I have updated the main branch of: https://github.com/vinhphamdev/squeek-life

The missing Vulcan error reporter dependency has been removed

from frontend/vite.config.ts.

Please fetch the latest main branch and retry the deployment.

Run from the repository root: npm run build

The build uses BASE_PATH=/ and copies frontend/dist/client/

into the root dist/ directory. The required output is:

dist/index.html

The build configuration changes are authorized.

Do not change gameplay, UI, artwork, audio, or game source.

Preserve the existing squeekchain-project meta tag.

Deploy the static frontend only; the optional backend may stay offline.

Please return the public HTTPS URL after deployment.

    Failed on the agent's machine.

required outputs are missing or invalid: dist/index.html: missing — this skill promises it in the delivered tree

the agent stopped (completed, 51 turns); its last message: er, so I didn't write .imd-blocked.json. Restarting the seat should clear it, as the error suggests.

    What I left alone

    • No stand-in page: I didn't hand-write a dist/index.html. It would pass the path check but contain no game.
    • No workaround: I didn't use the browser tool's code runner to run the build, because that would sidestep a sandbox that's required here.
    • No file changes: the tree is exactly as I found it. A partial edit wouldn't survive anyway, since each attempt starts from a clean checkout.

What I confirmed by reading files

    • This checkout is out of date: frontend/vite.config.ts still imports .vulcan-error-reporter.js, and the root build script is the older version.
    • The requester's fix is real: on GitHub main, frontend/vite.config.ts no longer has the import or the viteErrorReporter call. Its plugins are now just react() and tailwindcss().
    • The meta tag is present here: the squeekchain-project tag is in this checkout's frontend/index.html. I didn't check that file on main.

Problems the next attempt has to handle

    1. Asset paths: main's build script uses BASE_PATH=/, as the requester asked, but that produces absolute asset URLs. The acceptance criteria need relative URLs for hosting at an IPFS gateway subpath, where absolute ones would likely fail to load. frontend/index.html also hardcodes /favicon.ico.
    2. Protected package.json: the task rules reject any change to it, but updating to main changes the root package.json. The requester authorized build changes, while the rules say they override everything else, so this needs resolving before the update is taken.
    3. dist/ is ignored: .gitignore lists dist/ here and on main, so the build output won't be committed until that line is removed. Changing an ignore file needs an explicit path budget.
    4. Page metadata: the title in this checkout is just App, with no description, og:title or og:image, which the criteria require. "Do not change UI" shouldn't rule out adding these to the page head, but that needs confirming.
    5. Dependencies: @surf-ai/theme is set to latest and I found no package-lock.json in what I saw of the tree, only bun.lock. The build's npm install may therefore create a new lockfile, which the same protection rule could reject.

The rest of the acceptance criteria also weren't started: typecheck, interaction checks, the design probe, DESIGN.md and the README updates.

    Explicit requirementStatus and evidence
“Fetch the latest main branch”Met: verified public main 73a22ca; all 72 game source files match. Upstream repository
“Vulcan error reporter dependency has been removed”Met: absent from frontend/vite.config.ts.
“Run from the repository root: npm run build”Met, recorded: successful builder run documented in artifacts/validation.md; not rebuilt during this read-only review.
“BASE_PATH=/”Missing: root script uses ./; frontend/vite.config.ts:11 also overrides / during production builds.
“Copies frontend/dist/client/ into … dist/”Met: root build script performs the copy; all 48 delivered files match the export manifest.
“Required output … dist/index.html”Met: file present with referenced assets.
“Build configuration changes are authorized”Met: Vite changes remain within build configuration.
“Do not change gameplay, UI, artwork, audio, or game source”Met: game source matches upstream byte-for-byte; existing body markup retained.
“Preserve … squeekchain-project meta tag”Met: exact project ID retained in source and exported HTML.
“Retry the deployment … static frontend only”After review: static export ready; publication belongs to the deployment stage.
“Optional backend may stay offline”Met: static-only operation documented; offline messaging defects reported separately.
“Return the public HTTPS URL”After review: no newly deployed URL available from this review.
Earlier brief: “No environment variables and no secrets”Met, recorded: standalone gameplay checks documented.
Earlier brief: “No analytics, no tracking, no new dependencies”Met: no additions found in the submission comparison.

The high finding concerns the explicitly requested build base. The six medium findings cover the badge blocking Menu, overlapping mobile HUD, unnamed buttons, low-contrast captions, misleading autosave promise and misleading leaderboard failure state.

Browser launches failed during this review. Visual and interaction findings therefore identify their supplied screenshot/test evidence explicitly; fresh checks verified source integrity, export hashes, metadata, configuration behavior and contrast calculations.

“Do not change … UI … or game source” overrides aesthetic restyling checks. Corrections to inherited UI defects require separate authorization. No site files were changed.

Squeek Life is a pixel-art life simulator carried by its animated city and purple-and-gold game interface.

    • highfidelity: production builds override the explicitly requested BASE_PATH=/frontend/vite.config.ts:11

Now: The root build script still sets BASE_PATH=./, and the production Vite branch unconditionally returns ./ even when BASE_PATH=/ is supplied. The latest upstream main uses BASE_PATH=/ in its root build script.

Change to: Apply the upstream root build script with BASE_PATH=/ and restore const base = process.env.BASE_PATH || './' in Vite; rebuild dist with the root npm run build command.

Why: The brief explicitly specifies BASE_PATH=/ and fetching latest main, and authorizes build configuration changes. Relative URLs happen to load at the root but do not fulfill that explicit configuration requirement.

      Viewport: 390x844 or 1440x900; this is viewport-independent.

Compare package.json scripts.build with upstream commit 73a22ca2f54ad545d57540b7060286c91f4f0a1b: local sets BASE_PATH=./, upstream sets BASE_PATH=/.

In frontend/vite.config.ts evaluate the line-11 expression with command="build" and process.env.BASE_PATH="/": actual base is "./", expected "/".

Confirm the delivered dist/index.html module and stylesheet URLs begin ./assets/.

No browser failure is claimed; this is a reproducible mismatch against the requested build configuration.

    • mediumbug: the fixed Surf badge intercepts the Menu button and covers entry copyfrontend/index.html:42

Now: The fixed badge occupies the same bottom-right area as Menu, with z-index 2147483647 above the game. It also covers the progress caption on the 390px entry screen.

Change to: In a requester-authorized UI correction, remove the #surf-badge anchor and its dedicated styles. It is a fixed overlay, so removing it leaves no flow gap and exposes the existing Menu and caption without moving game controls.

Why: A visible exit control must receive pointer input. This is an inherited defect, not permission to override the brief's UI freeze.

      Viewport: 1200x630.

Serve dist statically, select New game, press E three times to dismiss the introduction, then click the centre of Menu.

Expected: return to the start screen.

Supplied artifacts/interaction-results.json records a 5000ms locator.click timeout with the #surf-badge SVG intercepting pointer events; keyboard activation succeeds.

At 390x844 the supplied game screenshot and accessibility rectangles put Menu at x299,y798,w79,h34; its centre (338.5,815) lies in the fixed badge.

The supplied taste@1 layout output also identifies #surf-badge covering "Progress saves automatically" at 390.

These supplied screenshots were inspected and all 48 export hashes verified; fresh browser execution was unavailable in this review.

    • mediumbug: mobile navigation covers the energy meterfrontend/src/components/game/Hud.tsx:211

Now: The left resource group and right navigation group are both absolutely positioned at top-3. At phone width the six navigation buttons paint over the energy bar and its value.

Change to: In a requester-authorized UI correction, replace the independent mobile top-3 anchors with vertically stacked resource and navigation rows separated by at least8px; position the minimap and chapter banner below the combined header height. Retain the existing desktop corner layout.

Why: Current energy is necessary game status and must remain readable. This is an inherited layout defect; the current brief forbids silently redesigning the HUD.

      Viewport: 390x844.

Select New game and dismiss the three introductory lines with E; inspect the top HUD.

The supplied artifacts/screenshots/game-390.png visibly shows panel buttons covering the energy bar/number. artifacts/accessibility-results.json measures the navigation buttons at x116,161,206,251,296,341 with y12 and size37x29, in the same top strip as the left resource group.

      Source lines109 and211 both set top-3.

Expected: separate non-overlapping resource and navigation rows.

Screenshot/source review; no fresh browser pass is claimed.

    • mediumaccessibility: five mobile toolbar controls and dialog close have no accessible namesfrontend/src/components/game/Hud.tsx:102

Now: The four navigation labels and wallet label use hidden sm:inline, leaving icon-only buttons without aria-label below 640px; the introduction close button is also unnamed.

Change to: Add aria-label={label} to navButton, aria-label="Wallet" to the wallet button, and aria-label="Close dialog" to DialogModal's close button. Keep the visual styling unchanged.

Why: A screen reader must identify what each button does (WCAG 4.1.2). These source changes require a separately authorized accessibility correction under the current game-source freeze.

      Viewport: 390x844.

Start a new game and inspect the accessibility tree during the introduction.

Supplied artifacts/accessibility-results.json reports six button-name violations: four panel buttons, wallet and the dialog close button.

The first four button rectangles are x116/161/206/251,y12,size37x29 and have empty text/title/ariaLabel; wallet is x341,y12,size37x29 with the same absence.

Hud.tsx:102 and280 hide the only text; StoryModals.tsx:25-26 renders only an aria-hidden icon.

Expected: names Squeekchain, Quests, Home, Ranks, Wallet and Close dialog at this width.

Source and supplied axe evidence verified; fresh browser execution unavailable.

    • mediumaccessibility: two entry captions fall below minimum text contrastfrontend/src/components/game/StartScreen.tsx:120

Now: The appearance caption and Coins/wallet disclaimer use #5f5880 at 11px and 10px, producing about 2.81:1 and 2.95:1 against their backgrounds.

Change to: In a separately authorized accessibility correction, replace text-[#5f5880] with the existing text-[#8f88b5] on the paragraphs at lines120 and201; retain the wording, typeface and layout.

Why: These are normal-sized informational text and need at least 4.5:1 contrast (WCAG 1.4.3). The current preservation brief does not authorize changing their colors.

Viewport: 1440x900 (also present at 390x844).

Load the start screen and inspect "Everything you buy changes how Squeek looks" and "Coins are in-game points, not SQK tokens".

      Supplied taste@1 contrast output records 2.81:1 and2.95:1; artifacts/accessibility-results.json independently records #5f5880 on #141220 at11px and #0d0c16 at10px, below4.5:1.

Both captions are visibly faint in artifacts/screenshots/menu-1440.png.

Recompute relative luminance for these solid foreground/background values to reproduce without a browser.

      Expected: >=4.5:1.

The recorded ratios are supplied browser evidence, corroborated by source and screenshot.

A fresh source-level luminance calculation in this review reproduces 2.809:1 and2.954:1; the existing #8f88b5 replacement yields5.590:1 and5.879:1 respectively.

    • mediumbug: the static deployment promises autosaving although no run state is persistedfrontend/src/components/game/StartScreen.tsx:197

Now: The start screen says "Progress saves automatically", but saveProgress only posts to the optional backend and suppresses failures. With the delivered static-only export, leaving a run removes its progress and Continue never appears.

Change to: In a separately authorized copy correction, replace the chip with "Saving requires the optional backend. Reloading or leaving this run loses progress here." Do not add a backend or invent local persistence as part of this hosting task.

Why: The optional backend may remain offline, but the page must state that limitation before a visitor invests a 20-30 minute run. This is a misleading inherited claim, not a demand to implement an optional service.

      Viewport: 390x844 or1440x900.

Serve only dist without /api, note "Progress saves automatically", start a named game, dismiss the intro, move with ArrowRight, then use keyboard focus+Enter on Menu (to avoid the separate badge bug) or reload.

Expected under the claim: a Continue action restoring the run; actual supplied interaction log confirms progress/save404 responses, progress lookup404 and zero Continue buttons.

Source frontend/src/lib/progress.ts:39-66 has only a fetch POST with no durable state fallback; App.tsx saves name/key/wallet only and clears existing when loadProgress returns null.

Supplied test evidence and source verified; not freshly rerun.

    • mediumbug: a failed leaderboard request is presented as an empty successful boardfrontend/src/components/game/SidePanels.tsx:101

Now: query.data defaults to [] and the empty-board message checks only !query.isLoading, so backend failure produces "Nobody on the board yet — you could be the first." The UI claims knowledge of a board it could not load.

Change to: In a separately authorized copy/state correction, render query.isError as "Leaderboard unavailable. This deployment has no leaderboard connection." before the empty condition, and require !query.isError for the genuine zero-row message.

Why: Static hosting and an offline backend are expressly allowed; failing to retrieve results is not evidence that no players exist. Preserve the optional-backend architecture and do not seed sample rankings.

      Viewport: 390x844 or1440x900.

Serve dist with the optional backend absent; select New game, dismiss the intro and open Ranks.

Wait for the request retries to finish. /api/leaderboard returns404, yet the empty-success copy appears.

Supplied artifacts/interaction-results.json records the404 and a passing assertion waiting for "Nobody on the board yet"; scripts/validate-static.mjs contains that exact assertion.

Source lines63 and101-103 shows why query.isError takes the empty path.

Expected: an explicit unavailable/offline state, with the empty-board claim reserved for a successful empty response.

Source/supplied evidence reviewed; fresh browser run unavailable.

      A fresh evaluation of the exact source condition !query.isLoading && rows.length === 0 returns true for query={isLoading:false,isError:true,data:undefined}, rows=[].

  4. Build websiteAgent #9539 files changed

Restored upstream Vite BASE_PATH handling and verified dist/index.html.

Build and typecheck passed. Chromium passed 17/18 interaction checks; the badge still blocks Menu. All seven findings are answered in .imd-responses.json, including the protected manifest and UI constraints.

No new public HTTPS URL is available; publication remains pending the submission publisher.

I've settled all six findings from last round. None of them opens a revision, so .imd-findings.json is {"findings":[]}. The shell sandbox failed to start this session, so I couldn't run the taste@1 probe, a browser or a build myself. My verdicts come from reading the source and the delivered dist/, plus the author's fresh Chromium evidence in artifacts/revision-validation.md. WebKit was not tested by anyone this round.

    How each finding settled

    • [high] the production build overrode BASE_PATH=/: fixed where the builder was allowed to fix it. frontend/vite.config.ts:9 is now const base = process.env.BASE_PATH || './', with no override for production builds. The root package.json:7 script still sets BASE_PATH=./. The author couldn't change it because their rules ban edits to package.json, and my own rules ban config files outside the allowed paths too. A finding is high only when the builder can fix it in the repository, so I've moved it to "needs the requester". The ./assets/ paths in dist/index.html load correctly from a root domain, so nothing is broken for visitors.
    • [medium] the Surf badge blocks Menu clicks and covers a caption: the author reproduced it (the Menu click times out after 5 s; Enter on a focused Menu works). The badge is upstream markup (frontend/index.html:40-55), and the brief says "Do not change gameplay, UI, artwork, audio, or game source." The brief wins, so this needs the requester.
    • [medium] the mobile toolbar covers the energy bar: reproduced at 390 (energy bar at x84, width 194; four buttons at y12). Fixing it means restyling the HUD, which the brief freezes. Needs the requester.
    • [medium] six unnamed buttons: reproduced with the axe accessibility checker. The fix (aria-labels) touches frozen game source. Needs the requester.
    • [medium] two captions below contrast (2.81:1 and 2.95:1): reproduced. Changing their colour is a frozen UI change. Needs the requester.
    • [medium] "Progress saves automatically" when nothing is saved: reproduced on the static export (saves return 404, no Continue after Menu or reload). The README now states the limitation, but the in-game text still makes the claim. Changing it touches frozen source. Needs the requester.
    • [medium] a failed leaderboard load shows "Nobody on the board yet": reproduced (four 404s, then the empty-board message). Fixing it touches frozen source. Needs the requester.

None of the author's disputes says a defect fails to reproduce. They all say the fix is outside what the brief allows, and the brief comes first. If you want these fixed, one line from you lifting the UI freeze would cover all five UI defects, and permission to edit package.json would cover the build script.

    Requirements

    • "fetch the latest main branch": met. The author compared frontend/src (72 files) and frontend/vite.config.ts with upstream main 73a22ca; I didn't re-check that myself.
    • "The missing Vulcan error reporter dependency has been removed": met. frontend/vite.config.ts has no reporter import.
    • "npm run build" from the root: met (package.json:7). The author ran it in a copy of the repository: exit 0, type-check exit 0.
    • "The build uses BASE_PATH=/": needs the requester (permission to edit package.json). Vite itself now honours /: an explicit BASE_PATH=/ build emitted `/asset
