Write the style pack of the "chog" station of Intelligent Dance Market: exactly one new file, packages/synth/src/stations/chog.ts. Change nothing else in the repository.

Read first: packages/synth/src/stations/README.md (the brief: contract, sound fields, taste, gate), packages/synth/src/stations/example.ts (the reference pack: copy its shape), packages/synth/src/styledata.ts (every field and its range), packages/synth/src/pack.ts (validatePack) and the house tables and SOUND_DEFAULTS at the end of packages/synth/src/engine.ts.

The pack:

  • export default { key: "chog", name, genres: ["liquid", "futuregarage", "triphop", "lofihouse", "electro"], styles, patches? } satisfies StationPack; the only import is import type { StationPack } from "../pack.ts".
  • genres in this order: liquid, futuregarage, triphop, lofihouse, electro. 2 styles per genre, ids prefixed "chog-", each on a base the README table lists for its genre.
  • Data only: one object literal. No functions, loops, computed values, randomness or other imports. No engine edits.

The owner's vibe: "High-energy, mischievous, and slightly hyper — like a kid causing trouble and loving it. Fun, meme-y, bouncy synths, occasional glitches, and a whimsical melody. Chaotic-good hyperpop/electronic: bright, unhinged, but endearing and optimistic."

Taste:

  • Keep each genre recognisable (liquid: a fast rolling break with a deep sub; futuregarage: skippy 2-step drums, a sub and airy chords; triphop: slow and heavy, a dusty break; lofihouse: a dusty four-to-the-floor house groove; electro: a syncopated 808 break, never four-to-the-floor, and a machine bass line). Change the producer, not the genre.
  • One idea per style, committed; contrast the styles with each other and with the house. Use the sound fields (kit, bass, the genre's voices: pad/strings/voice/bassTone/stabTone/hoover..., fx, mix, vinyl, the pack's own lead patches), not only notes and rhythm.
  • Avoid harshness: hats under ~0.6 level, snare noise q under ~2, never resonance and drive both at the top of their ranges, fx.master.crush under 8 bits only on purpose.
  • One thing owns the sub. Send snares, leads, pads and percussion to the echo and the room, not the kick and the bass.

The gate (it must pass before you finish):

npm ci && npx playwright install chromium

node web/scripts/station-check-pack.mjs chog --diff 1bd0c4554dc3e37ea1d2d91f30bfa79f37a57788

It must end with "PASS: the pack is ready for the owner to listen". Too quiet or too loud: change that style's trim by the dB difference (trim *= 10 ** (dB / 20)) and run it again.

Deliver only packages/synth/src/stations/chog.ts; the WAVs under sim/ are gitignored, do not commit them.

Work

  2. Refine projectAgent #16461 file changed

The gate has still not passed. The first full run finished: the checks passed, the pack validates, and every clip rendered deterministically with no silence. But 7 of the 10 styles failed on loudness. I changed their trims, and my re-run to confirm them was cut off by the 10-minute command limit, so they are untested.

    First full run:

    • PASS: types compile, house history unchanged, only packages/synth/src/stations/chog.ts changed, pack validates.
    • PASS loudness: Sugar Rush (-14.77), Past Bedtime (-14.95), Meme Tape (-14.49). Target is -14.3 ±1 dBFS.
    • FAIL loudness: the other seven. Six were too quiet; Hyper Alien was too loud at -11.59.

What I changed after that run, all in chog.ts:

    stylemeasurednew trim
    Zoomies-15.631.07
    Giggle Chops-15.381.11
    Sneaky Steps-16.741.23
    Slow-mo Wonder-18.431.55
    Bouncy Castle-16.401.2, plus mix.kick: -1.5
    Toy Robot-15.821.16
    Hyper Alien-11.590.73

For several of the quiet styles I couldn't apply the full correction the brief's formula gives. Their peaks were already near the -0.5 dBFS ceiling, so the full boost would have broken the peak check. I chose trims that should land just inside the ±1 dB window while keeping the peak below the ceiling.

Bouncy Castle couldn't fit between the two limits at all, so I also turned its kick bus down 1.5 dB. That one is my least certain change: the loudest peak may not be the kick.

Gate setup on this machine: I added rollup's missing Linux binary with npm i --no-save, and pointed Chromium at system libraries I unpacked under /tmp/chogroot. Neither touches the repository; git status shows only the new file. The WAVs under sim/ are gitignored.

Still to do: run the gate once more with nothing cutting it short (a full run takes over 10 minutes here):

    node web/scripts/station-check-pack.mjs chog --diff 1bd0c4554dc3e37ea1d2d91f30bfa79f37a57788

If a style still fails as too quiet and its peak is already near -0.5 dBFS, raising its trim won't fix it. Turn down its loudest bus in mix first (the kick, most likely), then raise the trim.
