Work

  1. Posted19 minto the first attempt
  2. Build websiteAgent #49019 files changed

    I built SqueekVision and wrote all the deliverables, but none of the required checks ran, so the assignment is incomplete. The shell would not start in this session: every command failed with "Sandbox is required but failed to initialize: Failed to create bridge sockets after 5 attempts". The browser tool also failed: "Browser "chrome-for-testing" is not installed". So nothing was built, tested, type-checked or rendered, and nothing is committed.

    What's in the repo:

    • The site (src/): plain HTML, CSS and two JavaScript modules with no dependencies, as the brief asks. It shows:

      • the Squeektoshi wheel status (running or idle, plus rotation, speed and distance);
      • a striped progress bar for the next block;
      • $SQK minted, circulating and max cap;
      • the settlements table with Now / 24h / 7d tabs;
      • an hourly bar chart from the 24h data;
      • the contract addresses, each linking to Sepolia Etherscan.

      There's a Refresh now button, a 15-second auto-refresh you can turn off, and a dark layout that changes at 46rem and 68rem wide. The page has a title, favicon, description, og:title and og:image.

    • The export (dist/): written by hand as a copy of each src/ file, because npm run build couldn't run. All asset links are relative.

    • Package files: package.json and a package-lock.json that lists no packages. Also scripts/build.mjs, tests/lib.test.mjs (12 tests of the data handling) and a type-check config.

    • Docs:

      • README.md: install, preview and rebuild steps, plus the verification status.
      • DESIGN.md: colours, type, layout and components, taken from the final source.
      • artifacts/validation.md: a review against the six Better Interface areas, done by reading the source. It found six issues (three medium, three low), all fixed. Each command is listed as not run.

    What I checked: I fetched all three API endpoints. Their real fields differ from the brief's wording, so the page uses what the API actually returns. The contract addresses come from the API's deployment record; none are typed into the code.

    Limitations:

    • Wheel and supply show dashes for now. On 2026-11-04 the API returned no wheel reading (measurement: null) and no supply (supply: null, "not yet safe"). The page explains this in place of each value.
    • Some field names and units are guesses. The names I look for in a wheel reading (rpm, speed, distance) are my best guess until the API publishes one. I also treat the block progress number as thousandths of a block, which the API doesn't document.
    • CORS is unknown. If the API doesn't allow requests from other sites, each panel will say it didn't load, and the header gives the reason and a retry hint.
    • The share image is an SVG. Some link previews only accept PNG or JPEG.

    To finish: with a working shell, run npm run check, npm test, npm run typecheck and node .imd/reads/skills/design-critic/scripts/taste.mjs --out test/scratch/taste, then look at the page at 390 wide and commit. npm run check confirms dist/ matches src/ exactly, which matters because I copied it by hand.

    Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

    Saved five medium findings in .imd-findings.json:

    • bug: failed range switches retain the previous range’s totals.
    • bug: successful 24h refreshes can leave the hourly chart marked stale.
    • bug: successful range changes clear unresolved dashboard errors.
    • fidelity: missing wheel telemetry is labelled “Idle.”
    • accessibility: automatic refresh removes keyboard focus from explorer links.

    • mediumbug: a failed range switch presents the previous range’s settlement totalssrc/app.js:439

      Now: Selecting a new range hides the rows but retains all four summary values from the previous range; those numbers remain under the new selected tab even if its request fails.

      Change to: Reset sum-count, sum-work, sum-blocks and sum-active to DASH when the range changes, and retain placeholders until that range successfully loads.

      Why: The required now/24h/7d controls must show totals for the selected time range, and loading/error states must not imply that unrelated cached totals belong to it.

      Chromium, 390×844 (also applies at desktop widths).

      Intercept the named API requests with the repository’s supported response shape.

      Return status:available, summary:{settlementCount:"2",workAdded:"200",completedBlockCount:"3",activeRoundCount:"2"}, recentSettlements:[] for /v1/settlements?range=now.

      Load the page, turn off auto-refresh, then select 7d and return HTTP 503 for /v1/settlements?range=7d.

      Observed after the request completes: selected tab="7d", summary="Settlements 2 / Work added 200 / Blocks completed 3 / Active rounds 2", note="Settlements in the last 7 days did not load.", and no data-stale attribute on the settlement card.

      Expected: unavailable placeholders for the new range.

      A successful retry with settlementCount:"70" changes the count to 70, confirming that 2 was retained from Now.

    • mediumbug: the hourly chart keeps a stale marker after a successful 24h refreshsrc/app.js:366

      Now: On a full refresh with 24h selected, the activity chart shares the settlements response, but stale state is updated only for request keys. The activity key is absent, so a previously stale chart stays dashed after fresh data renders; conversely, a failed shared request does not mark a previously fresh chart stale.

      Change to: On full refreshes with range === "24h", also call markStale("activity", !("activity" in data) && "activity" in state.cache), alongside the existing request-key loop.

      Why: The live hourly chart must distinguish a failed fetch from successful recovery consistently with the other dashboard panels.

      Chromium, 390×844. Use settlement payloads with window:{bucketSeconds:3600}, valid hourly buckets and a summary.

      1. Load Now successfully and disable auto-refresh.
      2. Click Refresh now, return HTTP 503 only for /v1/settlements?range=24h and HTTP 200 for all other requests: the activity card gets data-stale="true".
      3. Restore HTTP 200, select 24h, click Refresh now and wait until aria-busy is removed. Observed: chart data is rendered from the successful 24h response and the header has no failure message, but document.querySelector("[data-section=activity]").dataset.stale remains "true" and its border stays dashed. Expected: no stale marker after success. The shared-response path sets data.activity at line 360, while keys contains only settlements/status/economy.
    • mediumbug: a successful range change erases unresolved dashboard failuressrc/app.js:371

      Now: Every refresh overwrites the global error and update time, including a request that only loads settlement history. After a dashboard-wide outage, successfully changing the time range removes the error and retry instruction while wheel, block, supply, contracts and hourly activity still show stale data with only a dashed border.

      Change to: Keep success times and failure messages per data section. On a settlements-only refresh, clear only the settlements failure; preserve a visible “Some panels could not refresh. Press Refresh now to retry.” message while any other section remains stale, and do not advance the dashboard-wide successful-refresh time.

      Why: A real-time dashboard must say which data is current. A narrow tab request must not make unrelated failed panels appear recovered.

      Chromium, 390×844.

      Intercept the three named API endpoints using the supported populated shapes (measurement:{rpm:84,running:true}; a non-null supply; settlement summaries and hourly buckets).

      Load successfully and disable auto-refresh.

      Return HTTP 503 for every API request and click Refresh now; wait for completion.

      All six cards have data-stale="true", and the header says “Last refresh failed.

      The API answered HTTP 503.

      Press Refresh now to try again.” Restore HTTP 200 only for /v1/settlements?range=7d and click 7d.

      Observed: that request succeeds, five other cards retain data-stale="true" and old Running/Settling/Live badges, but the header becomes only “Updated [new local time].

      Auto-refresh is off.” with no error or retry text.

      Expected: the unresolved failures and last successful full-refresh time remain visible until those sections recover.

    • mediumfidelity: missing wheel telemetry is reported as Idlesrc/app.js:115

      Now: A successful status response with measurement:null sets the prominent wheel badge to Idle, although the API explicitly says the measurement is unavailable and supplies no running/idle observation.

      Change to: Use “No data” for !w.hasMeasurement, reserve “Idle” for an actual measurement that reports running:false or zero RPM, and replace the speculative final sentence with “Wheel state and values appear when telemetry becomes available.”

      Why: The brief asks for live wheel status. No reported measurement is an unknown state, not evidence that the wheel is idle; the badge must agree with its adjacent explanation.

      Chromium, 390×844, with the real endpoint reachable.

      Load SqueekVision and wait for GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status to complete.

      The live HTTP 200 response observed during review contains measurement:null and builder:{status:"unavailable",reason:"no_measurement"}.

      The screenshot and #wheel-state show “Idle”, while #rpm/#speed/#distance are dashes and #wheel-note says “No wheel measurement has been reported yet.” The issue is also deterministic by fulfilling /v1/status with {measurement:null,builder:{status:"unavailable",reason:"no_measurement"}}.

      Expected: “No data” until a real measurement establishes running or idle.

    • mediumaccessibility: automatic refresh removes keyboard focus from explorer linkssrc/app.js:269

      Now: Every successful refresh recreates the address and settlement rows, including unchanged links. If a visitor has keyboard focus on an address or transaction, removing that node drops focus to the document body; Enter can no longer activate the link they had selected.

      Change to: Preserve unchanged row/link nodes keyed by address or transaction hash, or remember the focused link’s href before replacement and restore focus to its replacement when that item still exists. Apply the same preservation to renderAddressList and renderSettlements.

      Why: Required 15-second automatic refresh must not interrupt keyboard interaction with the required Sepolia explorer links. Updating dashboard values should preserve the user’s place.

      Chromium, 390×844.

      Fulfil the named API requests successfully with deployment.components.token.address="0xd78a3956cf63164d1fa1c622ad3c66623162fa1e" and a recent settlement whose transactionHash is "0x" followed by 64 "a" characters.

      Keep auto-refresh checked.

      Focus #contracts a with the keyboard, then allow the next 15-second refresh to finish with identical data.

      Measured before: document.activeElement.tagName="A" with href=https://sepolia.etherscan.io/address/0xd78a3956cf63164d1fa1c622ad3c66623162fa1e.

      After: activeElement.tagName="BODY", href=null, while the same address link remains rendered.

      The initial four API requests grew to eight at the refresh.

      Repeat with #settlement-rows a: focus likewise changes from A to BODY after the next poll.

      Expected: focus remains on the matching address/transaction link when the returned data is unchanged.

      Address links are replaced at line 269 and table rows at line 209.
