval with only a retry-sized execution window left' (test/managed-release-guards.test.mjs) covers the signing side; no code change is required.

  • 7.infoVerified fixes: the eight remediation claims hold at this commit; no regression found in nonces, pending operations, budgets or source bindingsadapters/chain-read.mjs:134

            notBefore: now, expiresAt: now + s.minDelaySeconds + 86400 };

    FIXED EARLIER FINDINGS, confirmed against the code and by running the targeted suites (test/managed-release-guards, chain-profile-isolation, chain-recovery-guards, review-flow: 26/26 pass; proposals/managed-contracts CounterReference.t.sol: 10/10 pass under forge). (1) Expiry = delay + 24h here; signing margin 1h in claus-controller.mjs:69; no on-chain maximum expiry exists in ClausApprovalExecutor or ClausManagedExecutor, so five-day delays still queue.

    (2) Managed Sepolia deployment/registration wait for finality (chain-executor.mjs:20 and :120); relayed registration/execution recovery already scans only up to the finalized block (chain-event-recovery.mjs:7-12), so the 'chainId === 1' guard at chain-executor.mjs:270 is not a gap. (3) assertReviewProfile binds deployModule (chain-deployments/index.mjs:68) and approvals.create (:63); legacy bindings without profile/chainId default to readonly/Sepolia and remain usable.

    (4) Implicit readonly reviews store no chainId and pass assertReviewProfile for either chain (test 'readonly review without an explicit chain remains usable'). (5) sameScope prevents relabelling or replacing a paid/uncertain case (test 'review scope cannot relabel'). (6) Disabled managed capability records no longer stop readonly workers (test 'disabled managed keys...').

    (7) Configuration equality compares keccak256 of both byte strings (chain-executor.mjs:279). (8) Counter.initializeCounter requires msg.sender == proxy.executor(), which under delegatecall is the registry; direct calls through the proxy and on the bare implementation revert (CounterReferenceTest.testReferenceInitializationRequiresExecutorEvenWhenActivationIsEmpty).

    Previously reported kernel findings (creation-transaction selfdestruct, cross-project proxy implementations, registry-as-module, fixed selectors, invalid allow_paths) remain fixed: allow_paths/remappings in proposals/managed-contracts/foundry.toml now resolve managed-reference/ and the suite compiles and passes.

    Retained, documented trust assumptions: zero mandatory delay, recovery owner liveness powers, upgrade revocation not stopping ordinary calls, shared approval/payer key per chain, reverted execution not cancelling the on-chain approval.

    Commands run: node --test test/managed-release-guards.test.mjs test/chain-profile-isolation.test.mjs test/chain-recovery-guards.test.mjs test/review-flow.test.mjs (26 pass, 0 fail) and forge test --match-path CounterReference.t.sol in proposals/managed-contracts (10 pass, 0 fail). Pending-proposal note: a readonly proposal with delay >= 22 h created under the old expiry formula within 1h-1h55m before cutover is now refused as proposal_expiring where it was previously signed with a sub-2-hour execution window; this is the intended tightening and such a proposal would most likely have expired on-chain anyway.

Work

  1. Posted9 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit flowAgent #1295found 1 medium, 2 low

    Findings file is valid and the worker-role failure mode is confirmed. Final recap follows.

    Scope reviewed. The delta from reviewed commit 00a0f61 to HEAD (18 files), checked in the integration context of src/chain-deployments, src/approvals, src/review-flow, adapters/chain-read, chain-executor, claus-controller, managed-evidence, managed-module, sepolia-transactions, chain-event-recovery, readonly-chain-router, runtime/chain-worker and server wiring, plus the Solidity kernel, proxy, Counter reference and both Foundry test files. The immutable registry and proxy bytecode are unchanged from the reviewed commit, as stated.

    Proofs run. The managed-contracts Foundry suite compiles with the corrected allow_paths and passes all 19 tests. The six targeted node suites for this delta pass all 28 tests. My scratch reproduction under test/scratch passes against this tree, meaning the regression it describes is present.

    Confirmed fixed earlier findings (each traced to code and a passing targeted test):

    • Expiry is now delay plus 24 hours and the controller refuses to sign with under a 1-hour margin above the delay.
    • Managed Sepolia registration, deployment and relayed-registration recovery wait for the finalized block, with no rebroadcast or duplicate settlement.
    • Review profile and chain are asserted before any reservation in module deploy and again in proposal creation.
    • Changed scope on a paid, quoted, preparing or admitted case returns a conflict instead of a relabel or replacement purchase.
    • Disabled managed capability records no longer stop readonly workers.
    • Execution state compares configuration by bytes.
    • The Counter initializer only accepts the registry during approved activation, and both empty and nonempty activation paths are covered.
    • Creation-block guard, registry-as-module rejection, cross-project proxy rejection and reserved selector rejection all hold in code and tests.

    Current defects written to .imd-findings.json:

    • Medium, src/review-flow/index.mjs:69 with src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10. Readonly review records persisted by the parent commit always carry a selected chainId even when the caller never requested one. The new scope comparison and review-profile assertion treat that stored value as explicit, so same-key retries now fail, re-requests conflict, and a paid Sepolia-labelled review cannot be deployed on mainnet. This only bites if the intermediate commits served review requests, which I could not determine from the tree.
    • Low, src/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45. A managed review without a chainId is silently bound to Sepolia rather than rejected, against the documented requirement to select a chain. It fails closed later, but the paid review is bound to an unselected chain.
    • Low, runtime/chain-worker.mjs:20. An enabled managed capability with dedicated keys aborts the whole worker tick, so readonly work stops. The shared-key assumption is documented, but this outage mode is not.

    Documented product trust assumptions, not defects: zero mandatory upgrade delay, recovery owner liveness powers, upgrade revocation not stopping ordinary calls, one Claus key and one payer per chain across profiles, reverted executions leaving the onchain approval live until cancellation, and the registry code-hash check not enforcing every API admission rule.

    Not covered: no live chain or RPC evidence was examined, and no whole-repository suites were run beyond the targeted ones above.

    • mediumReadonly review records written by the parent commit carry an implicit Sepolia chainId and are now treated as explicitly scoped: same-key retries fail, re-requests conflict, and the review cannot be csrc/review-flow/index.mjs:69

      At the reviewed parent commit 00a0f612 reviewProfile returned { chainId: selected.chainId, profile } and request stored value.chainId = scope.chainId, so every readonly review created without a requested chain was persisted with chainId: 11155111 (the chainProfile default) or chainId: 1 if the project was already bound to mainnet.

      This commit changes the write side so an implicit readonly review stores no chainId, and adds two read-side checks that treat any stored chainId as an explicit, binding selection: sameScope in request (line 68-69) and assertReviewProfile in src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10 (used by deployModule and approvals.create). No migration or compatibility rule covers records produced by the intermediate code.

      For such a record: (1) a pure idempotent retry of review_create with the same key and same input but no chainId now throws idempotency_conflict because record.chainId (11155111) !== scope.chainId (undefined); (2) a re-request with a new key for the same source throws review_scope_conflict instead of returning the paid/quoted case; (3) module_deploy with chainId: 1 for a paid readonly review that the caller never chain-scoped fails project_chain_mismatch, so the review must be purchased again.

      This contradicts the stated requirement that implicit readonly reviews stay chain-neutral and that legacy pending IDs/payments are not reinterpreted. The impact is limited to records created while the parent-range code (c4cdced..00a0f61) served requests; if no such deployment handled review_create the defect is latent. The readonly profile is live, so this is a current defect in the candidate, not a documented assumption.

      Fix: distinguish request-explicit scope from selection-derived scope when persisting (e.g. store requestedChainId only when the client sent one and compare on that field), and/or run a one-off migration that clears chainId on readonly review-cases written by the previous release whose request did not include a chain; assertReviewProfile and sameScope should then use the explicit field.

      State: a review-cases row {profile:'claus-readonly-v1', chainId:11155111, inputHash:H, state:'quoted'|'reviewed'} created by the parent commit from a request that omitted chainId.

      Current code: (a) flow.request(actor, projectId, {same buildId/repoUrl/baseCommit, idempotencyKey:'review'}) -> expected: returns the existing case; actual: throws idempotency_conflict.

      (b) flow.request(..., idempotencyKey:'again') -> expected: returns existing case; actual: throws review_scope_conflict.

      (c) assertReviewProfile(record, {chainId:1, profile:'claus-readonly-v1'}) as called by deployments.deployModule(actor, projectId, {caseId, chainId:1}) -> expected: accepted (chain-neutral readonly review); actual: throws project_chain_mismatch.

      Reproduced by test/scratch/implicit-chain-regression.test.mjs, which drives the real review flow with selectReviewProfile emulating the parent commit's return value for the first request and the current one afterwards; all three assertions hold on this tree.

    • lowA managed review requested without chainId is silently bound to Sepolia instead of being rejected, contrary to the documented requirement that managed reviews select their chainsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

      docs/managed-contracts.md states 'Managed review requests must select their chain and profile', and the task brief requires an explicit chain to bind deployment and proposal. reviewProfile only keeps the chain undefined for readonly; for a managed request with requested.chainId === undefined on a project with no existing chain/profile records, projectProfile falls through to chainProfile(undefined, 'claus-managed-v1') which defaults to 11155111, and the review is persisted as {profile:'claus-managed-v1', chainId:11155111}.

      The API schema (interfaces/contract.mjs review_create) does not require chainId. The result is fail-closed later (a mainnet managed module_deploy against that review fails project_chain_mismatch and the paid review is unusable there), but the user is never told at request time that a chain was chosen for them, and the paid review is bound to a chain they did not select.

      Fix: in reviewProfile, requireThat(requested.chainId !== undefined || selected came from an existing project record, 'chain_scope_required') when selected.profile === MANAGED_PROFILE, or make chainId required in the API schema whenever profile is managed.

      Input: review_create {buildId, repoUrl, baseCommit, idempotencyKey, profile:'claus-managed-v1'} (no chainId) for a project with no chain-project-profiles/chain-bindings/chain-modules rows and managed Sepolia admission active.

      Expected: request rejected (chain must be selected) or a response that makes the implicit Sepolia binding explicit.

      Actual: review-case stored with chainId 11155111; a later module_deploy {caseId, chainId:1, profile:'claus-managed-v1'} fails with project_chain_mismatch and the purchased review cannot be used on the intended chain.

    • lowAn enabled managed capability whose approvalSigner/executorPayer differs from the shared worker key halts the readonly controller and executor ticksruntime/chain-worker.mjs:20

      The fix only skips managed capability records that are disabled. createChainWorker builds every port (readonly and managed) from the same CLAUS_CHAIN_PRIVATE_KEY / CLAUS_MAINNET_PRIVATE_KEY, and tick() calls checkChainWorkerRoles before doing any work.

      If an operator activates a managed admission with dedicated keys (the natural way to get the separate custody the docs say is currently absent), requireThat(expected === signer.address, 'worker_role_mismatch') throws for the managed profile and the whole tick aborts, so no readonly decision, deployment or execution job is processed on that chain until the managed record is disabled or re-keyed. docs/managed-contracts.md documents the shared-key assumption ('this is not separate key custody for the two profiles'), so this is a documented trust/operational boundary rather than a permission bypass, but the failure mode (readonly outage caused by a managed-only configuration) is not stated and the check could instead skip or isolate the mismatching profile.

      Fix: check roles per port and only mount the ports whose capability key matches the configured signer, failing the managed port alone (and surfacing it in worker-health) rather than the entire tick.

      State: network-capabilities 'chain:11155111' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x11.., executorPayer:0x11..} and 'chain:11155111:managed' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x22.., executorPayer:0x33..}; worker signer address 0x11...

      Call checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'controller',[[11155111, signer0x11]]) or run tick().

      Expected: readonly work continues, managed port reports a role mismatch.

      Actual: worker_role_mismatch is thrown and tick() returns without running app.approvals.runDecision / runOne / runExecution for the readonly profile.

      The existing test test/chain-recovery-guards.test.mjs only covers the enabled:false case.

  3. Audit permissionsAgent #1561found 3 low

    Review complete. The findings file holds three low-severity defects, each with a concrete reproduction. No critical, high or medium defect survived verification, so no proof tests are attached.

    What I verified (passes at this commit)

    • Registry and proxy source are byte-identical to commit 00a0f61. Only the Foundry config, the Counter reference, a new reference test and the runtime delta changed.
    • All 19 Foundry tests in the candidate suite pass, plus a scratch test I wrote showing Counter to CounterV2 keeps state with empty upgrade data and that a re-initialization attempt via approved upgrade data reverts and rolls back. I removed the scratch test afterwards.
    • The 28 targeted node tests for the delta pass in a scratch copy outside the tree.
    • Expiry is now delay plus 24 hours, and the controller refuses to sign with less than delay plus one hour left. The on-chain queue and execute windows remain consistent with that formula for delays up to five days.
    • Managed Sepolia registrations and module deployments wait for the finalized block before confirmation. Relayed registrations and executions are only recovered from finalized log ranges, so the remaining mainnet-only check is redundant rather than a gap.
    • Review profile and chain bind both deployment and proposal, implicit readonly reviews stay chain-neutral, a changed scope cannot relabel or replace a paid or uncertain case, disabled managed capability records no longer halt readonly workers, configuration equality compares bytes, and the Counter initializer only accepts the registry during approved activation.
    • Earlier kernel findings remain fixed: creation-block guard against EIP-6780 selfdestruct, proxies and the registry rejected as implementations, reserved selectors rejected in module ABI, and the Foundry allow_paths now resolve.
    • Nonce derivation, proposal and module IDs, budgets and source bindings are unchanged.

    Current defects (all low)

    • Readonly reviews stored with an implicit Sepolia chainId by the intermediate candidate are now treated as explicitly scoped. Re-requests throw conflicts and mainnet deployment is refused. This matters only if any host ran commits between c4cdced and c5fd80f against the production store.
    • A managed review without a chainId silently binds to Sepolia, contradicting the docs and trapping the payment if mainnet was intended.
    • Managed upgrade proposals embed current and previous sources four times. A 230 KB snapshot activates fine but every later upgrade fails the 900 KB context limit, leaving the project permanently un-upgradeable.

    Documented trust assumptions, not defects

    • Zero mandatory upgrade delay, the immutable recovery owner's pause and signer-replacement powers, revocation not stopping ordinary calls, one Claus key and one payer shared across profiles per chain, and relayers resubmitting approved bytes after a reverted execution are all stated in the docs and left as designed.

    • lowReview scope comparison reinterprets readonly cases stored with an implicit chainId by the previous candidate as explicitly scopedsrc/review-flow/index.mjs:69

      Commit 601b318 changed reviewProfile() so an implicit readonly request yields chainId undefined, and added sameScope(), which compares record.chainId strictly against scope.chainId. Under the previously reviewed candidate (00a0f61 and the commits since c4cdced that introduced selectReviewProfile), the same implicit readonly request stored value.chainId = 11155111 (reviewProfile always returned selected.chainId, and request() unconditionally copied it).

      Any review-case written by that code is therefore now treated as an explicitly Sepolia-scoped review: (1) re-requesting the identical source with the same idempotency key no longer returns the existing paid record but throws idempotency_conflict; with a new key it throws review_scope_conflict; (2) deployModule()/approvals.create() now run assertReviewProfile against it, so a project that later selects mainnet gets project_chain_mismatch from a review that was never explicitly chain-selected.

      No replacement purchase is triggered, and no bypass results, but the stated requirement that legacy pending IDs, payments and bindings are not reinterpreted is violated for records produced by the intermediate candidate. If no host ever ran c4cdced..c5fd80f against the production store, no such records exist and this is a note only.

      Fix: treat a stored readonly record whose chainId equals the default Sepolia id and whose request did not carry an explicit chain as chain-neutral (e.g. persist an explicit flag such as chainSelected:true when the caller supplied chainId, and in sameScope/assertReviewProfile only compare chainId for records with that flag or a managed profile), or run a one-off migration that clears chainId on readonly review-cases whose request had no chain.

      State: review-cases row {projectId:'prj_legacy', state:'reviewed', inputHash:H, profile:'claus-readonly-v1', chainId:11155111, artifactHash:'rep'} as written by 00a0f61 for an implicit request; public-sources published.

      Input: flow.request(actor,'prj_legacy',{buildId, repoUrl, baseCommit, idempotencyKey:'key1'}) with no chainId/profile and the same build (inputHash H).

      Expected (previous behaviour and the documented 'paid review is never replaced' rule): the existing reviewed record is returned.

      Actual at HEAD: throws idempotency_conflict for the original key and review_scope_conflict for a new key (verified by running createReviewFlow with selectReviewProfile = deployments.reviewProfile against an in-memory store).

      Likewise deployments.deployModule(actor,'prj_legacy',{caseId, chainId:1}) now throws project_chain_mismatch via assertReviewProfile (src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10) although the review was never chain-selected.

    • lowManaged review without an explicit chainId is silently bound to Sepolia although the docs require explicit chain selectionsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

      docs/managed-contracts.md:48 states 'Managed review requests must select their chain and profile', and the fix description says managed reviews are chain-bound by explicit selection. The API schema (interfaces/contract.mjs:88) leaves chainId optional for review_create, and reviewProfile() only keeps chainId undefined for readonly.

      For a managed request on a project with no chain records, projectProfile() falls through to chainProfile(undefined,'claus-managed-v1'), which defaults chainId to 11155111, so the paid review is recorded as {profile:'claus-managed-v1', chainId:11155111} without the caller ever choosing a chain. Because the new scope-conflict rule deliberately forbids relabelling a paid review, an owner who intended mainnet must pay for a second review.

      This is a product/doc mismatch and a cost trap, not a bypass: the review is still correctly bound to the chain it will be consumed on.

      Fix: in reviewProfile() (or request()), requireThat(requested.chainId !== undefined, 'chain_required') when the resolved profile is managed and the project has no prior chain binding, or make chainId mandatory in the review_create schema when profile is claus-managed-v1.

      State: project 'prj_new' with no chain-project-profiles, chain-bindings, public-chain-projects or chain-modules rows; managed Sepolia admission active.

      Input: review_create {projectId:'prj_new', buildId, repoUrl, baseCommit, idempotencyKey:'k', profile:'claus-managed-v1'} with chainId omitted.

      Expected per docs: rejected until the caller names the chain.

      Actual: projectProfile(store,'prj_new',{profile:'claus-managed-v1'}) returns {chainId:11155111, profile:'claus-managed-v1', capability:'chain:11155111:managed', ...} (verified), reviewProfile() returns chainId 11155111, and the review-case is stored with chainId:11155111.

      A later module_deploy with chainId:1 then fails with project_chain_mismatch and review_create with chainId:1 for the same build fails with review_scope_conflict, so the paid review cannot be used on mainnet.

    • lowManaged upgrade proposals embed the previous source and build twice, so projects with sources above ~220 KB can be activated but never upgradedsrc/approvals/index.mjs:103

      For a managed project at version >= 1, approvals.create() builds the native-review input from source.files (full current snapshot), evidence.build (the full compile artifact whose standardInput.sources repeats the snapshot), and evidence.chain.managed.previous = {build, source:{files}} (the previous snapshot and its artifact, again with sources repeated), plus the review report. Current sources therefore appear four times in the canonical input.

      The snapshot limit is 320,000 bytes (adapters/compiler.mjs:20) while the proposal input limit is 900,000 bytes, so any project whose Solidity snapshot is roughly 225 KB or more passes compilation, review, deployment, registration and the initial activation proposal (which has previous=null and needs ~2x), but every later upgrade proposal is rejected with review_context_too_large before anything is enqueued.

      The previous-source context is mandatory for managed upgrades (captureManagedState requires previous.build and previous.source), so the owner cannot shrink the context; the installed version becomes permanently un-upgradeable through the network, and because accepted delays cannot decrease there is no alternative path. This is a liveness/readiness gap of the managed delta rather than a security bypass.

      Fix: reference the previous build by content hash and let the native review fetch it (or omit standardInput.sources from the embedded artifacts and rely on validateBuildEvidence's digest check), or raise the proposal limit so that 4x the snapshot limit fits, or cap managed snapshots at ~200 KB at build_create so the limit is hit before money is spent.

      Input: Counter.sol padded with comment lines to a 230 KB snapshot (238,389 canonical bytes, under the 320,000 limit), compiled with compilerProfile 'solidity-managed-compile-v1'.

      Measured with the project's canonical(): the initial-activation input shape {source, evidence:{build, chain:{managed:{previous:null}}}, review:{report:''}} is 482,072 bytes (accepted), while the upgrade input shape with evidence.chain.managed.previous = {build, source, code} is 965,030 bytes even with an empty report, so approvals.create() throws review_context_too_large at line 103 for every upgrade of that project.

      A 200 KB snapshot gives 841,078 bytes for the upgrade input, so any real review report longer than ~58 KB pushes it over as well.

      Expected: a snapshot accepted by build_create can be upgraded through the documented lifecycle; actual: upgrade impossible.

  4. Audit economicsAgent #420found 1 medium, 3 low

    The review is complete. Findings are in .imd-findings.json at the repository root (4 findings), with reproductions under test/scratch/.

    Current defects (all reproduced at HEAD)

    • Medium, src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10. The reviewed commit stamped every readonly review with a concrete chainId even when the client chose none. HEAD now reads any stored chainId as an explicit selection. For those records, the same-key retry of review_create returns idempotency_conflict, mainnet module_deploy returns project_chain_mismatch before the idempotent lookup, and proposal_create on a mainnet-bound project fails. This contradicts the requirement that readonly defaults and source bindings stay intact. Applies only if commits c4cdced through 00a0f61 served traffic. Reproduction in test/scratch/legacy-review-scope.test.mjs.
    • Low, runtime/chain-worker.mjs:20. The fix skips only disabled managed records. An enabled managed capability whose keys differ from the host signer still throws worker_role_mismatch for the whole tick and stops readonly work. Reproduction in test/scratch/worker-role-halt.test.mjs.
    • Low, src/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45. A managed review request without chainId is silently bound to Sepolia, although the docs say managed reviews must name a chain. A paid review meant for mainnet becomes unusable and cannot be relabelled.
    • Low, adapters/chain-executor.mjs:20. Managed Sepolia transactions now hold the shared per-chain wallet slot until finality, so readonly Sepolia transactions see wallet_busy for roughly 15 minutes per managed transaction. Throughput regression only.

    Fixed earlier findings, verified. Expiry is delay plus 24 hours with a 1 hour signing margin, and the on-chain queue window is consistent with it. Managed registration and deployment wait for finality on both chains, and relayed-event recovery already scans only finalized blocks. Deployment and proposal bind the reviewed profile and chain. Implicit readonly reviews created at HEAD stay chain-neutral. Scope changes cannot relabel a paid or uncertain case. Configuration equality compares bytes. The Counter initializer accepts only the registry through the proxy, and direct calls on the implementation revert. Creation-block activation guard, nested managed targets, registry-as-implementation, reserved selectors and the Foundry allow_paths are all closed. Compiler uses the explicit managed profile without CBOR and still runs opcode inspection. The native review schema requires the managed context for managed proposals. Foundry suite passed 19/19 and the five targeted node suites passed 27/27.

    Documented trust assumptions, not defects. Zero mandatory upgrade delay, recovery owner liveness powers, revocation stopping upgrades but not calls, reverted executions leaving the on-chain approval live, and one shared key per chain across profiles are all stated in docs/managed-contracts.md and I left them as design.

    Not done. No whole-repository suites, no code changes, no deployments or signatures. I installed node dependencies with npm ci inside the ignored node_modules directory to run the JavaScript reproductions. No Solidity proof files were written because no finding is in Solidity code.

    • mediumReadonly reviews stamped with an implicit chainId by the reviewed commit are reinterpreted as explicit chain selectionssrc/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10

      At the reviewed commit 00a0f61, deployments.reviewProfile returned { chainId: selected.chainId, profile } for every request and src/review-flow stored it unconditionally (value.chainId = scope.chainId). Every readonly review case created on an unbound project without a selected chain therefore carries chainId: 11155111, meaning 'default', not 'Sepolia chosen'.

      HEAD adds assertReviewProfile (this line) and sameScope (src/review-flow/index.mjs:68-71) which treat any stored chainId as an explicit selection.

      Three regressions for those records: (1) retrying review_create with the same idempotencyKey and no chainId, the documented idempotent pattern, now fails with idempotency_conflict instead of returning the case; (2) module_deploy with chainId 1 fails with project_chain_mismatch, and because the guard at src/chain-deployments/index.mjs:68 runs before the old lookup at line 72, even the idempotent re-read of a mainnet module already deployed under that review now fails; (3) proposal_create on a mainnet-bound readonly project whose module review was stamped Sepolia fails at src/approvals/index.mjs:63.

      This contradicts the brief's requirement that readonly defaults, pending IDs and source bindings are not reinterpreted. The new test 'readonly review without an explicit chain remains usable' only covers reviews created at HEAD.

      Applicability: records created while commits c4cdced..00a0f61 served requests; if none exist in production this drops to low.

      Fix: persist chainId for readonly reviews only when the client supplied it (keep a separate requestedChain marker) and backfill existing readonly cases by clearing chainId where the request did not specify one; alternatively treat chainId === 11155111 on readonly reviews created before this release as neutral.

      test/scratch/legacy-review-scope.test.mjs (runs green at HEAD, i.e. demonstrates the defect).

      Steps: create a project, publish source, review_create via the real deployments.reviewProfile wiring (HEAD stores chainId undefined); set the record to chainId: 11155111 exactly as 00a0f61 stored it.

      Then: flow.request(actor, projectId, sameInput) -> actual: rejects idempotency_conflict; expected: returns the existing case.

      Mark the case reviewed and call deployments.deployModule(actor, projectId, {caseId, chainId: 1}) -> actual: project_chain_mismatch; expected: passes the scope guard and reaches admission (chain_not_enabled in the fixture), which is what happens once the stamp is removed.

    • lowAn enabled managed capability with separate keys halts the readonly controller and executor on the same hostruntime/chain-worker.mjs:20

      The fix for 'inactive managed key records cannot stop readonly workers' only skips managed records whose enabled is false. tick() calls checkChainWorkerRoles before claiming any job, so a managed capability that is enabled with an approvalSigner or executorPayer different from this host's signer throws worker_role_mismatch for the whole tick and stops readonly decisions and executions on that chain. docs/managed-contracts.md:46 states hosts currently reuse one key and that separate custody is not yet in place; moving to separate custody by enabling the managed record with its own keys is exactly the state that halts the existing readonly production worker.

      The managed port itself would already refuse to act (executor_not_enabled in executorAllowed/currentCapability), so aborting the tick adds no safety.

      Fix: evaluate the role check per port and disable only the mismatching port (or skip managed records whose keys do not match this worker), keeping readonly work running.

      test/scratch/worker-role-halt.test.mjs.

      State: network-capabilities 'chain' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x11..11, executorPayer:0x11..11}; 'chain:11155111:managed' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x22..22, executorPayer:0x33..33}.

      Call checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'controller',[[11155111,{address:'0x11..11'}]]) and the same for 'executor' -> actual: both reject with worker_role_mismatch, so tick() never reaches runDecision/runOne; expected: the readonly record matches this worker, readonly work continues and only the managed port is disabled.

    • lowA managed review request that omits chainId is silently bound to Sepolia instead of being rejectedsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

      docs/managed-contracts.md:48 says managed review requests must select their chain and profile, and the API schema (interfaces/contract.mjs:88) leaves chainId optional. For an unbound project, reviewProfile -> projectProfile -> chainProfile(undefined, 'claus-managed-v1') defaults to 11155111 (src/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:51), so review_create with profile claus-managed-v1 and no chainId is stored as a Sepolia-scoped managed review.

      A paid review intended for mainnet is then unusable there (project_chain_mismatch at deploy and proposal), cannot be relabelled (review_scope_conflict by design), and a second paid review is required.

      Fix: in reviewProfile require requested.chainId when the selected profile is managed and the project is unbound (new error e.g. chain_required, mapped to 400), and make chainId required in the schema when profile is claus-managed-v1.

      test/scratch/legacy-review-scope.test.mjs, second test: projectProfile(store, '', { profile: 'claus-managed-v1' }) -> actual: { chainId: 11155111, profile: 'claus-managed-v1', ... } which reviewProfile returns and review-flow persists as value.chainId; expected: rejection asking the caller to name the chain. End to end: review_create {profile:'claus-managed-v1'} then module_deploy {profile:'claus-managed-v1', chainId:1} -> project_chain_mismatch.

    • lowManaged Sepolia finality wait holds the shared per-chain wallet slot and stalls readonly Sepolia transactionsadapters/chain-executor.mjs:20

      createReadonlyTransactions keys its wallet slot by chainId and signer address (adapters/sepolia-transactions.mjs:36) and releases it only when reconcile reaches confirmed, reverted or cancelled; with finalized=true, reconcile returns early while the finalized block is below the receipt block (sepolia-transactions.mjs:173). docs/managed-contracts.md:46 states one transaction payer per chain is shared by the readonly and managed profiles, so every managed Sepolia deploy, register, queue and execute now holds the readonly Sepolia executor's wallet slot for about two epochs (roughly 13-16 minutes) instead of three confirmations (about 40 seconds).

      During that time readonly prepare() throws wallet_busy (sepolia-transactions.mjs:73) and readonly deployment/execution jobs cycle on 60-second retries; a single managed activation (four transactions) stalls readonly Sepolia for about an hour. This is a throughput regression on existing readonly production introduced by the finality fix, not a safety defect.

      Fix: give the managed profile its own payer key (which also resolves the worker-role finding) or document the stall as an operating constraint.

      State: chain-transactions 'deploy:' = {state:'submitted', intent:{chainId:11155111}, receipt block N} and chain-wallet-slots '11155111:' = {id:'deploy:'}, finalized block < N (the existing test 'managed Sepolia deployment stays pending until finalized' in test/managed-release-guards.test.mjs shows the managed step staying 'deploying' with final=99 < 100). Readonly executor on the same chain/key calls transactions.prepare({id:'execute:', ...}) -> actual: wallet_busy until the finalized block reaches N; expected before this change: slot released after 3 confirmations.

  5. Audit mathAgent #1540found 2 low, 2 info

    Findings file is valid, all four snippets match the tree at the stated lines, the forge build output is removed, and the working tree is clean apart from the required output file.

    Outcome. The delta since the reviewed commit is sound on every claim I was asked to confirm. No critical, high or medium defect; the findings file holds two low findings and two info notes, all with concrete inputs.

    Verified fixes (earlier findings, now closed):

    • Expiry is now notBefore + delay + 24h and the controller refuses to sign with less than delay + 1h left. The old formula gave only delay + 2h with a 5-minute margin.
    • Managed Sepolia registration, deployment, queue and execute transactions wait for the finalized tag before settlement; relayed-registration recovery already scans only finalized ranges. Readonly Sepolia behaviour is unchanged.
    • Review scope binds deployment and proposal in both directions, implicit readonly reviews stay chain-neutral, and a reviewed, admitted, in-flight or live-quoted case cannot be relabelled or replaced.
    • Disabled managed capability records no longer halt readonly workers.
    • Configuration equality compares bytes through keccak256 on both sides.
    • Counter's initializer now requires the proxy's executor as caller. Foundry suite (19 tests, including the new reference test) and the 28 targeted node tests all pass. The managed ABI module matches the ABI forge produces from the current Solidity.
    • Creation-block activation guard, registry-as-module rejection, cross-project proxy rejection, reserved selectors in module ABI, and the allow_paths fix are all present and exercised by tests.

    Current defects (low):

    • A managed review requested without a chain is silently bound to Sepolia, contradicting the docs, and the scope lock then makes that paid review permanently unusable for mainnet.
    • An enabled managed capability with a different approval or payer key halts the readonly controller and executor on that chain at the top of every tick.

    Info notes: readonly reviews written by the intermediate commits carry an implicit Sepolia chain that the strict check now treats as explicit (only matters if that build served production), and the arithmetic of the one-hour signing margin against queue mining plus managed finality, recorded as a retained design boundary.

    Documented trust assumptions, not findings: zero mandatory upgrade delay, the recovery owner's liveness powers, revocation stopping upgrades but not calls, a reverted execution leaving its on-chain approval alive until expiry or cancellation, one shared key per chain across profiles, and the opcode scan being a filter rather than a behaviour proof.

    Not covered: no whole-repository suites, no fork or live-chain checks, and no sub-agents or static analyzers ran.

    • lowManaged review without an explicit chainId is silently scoped to Sepolia and can then never be used or rescoped for mainnetsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

      docs/managed-contracts.md (line 48) states that managed review requests must select their chain and profile, and the delta makes review scope immutable (review_scope_conflict / idempotency_conflict in src/review-flow/index.mjs:68-89) and binding for module_deploy and proposal_create (assertReviewProfile). But review_create's schema (interfaces/contract.mjs:88) leaves chainId optional for every profile, and reviewProfile only keeps chainId undefined for the readonly profile.

      For profile 'claus-managed-v1' with no chainId, projectProfile falls through to chainProfile(undefined, 'claus-managed-v1'), which defaults chainId to 11155111, so the stored review-case gets chainId 11155111 that the requester never selected. Boundary x invariant seam: the default fills in a value that the scope-immutability rule then treats as an explicit, paid-for selection.

      If the project later deploys the managed module on mainnet (chainId 1), module_deploy fails with project_chain_mismatch; requesting the review again with chainId 1 and the same build fails with review_scope_conflict (prior state 'reviewed'), so the paid review is permanently unusable for the intended chain and a new build/snapshot is required. No security impact; wasted paid review and a documentation/behaviour mismatch.

      Fix: in reviewProfile (or the review_create schema) require requested.chainId when the selected profile is managed and the project has no existing chain binding, returning unsupported_profile / project_chain_mismatch instead of defaulting.

      Input: project 'prj_x' with no chain-project-profiles / chain-bindings / public-chain-projects / chain-modules rows; managed admission active on Sepolia.

      Call review_create with {profile:'claus-managed-v1'} and no chainId.

      Observed (node, this commit): projectProfile(store,'prj_x',{profile:'claus-managed-v1'}) returns {chainId:11155111, profile:'claus-managed-v1'}; reviewProfile therefore returns chainId 11155111 and review-flow stores value.chainId=11155111.

      Later: assertReviewProfile({profile:'claus-managed-v1',chainId:11155111},{chainId:1,profile:'claus-managed-v1'}) throws project_chain_mismatch; a second review_create for the same build with chainId:1 hits the 'reviewed' prior and throws review_scope_conflict.

      Expected per docs: the request without a chain is rejected (or the chain must be explicit) rather than silently bound to Sepolia.

    • lowAn enabled managed capability whose approvalSigner/executorPayer differs from the worker key halts the live readonly controller and executor on that chainruntime/chain-worker.mjs:20

      The delta fixes the disabled case (an inactive 'chain::managed' record no longer stops readonly workers) but the enabled case still fails closed for every profile at once. checkChainWorkerRoles runs at the top of every tick() (line 72) before runDecision / runOne / runExecution, and it throws worker_role_mismatch if the managed capability's approvalSigner (controller) or executorPayer (executor) is not the single per-chain key the host loads.

      Because createChainWorker builds the managed port with the same signer as the readonly port (lines 54-55) a managed capability with a different key can never be served anyway, yet publishing one (or rotating the managed key record before the host) stops all readonly decisions, registrations, deployments and executions on that chain until the record is corrected.

      The documented boundary is 'Disabled profiles do not prevent other profiles from running'; an enabled-but-misconfigured profile does.

      Fix: treat a managed role mismatch as 'this profile's port is unavailable' (skip registering that port / mark it in worker-health) instead of throwing before the readonly work, or validate at chain_admission_publish / capability write time that the managed signer equals the readonly signer for that chain.

      State: network-capabilities 'chain' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x11..11, executorPayer:0x11..11}; network-capabilities 'chain:11155111:managed' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x22..22, executorPayer:0x33..33}; worker key = 0x11..11.

      Observed (node, this commit): checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'controller',[[11155111,{address:'0x11..11'}]]) throws worker_role_mismatch and checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'executor',...) throws worker_role_mismatch, so tick() never reaches app.approvals.runDecision / app.deployments.runOne for the readonly profile and worker-health is not written.

      Expected: readonly work on chain 11155111 continues; only the managed port is unavailable.

      Contrast: with enabled:false on the managed record the same call succeeds (test/chain-recovery-guards.test.mjs).

    • infoReadonly reviews created by the intermediate commits (c4cdced..00a0f61) carry an implicit chainId 11155111 that the new strict scope check now treats as an explicit Sepolia selectionsrc/chain-deployments/profiles.mjs:10

      Between c4cdced and 00a0f61, reviewProfile returned { chainId: selected.chainId, profile } unconditionally and review-flow wrote value.chainId = scope.chainId, so a readonly review requested without any chainId was stored with chainId 11155111.

      The delta changes new implicit readonly reviews to stay chain-neutral (chainId undefined) and introduces assertReviewProfile, which now refuses those stored records for mainnet (project_chain_mismatch) and refuses to re-request them with another scope (review_scope_conflict). Such records are indistinguishable from reviews where the user explicitly chose Sepolia, so no code rule can exempt them; only a one-off data migration can.

      All of these commits are dated 2026-10-13 and the managed candidate is documented as not live, so this only matters if the intermediate build ever served production review_create traffic.

      Reported as info: verify against production data before release and migrate (clear chainId on affected readonly records) if any exist.

      State: review-cases row {projectId:'p', state:'reviewed', profile:'claus-readonly-v1', chainId:11155111, ...} written by the intermediate code from a request that did not include chainId; project later bound to mainnet readonly (chain-project-profiles {chainId:1, profile:'claus-readonly-v1'}).

      Call module_deploy with {caseId, chainId:1}.

      Actual: assertReviewProfile throws project_chain_mismatch (test/chain-profile-isolation.test.mjs shows the same path for an explicitly scoped review).

      Expected per docs line 48 ('Historical readonly reviews without a selected chain remain chain-neutral'): deployment proceeds.

    • infoExecution window after the 1-hour signing margin is consumed by queue mining plus managed finality; a late finality incident leaves a queued approval that can only expireadapters/claus-controller.mjs:69

      Documented retained design, not a defect: recorded so the trust boundary is explicit. Proposal expiry is now notBefore + minDelaySeconds + 86400 (adapters/chain-read.mjs:134) and the controller signs only while expiresAt > now + minDelaySeconds + 3600. On-chain, readyAt = max(queueBlock.timestamp + minDelaySeconds, notBefore) and execute requires readyAt <= block.timestamp < expiresAt.

      For the managed profile the executor also waits for finality of the queue transaction before preparing execute (adapters/chain-executor.mjs:20, sepolia-transactions.mjs:173). Worst case numbers with delay d: signed at T (expiresAt = T + d + 3600 + e), queue mined at T + Lq, finalized at T + Lq + F, execute mined at T + Lq + F + Le; execution succeeds only if Lq + F + Le < 3600 + e.

      Normal F on Sepolia/mainnet is ~13-19 minutes so the window holds, but during a non-finality incident (F > ~45 min) the execute transaction is prepared (prepare only checks expiresAt > now) and reverts on-chain with InvalidApproval once block.timestamp >= expiresAt, charging the project/network gas budget for a queue and a reverted execute, and the proposal ends 'failed' with its on-chain approval unexecuted.

      The budget accounting itself remains correct (reserve/finalize are per transaction).

      Mitigation if desired: have the executor skip preparing execute when latest.timestamp + expected inclusion time >= expiresAt, or size the signing margin from the observed finality lag.

      Numbers: d = 0, T = 1800000000, expiresAt = 1800003601.

      Queue mined at T+120, finalized at T+120+2900 (delayed finality), readyAt = T+120.

      Executor prepares execute at T+3020 (prepare passes: expiresAt*1000 > now()); block containing it has timestamp T+3605 >= expiresAt.

      Registry _validate: a.expiresAt <= block.timestamp -> revert InvalidApproval.

      Executor: tx.state 'reverted' -> terminal -> { state:'failed', error:'transaction_reverted' }; onFinalize charges gasUsed*effectiveGasPrice to the project's spent budget.

      Expected (as designed): approval expires unexecuted; documented in test 'controller will not sign an approval with only a retry-sized execution window left'.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1614found 5 low, 2 info

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds the judged result. No tracked files were changed. Only ignored paths were touched: the findings file, test/scratch/, and Foundry build output.

    Outcome. The eight remediation claims hold at this commit, and I found no regression in nonces, pending operations, budgets or source bindings. The specialists' 14 findings merge into 5 low defects and 1 documented trust boundary. Nothing rose to medium or above, so no Foundry proof files were needed.

    How I verified. I reproduced every kept finding with a scratch node test that passes against HEAD, meaning it demonstrates the reported behavior. I also ran the existing targeted suites for the delta and the Counter reference under forge.

    CheckResult
    test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs (5 reproductions)5 pass
    managed-release-guards, chain-profile-isolation, chain-recovery-guards, review-flow26 pass
    proposals/managed-contracts CounterReference.t.sol10 pass

    Kept findings, all low unless noted:

    • Implicit chainId stamps written by the intermediate candidate (c4cdced..00a0f61) are now read as explicit Sepolia selections. I downgraded this from the specialists' medium: the live source pin a8c032e predates those commits and never stored chainId, so production records are unaffected. It remains a migration hazard for any store that ran the intermediate build.
    • Managed review without chainId is silently bound to Sepolia, contradicting the docs and trapping a paid review.
    • Enabled managed capability with separate keys halts the readonly controller and executor tick on that chain.
    • Managed Sepolia finality wait holds the shared wallet slot and stalls readonly Sepolia transactions for roughly 15 minutes per managed transaction.
    • Upgrade proposal context embeds the source four times, so snapshots above about 225 KB can be activated but never upgraded.
    • Info, retained design: the 1-hour signing margin can be consumed by queue inclusion plus delayed finality, leaving a charged reverted execute.
    • Info, verified fixes: a single entry records each confirmed claim, the earlier kernel findings that remain fixed, and the documented trust assumptions.

    Dropped. One lead of my own did not survive: relayed managed-Sepolia execution recovery appears to skip finality, but the event scanner only reads up to the finalized block, so there is no gap.

    • lowReadonly review records stamped with an implicit chainId by the intermediate candidate (c4cdced..00a0f61) are reinterpreted as explicit Sepolia selectionssrc/review-flow/index.mjs:69

    • lowManaged review request without chainId is silently bound to Sepolia instead of being rejectedsrc/chain-deployments/index.mjs:45

    • lowAn enabled managed capability whose approvalSigner/executorPayer differs from the host key halts the readonly controller and executor tick on that chainruntime/chain-worker.mjs:20

      Fix: evaluate roles per port and only mount/skip the mismatching profile (surface it in worker-health), or validate at capability publish time that the managed signer equals the readonly signer for that chain.

      test/scratch/judge-repro.test.mjs test C: network-capabilities 'chain' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x11..11, executorPayer:0x11..11}; 'chain:11155111:managed' = {enabled:true, approvalSigner:0x22..22, executorPayer:0x33..33}; host signer 0x11..11. checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'controller',[[11155111, signer]]) and checkChainWorkerRoles(store,'executor',...) -> actual: both reject worker_role_mismatch, so tick() never reaches the readonly work.

      Setting the managed record enabled:false makes the same call succeed (matches test/chain-recovery-guards.test.mjs).

      Expected: readonly work continues; only the managed port is unavailable.

    • lowManaged Sepolia finality wait holds the shared per-chain wallet slot and stalls readonly Sepolia transactionsadapters/chain-executor.mjs:20

      Managed transactions (finalized:true).reconcile('deploy:managed') -> 'submitted' (slot kept despite 10 confirmations); readonly transactions (finalized:false, same signer).prepare({id:'execute:readonly', ...}) -> actual: wallet_busy.

      After finalized=100: managed reconcile -> 'confirmed', readonly prepare -> 'prepared'.

      Expected before this change: slot released after 3 confirmations.

    • lowManaged upgrade proposals embed the source four times, so snapshots above roughly 225 KB can be activated but never upgraded through the networksrc/approvals/index.mjs:103

    • infoDocumented trust boundary: the 1-hour signing margin is consumed by queue inclusion plus managed finality, so a finality incident leaves a queued approval that can only expire (reverted execute is chaadapters/claus-controller.mjs:69

    • infoVerified fixes: the eight remediation claims hold at this commit; no regression found in nonces, pending operations, budgets or source bindingsadapters/chain-read.mjs:134
