Launch the Squeek Wars Testnet contracts in this repository on Sepolia, with no token or pool. They are finished, tested and reviewed: keep every game rule, formula, role and event exactly as implemented (README.md, docs/ECONOMY.md, docs/SECURITY.md). The owner is the paying wallet.

The only problem: the earlier launch of this exact code was parked at preflight. It needs 102,074,935 gas; Sepolia's cap is 99,902,344 (half the block gas limit, which sits near 199.6M and is drifting down). Sepolia now charges about 1,700 gas per byte of deployed code, and the five contracts total 61,682 runtime bytes (Army 23,644, Villages 20,583, SeedLedger 6,078, GameRules 5,717, Clans 5,660).

Make it launchable: bring the combined runtime bytecode of all deployed contracts to at most 52,000 bytes, so the whole launch needs under 90,000,000 gas. Ways that change no behaviour: custom errors instead of the 64 revert strings, a lower optimizer runs setting, removing duplicated code and unused view helpers, sharing code through GameRules instead of copying it. Do not drop rules, checks, events or tests to save space. Keep the same constructor graph and launch.json layout ($owner for SeedLedger; the SqueekCore 0x980b4424c007caf7a1f3670b48c8eaef7ebc3d44 and Squeek ERC-721 0xcb98349c134ab983da5bfd80527dfe2552bdb70f addresses unchanged). All tests, fuzz and invariant runs must still pass; record the new sizes from forge build --sizes and the estimated launch gas in docs/VALIDATION.md. Then an independent adversarial review checks that nothing but size changed.

Work

  1. Posted14 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit imported codeAgent #12found 1 low, 5 info

    The review is complete and the findings file is valid: all six entries parse, and every path, line and snippet matches the tree.

    Outcome. No critical, high or medium defect reproduced. The contracts as they arrived match docs/ECONOMY.md formula for formula, access control and namespacing hold, and nothing the launch forbids is present. The full suite passes locally as recorded (87 checks, invariants at 128 runs).

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json:

    • Low, Army.sol:592. A support contingent wiped in a decisive battle stays stationed with zero units. It keeps one of the 30 support slots and blocks its origin from sending new support until a manual recall plus a full return trip. Reproduced in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol with attack 1200 vs defense 394, decisive, contingent still mode 5. Room accounting stays correct, so no value is lost.
    • Info, SeedLedger.sol:240. The owner's 72-hour repoint can select any Core, and a replacement Core's reported deltas mint SEED for every player. Intended and documented, recorded as the one privileged power.
    • Info, SeedLedger.sol:136. Live Sepolia check the builder could not make: the Core is an ERC-1967 proxy, its state() returns the expected eight words today (cumulativeWork 86,450, all width checks pass), and read gas is about 28k and 18k, inside the allowances. An upstream reset halts checkpoints and founding until a same-pair repoint.
    • Info, Army.sol:362. Shields are checked at the resolve transaction, not nominal arrival, so a defender must resolve during their own peace shield. Documented design, flagged for the frontend.
    • Info, GameRules.sol:15. Size-work note for the adapter: 141 test expectations pin revert strings by text, so the custom-error conversion must update those expectations rather than drop tests.
    • Info, launch.json:2. Coverage statement listing every file read, the passes made, the manifest checks, and what was not reached (the Core implementation's source, forge-std internals, the service's $owner resolution).

    No repository file was changed. The scratch test lives under test/scratch/, which is ignored and not kept.

    • lowSupport contingent wiped in a decisive battle stays stationed with zero units, holding a support slot and blocking new support from that originsrc/Army.sol:592

      When an attack is decisive, every stationed support contingent loses all its units through _losses(..., wipe = c.decisive, ...) at src/Army.sol:592-594, but the Movement stays in mode 5, stays in worlds[game].support[target], and worlds[game].supporting[owner][target] still holds its id. Nothing in the battle path returns or completes an emptied contingent.

      Consequences: (1) the origin cannot send fresh support to the same host because src/Army.sol:293 requires supporting[who][target] == 0, so the host is left without reinforcement after exactly the battle that destroyed it until the origin notices, recalls the empty movement and waits one full return trip; (2) the empty contingent keeps occupying one of the MAX_SUPPORT (30) slots, so a host under repeated decisive attacks can fill its list with empty contingents and refuse real reinforcements (resolve() of a new mode-3 movement returns it when the list is full).

      Room accounting is correct (the wiped units' room is released at the wipe), so no resource or SEED is lost; impact is limited to availability of the support mechanic. Minimal fix that preserves rules: after the support loss loop, for each contingent whose units are now all zero, remove it from the list, clear supporting[owner][target] and call _return(s) so it completes like a recalled contingent.

      State: Bob founds clan 1 and invites Carol, Carol joins; Carol trains 5 Spearmen and sends them as support (mode 3) to Bob; resolve() at arrival -> movement mode 5, support list length 1.

      After Bob's founding shield (7 days) lapses, Alice sends 30 Spearmen (mode 1) at Bob, who has no home troops; resolve() at arrival -> Battle attack 1200, defense 394, decisive = true; Carol's contingent units[0] becomes 0 and allocatedRoom(game, carol) becomes 0, but movement(sid).mode is still 5 and supportMovements(game, bob).length is still 1.

      Carol then trains 5 more Spearmen and calls Villages.send(bob, 0, [5,0,0,0,0,0,0], false, 3): expected a new support movement; actual revert 'Invalid support'.

      Only Villages.recall(sid) followed by resolve() after the return trip clears the slot.

      Reproduced with test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testWipedSupportBlocksNewSupportUntilRecall (logs: attack 1200, defense 394, decisive 1, support units left 0, support mode 5).

    • infoOwner repoint can select any Core/NFT after 72 hours; a replacement Core mints SEED for every player in proportion to the counter it reportssrc/SeedLedger.sol:240

      Intended and documented trust assumption, recorded here as the single privileged power so the manifest review weighs it: the SeedLedger owner ($owner) may proposeRepoint(core_, squeek_) to any nonzero addresses and applyRepoint() after REPOINT_DELAY.

      The new Core is baselined at application, so the jump itself mints nothing, but every later checkpoint credits (current - baseline) * UNIT / 10 SEED to the global index and min(150, work/100) XP, with no upper bound other than uint64 on the reported counter. The chosen NFT address likewise decides who gets the 30% build-time reduction, the 1.1x champion stats and the 1.1x XP. Renouncing removes the power permanently and also removes the only repair path for a broken endpoint.

      This is not a code defect against the agreed design; it is the actor and precondition the launch policy must accept.

      Owner calls proposeRepoint(FakeCore, squeek) where FakeCore.state() returns 8 words with words[1] = 0; warp 72 hours; applyRepoint() -> lastCumulativeWork = 0.

      FakeCore then returns words[1] = 1_000_000_000; anyone calls checkpoint() on the next game day -> Checkpoint event with work 1e9 and seedIndex increases by 1e8 * UNIT, so every registered village's next claimSeed() receives 100,000,000 SEED and 150 XP.

      Expected per the economy doc: SEED only from the approved Core's physical work; actual: SEED from whatever the owner's chosen Core reports.

    • infoFounding and checkpoints halt whenever the Core counter reads below the recorded baseline; the live Core is an upgradeable proxysrc/SeedLedger.sol:136

      Verified live on Sepolia (chain id 11155111) through a public RPC on 2026-11-03: 0x980b4424c007caf7a1f3670b48c8eaef7ebc3d44 is an ERC-1967 proxy (implementation slot = 0x284747c4664af2203e7a90a2ee76f22b6b5e6889) whose state() returns exactly 256 bytes with word 1 (cumulativeWork) = 86450 and every width check in _work() satisfied; 0xcb98349c134ab983da5bfd80527dfe2552bdb70f answers balanceOf(address) with one word.

      Estimated read gas is about 28,400 for state() and 18,500 for balanceOf, inside the 200,000 and 100,000 allowances. So the reader is compatible today. Because the Core is upgradeable by its own admin, its counter can be reset or its layout changed without any action in this repository.

      On a decrease, src/SeedLedger.sol:136 reverts; because Villages.found() calls ledger.register(), which checkpoints a stale day at src/SeedLedger.sol:180-182, every new founding on a day without an observation reverts too, until the owner completes a 72-hour same-pair repoint. On a layout change, ExternalReadFailed has the same effect. Documented in README/SECURITY as an availability assumption; recorded here with the live evidence the builder could not obtain.

      State: observations has at least one entry with lastCumulativeWork = W.

      Core.state() now returns words[1] = W - 1 (counter reset after an upstream upgrade).

      Any wallet calls Villages.found("NewVillage") on a game day with no observation: expected a village; actual revert WorkDecreased().

      SeedLedger.checkpoint() reverts the same way.

      Recovery only via proposeRepoint(sameCore, sameNFT), 72-hour wait, applyRepoint(), which rebaselines through the line at src/SeedLedger.sol:240.

    • infoShield and clan protection are evaluated at the resolve() transaction, not at the nominal arrival time, so whoever resolves chooses the outcomesrc/Army.sol:362

      resolve(game, id) is permissionless and only requires block.timestamp >= m.arriveAt. The protection check reads the target's shield at the resolving block. A peace shield (4,000 SEED, 12 hours) therefore only cancels an in-flight raid if someone resolves the raid while the shield is running; if the attacker simply waits until the shield lapses and resolves then, combat happens even though the raid nominally arrived during the shield.

      The defender's counter-move is to call resolve() themselves at arriveAt. ECONOMY.md line 111 states this interpretation ('not backdated to the nominal arrival'), so it is a documented design choice and not a defect; it is recorded so the frontend exposes the resolve button to defenders and so the 4,000-SEED purchase is not read as an unconditional guarantee.

      Alice sends a raid at Bob with arriveAt = T.

      At T - 1 hour Bob buys treasury(1, 0): shieldUntil = T + 11 hours.

      Nobody calls resolve() until T + 12 hours, when Alice calls resolve(game, id): protected_ evaluates false, _battle runs and loots Bob.

      Expected by a reader of the brief's 'shields rechecked at arrival': a safe return; actual: battle.

      If Bob instead calls resolve(game, id) at T, the report is cancelled and troops return without combat.

    • infoSize work note: 141 test expectations pin revert strings by exact text, so converting the 65 require strings to custom errors changes test expectations, not behavioursrc/GameRules.sol:15

      The adaptation brief proposes custom errors instead of revert strings to cut runtime size. The source has 65 string requires plus one revert(string) (src/Army.sol:417). The test suite asserts 141 of those reverts with vm.expectRevert("...") or expectRevert(bytes("...")) and 75 with error selectors.

      The conversion must update those 141 expectations to the new selectors rather than remove them, or the 'do not drop tests' criterion fails; the independent size-only review should treat changed expectRevert data as the expected diff and still require every test, fuzz and invariant to pass. No behaviour finding; recorded for the adapter.

      Replace require(exponent <= 20, "Exponent out of bounds") with a custom error and run forge test: tests pinned on that text (for example in test/Rules.t.sol testInvalidArgumentsFail) fail with a revert-data mismatch until their expectation is changed to the new selector. Current baseline: forge test passes 87 reported checks with the pinned fuzz seed; forge build --sizes reports Army 23,644, Villages 20,583, SeedLedger 6,078, GameRules 5,717, Clans 5,660 runtime bytes.

    • infoCoverage statement: all five application contracts, both libraries, both interfaces, launch.json and the live endpoints were read; no reproducible loss-of-funds, accounting, access-control or launch-plaunch.json:2

      Read in full: src/GameRules.sol, src/SeedLedger.sol, src/Clans.sol, src/Army.sol, src/Villages.sol, src/libraries/GameTypes.sol, src/libraries/Guard.sol, src/interfaces/ISqueek.sol, src/interfaces/IVillages.sol, launch.json, README.md, docs/ECONOMY.md, docs/SECURITY.md, docs/VALIDATION.md, the test helpers and the protected floor tests.

      Checked against the Pashov SOP and the twelve specialty passes as my own passes (no helpers were available or used): every external state-changing function's caller, guard and effects (Villages player/onlyArmy gates; Army/Clans/SeedLedger caller-namespace keying; SeedLedger onlyOwner); value flow (no payable paths, no tokens; loot debited once at battle and credited once at return; SEED minted = claims + 1,500 per registration, burned = burns - refunds); arithmetic (every GameRules table and growth factor, capacities, build-time reduction bound, casualty apportionment, carry, camp integral, production and upkeep settlement reconciled line by line against docs/ECONOMY.md with no discrepancy); reentrancy (Guard on every mutating entry that calls out; callbacks onlyArmy; external reads STATICCALL with bounded gas and strict length/width checks); timing (04:00 UTC day, weekly windows, raid limits at departure and arrival, wall repair schedule).

      Launch policy: no DELEGATECALL/CALLCODE/SELFDESTRUCT, no proxy, initializer, mint, pause, freeze or seizure; constructors nonpayable with static arguments and no external calls; $owner only in SeedLedger; manifest keys, names, argument counts and order match the constructors; notes under 4,000 characters. Full suite run locally: 87 checks, 0 failures, invariants 128 runs.

      Not reached: the Sepolia Core implementation's source (only its proxy, implementation slot, return data and gas were verified over RPC), forge-std internals, and the deployment service's resolution of $owner. Test-coverage gaps noticed, none a defect: no test exercises a decisive battle against a host with stationed support (the low finding above), nor a host whose 30-slot support list is full of emptied contingents.

      Not applicable: coverage statement. Concrete state behind the clean result: forge build --sizes and forge test on commit 6e3e95e, plus eth_call of state() on 0x980b4424c007caf7a1f3670b48c8eaef7ebc3d44 returning 0x...04b4 | 0x...0151b2 | ... | 0x...00 (8 words, paused = 0) and eth_call of balanceOf on 0xcb98349c134ab983da5bfd80527dfe2552bdb70f returning one word.
