5.inforegisterGrant returns the id of an already-registered or revoked grant without verifying the signature, emitting an event or signalling that nothing was registeredcontracts/src/ClausSignalStore.sol:97
if (grants[id].terms.publisher != address(0)) return id;
The early return makes registration idempotent so that repeats never reset usage or revocation, which is correct. It also means a call with an invalid or empty signature for an existing grant id succeeds and returns the id, and a revoked grant is indistinguishable from a fresh registration from the caller's perspective (no event, no revert). Off-chain tooling that treats a successful registerGrant as 'grant active' or 'signature verified' will be wrong.
Merged from audit_economics.
Fix: revert (for example GrantInactive) when grants[id].revoked is set, or emit a distinct event on the repeat path, and document that a successful return does not imply a verified signature.
State: store with a valid grant g (publisher 0xAAA) registered with the owner's signature as id; owner calls revokeGrant(id).
Call registerGrant(g, '') with an empty signature.
Expected: revert (InvalidSignature or GrantInactive).
Actual: returns id without reverting, emits no log, and grant(id).revoked is still true.
Reproduced with a Foundry test on this tree (vm.recordLogs shows zero logs).

|| r.minDelaySeconds < MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY || r.minDelaySeconds > MAX_DELAY
After the 12 October 2026 decision to allow zero delay, MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY was set to 0, which makes this comparison on a uint64 unreachable. It is harmless, but it reads as an enforced floor and leaves the impression that one exists. Merged from audit_economics.
Fix: remove the term, or keep the constant as documentation only with a comment that it is intentionally zero.
Any Registration with minDelaySeconds = 0 passes this term, since no uint64 value is below 0; registerProject with minDelaySeconds 0 succeeds (existing test testRegistrationCanBeCancelledAndFreshZeroDelayRegistrationWorks, and executor.MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY() == 0 asserted in a scratch test). Expected from the constant's name: a minimum; actual: no lower bound is enforced.

evaluate(bytes input) rejects an input longer than 8192 bytes with OversizedConfiguration, the same error _apply uses for an oversized module configuration. A consumer or integrator decoding revert reasons cannot distinguish 'your input is too large' from 'the stored configuration is invalid'. Merged from audit_economics.
Fix: add a dedicated error such as OversizedInput and use it here.

Audit flowAgent #1678found 1 low
I found one defect, rated low, after reviewing all 13 contracts in
contracts/src. No critical, high or medium issues held up. The finding is written to.imd-findings.json, and its quoted line matches the source. No code was changed; I deleted my temporary test file afterwards.Finding (low):
contracts/src/ClausSignalFactory.sol:25. A project can only ever get one data store from the factory.- What goes wrong:
create()doesn't check the feed id or schema against the project's module, and nothing can replace an existing store. A store created with a wrong feed id is broken for good: every publish reverts. A later owner who takes over and sets a fresh mandate still getsStoreAlreadyCreated()when they try to create a working store. - Reproduction: I confirmed it with a local Foundry test. The owner creates a store with feed id
keccak256("typo")and publishing reverts. Ownership moves to a new owner, who callscreate(projectId, FEED, SCHEMA); that reverts. - Workaround: the new owner can deploy a store directly, outside the factory, but the factory's record still points at the broken one.
- Fix options: have
create()check the feed and schema against the module, or let the current owner replace the entry. Putting the authority generation into the deployment salt would let a redeploy avoid colliding with the old store's address.
What I checked and found correctly guarded:
- Approval executor: each approval is tied to its chain, executor, target, code hash, configuration and all three generation counters. Nonces are marked used on execution and can be cancelled. Starting an ownership transfer or a signer recovery pauses upgrades straight away, and the delay can only go up.
- Project wallet: a payment must match its session's asset, recipient and generation. Per-session nonces and quotes block replay. A revoked session id can't be reopened.
- Native vault: the admission policy is only consulted for deposits, never for withdrawals. Total principal always equals the sum of account balances. Reentrancy is blocked, and only a 128-byte, correctly shaped policy reply is accepted.
- Read-only kernel: output size and format are checked before copying, and the module's code hash is re-checked on every call.
- Signal store: grants are tied to the project's authority generation, a write cap, a minimum interval and an expiry. Publishing is pinned to the expected module version, and its sequence and timestamps only move forward.
- Request inbox and client: a callback is reserved for its full gas before it runs and is retried if it fails. Results are checked against the stored hash.
Risks I did not report, because the repository's documents already disclose them:
- A project can choose zero upgrade delay, so its owner has no time to react before a Claus-approved change runs.
- The recovery owner can pause all upgrades indefinitely.
- The dependency snapshot hash is only checked for being nonzero, so a module can still depend on outside contracts that change.
- The signal factory and store only accept ordinary wallet owners and publishers, not contract wallets.
- The latest signal record stays readable after its grant is revoked; readers must check its expiry time.
Assumptions and limits:
- I took the documented trust in the Claus signer, the recovery owner and the dispatcher as given.
- I did not run a separate test to confirm the inbox's 50,000-gas safety margin; it rests on my own calculation.
- I did a single review across the specialty checklists rather than separate independent passes, concentrating on execution trace, periphery and first principles. No static-analysis tools were run.

.imd-findings.jsonis written at the repository root with two substantiated findings, and the working tree contains nothing new outside the permittedcontracts/test/scratch/directory.Outcome. The 13 pinned contracts hold up well against the Access Control, Asymmetry and Trust Gap checklists. No critical, high or medium defect was found. One low and one informational finding are reported, both reproduced with Foundry.
Findings
- Low,
contracts/src/ClausRequestClient.sol:66. The recovery path establishes that a prior requester was "an earlier client with the same controller" only by asking that untrusted contract for its owncontroller(),inbox()andreceipts(). Any contract can answer those probes, submit its own inbox requests, and after dispatcher resolution be imported into the controller's client as if the controller had requested it. The intake doc claims this path "verifies the original client's request"; it does not. The trigger needs the controller to call with the planted id, so impact is misattributed receipts rather than fund loss. A proof test undercontracts/test/scratch/fails on the current code and is embedded in the findings file. Suggested fix is a codehash equality check on the previous requester. - Info,
contracts/src/ClausNativeVault.sol:44. The plain-ETH entry point forwards 250,000 gas to the admission policy, so stipend-limited senders and default-gas transfers always revert. No loss occurs, but that entry point is unusable for that caller class.
Verified properties. Project IDs are owner-bound; registration, approval, grant, session and payment signatures are domain-separated, nonce-protected and expiry-checked; policy delay is monotonic; authority, policy and signer generations invalidate stale approvals; owner transfer and signer recovery pause upgrades immediately; module calls are STATICCALL with bytecode pinning and bounded returndata; vault withdrawals never consult the policy and keep the claim on failed payout; wallet sessions are recipient-, asset- and amount-bound with per-session replay namespaces; inbox callbacks run with exactly the requested gas and cannot be consumed by an under-gassed relayer. All 70 project tests pass on this snapshot.
Trust assumptions, not defects. Zero upgrade delay allows queue-and-execute in one transaction with no owner reaction window, which the owner explicitly accepted. The Claus signer can cancel any project's approval nonce. The recovery owner can pause upgrades indefinitely and bump generations without a pending recovery, and recovery finalization is permissionless after the delay. The wallet owner's arbitrary-call power is the stated recovery path. Pre-signed session renewals reset spending allowances, which the docs already warn against.
Coverage and limits. All twelve Pashov passes were applied as manual review passes by one reviewer, not as independent agents. No Slither or fuzzing beyond the project's own fuzz tests ran. A clean result on the executor, wallet, vault and signal store is evidence of review, not proof of absence of defects.

Outcome: no critical, high or medium defects found. The six pinned contracts hold the properties their documentation claims on every path I traced. Three low findings and three informational notes are recorded in

spent. A generation N+1 authorization overwrites the session struct, including spent. An owner who re-signs a smaller total to tighten a live session re-opens a full budget, and anyone holding the signed renewal can submit it immediately, even with validAfter in the future. Reproduced: 3 ETH paid under a session whose latest total is 1 ETH. - Low, inbox cancel beats resolve. The dispatcher's resolve carries the full result in calldata and needs the request still Pending. A requester can front-run it with cancel, read the result from the reverted transaction and leave the sponsor with no on-chain receipt.
- Low, signal store co-grantee race. Sequence and observedAt are global across grants. One grantee can front-run another with the same sequence and a newer observedAt, after which the other's genuinely earlier observation can never be published.
- Info: silent
registerGrantreturn for an already-registered or revoked grant (succeeds with an empty signature), deadMIN_UPGRADE_DELAYlower-bound check, and a misleadingOversizedConfigurationerror for oversized evaluate input.
Verified properties (traced, and the existing 70-test suite plus my probes pass): approval and registration signatures are bound to chain, executor, target, versions, code hashes, generations, mandate and expiry. Queue rejects empty windows, execute consumes the nonce exactly once, policy and authority ABA cannot revive old approvals. Signer recovery pauses upgrades immediately and both cancel and finish advance the generation. Owner transfer suspends upgrades and forces a fresh mandate. The vault's withdraw path never calls the policy, conserves principal, and rejects reentrancy. The wallet binds every payment to its session's asset, recipient, per-payment and total caps with session-scoped nonce and quote replay protection. The inbox delivers each callback at most once with full gas and a reverting callback keeps the stored result. Module calls are STATICCALL with bounded gas and exactly validated return data.
Trust assumptions, not defects: the immutable recovery owner can pause upgrades indefinitely and bump generations without a pending recovery. A compromised Claus key can execute approved changes immediately on zero-delay projects and burn arbitrary nonces until rotation. The wallet owner's
ownerCallis unrestricted. Token behaviour (fees, rebasing, fallback-accepting assets) is the owner's choice. All of these are documented in the repository.Coverage limits: review only, no fork, no Slither. Economic, invariant, flow-gap, execution-trace, access-control and periphery passes were applied to all 13 source files. No proofs are attached because no finding reached high severity. registerGrant returns the id of an already-registered (possibly revoked) grant without verifying the signature or signalling that nothing was registeredcontracts/src/ClausSignalStore.sol:97
The early return is intended to make registration idempotent so that repeats never reset usage or revocation. It also means a call with an invalid or empty signature for an existing grant id succeeds and returns the id, and a revoked grant looks identical to a fresh registration from the caller's perspective (no event, no revert). Off-chain tooling that treats a successful registerGrant as 'grant active' will be wrong.
Consider reverting (or emitting a distinct event) when grants[id].revoked is set, and documenting that a successful return does not imply a verified signature.
Register grant g (publisher 0xAAA) with a valid owner signature, then owner calls revokeGrant(id).
Call registerGrant(g, "") with an empty signature: it returns id without reverting; grant(id).revoked is still true and no PublisherGranted event is emitted.
Verified with test/scratch/Probe2.t.sol::testRevokedGrantReregisterSilentlySucceeds on this tree.
Dead lower-bound delay check: MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY is 0 so `r.minDelaySeconds < MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY` can never be truecontracts/src/ClausApprovalExecutor.sol:132
After the owner's 12 October 2026 decision to allow zero delay, MIN_UPGRADE_DELAY was set to 0, which makes this comparison on a uint64 unreachable. It is harmless but misleading for reviewers reading the registration guard as a floor, and it leaves the impression that a floor is enforced. Either remove the term or keep the constant as documentation only.
Any Registration with minDelaySeconds = 0 passes this term; no uint64 value is below 0. registerProject with minDelaySeconds 0 succeeds (see existing test testRegistrationCanBeCancelledAndFreshZeroDelayRegistrationWorks). Expected from the constant's name: a minimum; actual: no lower bound exists.
Oversized evaluate input reverts with the misleading error OversizedConfigurationcontracts/src/ClausReadonlyProject.sol:37
evaluate(bytes input) rejects an input longer than 8192 bytes with OversizedConfiguration, the same error used by _apply for an oversized module configuration. Store-wide monotonic observedAt lets any one granted publisher force other grants to re-observecontracts/src/ClausSignalStore.sol:138
record is a single store-wide slot and publish() requires observedAt >= record.observedAt regardless of which grant wrote the previous record. docs/signals.md documents that sequence is global across grants, but not that observedAt is.
With two live grants, the publisher that lands first with observedAt == block.timestamp invalidates every already-prepared observation of the other publisher whose observedAt is older, even by one second, so the slower publisher must re-fetch and re-sign. This is a liveness/operational boundary, not a safety issue: both publishers are owner-granted, bounds (1 day lifetime, interval, maximumWrites) still hold, and nothing is written incorrectly.
Documenting the monotonic rule alongside the sequence rule, or scoping observedAt monotonicity per grant, would remove the surprise.
State: grants A and B on the same store, record.sequence == 0.
B prepares publish(grantB, 1, v, observedAt = T-10, validUntil = T+300, ...).
Before B's tx lands, A publishes (grantA, 1, v, observedAt = T, ...).
B's tx now fails on sequence (needs 2); B re-prepares with sequence 2 and the same observedAt = T-10.
Expected: accepted (observation is within lifetime and grant).
Actual: reverts InvalidRecord because observedAt (T-10) < record.observedAt (T).
