Produce one trade decision for a player in Paper Clash, a game where players win map tiles with leveraged trades on PaperTrade. The player has chosen to let you make every trading decision. The goal: take the unclaimed tile I6 (Meadow). Any net gain takes it. If it closes below that the player keeps the PnL but not the tile, so aim to clear the line, and make the player as much as you reasonably can.

Fixed constraints

  • Market: "BTC" or "ETH" perpetual (BTC, ETH). Pick the one with the better setup right now.

  • Direction: exactly one of "long" or "short".

  • Margin: $10 (the player chose it; you don't).

  • Leverage: an integer from 100 to 1000 inclusive (the tile's minimum, and PaperTrade's $1,000-$10M position size).

  • Take-profit: the price move in your favor, in basis points of price from the actual entry (1 bp = 0.01%), not return on margin. It must clear the line: 100x → bust 95 bp, take-profit ≥ 0.8 bp

     550x → bust 13.2 bp, take-profit ≥ 0.5 bp

    1000x → bust 5 bp, take-profit ≥ 0.4 bp

  • Stop-loss: a price move against the position in bp, smaller than the bust distance, or null to hold to liquidation (liquidation is then the stop).

  • No time limit: the trade stays open until the take-profit, the stop-loss (or liquidation) or the player closes it, however long that takes. There is no funding, so holding costs nothing.

  • The trade opens a few minutes after you answer (it is queued behind your report), so base the exits on moves from the actual entry, not on your quoted mid.

Papertrade execution

Entry and exit fill at the Hyperliquid BBO mid ((best bid + best ask) / 2): no spread, slippage, funding or fee on notional.

Liquidation: the position is liquidated when the mid moves against it by about 10000 / leverage − 5 bp, and the whole margin is lost.

Winning closes are haircut (losses are not): a 0.2 bp deadband comes off the move, the gain is scaled by 0.90 / (1 + 1/(move × 15000) + 100000/(1e6 × move × 814.598)) (move as a fraction after the deadband; BTC parameters, ETH is similar), then a 2% win fee. The keep is ~49% at 3 bp, ~61% at 5 bp, ~72% at 10 bp, ~80% at 20 bp, ~85% at 50 bp: tiny take-profits are heavily taxed.

How to decide

The decision is yours. Pull the market data below, and look up anything else that helps (news, scheduled macro events, liquidation levels, other exchanges' flow). Be decisive: always return a trade. Express doubt through confidence, leverage and the exits, not by refusing. Higher leverage multiplies gains but shrinks the survivable adverse move; a stop-loss saves part of the margin but can stop out a trade that would have recovered.

  2. Context: {"type":"metaAndAssetCtxs"} → [meta, ctxs]; ctxs[index of the coin in meta.universe] has markPx, oraclePx, premium, funding (hourly), openInterest, dayNtlVlm, prevDayPx.

Useful metrics, in bp of price so they compare with the bust distance and exits: how often recent 1m windows moved the bust distance against a position before the take-profit in its favor; per-candle adverse excursion; realized volatility over 15/30/60 min and whether it is expanding; distance from VWAP and 1m/5m EMAs; momentum agreement across 1m/5m/15m; trade flow and book imbalance near the mid; funding and premium; open interest vs price; the 24 h range; scheduled events in the next hour.

Reasoning

Facts (Hyperliquid API, 15:17 UTC): BTC rose 55 bp in the last hour from a 79,680 low and sits 7.5 bp above its 1m EMA20, 35 bp above its 5m EMA20 and 39 bp above the 1h VWAP, with the top-10 book levels 42.1 BTC bid vs 10.1 BTC ask (+0.61 imbalance); ETH showed a similar bounce but a flat book and higher 1m volatility (9.1 vs 7.8 bp/bar). Inference: the short-term up-momentum and bid support favour a BTC long, but 1m realized volatility is about 8 bp/bar and the 24 h tape was mixed, so I use the minimum 100x for the widest bust (95 bp) and a modest 10 bp take-profit. In a conservative replay of the last 24 h of 1m candles (adverse move counted first within each candle), a 10 bp gain was reached before a 95 bp drop from 83% of entry points, versus 67% for a 20 bp target. A 10 bp take-profit keeps about 72% after the haircut, for roughly +7.2% on margin.

Risks

The main risk is that the one-hour bounce fails and BTC falls back toward the 79,350-79,700 lows, about 95 bp below entry, which would liquidate the $10 margin because there is no stop. Uncertainty: the trade opens minutes after this snapshot, the order book can change in seconds, the backtest covers only one day, and I did not check news or scheduled macro events, so this is a probability call and not a forecast.

I picked a long BTC trade at 100x leverage, with a 10 bp take-profit and no stop-loss. That gives a 95 bp bust distance, and the player makes about +7.2% on the $10 margin if the take-profit hits. Confidence is 0.72. The decision is saved as a single JSON object in artifacts/report.md, and the JSON parses with the correct 95 bp bust distance.

Evidence (Hyperliquid public API, fetched 2026-10-26 15:17 UTC):

    • Momentum: BTC rose 55 bp in the last hour from a 79,680 low. It is trading 39 bp above the 1-hour VWAP and above its 1m and 5m EMAs.
    • Order book: buyers outweigh sellers near the mid, with 42.1 BTC bid against 10.1 BTC offered across the top 10 levels.
    • Why not ETH: it bounced similarly, but its book is balanced and its 1-minute volatility is higher (9.1 vs 7.8 bp per bar).

Why these settings: BTC moves about 8 bp per minute, so I used the minimum 100x leverage to get the widest survivable move. I replayed the last 24 hours of 1-minute BTC candles, counting the adverse move first within each candle so the result leans conservative. A 10 bp gain came before a 95 bp drop from 83% of entry points. A 20 bp target only managed 67%. Since any net gain takes the tile, I favoured the higher hit rate over the bigger payout. After the haircut on winning closes, 10 bp keeps about 72%.

Main risk: if the bounce fails and BTC falls back toward the 79,350–79,700 lows, about 95 bp below entry, the position is liquidated and the whole $10 is lost, because there is no stop-loss.

    What this doesn't cover:

    • I did not check news or the macro calendar for the next hour.
    • The replay covers only one day of data.
    • The trade opens a few minutes after this snapshot, so the entry price will differ.

I also added a short README.md describing the question, method and limits. It is left uncommitted. Other untracked files are present at the repository root (shell dotfiles, .claude/, .mcp.json and similar). I didn't create or touch them.
