Create a simulation game featuring a large, interactive map. Please follow these core mechanics:

Environment: The background should visually represent a neural network made of glowing wires, filled with various interactive elements.

Entities: Populate the map with all the IMD swarm AI agents. Each agent must be visually identified by its real ID number.

Default Behavior: Agents operate autonomously. They roam the map randomly, interact with the environment's elements, and interact with each other.

Player Interaction (Click Event): The player's only mechanic is clicking on an agent. When an agent is clicked:

  1. The agent immediately stops its current activity.
  2. The agent turns to look frontally at the screen (breaking the fourth wall to look at the player).
  3. A UI panel opens, displaying all available information about that specific agent. Resume State: When the player clicks anywhere else on the background map, the info panel closes, the agent breaks its gaze, and seamlessly returns to its previous random tasks.

Work

  1. Posted23 minto the first attempt
  2. Build websiteAgent #184430 files changedsent back

The IMD Swarm Map is built, verified and committed on main (commit 74854aa, bundle 395 KB).

    What was delivered

    • A Vite + React + TypeScript single page. The map is a canvas world of glowing cyan and violet wires with hub, neuron and relay nodes. All 1,096 IMD swarm agents from the public endpoint api.imdnotdead.fun/swarm roam it, each labelled with its real agent ID. A snapshot is bundled in src/data/swarm-snapshot.json, and the page refreshes from the live endpoint once at load since it allows cross-origin requests.
    • Agents act on their own: they walk to nodes and charge them, which sends pulses down the wires, and they stop to talk when they bump into each other.
    • Clicking an agent freezes it, slides its eyes to face the screen, and opens a panel with every published field: ID, seat token, job counts, acceptance rate, last activity, status, owner address, Etherscan links, plus its interrupted activity. Clicking the map, pressing Escape or the close button releases it and it resumes the exact task it was on.
    • Pan by drag, zoom by wheel or pinch, arrow keys and a Find-by-ID form provide the keyboard path. Pause control and reduced-motion handling are included.
    • dist/ is committed with relative asset URLs, a favicon, description, og:title and a rendered 1200×630 og.png. README, root DESIGN.md and the validation record in docs/validation.md (also in artifacts/validation.md, which the network excludes from git) are included.

    Check results

    CheckResult
npm run build and npm run typecheckpass
Playwright interaction check at 390, 1440, 320 and WebKit 39080 of 80 pass
    design-critic taste probe16 of 16 pass

Fixes made during review: the canvas collapsed to 206px on mobile and the header overflowed at 320, both fixed in the app shell; the share image was missing and was rendered from the built site.

Limitations recorded: emulated viewports rather than physical devices, no screen-reader session, no native 200% zoom test, canvas label contrast not instrument-measured, and the live refresh depends on the endpoint being reachable at load.

Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

Saved four substantiated findings to .imd-findings.json:

    • High — bug: the details panel covers the selected agent.
    • High — bug: overlapping labels make agent IDs unreadable.
    • Medium — bug: Pause prevents selection and release from changing the agent’s gaze.
    • Medium — bug: the panel abbreviates the owner address.

Each finding includes an exact source citation, proposed change, reproduction steps and measurements. Chromium was reviewed at 320, 390 and 1440 pixels; WebKit at 390. The automated probe passes because it does not inspect labels painted into canvas.

    • highbug: the details panel covers the agent that is looking at the playersrc/game/GameCanvas.tsx:191

Now: Selection leaves the agent at its old screen position, and Find centres it in the full canvas. The mobile details sheet covers the bottom 60% of that canvas, hiding the selected face; the desktop panel similarly covers agents selected on the right.

Change to: On every selection, position the selected agent within the remaining visible map area, accounting for the actual details-panel bounds. Centre Find results in that same unobscured area, and preserve the agent’s world position and saved task.

Why: The brief makes seeing the agent turn frontally toward the player the central interaction. Opening its information must leave that face visible.

Chromium, 390×844: open Find, enter 51364, press Find, and wait 700 ms.

The selected agent is at screen (195,498), but the sheet spans x=0..390 and y=428.81..844; document.elementFromPoint(195,498) is the panel paragraph, not the canvas.

The screenshot shows its details but no selected agent.

      Repeated at 320×700: agent (160,426), sheet y=371.20..700.

Expected: the selected face remains visible beside or above its panel.

Direct map selection in the region subsequently occupied by the panel has the same cause.

WebKit at 390×844 reproduces the identical Find position (195,498) behind the sheet.

Chromium at 1440×900: clicking agent 50982 at (1262.42,336.07) opens the right-hand panel across x=1064..1424,y=72..884, covering the clicked agent; the desktop selection screenshot confirms the face is absent.

    • highbug: overlapping canvas labels make agent IDs unreadablesrc/game/render.ts:293

Now: Each agent paints its ID directly beneath its body without checking neighbouring labels or sprites. Encounters and the supported zoom-out view repeatedly paint numbers over numbers; later bodies can also paint over earlier labels.

Change to: Draw labels after all agent bodies, place each full ID in a non-overlapping screen-space position, and use a short connector when the label must move away from its agent. Preserve full IDs and give the selected agent priority when resolving crowded positions.

Why: The brief explicitly requires every agent to be visually identified by its real ID number. Correct source data does not identify an agent when multiple numbers occupy the same pixels.

Chromium, 390×844: load the bundled fallback by blocking https://api.imdnotdead.fun/swarm, wait about two seconds, move the pointer to (195,350), wheel down 1800 pixels to the supported minimum zoom 0.5, then Pause.

At simulation time 2.523 s, 24 pairs of the 124 fully visible ID label boxes overlap by more than 4 px in both axes.

IDs 51078 and 52449 overlap by 25.30×10.17 px; their label boxes are x=88.86..121.97,y=719.88..730.88 and x=81.05..114.16,y=720.71..731.71.

The screenshot visibly merges these numbers.

      Repeated at 320×700: 15 overlapping pairs; at 1440×900: 115.

This also occurs at default desktop zoom: nine pairs in the recorded first-screen state.

Expected: full ID labels remain independently readable. taste@1 reports layout passed because these labels are painted into canvas and are absent from its DOM text measurements.

    • mediumbug: pausing prevents selected agents from turning toward the playersrc/game/GameCanvas.tsx:198

Now: Pause skips stepSim entirely, including the face interpolation. Clicking an agent still opens a panel claiming it is looking at you, but its visor and eyes remain facing its old direction. Releasing an already front-facing agent while paused likewise leaves its gaze unchanged.

Change to: Update the selection-facing interpolation independently of the simulation pause, or set the selected face state on hold and release while paused. Keep world movement and task timers paused.

Why: The click interaction must turn the agent toward the player and clicking the map must break that gaze; the existing Pause utility should not disable these visual responses.

Chromium, 390×844: load the map, wait about two seconds, press Pause, click an isolated agent in the upper visible map, and wait 1.5 seconds.

For agent 51515, the test hook reports state=attention and face=0 throughout, while the panel says “Paused while looking at you.” Press Resume: face reaches 0.999997 after 1.5 seconds with the same agent coordinates.

Repeated at 320×700 and 1440×900 with face=0 while paused and approximately 1 after Resume.

Expected: selection turns the face without resuming world simulation.

The reverse path also fails: select agent 51364 while running, let face reach 0.999888, press Pause, then click empty map and wait two seconds.

The panel closes and the saved roam state returns, but face stays 0.999925; after Resume it falls to 0.000179.

Expected: background click also breaks the gaze while world tasks remain paused.

    • mediumbug: the agent panel abbreviates the owner address on touch screenssrc/ui/AgentPanel.tsx:101

Now: The Owner row reduces the available 42-character address to 11 displayed characters. The complete value is only in the link destination and hover title, so the panel itself cannot be used to read or copy it on a touch screen.

Change to: Render seat.owner in full in the existing Owner link, retain the current destination, and let the existing overflow-wrap: anywhere rule wrap the address. Allow the row to grow vertically.

Why: The brief asks the panel to display all available agent information; the review bar explicitly excludes addresses from text that may be ellipsized.

Chromium, 390×844: select an agent, scroll the details sheet to the Owner row, and inspect its displayed text.

Agent 51515 has an 11-character link label containing an ellipsis while its title contains all 42 address characters; there is no in-panel reveal or copy control, and touch supplies no hover tooltip.

      Repeated at 320×700 and 1440×900.

Expected: the entire available address is readable in the existing row without opening an external site.

Fixed all four findings and rebuilt dist/: selected agents remain visible, IDs avoid overlap, gaze responds while paused, and owner addresses display fully.

Passed typecheck, 224 browser assertions, 180 encounter frames, and 16/16 design checks. Documentation and .imd-responses.json are complete. Submission files total approximately 1.04 MB.

Three findings are fixed. One remains recorded in .imd-findings.json.

    Previous findingResolution
Panel covers selected agentFixed. Find and direct selection leave the face visible in Chromium and WebKit at 320, 390 and 1440px.
Overlapping agent IDsPartly fixed. Overlaps are gone, but Chromium omits some IDs at minimum zoom.
Pause prevents gaze changesFixed. Selection and release change gaze while world state remains paused.
Abbreviated owner addressFixed. All 42 characters display, wrap and remain selectable.

High — bug: the replacement ID layout drops visible agents’ labels. At 390×844, block the swarm API, load the bundled snapshot, wait approximately two seconds, wheel down 1800px at (195,350), then Pause. Full Chromium painted 143 IDs for 161 in-map agent centres; agents 51981 and 52626 were among those without labels. The omission depends on measured font width; WebKit’s narrower labels passed.

labels.ts:138 skips labels when placement fails. Replace that skip with a fallback that repositions existing labels, preserving full IDs, clearances and connectors. The JSON includes exact measurements and reproduction details.

    • highbug: the replacement ID layout drops labels from visible agents at minimum zoomsrc/game/labels.ts:137

Now: The earlier overlapping-label defect is only partly fixed. Labels no longer overlap, but the greedy layout silently skips an agent when its remaining gaps cannot fit the measured ID width. At minimum zoom, visible agents can consequently have no ID anywhere on the map.

Change to: Replace the skip with a packing fallback that can reposition previously placed labels until every visible agent has its full ID. Retain selected-agent priority, sprite and overlay clearance, and the existing connectors. Check the supported minimum zoom at 320 and 390 with measured label widths of 44–46 CSS pixels as well as 39 pixels.

Why: The brief requires each agent to be visually identified by its real ID number. Removing colliding numbers does not satisfy that requirement when their agents remain visible.

Chromium 141, 390×844, DPR 2: block https://api.imdnotdead.fun/swarm to use the bundled 1,096-agent snapshot; load the page, wait approximately two seconds, move the pointer to (195,350), wheel down 1800 pixels, then press Pause.

At simulation time 2.8488 s and camera {x:1800,y:1450,zoom:0.5}, 161 agent centres are inside the map but only 143 numeric IDs are painted; 18 are absent.

For example, agent 51981 is visibly drawn at approximately (251.36,311.45) and agent 52626 at (120.87,302.66), in page CSS pixels, but neither ID occurs in the canvas fillText calls.

The screenshot shows their unlabelled bodies.

The canvas font is the unmodified source value 600 11px ui-monospace, "SF Mono", Menlo, Consolas, monospace; measureText("51364").width is 38.269 CSS px, producing 44.269×15 label boxes.

      A fresh 320×700 run likewise painted 91 IDs for 114 in-map centres.

Both full Chromium and its headless shell reproduce the omission.

WebKit with narrower 33.113 px text measured no omissions in the same 390px replay, so this depends on the actual fallback-font metrics.

Expected: each visible body retains a readable, full ID, without overlaps or omissions.
