Contract PixelCommons: a shared 64x64 pixel canvas that anyone can paint on.

  • Each pixel holds one of 16 colors (index 0-15). 0 is white, the starting color.
  • paint(x, y, color): anyone can call it. Reverts if x or y is outside 0-63 or color is above 15. One paint per wallet every 30 seconds.
  • Each paint stores the color and emits Painted(painter, x, y, color).
  • A view returns the whole canvas in one call: 4,096 bytes, one byte per pixel, row by row.
  • No owner, no admin, no fees, no pause, not upgradeable. Holds no ETH or tokens. Website: shows the canvas large and crisp, refreshed every few seconds. Anyone can look without a wallet. With a wallet connected: pick one of the 16 colors, click a pixel to paint it, and see a countdown to the next paint. A side feed lists the latest 20 paints (who, where, which color).

Deliver: (1) the smart contracts for this, tested and reviewed, then deploy PixelCommons on chain to Sepolia (chain 11155111) — contracts only, no token; (2) publish the source code to a public GitHub repository; (3) a user-facing website that uses the deployed contract addresses, where people connect a wallet and use them, published at a public URL on IPFS.

  3. Audit economicsAgent #399found nothing

The review is complete. No defect in the economics area survived verification, and the findings file records that with full coverage.

Outcome: .imd-findings.json holds an empty findings list and 8 coverage rows. The single verifier entry point, paint, is marked holds. No tracked file was changed. The scratch probe I used was deleted.

What I checked against the Economic Security, Invariant and Flow Gap guides:

    • Value flows and dependencies. The contract has no imports, external calls, tokens, oracles, payable paths, receive or fallback. There is nothing to extract and no dependency that can block anything. Forced ETH is unrecoverable, but the brief forbids an owner, and the README documents this.
    • Invariants. The canvas stays exactly 4,096 bytes with every byte below 16, because the array is private and only written by index after the bounds checks. The deadline mapping has one writer, written only after all guards pass. The view getter reads the same slot the guard reads, so view and write cannot diverge. The shipped invariant test agrees across 8,192 handler calls.
    • Cooldown timing. Equality at the deadline is allowed, matching the brief's 30-second interval. Sepolia timestamps are slot-derived, so a proposer cannot shorten the interval. The slither timestamp line is the intended design, not a defect.
    • Griefing and incentives. Anyone can overwrite any pixel, and fresh wallets each get their own cooldown. The brief asks for a per-wallet limit on an open canvas, so this is the requested design and a trust assumption, not a bypass.
    • Frontend contract. The canvas view, the deadline getter and the Painted event supply what the website brief needs. The exported ABI in docs is byte-identical to the compiled ABI.
    • Manifest. No launch.json exists yet. The constructor takes no arguments and grants nothing to its caller, so the only valid manifest entry is an empty argument list.

Verification run: the build and all 19 tests pass, formatting check passes, and a scratch probe confirmed that a second paint from one sender in the same block reverts and that a deadline computed at a maximal realistic timestamp does not overflow.

Not covered: nothing in the assigned area was left unreached. Areas outside it, such as deep bytecode review, were only touched where the shipped tests already cover them.

  4. Audit permissionsAgent #808found 1 info

The review is complete and the findings file is written. No source files were changed.

Result: no defects found in my area. PixelCommons has no roles, owner, initializer, proxy, external calls or funds, so the Access Control, Trust Gap and Asymmetry checklists mostly have nothing to bite on. Everything I could trace behaves as the approved workflow specifies.

    What I checked and how:

    • Access control. The only state-changing entry point is paint, which is intentionally permissionless. Both storage variables have a single writer, so there is no weaker-guard parallel path. The constructor takes no arguments and never reads its caller, so factory deployment traps no control.
    • Asymmetry. Writer and reader of the canvas use the same row-major offset. The first-paint and repeat branches, and all three revert paths, leave state untouched. The exported ABI in docs/abi is identical to fresh compiler output.
    • Trust gap. No economics, recipients or admin setters exist, so no seam exists.
    • Slither lead. The timestamp comparison is the brief's requested 30-second cooldown, not a defect.
    • Verification. Build, 18 unit and fuzz tests, and the 128-run invariant suite all pass. My scratch tests were removed after use.

One informational note is recorded: the cooldown is keyed on the calling address, so one transaction can repaint a whole row through throwaway contracts. This is what the brief asked for and the README documents it, so it is a trust assumption for the author and frontend team, not a fix request.

The coverage record has 10 rows. The single listed entry point and eight invariants are marked holds. The launch manifest is marked unreached because no launch.json exists in the tree yet. The expected manifest is one entry for PixelCommons with empty constructor arguments and no owner.

    • infoRate limit is per msg.sender only: one transaction can paint any number of pixels through throwaway contracts (documented design limit, not a defect)src/PixelCommons.sol:43

Access-control map: PixelCommons has no roles, modifiers, owner, initializer, proxy or external calls. The only guard on the single state-changing entry point paint() is the 30-second cooldown keyed by msg.sender (lines 43-48). The approved workflow asks for exactly this ('One paint per wallet every 30 seconds') and README.md 'Assumptions and limitations' states that the cooldown is per address, not per human, with no Sybil resistance.

The check is therefore correct against its specification. This note records, as a trust assumption for the author, operator and frontend team, that the guard bounds nothing per human or per transaction: a contract that CREATEs a fresh minimal contract per pixel, each calling paint() once in its constructor, repaints an entire 64-pixel row (or the whole canvas, gas permitting) in one transaction while the deploying wallet's own nextPaintAt stays 0.

Nobody loses funds and no state is corrupted; the impact is only that the '30 seconds per wallet' rule gives weaker canvas-churn protection than a reader might assume. If the requester wants a stronger limit it is a design change (for example rejecting callers with code, which would also exclude legitimate smart-contract wallets the README promises to support), not a fix to this code. Reported at info so the judge can see the lens was applied; it should not reopen the work.

State: fresh PixelCommons at any block.timestamp.

      Call sequence (one transaction from wallet W): for x in 0..63: new Brush(canvas, x, 0, 15) where Brush's constructor calls canvas.paint(x, 0, 15).

Expected under a literal reading of 'one paint per wallet every 30 seconds': at most one pixel changes per 30 seconds for the person controlling W.

Actual: getCanvas()[0..63] all equal 15 immediately, each Painted event names a distinct Brush address as painter, and nextPaintAt(W) == 0.

Verified with a scratch Foundry test (64 Brush deployments, 8.7M gas, all assertions pass).

  5. Audit mathAgent #540found nothing

The review is complete. The findings file holds an empty findings list and eight coverage rows, and the working tree is clean apart from that file.

Result: no defects in the math, boundary or numerical-gap area. The contract has a single state-changing entry point, and I traced it in full.

    • Index arithmetic holds. Both coordinates are checked below 64 before the multiply, so the largest offset is 4095 inside a 4096-byte canvas. A scratch test painted all four corners and the storage-word edges at columns 31, 32, 63 and the next row with no bleed into neighbouring bytes.
    • Cast and colour range hold. The colour is checked below 16 before the narrowing cast, so every stored byte stays in the 0x00 to 0x0f range. Nothing writes the canvas length slot after construction.
    • Cooldown comparator holds at the boundary. A paint at the deadline succeeds, one second earlier reverts with the stored deadline, and a same-block second paint reverts. The first paint at timestamp zero is allowed. Near the top of the integer range the checked addition reverts instead of wrapping.
    • No boundary surfaces exist. There are no external calls, payable functions, sentinel addresses or decoded bytes inputs. ETH transfers and unknown selectors revert.
    • The Slither timestamp lead is rejected. The brief asks for a wall-clock cooldown, and no value depends on timestamp precision.
    • ABI export and formatting verified. The exported ABI matches the compiler output exactly, and the project's 19 tests pass including the invariant run.

One row is marked unreached. No launch.json exists yet, since the manifest assignment has not run. When written it should contain one PixelCommons entry with an empty constructor argument list, because the constructor takes no parameters and there is no owner. The gas ceiling comparison for the deployment also could not be done locally because the pinned policy value is not in the tree.

  6. Audit flowAgent #440found nothing

Review complete. The working tree is clean apart from the findings file, and no repository file was modified.

Result: no defects found. .imd-findings.json holds an empty findings list and nine coverage rows, including a holds row for the single entry point PixelCommons.paint(uint256,uint256,uint256).

What I checked, under the Execution Trace, Periphery and First Principles guides:

    • paint control flow. Both coordinate guards, the color guard and the cooldown comparison sit before the two state writes. The index into the canvas tops out at 4095 against a 4096-byte array, the uint8 cast is lossless after the bound, and the timestamp addition cannot overflow. There are no external calls, so no reentrancy or stale-read surface exists. The first paint at timestamp zero works, and a rejected call leaves the cooldown and canvas untouched.
    • Constructor and deployment. No arguments, no payable, no use of msg.sender or tx.origin, so the factory gains no role. I scanned both init and runtime code and found no CREATE, CALL, DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE or SELFDESTRUCT. Runtime is 1,083 bytes.
    • Periphery. There are no libraries or helpers. The only dependency is vendored forge-std v1.9.7, used by tests alone.
    • ABI documentation. The exported JSON is byte-for-byte equal to the compiler's output, and the ABI markdown matches the source.
    • Manifest. No launch.json exists yet. The accepted source implies one entry for PixelCommons with an empty constructorArgs list and no owner reference. Nothing conflicts with the contracts-only policy.
    • Static analysis lead. The slither timestamp warning is the intended cooldown clock from the brief, and is not a defect.
    • Tests. All 19 tests pass locally, including the 8,192-call invariant run, and formatting is clean.

The per-address cooldown is recorded as a design limit, since the brief asks for one paint per wallet and fresh addresses can paint independently. Forced ETH is unrecoverable by design because the brief excludes any admin role.

The review is complete. No defect reproduced, and the findings file holds an empty list with a seven-row coverage record.

    Scope

Files read: src/PixelCommons.sol (60 lines), launch.json, docs/abi/PixelCommons.json, docs/ABI.md, docs/SECURITY.md, README.md, the protected deployment test and the brief. Ran forge build, forge test (29 passed, including two stateful invariant suites) and a bytecode scan.

    Severity counts: 0 Critical · 0 High · 0 Medium · 0 Low

    Specialist findings settled

    • audit_permissions [info], per-sender rate limit bypassed by throwaway contracts. Reproduces: each freshly created contract is a new msg.sender with a zero deadline, so one transaction can repaint a whole row. Dropped as a defect. The brief asks for "one paint per wallet every 30 seconds", the README states there is no Sybil resistance, and nothing is lost or corrupted. Recorded as a trust assumption in the coverage record.
    • slither timestamp lead. The timestamp comparison is the requested 30-second clock. Not a defect.
    • audit_economics, audit_flow, audit_math and the independent tester reported nothing. Nothing to merge.

    What I verified myself

    • paint() rejects out-of-range coordinates and colors before any write, rejects early callers, allows the call exactly at the deadline, writes one in-bounds byte and emits the event. No external call exists, so no reentry surface.
    • Custody and privileges. The source has no payable, receive, fallback, delegatecall, selfdestruct or tx.origin. The compiled runtime contains no DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE, SELFDESTRUCT, CREATE or CREATE2.
    • Manifest and deployment. launch.json has only the three schema keys, one contract with an empty argument list that matches the parameterless constructor, and notes well under the limit. The constructor touches no other contract, so it deploys on an empty chain under the factory's CREATE2 model. Sizes are far under the limits.
    artifactsize
    init code1,587 bytes
    runtime1,083 bytes
    • ABI export is a plain array identical to the compiled ABI.

The only file I created is .imd-findings.json in the repository root. No source, test or configuration file was touched.

The visual idea is a shared sheet of pixels, with a compact palette and a readable activity feed.

    • Medium — bug: the countdown jumps backward. At 390×844, unchanged block data makes “28s” return to “30s” every four seconds. Preserve the countdown’s observation time across identical reads, separately from freshness tracking, so refreshing does not restart the estimate.
    • Medium — bug: the feed loses its twentieth entry after a shallow reorganization. At 390×844, removing the newest of 21 fixture events leaves 20 canonical events but only 19 displayed. Recover discarded history candidates before marking the feed complete.
    • Low — bug: “Copied” persists after switching accounts.

    • mediumbug: Recent paints loses the twentieth entry after a shallow reorganizationweb/src/chain.ts:93

Now: merge permanently truncates its history cache to 20 entries. When a shallow reorganization removes a recent paint, refresh searches before olderCursor instead of recovering the next event from the already-scanned interval; the feed can claim completion with only 19 of 20 canonical paints.

Change to: preserve candidates from the scanned interval and slice only the displayed result, or rescan the discarded interval when overlap replacement leaves fewer than 20 entries.

Why: the brief requires the latest 20 paints, including who, where and which color; a normal chain reorganization must not permanently omit an existing entry.

At 390 x 844 (also independent of viewport), use a mock reader with one valid Painted event from a distinct painter in each block 4980 through 5000, no contract code before block 3000, and head 5000.

Call PaintFeed.refresh(5000n): it returns 20 events, blocks 5000..4981.

Remove the orphaned event at block 5000 and refresh at heads 5001 and 5002.

Measured both results: 19 events, blocks 4999..4981, complete=true.

      Expected: 20 events, blocks 4999..4980.

Recorded log query ranges are [3000,5000], [4988,5001], [4989,5002], so event 4980 is never recovered.

App.tsx:114 renders these returned events as the Recent paints rows.

Browser confirmation at 390 x 844: render the same 21-event fixture, remove its newest event, advance the head and click Refresh canvas.

After 4.2 seconds the canonical log set has 20 events but .activity-list li has 19 rows, the heading still says Latest 20, and no searching indicator is displayed.

    • mediumbug: the paint countdown jumps backward on every unchanged-block refreshweb/src/useCanvas.ts:55

Now: the countdown subtracts elapsed time since snapshot.fetchedAt, but each four-second poll sets fetchedAt to the current time even when the block timestamp and nextPaintAt are unchanged. The displayed seconds repeatedly increase between blocks.

Change to: retain the first observation time for an unchanged block/account/cooldown when calculating the countdown, while keeping the latest fetch time separately for freshness and chain time for transaction eligibility.

Why: the brief requires a countdown to the next paint; refreshing the same chain state must not restart that countdown.

Chromium at 390 x 844: connect an injected test wallet on Sepolia, return a valid canvas and a latest block with timestamp T, and return nextPaintAt=T+30 for that account.

Keep that same latest block for 11 seconds while the normal four-second polling runs; this models the interval between new blocks.

Observed button text: Next paint in 28s at 3.02s and 3.53s, then Next paint in 30s at 4.03s; 28s at 7.05s and 7.55s, then 30s at 8.05s.

Expected: the estimate continues decreasing while the block is unchanged, with painting still gated on chain time.

No transaction needs to be signed.

    • lowbug: an address remains marked Copied after the connected account changesweb/src/App.tsx:13

Now: AddressLink retains its copied state when its address prop changes. After switching wallet accounts, the new address is labelled Copied and its status says Address copied even though the clipboard still contains the old address.

Change to: reset copied and error when address changes so the new account starts with the Copy label.

Why: confirmation must describe the address actually copied; the current confirmation can cause a visitor to paste a different account than the one displayed.

Chromium at 390 x 844 with clipboard permission: connect injected account A=0xa1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1, expand Connected account and click its Copy button.

      Emit accountsChanged with B=0xc3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3c3.

Measured: the address link changes to B, while the button still reads Copied and the status reads Address copied; navigator.clipboard.readText() still returns A.

Expected: B displays Copy until the user copies B.

This needs no signature or live transaction.
