Build the "Squeek Pal" website: a static site (works from IPFS, relative URLs, hash routing) for a browser companion that puts a tiny pixel hamster on x.com, living in sync with Squeektoshi, the real hamster whose wheel powers Squeekchain (a proof-of-work toychain on Ethereum Sepolia).

The website has three parts: (a) a landing page explaining Squeek Pal, (b) a playable in-page demo of the pal (same widget, chest and care logic as the extension, running on a mock timeline of sample posts, with live data from the Squeekchain API), (c) a download of the browser extension as a .zip (Chrome Manifest V3 + Firefox) built from the same repository, with a step-by-step "Load unpacked" install guide. The extension source lives in /extension, the site in /site, shared game logic in /shared. No backend, no wallet, no token, no automated posting.

WHAT THE PLAYER SEES

  1. A small draggable pixel hamster in a corner of x.com, inside a Shadow DOM root so X's CSS never clashes. It walks, eats, naps and runs. Click it to open a mini panel (stats, feed, play, clean). It can be minimised to a 24 px bubble or hidden on a given page.
  2. Seed chests: while you scroll the timeline, a chest occasionally appears in the action row of a tweet (at most 1 per 20 tweets seen and 12 per real hour). Click the chest to open it for Seeds or an item. Opening never posts, likes, replies or follows anything. Tweets that mention Squeekchain ("squeekchain", "@squeekchain", "$SQK", "#Squeekchain", case-insensitive, read from the visible tweet text only) can hold a golden chest worth more.
  3. Toolbar popup: pet card, stats, Seeds, shop, wardrobe, quests, settings, and a "Squeektoshi live" strip.
  4. Share: "Share my Squeek Pal" opens X's own compose window via https://x.com/intent/post with prefilled text and the landing page link. The user decides whether to post. A 1200x630 PNG pet card can also be downloaded.

SQUEEKCHAIN SYNC (public read-only API, CORS open, no key)

Base https://api.squeekchain.com/v1. Big numbers are decimal strings. "status":"unavailable" means unknown, never zero.

  • The background service worker polls GET /status once a minute with chrome.alarms (never faster) and stores the result in chrome.storage: measurement.coreStatus ("ACTIVE"/"IDLE"/"COUNTER_FAULT"), measurement.freshness, measurement.rpmMilli, measurement.speedMmPerSecond, measurement.distanceMm, measurement.cumulativeWorkUnits, builder.anchor.blockHeight, builder.anchor.blockProgress.
  • GET /events?category=measurement&limit=20 every 5 minutes. Rules:
  • When coreStatus is ACTIVE and freshness online, your pal runs on its wheel and earns 1 Seed per new real magnet pass (difference in cumulativeWorkUnits between polls), max 300 Seeds per real hour, only while an x.com tab is open. Chests are worth 2x during this time.
  • When IDLE, your pal naps and recovers energy 2x faster.
  • A new real Squeek block (blockHeight goes up) while browsing drops one bonus chest.
  • A new measurement.speed_record or distance milestone event (dedupe by id; on a fresh install ignore events older than 1 hour) starts a 1-hour golden-chest festival.
  • Never encourage or pressure the real hamster to run. If the API fails, everything still works without the sync bonuses, and the strip says "Can't reach the wheel right now". Handle 429 with Retry-After.

GAME

Stats 0-100: hunger, happiness, energy, cleanliness, drifting slowly with time (cap 12 h of drift while the browser is closed). The pal never dies; neglect makes it grumpy. XP from care, chests and running; stages Pup, Junior, Adult, Wheel Legend. Shop for Seeds: 3 foods, 3 toys, 4 hats, 3 wheel skins. Cosmetics show on the pal on x.com and on the pet card. Daily quests (3 per Squeek day, reset 12:00 UTC): open 5 chests, find a golden chest, be online during a run, feed your pal twice. Achievements (~20).

PRIVACY, SAFETY, X RULES

  • Permissions: "storage", "alarms"; host permissions only https://x.com/, https://twitter.com/, https://api.squeekchain.com/*. No "tabs", no "cookies", no "<all_urls>", no remote code, no eval.
  • Never read or send the user's DMs, notifications, cookies, tokens, followers or any data off the device. Only visible tweet text is checked locally for the keywords above. No analytics or trackers.
  • Never click, post, like, follow, reply or retweet on the user's behalf. Never ask users to post replies to open chests.
  • Selectors for tweets must be centralised in one file with fallbacks (article[data-testid="tweet"], role="article"), and the pal must keep working (widget + popup) if X changes its markup and chests can't be placed.
  • Respect prefers-reduced-motion and X's dark/light/dim theme.

TECH

TypeScript + Vite (or plain JS), one codebase building Chrome MV3 and Firefox (browser_specific_settings). Content script, background service worker, popup, options. Pixel art drawn in code on canvas, original, no external images or fonts. Save in chrome.storage.local, one versioned key with migrations, export/import as a text code. Game rules in pure functions with unit tests (drift, earnings and hourly cap, chest rate limits, quests reset at 12:00 UTC, festival dedupe). EN and VI, with a language switch. Landing page: what it is, screenshots drawn from the game art, permissions explained in plain words, step-by-step "Load unpacked" install for Chrome and Firefox, download of the .zip, source link, "Made by @Truongsonxyz" (https://x.com/Truongsonxyz), "Join Squeekchain Genesis" (https://squeekchain.com/genesis/e86n3z8y), and "unofficial fan project, testnet values have no monetary value".

ACCEPTANCE

  • Extension loads unpacked in Chrome and Firefox with no errors; the pal appears on x.com home, profile and tweet pages.
  • Chests appear within the stated rate limits and open on click only; no network calls other than api.squeekchain.com.
  • Sync earning happens only while coreStatus is ACTIVE and respects 300 Seeds per hour.
  • Disabling chest placement or breaking the tweet selector leaves the pal and popup working.
  • Unit tests and build pass; README lists permissions and why, the API fields used, and the rules above.

There are 12 findings in .imd-findings.json: 2 high and 10 medium. The two high ones are the missing README and the festival, which never starts. I changed no files in the tree.

    What I couldn't check

    • WebKit: it wouldn't launch because this machine lacks system libraries (libgtk-4 and others), so the main interaction ran in Chromium only.
    • Firefox: I linted the build but didn't load it. web-ext lint gave 0 errors and 3 innerHTML warnings.
    • Chrome extension: I loaded it unpacked, but against mock x.com pages, not the real site.
    • Live running state: the wheel reported IDLE throughout, so running and earning are covered only by unit tests.

Left out by the 12-finding cap (all low)

    • "Show more posts" adds posts below the fold with no visible change.
    • s1 puts the API word "ACTIVE" in landing copy.
    • "Start the demo over" leaves the Quests tab empty and old chests dead. I saw this in the code but didn't run it.

The idea: a landing page and playable demo for a pixel hamster that lives on x.com, carried by one chunky code-drawn pal on warm paper colours. No devices compete with it, so there is nothing to cut.

    • highfidelity: the README the brief requires does not existscripts/build-extension.mjs:106

Now: There is no README.md in the repository root or in squeek-pal-source.zip. The build lists it as optional and skips it silently.

Change to: Add README.md at the root with three headed lists: each permission and host with why it is needed (storage, alarms, https://x.com/, https://twitter.com/, https://api.squeekchain.com/*), the API fields used (measurement.coreStatus, freshness, rpmMilli, speedMmPerSecond, distanceMm, cumulativeWorkUnits, builder.anchor.blockHeight, blockProgress, and GET /events?category=measurement&limit=20), and the rules (1 Seed per magnet pass, 300 per hour, chest limits, 2x, nap recovery, bonus chest, festival, 12:00 UTC reset, no automated actions). The existing build line then packs it into the source zip with no further change.

Why: Brief, acceptance: "README lists permissions and why, the API fields used, and the rules above."

      Any width, no browser needed.

Steps: run ls README* at the repository root, then list dist/downloads/squeek-pal-source.zip.

      Expected: a README in both.

Actual: ls: cannot access 'README*', and the source zip's 37 entries hold no README.md at the top level.

    • highbug: the golden-chest festival never starts because every live event is thrown awayshared/api.ts:70

Now: parseEvents looks for timestamp, createdAt, time or observedAt at the top of each event. The live API sends occurredAt and recordedAt, so at is 0 and every event is dropped. The landing page still promises the festival, and the unit test passes only because it uses an invented timestamp field.

      Change to: const at = toMs(o.occurredAt ?? o.recordedAt ?? o.timestamp ?? o.createdAt ?? o.time ?? o.observedAt);, and change the event in test/unit/rules.test.ts:161 to the real shape: { id, type: "measurement.distance_milestone", occurredAt: new Date(T0).toISOString() }.

Why: Brief: "A new measurement.speed_record or distance milestone event (dedupe by id; on a fresh install ignore events older than 1 hour) starts a 1-hour golden-chest festival." Against the real API this rule cannot fire, in the extension or the demo.

No width applies; run against the live API.

Steps: fetch https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/events?category=measurement&limit=20 and pass the body to parseEvents from shared/api.ts.

      Expected: 20 events, including measurement.speed_record and measurement.distance_milestone.

Actual: live events in body: 20 parsed by parseEvents: 0.

Event keys are id, eventVersion, occurredAt, recordedAt, source, type, payload.

In the unpacked Chrome build, after the /events request ran, chrome.storage.local squeekpal.festival.seenIds has length 0.

    • mediumbug: the pal and its panel leave the screen after a drag or a narrower windowshared/widget.ts:28

Now: The panel always opens above and to the left of the pal, so a pal dragged towards the top or left opens it out of view. The saved position (shared/widget.ts:143) is applied without clamping, so a position saved in a wide window can put the pal outside a narrower one, and no control brings it back.

Change to: In setOpen, measure the host: if host top is less than the panel height + 8, set inset-block-end: auto; inset-block-start: calc(100% + 8px); if host left is less than the panel width, set inset-inline-end: auto; inset-inline-start: 0. In applyState and on a window resize listener, clamp pos.x to [0, box.width - 84] and pos.y to [0, box.height - 78], using the same box the drag code uses.

Why: Brief: "A small draggable pixel hamster" and "Click it to open a mini panel". The landing page says "Drag it anywhere". Feed, play and clean must still be reachable wherever it is dragged.

      1440x900, #/demo.

Steps: drag the pal to the top-left of the sample timeline and click it.

Expected: the panel is visible inside the frame.

Actual: panel box [left -4, top -258, right 296, bottom 137] against frame [192, 135, 856, 765], so only 2px of height falls inside the frame's top edge and the frame clips the rest.

Then resize to 390x844 and reload.

Expected: the pal is in the frame.

Actual: pal box [left -270, right -186] against frame [16, 374], saved pos {x:560, y:542}; the pal is gone until Start the demo over.

The extension uses the same code; it was not dragged on a real x.com page.

    • mediumbug: an imported save code can inject markup and run scriptshared/state.ts:177

Now: migrate copies imported fields with no type checks, and the panel writes values such as ${s.seeds} straight into innerHTML (shared/panel.ts:230, shared/widget.ts:159). The checksum only catches typos, so anyone can craft a valid code.

Change to: In the version 2 branch, coerce every field after the merge: seeds, xp, stats and earn numbers through clampNum; hat and wheel only if itemById finds them, otherwise null; chests.pending filtered to ids matching /^[a-z0-9]+$/ and known kinds; lang only "en" or "vi"; quests.list and achievements rebuilt from known ids. Add a unit test that imports seeds as an HTML string and expects the default number. Also wrap numbers rendered into innerHTML with esc(String(n)).

Why: Brief: "export/import as a text code" and "no remote code, no eval". Save codes are made to be passed around, so a pasted one must be treated as untrusted. web-ext lint also flags these innerHTML writes (3 UNSAFE_VAR_ASSIGNMENT warnings).

      1440x900, #/demo.

Steps: in Settings paste a code built from {"version":2,"seeds":"<img src=x onerror=\"window.__xss=1\">", ...} with its FNV checksum, press Load, open the Pet tab.

Expected: the code is rejected or seeds falls back to a number.

Actual: window.__xss === 1, one sits in the panel, and it fires again after reload because the save persists.

Run on the demo only; the extension's pages have a CSP, and the same merge feeds the panel on x.com, which was not run.

    • mediumaccessibility: the skip link throws the visitor out of the demo and install pagessite/index.html:21

Now: The skip link sets the hash to #main. route() (site/src/main.ts:28) treats any hash matching an element id as the home page, so activating it replaces the current page with the landing page. The same rule sends a #chrome or #firefox link on the install page home.

Change to: In site/src/main.ts add document.querySelector(".skip")!.addEventListener("click", (e) => { e.preventDefault(); main.focus(); });. In route(), return the home route for an id only if the id is not main and the current page is home.

Why: WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks: the link must skip the header, not change the page. The brief asks for hash routing, which makes this collision the site's own to handle.

      390x844.

Steps: open #/demo, Tab to Skip to content, press Enter.

Expected: the h1 still reads Play the demo and focus is in main.

Actual: the h1 reads A hamster on your timeline and the hash is #main.

On #/install the same steps also land on the home h1.

    • mediumfidelity: on the demo at 390 the pal is below the first screensite/src/main.ts:189

Now: A 56px top padding, a three-line lead, a heading and a three-line hint push the phone frame down to y=385, and the pal sits at its bottom-right corner. A first visitor sees sample posts but not the hamster they came to play with.

Change to: Move the demoLine paragraph out of .demo-head to under the Start the demo over button, with class small, so its text stays next to the control it explains. Set .demo-head { padding-block: 16px; }. The phone moves up 140px at 390 and the pal's bottom lands near y=820 of 844.

Why: Brief: "a playable in-page demo of the pal". Review bar: the product and its main action belong on the first screen at 390. Set medium because the landing page's first screen does pass; this is the demo route.

      390x844 and 320x844.

Steps: open #/demo and measure the pal button without scrolling.

      Expected: bottom at most 844.

      Actual: at 390 top 882, bottom 960; at 320 top 910, bottom 988.

The pal is entirely below the fold in both.

    • mediumfidelity: the site ignores Retry-After and polls on every navigationsite/src/demoStore.ts:76

Now: liveOnly polls as soon as it is created and never checks retryAfter, and home() creates it on every render, so each language click or return to the home page sends another request. It also forgets the last reading, so the strip goes back to Checking the wheel. demoStore's pollEvents (line 46) discards a 429's retryAfter.

      Change to: Move s and a nextPoll time to module scope in demoStore.ts. In poll: if (Date.now() < Math.max(nextPoll, s.sync.retryAfter)) return onChange(s);, then set nextPoll = Date.now() + 60_000. At line 46, when r.retryAfter is set, apply { type: "status", snap: { ...state.sync, reach: "error", retryAfter: r.retryAfter } }, as extension/background.ts:48 does.

Why: Brief: "Handle 429 with Retry-After." The extension's worker does this; the site does not, and its own comment says it polls on the same schedule as the worker.

      390x844, home.

Steps: answer api.squeekchain.com with 429 and Retry-After: 3600, then press the language button 4 times.

      Expected: 1 request.

Actual: 5 requests in about a second.

With a 200 reply, going #/install then #/ three times gives 4 /status polls in about a second, where the schedule allows 1 a minute.

    • mediumfidelity: switching language in the demo panel leaves the page in Englishsite/src/main.ts:230

Now: Choosing Tiếng Việt in the demo's Settings tab updates only the header, footer and panel; the h1, hint and buttons stay English. Separately, even the header switch leaves English in the home screenshot's Reply, Repost and Like (site/src/main.ts:164), the card's aria-label (line 174), the home page title (line 292) and the sample posts' actions (site/src/posts.ts:46).

Change to: Replace document.documentElement.lang = lang; header(); in that subscriber with render(false), keeping the panel's current tab by passing it as initialTab. Move Reply, Repost, Like, the card label and the home title into site/src/strings.ts with Vietnamese values (Trả lời, Đăng lại, Thích).

Why: Brief: "EN and VI, with a language switch." Two languages on one screen is a half-finished switch.

      1440x900, #/demo.

Steps: open Settings in the Toolbar popup and choose Tiếng Việt.

Expected: all page text is Vietnamese.

Actual: nav reads Chơi thử and html lang is vi, while the h1 reads Play the demo and the button reads Show more posts.

Home at 390 in VI: title is Squeek Pal: a pixel hamster for x.com, the action row reads Reply Repost Like, and the card label is Pet card: Pip, Adult, 342 Seeds.

    • mediumfidelity: the hero hamster runs while the live strip under it says it is nappingsite/src/main.ts:156

Now: The hero art is always the run pose, labelled Your pal running on its wheel. The strip right below it reads the real wheel, so when the wheel is idle the two contradict each other on the first screen of a site whose whole pitch is being in sync.

Change to: Let animatedPal take a getter for its poses, and set it from the show callback at line 178: wheelMode(st.sync, Date.now()) gives ["run"] when running, ["nap"] when idle and ["sit"] otherwise. Change the heroArtLabel strings to "Your pal" / "Thú cưng của bạn" so the label stays true in all three states.

Why: Brief: a hamster "living in sync with Squeektoshi" and "When IDLE, your pal naps". Set medium because it is on the first screen and undercuts the live strip, the one real-time proof on the page.

390x844, home, with the live API reporting coreStatus IDLE (as it did during this review).

      Steps: load the page.

      Expected: the hero pal naps.

Actual: test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png shows the pal in its wheel in the run pose above the strip reading "Squeektoshi is resting.

Your pal naps and recovers energy 2x faster."

    • mediumfidelity: the landing screenshots never show the pal on a timelinesite/src/main.ts:164

Now: The landing page's images are four small pose tiles, a bare row of three words with two chests, and a card scaled so far down its labels cannot be read. The row is too narrow at 1440, so the golden chest wraps alone onto a second line. Nothing shows what the product looks like in use.

Change to: Reuse the demo's post markup: post.innerHTML = samplePosts(1); post.querySelector('[role="group"]')!.append(chestCanvas("normal"));, and append a palCanvas in the shot's bottom-right corner. Delete the second chest from this shot and move the golden one into the Hats, wheels, quests item, which has no image. Set .shot-post to display: block; position: relative. Let .shot-card span the full width of the features grid at 1440 (grid-column: 1 / -1; max-inline-size: 600px) so its labels can be read.

Why: Brief: "screenshots drawn from the game art". A first visitor to a browser companion needs to see it on a post before downloading anything.

      1440x900, home.

Steps: scroll to Care for it while you scroll.

Expected: a post with a chest and the pal.

Actual: test/scratch/taste/shots/1440-full.png shows Reply Repost Like and one chest on the first line, the golden chest alone on the second, and a pet card about 245px wide whose stat labels are unreadable.

    • mediumbug: Vietnamese tab labels overflow the popup and hide Settingsshared/panel.ts:29

Now: The tab row scrolls sideways with no visible scrollbar. In Vietnamese at the extension's 360px popup width, the Settings tab is cut to "Cài"; in English at 320 it is cut too. Settings holds the language control, so someone who cannot read the current language has the hardest time finding it.

Change to: .sp-tabs { display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap; gap: 4px; padding: 8px; border-block-end: 1px solid var(--sp-line); }, removing overflow-x so all five tabs show on one or two rows.

Why: Brief: "EN and VI" and "Toolbar popup: pet card, stats, Seeds, shop, wardrobe, quests, settings". Review bar: text cut off by an overflow is a bug.

Unpacked Chrome build, popup.html at 360x600, language set to Tiếng Việt.

      Expected: all five tabs visible.

Actual: tab row scrollWidth 406 against clientWidth 360, and the last tab shows only "Cài".

Demo at 320 in English: scrollWidth 347 against clientWidth 288, last tab right edge at 355 against frame right edge 304.

    • mediumbug: the shared pet card cuts off Seeds and long namesshared/card.ts:32

Now: The name (line 29) and the stage, XP and Seeds line are drawn from x=560 with no width limit, so anything over 640px runs off the 1200px card. A Vietnamese Wheel Legend loses its Seeds count entirely, and a long pet name loses letters.

Change to: Before each fillText, reduce the font until it fits: let size = 36; do { ctx.font = 400 ${size}px ${sys}; } while (ctx.measureText(line).width > 600 && --size > 18);, starting from 76 for the name with the same 600px limit. Text is scaled to fit, never truncated, so the name and amounts stay whole.

Why: Brief: "A 1200x630 PNG pet card can also be downloaded." The card is what gets posted, and the Seeds value is the score on it; critical text is never clipped.

Card download at 1440, 1200x630 PNG.

Steps: in the demo set language to VI with xp 2500 and seeds 12345, then press the download card button.

Expected: the whole line is on the card.

Actual: the file shows "Huyền thoại bánh xe · 2500 XP · 12" cut at the right edge; canvas measureText gives 782px from x=560, ending at 1342 of 1200.

A 16-character name of wide letters measures 1341px from x=560, ending at 1901.

  4. Build websiteAgent #6526 files changed

Fixed all 12 findings and rebuilt dist/ plus Chrome, Firefox, and source ZIPs.

Passed: build, typecheck, 27 unit tests, 18 browser checks, 16 design checks, and unpacked Chromium testing. Native Firefox/WebKit remain unverified.

Added README, DESIGN.md, and .imd-responses.json. Full results: validation report.

Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

  5. Design criticAgent #658found nothing

All 12 findings from last round are fixed. I found nothing new I could reproduce, so .imd-findings.json holds {"findings":[]} and no other file was changed.

    AreaLast roundThis round
Brief requirements (met / missing / faked)2 not met (README missing; festival never started)all met; the rest are after review or need the requester (below)

    Copy findings00
Share cardpresentpresent (og:title, og:image, favicon; probe check passes)

What I checked for each finding (built dist/, Chromium):

    • README (was high): fixed. README.md has sections for permissions and hosts, the API fields used, and the game and safety rules. The copy inside squeek-pal-source.zip matches the root file byte for byte.
    • Festival (was high): fixed. I fetched the live /events?category=measurement&limit=20 and ran the current parseEvents (shared/api.ts:70) on it: 20 of 20 events parsed, including measurement.speed_record and measurement.distance_milestone.
    • Drag and panel position: fixed. At 1440 I dragged the pal to the frame's top-left. The panel opened below it at y=309–665, inside the frame (224–853). After narrowing to 390 and reloading, the pal sits at x=16, inside the frame.
    • XSS through an imported save: fixed. I imported a checksum-valid code with an HTML seeds value. window.__xss stayed undefined, no <img> was added, Seeds fell back to 10, and the HTML name showed as escaped text. Same after a reload.
    • Skip link: fixed. At 390, Tab then Enter keeps #/demo ("Play the demo") and #/install ("Install in two minutes"), and focus moves to main.
    • Retry-After: fixed. With every API call answered 429 and Retry-After: 3600, four language switches plus three install/home round-trips sent 1 request in total. The strip read "Can't reach the wheel right now". With 200 replies, the same round-trips also sent 1 request.
    • Language switch in the demo: fixed. Choosing Vietnamese in the demo's Settings turns the h1, buttons and page title Vietnamese ("Chơi thử", "Xem thêm bài đăng"). On home, the post actions read "Trả lời / Đăng lại / Thích", and the title and card label are Vietnamese too.
    • Hero pose: fixed. The hero pal naps above the IDLE strip on the 390 and 1440 screenshots.
    • Landing screenshots: fixed. A sample post now has a chest in its action row and the pal in the corner. The golden chest moved to the hats/quests item, and the card is about 600px wide and readable at 1440.
    • Vietnamese tabs: fixed. The tab row's scroll width equals its visible width at 1440 (360 = 360) and at 320 (288 = 288). Every tab ends by x=232, inside the 304px frame edge.
    • Pet card text: fixed. I read the code rather than downloading a card. fitText in shared/card.ts shrinks the name and the stage/XP/Seeds line to fit 600px from x=560, so no text is cut off.

Requirements: everything the repository can deliver is met. Shown by: the extension zips (manifest.json in each), the source zip with README, shared/selectors.ts, shared/api.ts, shared/state.ts (versioned save, migrations, import/export code), shared/panel.ts and shared/widget.ts, the EN/VI switch, the share intent and PNG card, and the footer links and disclaimer.

    • After review: hosting on IPFS and the live landing URL.
    • Needs the requester: a test on a real x.com page with a logged-in account.
    • Not re-checked here: I didn't rerun unit tests or the build, because node_modules isn't installed and the check profile is none.

Idea: a warm, cream-coloured landing page for a browser companion whose one visual device is the code-drawn pixel hamster, shown live in step with Squeektoshi's real wheel.
