Extend the existing Squeek Puzzle game with reliable saved progress and resume for the current puzzle. This is an independently developed game now being extended through IMD; describe authorship accurately.

Existing product: https://squeek-puzzle.vercel.app/

Reuse the imported source repository. The frontend is under web/, built with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vite and viem. Preserve the existing dark/gold hamster visual design, 6x6 Sokoban board with three nuts and three nests, Chinese/English language switch, wallet connect/disconnect, onchain score submission, leaderboard and mobile direction pad. Keep the game simple.

Use the EXISTING Sepolia deployment (chain ID 11155111):

  • SqueekPuzzle: 0x49D0227b7E6d94A3c2C321B1c5770Ab39149C391
  • SqueekCore: 0x74665dAecA35A2303e767E76a2FF1FB6F93e119f
  • Puzzle deployment block: 12025550
  • Explorer: https://sepolia.etherscan.io/ The chain-derived puzzle is the source of truth. Read board() using the existing ABI in web/src/lib/abi.ts. Keep uint64 and wider values as bigint. Keep the existing cadence of 48 certified SqueekCore rounds per puzzle (nominally eight hours). Settlement may be delayed; do not replace the certified frontier with a wall-clock timer.

Implement saved progress in the existing web/src/App.tsx game state flow, with a small reusable helper/hook in web/src/:

  1. Save each valid move and undo/reset immediately to browser storage. Scope saved progress by chain ID, puzzle contract address, level index and seed. Do not store wallet credentials or private keys.
  2. After fetching the current onchain board, restore only a matching saved puzzle. Rebuild the state by replaying every saved direction through the existing step() function in web/src/lib/game.ts; never trust saved player positions, nut positions, scores or a stored "solved" flag.
  3. Reject malformed JSON, invalid direction values, incompatible schemas, illegal moves and saved histories beyond the existing onchain MAX_MOVES limit of 200. Discard the invalid save and start from the fetched board with a concise translated message. Do not allow a forged save to bypass contract validation.
  4. A new level or changed seed must not reuse the previous level's moves. Do not lose valid progress merely because the ten-second poll returns a new object with the same level index and seed. Switching languages or disconnecting the wallet must preserve the current puzzle progress.
  5. Reset must replace or clear the saved progress so a refresh does not resurrect the old path. Undo must persist the shortened path. A restored completed puzzle may show the existing submit action, but never automatically request a wallet signature or broadcast a transaction.
  6. If localStorage is blocked or full, keep gameplay usable in memory and show a small translated notice that progress cannot be saved. Avoid repeated warning spam on each move.
  7. Add concise Chinese and English messages to web/src/lib/i18n.tsx and keep the existing language and wallet-disconnect persistence behavior.
  8. Cover valid resume, undo/reset, expired puzzle, changed seed, corrupted/tampered save, blocked storage and language/wallet changes with meaningful automated tests. Run npm ci and npm run build in web/, and verify the main flow in a browser at desktop and 390px mobile widths. Document commands and results in web/README.md. Add necessary Chinese comments to new/modified core logic.

Leave contracts/ and the current deployed addresses unchanged. Do not add local-chain mode, create tokens, request secrets, send payments or deploy a new contract. Use existing dependencies when possible; any necessary new dependency must have an exact version and a committed lockfile. Deliver working frontend source, tests, documentation and a runnable static build suitable for Vercel. A separate IMD preview URL is fine; do not replace the current Vercel production site during this job.

Recorded two medium findings in .imd-findings.json:

    • Overlapping polls can erase unsaved progress.
    • Delayed settlement causes valid leaderboard scores to disappear.

No critical/high findings. All 33 save tests passed against source and bundled code. Build and browser verification were blocked by dependency/network failures. Application files remain unchanged.

    • mediumOverlapping board polls can roll back the puzzle and erase in-memory progressweb/src/hooks/usePuzzle.ts:67

The ten-second interval starts load() even while an earlier board() request is pending; cancelled only guards effect cleanup, not older requests within the same effect. An older response can therefore replace a newer level. useSavedPuzzle treats each resulting identity change as a fresh restore. When browser storage is blocked or full, this permanently loses moves made on the newer current puzzle even without a reload.

The same behavior is present in dist/assets/index-CT7HPZLO.js (the vv polling function). Guard responses by request generation or serialize polls before updating level and its associated scores.

Run the actual usePuzzle and useSavedPuzzle hooks with controlled RPC promises and storage that throws SecurityError.

Initialize level 100 (certifiedRound 4847, startRound 4800, endRound 4848, seed 0x followed by ab repeated 32 times).

Use a 6x6 board with outer-border walls plus an interior wall at cell 28, player 7, boxes at 8/14/20 and targets at 9/15/21.

Hold the first ten-second board response with that level-100 snapshot.

Let the next poll complete first with level 101 (certifiedRound/startRound 4848, endRound 4896, seed 0x followed by cd repeated 32 times, same board geometry), then make direction 1: the displayed level is 101 and moves are [1].

Resolve the held level-100 response, then complete another poll with level 101.

      Actual observed sequence: level 101/[1] -> level 100/[] -> level 101/[].

Expected: obsolete responses are ignored, leaving level 101/[1] throughout.

Reproduced both with the source hooks and with the hooks extracted from dist/assets/index-CT7HPZLO.js, using the actual bundled React dispatcher and viem HTTP transport/ABI decoder, controlled fetch responses, and storage that throws.

The actual transport issued both requests concurrently; its 20-second timeout permits this overlap.

    • mediumCurrent-puzzle leaderboard drops valid scores when settlement is delayedweb/src/hooks/usePuzzle.ts:87

Every refresh rebuilds the leaderboard exclusively from the latest 5,000 blocks. Puzzle expiry is determined by 48 certified SqueekCore rounds, so a settlement delay can keep the same puzzle open for longer than that block window. Older valid Solved events then disappear even though bestMoves and solvedCount still contain them.

Later, worse submissions can also be displayed as a player's best after the earlier better event ages out. The exported dist/assets/index-CT7HPZLO.js contains the same lookback calculation. Retrieve the current level's complete event history in bounded RPC chunks, or use equivalent complete indexed data, rather than treating a fixed block-age window as the puzzle lifetime.

Keep board().index at 100, certifiedRound at 4820, startRound at 4800, endRound at 4848, and solved at 1 while settlement is delayed.

      Supply a valid Solved(level=100, player=0x1111111111111111111111111111111111111111, moves=7) event at block 12025560 and bestMoves(100, player)=7.

At latest block 12030561, load or refresh the page.

The actual hook requests fromBlock=12025561 and returns entries=[], causing Leaderboard.tsx to show "No submissions yet" while My score shows 7 moves and Solvers shows 1.

Expected: the 7-move solver remains ranked until the certified frontier changes the puzzle.

Reproduced in the source hook and the production bundle with the actual bundled viem request/response encoder, decoder and Solved event parser.

Only fetch responses and React scheduling were controlled; the valid event was ABI-encoded with the indexed level and player topics.

Recorded three reproducible findings in [.imd-findings.json][findings]:

    • High — bug: RPC failures make the mobile page overflow. At 390×844, a failed board() request expands the document to 627px in Chromium and 644px in WebKit. Replace the full exception dump with concise error text and wrap retained diagnostics.
    • Medium — accessibility: polling steals focus inside the rules dialog. After one ten-second poll, focus moves from the explorer link to “Close.” Pass a stable close callback so polling does not rerun focus management.
    • Medium — bug: the completed-game wallet-install button only produces an error. With no injected wallet, clicking “Install a wallet to submit” opens no destination. Reuse the header’s existing installation link.

Source files remain unchanged. Checks ran against a temporary copy: npm ci and npm run build passed; 33/33 unit tests and 18/18 Chromium browser scenarios passed, including live Sepolia resume. Additional Chromium and WebKit checks passed the mobile save/resume flow and confirmed all three defects. The rebuilt export matches the supplied dist/.

    • highbug: RPC failures make the mobile page overflowweb/src/App.tsx:179

Now: The load-error panel renders the full viem exception without breaking its JSON request body and long addresses, producing horizontal overflow on phones.

Change to: Render the existing translated load-failure message with a concise error detail and Retry; apply overflow-wrap:anywhere to any retained diagnostic text so the panel remains within the game column. Do not clip the error or addresses.

Why: The review requires no horizontal scrolling at 320/390px, including reachable failure and retry states.

Chromium, 390x844: load the static export while intercepting the Sepolia JSON-RPC board() eth_call (data 0x7cd3229a) and returning {"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":,"error":{"code":-32000,"message":"upstream unavailable"}}.

      Wait for Retry.

Expected: a readable error inside the 324px game column and document.scrollWidth=390.

Actual: document.documentElement.scrollWidth=627 and body.scrollWidth=627; the unbroken request-body/address text spills beyond the right edge.

The normal loaded page measures 390, so this is the error renderer, not the external service failing.

Repeated in WebKit 26.0 at 390x844 with the same response: document.scrollWidth=644, while the normal loaded page remains 390.

    • mediumaccessibility: the ten-second poll steals focus inside the rules dialogweb/src/App.tsx:310

Now: App passes a new onClose function on every render. RulesModal includes onClose in its focus-management effect dependencies, so every successful board poll tears down the effect and focuses Close again.

Change to: Pass a stable close handler created with useCallback, so entering focus, trapping Tab and restoring focus run only when the dialog actually opens or closes.

Why: A keyboard visitor must be able to read and use the rules/explorer link without background polling moving focus.

Chromium, 1440x900: load a board, open How to play, and Tab or focus the View on block explorer link.

Leave the dialog open through the ten-second board poll with the same level index and seed.

Expected: focus remains on that link.

Actual: board reads increase from 1 to 2 and document.activeElement changes from the explorer anchor to the ESC button (aria-label="Close").

Reproduced with Playwright clock.runFor(10500); no navigation, language change or user focus action occurred during the poll.

WebKit 26.0 at 1440x900 reproduces the same focus change and 1-to-2 board-read count.

    • mediumbug: the completed-game wallet-install button only produces an errorweb/src/App.tsx:422

Now: With no injected wallet, a restored solved board displays Install a wallet to submit, but the button calls wallet.connect(), which only reports that no wallet is installed.

Change to: In the existing !connected branch, render the same MetaMask download anchor used by ConnectButton when !hasProvider; retain onConnect for visitors with a provider.

Why: This primary completion action promises wallet installation and must lead to that action, including after restoring a completed puzzle.

Chromium, 390x844, window.ethereum absent: serve board index=41, seed=0x followed by ab repeated 32 times, player=7, boundary walls on a 6x6 board, boxes at [8,14,20], targets at [9,15,21].

      Store a version-1 matching progress record with chainId=11155111, contract=0x49d0227b7e6d94a3c2c321b1c5770ab39149c391, levelIndex="41" and moves=[1,3,2,1,3,2,1].

Reload and click Install a wallet to submit.

Expected: open the existing wallet installation destination.

Actual: URL unchanged, zero new tabs, and No browser wallet detected.

Install MetaMask or another injected wallet first. appears.

The header Install wallet link does have the correct download destination.

WebKit 26.0 at 390x844 reproduces the same unchanged URL, zero new tabs and error message.

  6. Build websiteAgent #6913 files changed

Fixed all three reproduced issues: mobile error overflow, dialog focus during polling, and wallet-install navigation. Rebuilt dist/ and recorded each finding in .imd-responses.json.

Build/typecheck, 33 unit tests, 22 browser scenarios and 16 design checks passed. Live desktop/mobile flow verified. WebKit could not launch due to missing runtime libraries. Details are in web/README.md.
